#4 of Spies for a throne

So this is actually a more clean chapter, but no worries! Next chapter will have the usual kinky stuff! Just marking this as adult because of the previous chapters and chapters to come.

"Are you sure? I mean, we did get that one tip."

"Yes, and the mon that gave us that tip quickly left didn't he? When we looked through his mind again you saw that he had been lying."

The Hitmonchan sighed and shook his head, "My liege, you must take this seriously. Why go out and inform us of something he knew to be false? He knew we would search through his mind eventually to see if he was relaying the truth. So why concoct a scheme where he essentially wasted an hour of our time?"

The Lucario smirked at his guard, "Simple. There are pranksters, tricksters here and there. It's nothing to worry about William. He was deluded in some way, that I know. Trying to have us believe his fantasies and become something of a name. I can't have that going, and trying to make the guards panic is no good for the parade. We want every single mon to have a good time at this celebration. It's a festival based on happiness after all! I wouldn't wish for any restrictions if I could help it."

William shook his head again, "I... it's that feeling I have sir. I just have a feeling something is going on. Something is going to happen soon."

The Lucario cocked his arms, "William, we have this under control. Now, if it was where several incidents popped up where various mon had disappeared or even where some had approached me to tell me the same information he had, then I would have another look and probably have the guard enforce some new rules this time, but remember last year? Pranks galore happened. It's just what mon end up doing. Now come with me. I want to head out and see how the preparations are going. We'll be going to the square and we'll meet up with Sigmund. No objections."

William sighed and followed along the Lucario as he exited his room. The only noticeable difference about the Lucario was that he wore a silver collar around his neck, one that marked him as the current king. William likewise wore a band, but of different design. These two bands were gold and wrapped around his forearms. They indicated his role as the king's personal bodyguard. He had worn them for six years already and he wasn't going to be giving them up anytime soon. Many in the city claimed William was the fastest in the city. He was said to be able to run from one end of the city to the other in under thirty minutes. That was false by the way, he could manage it in twenty. For some reason he had been blessed with great speed from birth and that had been the sole reason he had been chosen as a bodyguard for royalty. He had worked his way up slowly of course. He had first started working as a bodyguard for the less important pokemon of the land, those that were rick mainly and could afford his services. He found himself getting popular quickly as his success went only rose more and more. He soon found himself protecting senators, judges, and now here.

The royal palace wasn't as special as many pokemon would claim it to be. He had walked these halls for so long that the grandeur of it had quickly worn off for the Hitmonchan. The whole building was constructed of the finest marble and silk carpets covered every inch of the floor. Various mon who worked in the palace bowed as the two walked past. Most were trained for quite some time before they were allowed inside the palace, with many ending up living within its confines. To William they could be trusted. The servants' mail was always read over and any personal communications they made was always monitored by the psychic network that they were all attached to. In essence, if anyone tried to infiltrate the area, either physically or mentally the psychics would be able to repel them.

Still, despite this security around his king William felt as if something was off. It was hard to explain, but he just had this very... prickly feeling, almost as if something was brushing against the back of his neck constantly. There was nothing there of course, but it was annoying none the less. Something was off and he knew that in time it would show itself, but his duty as a bodyguard was to figure out WHAT was wrong before it did happen! Yes, that was the infuriating part for him. It was like he was at the mercy of whatever would go wrong and that it could happen at any moment.

The two made their way out of the palace and of course into a swarm of pokemon. There were those that gasped and tried to see just a bit of the king while others quickly backed away and bowed their heads in respect. His majesty had gone through this procedure every time he had come out and so he paid little attention, only giving a nod here or a wave there. William could already tell that his majesty was getting annoyed at the sheer amount of pokemon surrounding and blocking his way at times, so he pushed on through and shouted out, "Make way for his majesty! Move out of the way!"

Many mon quickly began to move away, clearly knowing what had happened last year when William had given the same warning. It hadn't been pretty, that was for sure. As they walked along the Lucario flashed the Hitmonchan a grateful glance. The two moved along the busy streets with guards making sure to salute as they passed by. The two soon ended up at the grounds for where the festival would start. Thankfully it was roped off and they had more freedom to move about. There were a few mon off to the sides practicing their various routines, but the king was not interested in any of that. He made a bee line right for a Smeargle and crossed his arms, "What's the report Sigmund?"

The Smeargle quickly saluted and held up his papers, "The dancers have been practicing for the past few days and our decorations are completed in every quarter but the residential district. The stage is also set up and the last of the speakers arrived late last night. we're going to show them the stage later today and see if they'll need us to move anything."

