Kaiju Hunters-It Begins
#1 of Kaiju Hunters
Years after the end of the first Kaiju war humanity prospered and knew peace and began to spread among the stars creating new colonies and gaining new knowledge from other life forms in the galaxy. Our story begins on Vector 6 a farmer colony, there half the food supply of the new galactic government is grown oh but where are my manners? this is where I live and my name is Koji and i'm a wolf.
I moved here from earth to get away from all the hustle and bustle of the big city. The pay is good and so are the people and I even got a girlfriend, her name is Gwen; she's a catgirl and safe to say my parents were a little surprised when I introduced her. She has a home office managing the shipping for the crops while I worked the fields, I was truly a lucky guy.
One morning as I was harvesting the south field with the other farmhands I stopped for a moment to take a water break and to wipe the sweat off my brow and just as I planted my hoe into the ground the very earth shook beneath us, I looked at my tool wondering if that was me and then another quake hit followed by a loud roar that I never heard before. While I stood there wondering what was going on the others ran screaming in terror as they pointed to a shadow in the distance and then....I saw it.
"KAIJU!!!"
"RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!"
It was like staring at a nightmare. The Kaiju was as big as they skyscrapers in the city and I recognized it. It was known as an "Axehead" category one and though it wasn't anything like the others I saw in the records it was still a thing to behold. I ran towards my home to warn Gwen but it looked like the Kaiju could get there in just two steps, I looked back horrified thinking of what might happen then out of nowhere we heard a strange noise like a super sized blowhorn followed by the sound of choppers and as I spotted Gwen I also saw something nobody had seen in years. A Jaeger.
"Attention all civilians! head to the Kaiju shelter immediately! I repeat! move to the Kaiju shelter!"
The Jaeger I saw was Tactic Ronin. One of the Mark Ones that was scrapped during the war on earth, I had never seen a more awesome robot, it was like a kid watching his favorite tv show. Gwen quickly snapped me out of it and led us to a nearby alley still in perfect view of the two behemoths about to throwdown. Inside of the Jaeger were two of the best pilots Nik and Krystal of the Colonies military.
"This is Tactic Ronin. we are ready to engage."
"Copy that Ronin. you are authorized to use firearms if necessary."
"Understood."
In an instant the Kaiju ran full force into the Jaeger only to be given an uppercut followed by a left hook, the beast responded with a claw swipe to the torso knocking ronin on its side as it pinned it to the ground. It seemed like the Jaeger was scrap until a blade on its forearm sprang out piercing it on its side making it stumble back in pain as Ronin quickly got to its feet continuing the assault forcing it back, away from the town.
"Nik dear? would you care to do the honors?"
"Thanks babe. Engage orb cannon!!"
in an instant Ronins right arm instantly transformed into a gun upon hearing the command and in one shot the Kaiju fell on its back dead. The mess was soon cleaned up and the damage to the town repaired, while Ronin was being repaired Krystal and Nik stayed at the local inn for a little rest before being sent back to base.
That night as I laid in bed with Gwen I began thinking about the battle and how awesome it would be to pilot a jaeger and explore the galaxy but the next morning Gwen wasn't so happy.
"ARE YOU NUTS?!?"
"Gwen think about it. After all these years the Kaiju are back but nobody knows why. if another attacks we need to be ready." "So your plan is to hop into one of those machines and get killed?!?"
"No! I need to pass the entrance exams for the academy first..."
When it came to school I wasn't the smartest, in fact I barely got through highschool and I never did got to go to college but the one thing I did know is how to fight.
