The unexpected surprise for the dragoness
#5 of short stories
This idea cam to me when I was doing a story that is not ready. Anyway, it was a break from a larger story.
It was a spring day and a knight witnessed a massive dragon flying with, a madden out of the small village. The knight asked the locals, "I am your protector and I will slay the dragon for you! Where is the foul beast?!" The locals looked perplexed and replied, "We have no dragon problem. That is a village guardian and the madden, is the princess doing the monthly deal. Ever since that dragon has been here, no raiding or barbarian has dared to set one foot in the village to take over." The knight did not care as he found the lair at the top of the mountain. He climbed the mountain with his squire and made a discovery that was a shock to their eye's. The princess was safe and a clutch of twenty eggs was nearby. They approached with full intent of saving the princess and destroying the eggs. The squire viewed piles of gold and jewels with a bed fit for a king. Food was there and he dropped his sword. The knight continued as the dragon came from the entrance. The squire sat quietly in the corner and the knight was pushed down. The princess approached the knight and said, "So you did not believe the villagers at all. That is a shame as here how the arrangement goes, I guard her nest once a month when I am having my period in exchange she gets a week off. That gold is the kingdoms' treasury she is guarding. Her gold pile is smaller and we allow three female dragons and two male dragons to live in the kingdom to protect us if they purchase the live stock they eat. You disrupted her time off and now she gets to eat you if she wishes." The squire asked, "Am I safe?" He had gotten up and was unarmed. The princess replied, "Only if you leave stay unarmed and, back off." The squire replied, "Sir Alex, I have a pet dragon I never told you about because you kill dragons assume they are evil. Have you ever wondered if we were doing wrong? Before I became your squire, I hatched a dragon that you killed the mother. Dragons are big and scary, but a health respect for their nature and behavior and we can live in peace with them." The squire whistle in a special pipe and a young male dragon flew into the cave and licked the squire. It was his pet and loyal companion. It was like a dog and, the female dragon, let the young male dragon with the squire approach the inner part of the cave. She waived her head to allow them in and the princess was cautious as they came near. The young dragon had a saddle and straps attached to the back of the horns to give some guidance. It was a pet and wanted to play with the knight as the female dragon let him up and picked up the sword. The knight was in shock as the princess came to the squire and looked at his dragon. She said to the squire, "My father will be pleased that not all kingdoms treat dragons so poorly. How would you like to be my husband? My father will certainly skip the dowery to see your pet in action and allow the marriage." The squire was young and his face was red as he replied, "Only if Sir Alex strips and walks home naked, and on the harvest festival when we have the marriage. I think such a wedding should be enjoyed by the serfs as well." The princess replied, "You will make a great king one day. I agree to your terms if my father allows it." The knight was walking home humiliated and angry that his squire treated him so badly. The princess rode the squire's pet home for a short and improvised visit the female dragon allowed. Her father accepted the terms and she came back into the dragon's lair to finish the monthly arrangement as the squire was given the title of knight and future king of the kingdom after the royal marriage.