The Lucario nodded slowly, "That's how I like it Sigmund. Far smoother than last year. Good work." He turned away just as the Smeargle blushed at the praise, but quickly nodded, "Yes my liege! This will be the best festival!"

The Lucario spent only a few minutes observing the rest of the activities going on before he motioned to William and the two departed. "What do you think?" The king asked his bodyguard.

William shrugged, "I am not much of an entertainer, but it looks promising enough. At least everyone is here this time."

The Lucario chuckled, "Aye, that is true."

William frowned again, "I feel it again. I know, I know. I just can't help feeling it."

The Lucario sighed, "Tonight you are taking a break William."

The Hitmonchan opened his mouth to protest, but the Lucario held up a hand, "You've been working yourself too hard. You need to relax. Even I need to get out once in a while! Go out on the town, get a drink, and just relax. I won't take no for an answer. I'll be well enough for a night. I am powerful and I have guards at the palace."

The Hitmonchan sighed and let out a stressed breath, "Fine. I will my liege."

"There we go! Just relax a bit! I don't know, go out for a massage or something." He said with a wave of his paw. "And no hiding in the palace."

The two eventually made their way back to the palace with the hullabaloo dying down in the streets. All that remained was for his king to pick up his quill and grab some paper and spend the rest of his day writing up documents, mostly for those regarding the festival to happen. That was his day, watching the king write and every so often receive a guest who bore some importance to the city or kingdom. This would bore many mon, but not William. He had to keep his eyes everywhere and hear everything going on. Unless specifically ordered by his king to step out he would hear everything anyone said in the room.

As the minutes ticked down William became more and more tense until his majesty finally placed the quill down and looked at him expectantly. "Fine." The Hitmonchan muttered as he made his way to the door. "I'll be back later tonight, won't stop me coming back." He saw the smug grin on the Lucario's face and he marched on out, slamming the door behind him. Even though most would have never slammed the door in front of the king William knew the king well enough. He wasn't going to be thrown into the dungeon anytime soon for being forced to go off duty.

The night was settling onto the city and those who had been working diligently throughout the day were all heading to their homes, but those who came for celebrations didn't have to look far. Various taverns were going to be open well into the morning and of course parties would be going on in them. He figured he might at least go to one bar, get a quick drink, and then make his way back to the palace. It was simple really and he wouldn't stay INSIDE the palace... just outside it.

He made his way through the streets that were full of party goers and those already liquored up. He sighed at the scenes of guards having to break of fights here and there. He never considered himself a drinker, but every so often a quick sip of wine was welcome enough. He knew of a bar that many in the palace talked about every so often. It was big enough and known to distribute a rare brand of oran juice that drag the most hardy of mon into a stupor. He wasn't looking for that strong of a beverage, but at the same time he did feel his curiosity rising. Okay, just one glass wouldn't hurt. It HAD been some time since he had gotten any alcohol after all.

He pushed into the tavern and made his way to a table. There were so many mon around that he really wasn't noticed amid the crowd. Good. He didn't want countless mon to look at him in awe or in fear or even come over to get an autograph. He took off his boxing gloves and flexed his fingers a bit, letting out a deep sigh as a waitress came on over. He was quick with his order and drummed his fingers along the wooden surface. The night was going peaceful enough, maybe it wouldn't be so-"Evening sir!"

A cheery voice sounded out behind him and it took all of William's training to not let out a stressed sigh. The other chairs were filled in with a Sableye and a Poliwrath. The Sableye sported a large grin on his face and the Poliwrath had a cheery look in his eyes. From look at their uniforms he could tell they were guards. Well, either they would take the time to announce to everyone who he was... or they were here for some sort of favor. He had it happen multiple times before. Guards come up, chat a bit then try to squeeze in a favor to be reassigned somewhere.

"What is it guardsmen?" He asked.

"Well, we just saw you sitting here all alone and thought you could use some company!" The Sableye said with a nod.

"Uh... huh." The waitress had come back and placed his drink down and he quickly picked it up, taking a few sips from it. "I really don't need any company. I will only be here for a few minutes. Not enough time to have a conversation."

"Oh but it is!" the Sableye said as his smile widened.

"Minutes are precious things." The Poliwrath commented. "They should always be treasured and used."

William took a few more sips as the cherry flavor bubbled against his tongue. Yeah, this drink really wasn't that bad. He would have to be careful to not drown it all down. He couldn't show up to work drunk.

"So, how has your day been sir? I would say it's probably quite busy these past few days."

"You could say..." William said carefully. He couldn't really let anyone, even guards, know what happened in the palace. It was all confidential that way.

