#3 of Character fights

SO! phoenixrage16 and I managed to get another fight going and this time we chose our peaceful tacticians. My Jedi, Kaleb Lightfire, vs his Ice Phoenix, Vinge Glaseros.

Let the battle Begin!

Kaleb slowly walked into the arena rubbing his head. "...So much for a peaceful solution...."

Vinge descended from above, landing softly on the ground, before standing up and crossing his arms. "Let's see what you can do." He uncrosses his arms and draws his sword.

Pull out all the stops!!

FIGHT!!!

Kaleb looked around his surroundings and noticed a large boulder. "Might as well end this quickly.." He muttered as he slowly raised his hand, and just like that the boulder was in the air. Kaleb then hurled the boulder toward Vinge as hard as he could with Force Throw. Vinge easily ducked out of the way and spun himself, launching a sphere of ice from the tip of his sword as if firing it from a sling; it soared at Kaleb as fast as an arrow. Kaleb quickly drew his lightsaber and sliced right through the sphere, then quickly rushed forward and clashed swords with the ice phoenix. Vinge watched him as he approached, trying to read his movements as the two clashed blades. "Interesting fighting style... simple, straight-forward, mildly effective and complimentary to your evidently fast reflexes."

Kaleb smirked a little. "Don't give me all the credit...your style is interesting enough as it is..." He then changed up his tactics and switch from form 1 "Shi-Cho" Style to Form 5 "Djiem So" Attacking Vinge aggressively while still maintining a defensive posture. A personal favourite of Kaleb.

Vinge eventually sprang back to get some distance. "Thank you. I pioneered this myself, combining Kendo with Fencing." As Kaleb moved forward again Vinge lunged at him, jabbing with the full-reach of his Ropera. Kaleb quickly jolted to the side as the sword nicked his cheek, then he parried the blade and went for a cut straight to his neck. Vinge ducked under the swing, and, unable to bring his sword up without it getting parried again this angle, he spun himself on his heel, performing a lightning-fast whirling kick right to Kaleb's chest, nailing him heel-first, narrowly avoiding puncturing him with his talons. Kaleb grunted and backed away, retaliating by thrusting his hand forward and pushing Vinge away with Force Push. he recentered himself and ran toward Vinge once more, lifting up some small pebbles and hurling them at him with the Force as he rushed forward Vinge brought up a wall of ice rapidly, blocking not only the pebbles but also forcing Kaleb to stop.

He stopped short and examined the wall. "...Summoning ice telepathically....fascinating....I've never encountered something like this before..."

"Clearly you've never fought an Elemental," he heard Vinge's voice above him, and saw the phoenix flying over. "BURST!" And the ice-wall EXPLODED into a thousand fragments.

Kaleb reacted on instinct and backed up, holding his saber in front of him and switching to Form 6 "Soresu," taking on a purely defensive stance as he sliced at any fragment that came close, though soem did nail him, he relied on Flash Burn to neglect the pain until the shower had ended, then he crouched and healed his wounds wth Force Heal. "Ugh...well done. That was a well conceived tactic..."

"It is better to sting like 1,000 wasps than pulverize like a single bear," replied Vinge. "One attack compared to hundreds."

"An effective tactic....perhaps I could learn a little something from you..." He said as he studied Vinge a bit, then he held his hand and pulled it forward, using Force Pull to drag Vinge toward him. Vinge felt the otherworldly force pulling him, and reacted quickly, beating his wings to try and resist it. Kaleb grunted and applied more power to his ability, though he had another idea in mind. Rather than pulling his foe to him, he shifted his hand to make it look like he was gripping his foe using Force Grip, suspending Vinge in middair, then he hurled his saber like a boomerang with Saber Throw. Vinge only needed a single finger to conjure an ice-sphere, which he used to stop the saber, sending the sphere smacking into his handle and through it off course, and then launching the chipped ball of ice at Kaleb with his mind. Kaleb used his other hand to deflect the chipped ball away from him, then applied both hands to gripping Vinge and litreally YANKED him down from the skies and into the ground hard. Then he called back his saber and leapt into the air, aiming to pierce him from above. Vinge rolled onto his back and blocked the saber as it came down, and then with a bellow, a blizzard of snow erupted from his beak, pounding Kaleb with chunks of cold snow and bits of ice. Kaleb grunted and grought his arms in front of him then he yelled and thrusted his arms out, blasting the chunks away with Force Repulse, then he frowned and swung his saber at Vinges chest, hoping to at lest get a mark on him. By then Vinge was rolling away, springing back onto his feet and rushing at Kaleb again, slashing and thrusting at him in rapid tempo. Kaleb once again assumed Form 5 "Djiem So" blocking and wweaving through Vinges attacks while countering with his own. The duel was increasing in speed and Kaleb felt himself get a rush from it. He'd never faced an adversary as tactical as he was, and he truly was enjoying this fight.

Then, Vinge backed up from him, pausing so both could gather their breath. "You alter your styles very suddenly... were some of them not similar to other types I've fought you'd be impossible to predict."

Kaleb also panted and then he straightned up a bit. "You're a crafty one yourself...your style mixed with your abilities make you very lethal in combat...I never really get to enjoy a fight like this..." and with that he removed his long cloak, leaving him only in his Jedi Knight robes. "Let's start the second round....after you my friend..."

