Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Ventures of Beyond

CH: 8

It had been two weeks since the Eon sisters tried to take Bran back to his mother. Bran had been hurt badly and his recovery was slow.

"Hello? Is anyone home?" A familiar voice called from the Team Hall outside Shiro's room.

Shiro collected all of the papers he had scattered around himself. Each one about Pokemon that move as if it were a shadow. Then he left the room.

"Shiro! I'm so glad to see you!" Marishi said, scooping up the Eevee and giving him a crushing hug.

Shiro struggled. "Marishi...I...can't...breathe," he managed to gasp.

She put him back down. "Sorry, I just missed you so much." She laughed.

"Yeah, I can tell," he replied "How was training with Lucario?"

Marishi's smile seemed to shatter. "Lucario is tough to train with."

Shiro tried to press her for details but she avoided answering.

"Well what happened to you while I was gone?" Marishi asked.

Shiro explained the whole situation with Bran. He started with training Bran and moved on to the point that Bran had been taken away to heal. Shiro didn't mention his evolution mostly because he didn't understand it himself.

"You had to get involved in something else that's dangerous didn't you." Marishi said.

Shiro looked away from her. "Yeah I do don't I?"

Marishi flinched and took a step back. "Shiro, I didn't mean anything by that. It wasn't your fault..."

"I was untrained, weak, and cocky. It absolutely was my fault!" [User1] Shiro snapped at her and he regretfully looked away from her once more then continued more calmly "I shouldn't have tried to do a mission."

"Well that's how you met me," Marishi whispered.

"The cost was too high Marishi, way too high," Shiro said and he left to go check on Bran again, this time with Marishi following him silently.

Marishi watched Shiro carefully. "Shiro have you been sleeping?" Marishi asked as she noticed he was slower than normal.

Shiro froze in place and stiffened. "No but not for the reason you think, I promise." He turned to her. "Something happened to me and I'm trying to figure out who I need to talk to about it. Whoever it is they are not like any Pokemon I know."

"I will help you if you promise to start sleeping again," Marishi said in a concerned voice.

He thought about it but shook his head "No I'll do this on my own but your right I should sleep more."

"Shiro? Who are you talking too?" said a Zorua that seemed to walk out of the wall.

"Marishi!" Shiro yelped jumping away from her "C-calm down" He shook his head trying to clear the rush of emotion that was flooding into his head.

"I-I'm sorry Shiro I didn't mean to I was just surprised," Marishi Replied.

"What happened?" Asked the confused Zorua.

"When you surprised me my emotions spread to Shiro. I'm Marishi, Shiro's partner my job is to detect traps. You must be Bran, Shiro has told me much about you.

Marishi focused her attention on Bran so that she could see his aura and she calmed down. Bran's Yellow aura was much more reassuring than Shiro's grey. "You hide your room with an illusion, why do you need to do that?"

"It's a little embarrassing but I'm still the target of a lot of pranks because no one will take me onto their team," Bran said shifting on his paws. "It's ok though because I don't want to be on any of their teams. I'm going to meet with Charizard today about it and I hope she understands."

"What are you planning Bran? I don't want to see anything happen to you because you said something wrong to her." Shiro said his eyes were wide open and his legs trembled ever so slightly.

"Shiro? What happened between you and Charizard when I was gone?" Marishi asked with concern in her voice.

"She is very strong, in simplest terms I stepped out of line and she put me in my place." A hint of fear lingered in Shiro's voice as he spoke.

Bran was staring at Shiro with shock. "Is that why you and Charmander?"

Shiro nodded "My fight with Charmander had repercussions"

Marishi looked between the two males. "You know what, Bran I'm going with you to see her. As for you scary paws, you go get some sleep because I'm feeling more and more tempted to put you to sleep myself and if your researching that mysterious Pokemon when I get back I will really do it."

Shiro turned to Marishi "You know I'm the leader of this team. I don't have to..."

*Thwap*

"Aak!!" Shiro sat back and placed his paws on his head where Marishi smacked him.

"You can be leader when you're back to normal and not a second sooner." Marishi said with a commanding growl "You may be the leader but I have a type advantage over you."

"You...you hit him." Bran gasped.

"Shiro" Marishi said tapping her paw on the stone floor and crossing her arms.

"Ok, ok I get it, your right I'm not in my right mind. You go with him but don't forget I want to know what happens." Shiro said and he nodded to Bran before leaving.

"You hit him." Bran said again the fact simply not sinking in.

"Yes I know, now are we going or will in need to hit you too?" Marishi said.

"No, no you don't need to do that, F-follow Me." he said as he turned and lead her to Charizard's quarters.

Marishi knocked on the door twice before an Aggron opened the door and let them in.

"Bran you look like you healed very well. How are you feeling?" Aggron asked.

"I'm fit enough to go on missions now." Bran said with a happy yip.

Aggron nodded and looked over to Charizard who was watching the two smaller Pokemon with interest. He waited until Charizard dismissed him and he stepped outside.

"Bran what brings you here today?" Charizard asked.

"I have a request of you Guildmaster Charizard." Bran said.

Charizard's eyes narrowed "Go on..."

"I would like to gain your permission to join Team Fortitude. I know that they belong to another guild but I think that I have caused enough trouble for your guild as it is. Glaceon never would have tried to infiltrate your guild if I were not here." Bran stated that last part with barely suppressed anger.

"Have you even tried to join any other teams yet?" Charizard asked.

"They won't accept anyone that has a criminal for their mother especially if that mother may be a danger to that team. Shiro I'm sure he won't mind, I know he will let me join." Bran said giving Marishi a hopeful look but her expression revealed nothing.

"I can allow it if Shiro lets you on his team and if you can pass a test of Ninetales choosing." Charizard said. "I expected you to ask me some time ago so I sent her a message but she isn't very good at replying."

Bran looked like his joy was going to force him to explode.

"Little Riolu your second in command of your team so you can choose to allow him on your team or not. Will you allow him to become a member of Team Fortitude?"

"Charizard I believe it's the least we could do." Marishi said.

Charizard nodded "You can count this act as a gift of thanks to Team Fortitude for dealing with the Eon Sisters."

"Thank you Guildmaster Charizard." Bran said.

"OK now if you don't mind I am going out for a bit." Charizard said with a dismissing tone and a flick of her tail that said she no longer found them interesting.

Bran rushed Marishi out without a word to Aggron, who was waiting in the hall for Charizard. In fact he ran all of the way to the to the team hall where Team Fortitude was.

"Hold up Bran you don't need to rush, Shiro's asleep and I don't want to disturb him. He hasn't had any sleep for a while." She said slowing the Zorua down enough that he was trotting more than running. He paused once he could see a Pokemon waiting outside the door to the team hall a Pokemon that Marishi recognized very well.

The Pokemon turned to the sound or Marishi and Bran approaching. "Marishi have they been treating you well here Pup?"