"I but it has been." The Poliwrath said cheerfully. "You know, there are these rumors going around, where they say someone is trying to take over the festival. I hope that isn't true."

William fell silent and closed his eyes. The Sableye spoke up after, "I do wonder though, are there any positions for guards in the palace?"

And there it was, the query. He took a gulp of his drink and stood on up. "Thank you guardsmen, but this conversation has to be cut short. I have a job to return to." He placed his gloves back on and made his way out of the tavern. As he walked along he could fee something akin to an itchy sensation on his forehead. He brushed it off as he heard footsteps following him.

"Just asking is all." He heard the Sableye say.

"Drop it guardsmen." He muttered and as he took his next step his vision swayed a bit. He stopped in his tracks and blinked his eyes for a moment until his vision returned to normal. That drink must have hit him harder than he predicted. He resumed walking as the Poliwrath also pleaded, "Come on! There has to be something you could give us? Maybe a simple guard position in the kitchen?"

All the while he could feel his knees starting to tremble. He quickly made his way to a building and leaned against it. "I... stop asking!" He snapped as he closed his eyes tightly. He took in deep breaths to try and clear his head, yet every breath just caused him to shiver in the nightly breeze. He fell to his knees and he felt the Poliwrath lifting him up.

"Oh dear! Need some help sir? That drug must be hitting you hard now."

Wait... drug!?

"Tsk tsk! You should have a better tolerance." The Sableye chided, "Don't worry, when we take control of the festival we'll make sure to give you a good part in it!"

William closed his eyes and managed to gather enough of his diminishing energy to say one last thing. "F-Fuck... you..."