Vinge sheathed his sword suddenly, and then an arm of ice brought something over to him. "Fighting you up close is getting nowhere..." He retrieved the weapon 'handed' to him, which looked like a sickle with ball & chain hanging from it. "So let's see how you handle an enemy out of yours reach."

Kaleb studied the new weapon and deactivated his lightsaber, placing it on his belt. "So a bout based on distance fighting....alright then..." He closed his eyes and relaxed, then got into a defensive empty handed stance, keeping his hands open. "Your move..."

"You've disarmed yourself... why?"

"...Call it a style I invented myself..."

"Very well," Vinge gripped the sickle in one hand, but began to whirl the chain in the other. The dark colour and speed of its whipping about made it hard for Kaleb to follow with sight alone. Kaleb took in a deep breath, then he began to run forward, keeping his hands up as he dashed, then he sublty used the Force to enhance his senses with Force Sense, making it so everything around him was as clear as day, preparing for whatever Vinge might throw next. Vinge whipped out with the chain, reaching out 12 feet ahead with it, well out of reach for Kaleb, and aimed right for his face. Kaleb saw it coming thanks to his enhanced senses and leapt and twisted his body over it, landing into a roll and rushed forward, gathering a pile of pebbles with the Force and hurling them at Vinge as he rushed forward. Vinge saw the attack coming and hurried out of the way, but one caught his arm, throwing off his aim with the next swing of the chain; he intended to go for Kaleb's legs but it went higher, instead grazing over his stomach.

Kaleb backed up instinctively, though it dod manage to deal some damage to his stomach. He gripped his gut and slowly knelt, grunting from the pain. "..Urf...that stung..." Kaleb's hesitation gave Vinge an extra second to lash forward with the sickle-blade. Kaleb looked up and quickly held out his hand, aiming at the wound on Vinges arm and forcing it open with another personal favourite of his, Force Shatterpoint, which he learned from Grandmaster Skywalker himself.

"GAH!" Vinge recoiled in pain, dropping the kama-blade and sending the rest of the weapon crumpling into a metallic heap. "Dammit!"

Kaleb saw hsi chance and kicked Vinge in the chest, then leapt up and swept him down, drawing hsi saber in a backhanded grip and holding the blade of light at his neck. "....Yield"

"Not likely!" Vinge's eyes glowed and a rush of cold air burst from him, instantly chilling the metal handle of the lightsaber to the point it froze to Kaleb's palm, and whle distracted by this Vinge banked away from him and sprang back to his feet. Kaleb yelled out and backed up, gripping his frozen hand, then he growled and applied the force to break the ice surrounding his hand, then he dropped his saber and wrapped his hand in his robes in an attempt to help heat it back up. But Vinge wasn't waiting; he rushed forward, armed only with his bare hands, and unleashed a flurry of savage, fast blows at Kaleb, never striking at the same place twice and ending it with a head-butt right to Kaleb's nose. Kaleb took the beating full force and fell back from the headbutt, rolling back to his feet and holding his nose, then he growled and felt it was time to amp up the game a bit, holding out his working hand and Force Pulling Vinge closer to him, then he repeated the same combo with only one hand, ending with a hard kick to his beak, though he didnt stop there, when he was stumbling back, Kaleb added in a quick zap of Force Lightning to seal the deal.

"GAAAHHH!" Vinge was blown back, having no resistance to electricity whatsoever. Perhaps weak against it, as Ice was a sub-element of Water. Either way, the strikes were enough to floor him, and weaken him enough he was slow in getting back up.

Kaleb was also panting heavily, wiping the blood off his nose. "Seems....we've both reached....our limits..."

"This battle... is yours..." said Vinge, still unable to get up. "Your powers are certainly impressive... alien, almost... at first I thought it was Telekinesis but that form-changing doesn't fit the bit..."

"And you'd be wrong..." kaleb slowly walked over and held his hand to Vinge. "That power you witnessed is what's known as "The Force." It surrounds every living being and binds us all together through a microscopic lifeform known as Midichlorians..."

Vinge accepted it, and let Kaleb hoist him up to his feet. "Damn... you're a talented fighter, I am not ashamed to admit it." He paused after hearing Kaleb's explanation. "I doubt it applies to elementals like me," Vinge replied, half-humorously adding. "They'd probably freeze to death."

Kaleb chuckled. "Not true...They're an adaptive lifeform...they live through EVERYTHING. Even that tree over there..." he said pointing to a nearby tree. "And even in you." he said pointing at his chest. "Withough Midichlorians, life itself would cease to exist and we'd have no knowledge of the Force..."

"I've never heard of them before now, but I will take your word for it," he rubbed his arm. "That was a dirty trick pulling open that scrape like tha though..."

He nodded and rubbed his head slghtly. "Ahehehe....yes I apologize for that...my master was very strict with me when he taught that move..." He held out hsi hand and used Force Heal to close the wound back up.

"Ah... that's better. Thanks."

"It's no problem..." he called his Saber to his belt and it clipped on by itself. "...May I know your name before we part...?"

"My name is Vinge Glaseros," replied the ice phoenix.

"A pleasure...I am Kaleb Lightfire..."

With that, the two warriors departed, heading back to their homes, but both eager for a rematch.

Winner:

KALEB

Kaleb twirled his saber then placed it on his belt. "...I gave you the option to leave...you brought this upon yourself..."