Darkness took over his mind and the Hitmonchan's head fell forward. The Poliwrath slung his body over a shoulder and whistled as the two moved into a side alley and disappeared from sight.

~~~
As William slowly woke up he squirmed for a bit before a voice spoke up, "Hold up, I'll be right with you." He groaned softly and blinked his eyes as he could see only a vague shape moving in his sight. He shook his head again and his sight slowly began to clear up. In front of him was a strange being who levitated in mid air. Its body was a brown color and its green eyes were centered on him. "Hello there William. Feeling comfortable?"
William gritted his teeth and leapt up, trying to punch at the strange mon. The creature's eyes shimmered as a green shield blocked the attack, "Oh no. We aren't done here yet."
As William pulled his fist back he noticed something strange. His hand... it was yellow. He looked again and could see they were brown, but his wrists were covered with yellow fluff. In fact he looked down and saw that the rest of his body was likewise covered in short brown fur. He looked up and the being narrowed his eyes, "Ah yes, like your new body? Thankfully there was no disgusting rape this time. I find it quite irksome whenever they do it and demand I stay in the room. Now, onto your new memories, I think giving you a background of having been raised on the streets and wanting a more fair economy should work, don't you?"
William took a shaky step back, "W-What did you do to me!?" He cried out, though he noticed his voice was now a bit higher in pitch.
The mon sighed, "Please don't drag this out. I am stressed out enough as it is! Look, you'll be rewritten and that's it! It's simple really."
William quickly turned about, trying to find an exit, but walls only surrounded him. "Yes, this requires a teleporter to get inside. That would be me in case you didn't figure it out. Now." He held out a hand and William found himself gripped by a psychic force. "We begin." The Beheeyem floated on up and placed his hands on both sides of William's head. "I would say sorry, but I do need the money."
As that alien mon approached him William felt his survival instincts kick into high gear. He suddenly found himself adopting his usual boxing position and his right hand jabbed out with surprising speed, smashing right into the Beheeyem's face and causing it levitate back a bit. "H-Hey now! Don't-" The being never finished as William went all out. He punched back and forth, each fist shooting out as fast as lightning. Finally the Beheeyem was slammed against a wall and covered now with black bruises.
"Oh... oh... that hurt..." The psychic croaked out. "I... you know... I was..."
William grabbed the psychic and held him against the wall, slowly starting to choke him, "Where am I!? Tell me!" He shouted out.
"Y-You don't want to know." The Beheeyem groaned out, but William slammed him against the wall again, "Tell me!"
The Beheeyem coughed a bit, "You want to know? Fine! You're in a underground cavern. Secret of course. You were abducted and your soul was dragged out of your body and into this form. Likewise the previous occupant of the body you are currently in moved into your body and is now masquerading as you up in the city. It's all a part of the plan."
"What plan?" William asked angrily.
"Eh... look, I don't know all of it. All I know is that I was hired, under threat of death ya know, to do some jobs here and there. It was simple at first, just they bring me a mon, I put some new memories into their heads and that's it! I didn't know about this whole body snatching thing until way later! Honest!"
William squeezed a bit more and the being squirmed, "Ack! Alright! Their plan is something about getting power! I don't know why they want it but they do!"
William released his grip and the Beheeyem gasped for air, "Are they targeting the king?" He asked warily.
"Yeah, who else do you think?" The Beheeyem muttered. "I don't know why they want to gain control of the entire country, takes quite a lot to pull that off in my opinion, but they are ambitious."
William sighed, "You're coming with me. You're going to teleport me out of here."
The Beheeyem chuckled, "Can't, they know where I port. They will kill me. They always blindfold me anyways, so can't help with seeing previous places."
William frowned, "Well then think of a place you have seen!"
"I can't! Out of range! Look, don't kill me!" The Beheeyem plead.
William sighed and let him go, "Fine, you're spared for now."
The Beheeyem grunted and slowly levitated up, "Urgh! This is so stressful! I was never told that I could be potentially killed on an assignment! This is so... so... urgh! Well they won't let me port to my quarters until you are successfully rehabilitated."
William narrowed his eyes, "Oh? and what if you don't?"
The Beheeyem snorted, "They'll keep us here. Besides it's not that bad! You're just a female is all."
William turned he-HIS head away and crossed his arms, "But I'm still a male in my mind."
"Sure, whatever you say girl." The Beheeyem muttered. "Look, it'll be in both of our interests if you just let me do it. It's just business is all."
William frowned, "What IS it you want to do? It can't be good either way."
The Beheeyem rolled his eyes, "It's just a simple rewrite is all. Look, you'll feel far better after it, trust me." He said as a soft green glow emanated from his eyes.
William quickly turned his eyes away, "I-I know what you're trying to do!" He cried out defiantly, "It won't work!"
The Beheeyem floated on closer, "You see... I'm not that much of a battler. I tend to forget things from time to time, but desperate times call for desperate measures. I don't like being the rough guy, but you really are asking for it lady. Now just stare."
The Beheeyem raised his hands as green and red circles shot out at the Lopunny's eyes. "Just relax... relax and let me drift through that mind. You feel so relaxed. You haven't felt this relaxed before in your whole life! It's wonderful to feel relaxed isn't it?"
William felt his head slowly start to turn, a force almost compelling him to look, and once his eyes locked on his whole body froze. He stared at those circles of light and heard that soothing voice from the Beheeyem. He tried to twist away, but he did have to admit, he did feel relaxed and it WAS nice to feel relaxed.
The Beheeyem chuckled, "Good, good! Like that. It's good to relax right? You love to relax... you love to just kneel and let your mind wander..."
The Lopunny swayed back and forth as she fell to her knees and the Beheeyem floated a bit closer, "Yes... that is a good bunny. Just lay down on your back and let your mind relax. Don't worry about anything anymore. Just relax."
The female soon found herself on her back and for a brief second her mind wondered why she was positioned like this, but that query quickly drifted away under the guiding voice. The Beheeyem floated forward a bit more and looked down at the Lopunny, letting his voice relax her even more. He watched as her eyes glazed over and he grabbed at the sides of her head. He pushed his mind into hers and looked among the memories once more. "Hm... now what to give?" He wiped the mind clean and tapped his chin, "I know!"
In an instant memories began to surface in her mind. Memories of being an elite warrior, a fast one who loved to box against others. Memories of being trained by the leaders themselves and shaped into a bodyguard of sorts. The Lopunny shivered more and more as memories of friendships and rivalries were filtered into her mind until finally the Beheeyem was done.
He pulled away from the now unconscious Lopunny and sighed, "I don't get paid enough for this."
~~~

"Are you sure?"

"Positive my liege." The Hitmonchan replied.

The Lucario nodded, "Very well then. Talk with Trevon and see where they can be placed. Good work William."

The Hitmonchan nodded and turned to the Sableye and Poliwrath waiting near the door, "Alright you two, let's find you a good guard position then." As the two left the Hitmonchan chuckled and turned around, "Oh by the way my liege, I got this for you." He handed the Lucario a golden band, similar to the one that the Hitmonchan now wore on his own bicep.

"Ah, a festival decoration eh?" The Lucario asked as he slipped it on his wrist. "I saw you three wearing these."

"Yes, it is said to bring good luck. I must get going, but I will be back soon my liege." The Hitmonchan was quick to leave and the Lucario returned his attention to the papers on his desk. Normally William would have stayed by his side. Heh, that night off really did do good for that Hitmonchan.
