The Fox And The Crow Chapter 1

It was a cold,Rainy night. The forest was a dark and covered in water. Everyone was in their home and staying as dry as they could. There was one lone soul who had no home and no one to help him. He has grown accustomed to being alone and often prefers to. His name is Fox which is fitting considering he is one. He has a fairly simple pelt:He is covered mostly in orange but has white on the top of his muzzle and on his paws with some white on his stomach and between his legs. He has black tipped ears and a black nose and his eyes were dark brown. He has a hole on the tip of his left ear showing after an altercation he had with a hunter. With the rain hitting him,It made his pelt stick to him like crazy and he could find no shelter. He was trekking through numerous areas trying to find somewhere to sleep. He had been awake for days and was begging for at least one hour of sleep. At least! But he couldn't get it. He couldn't. He was for forced to keep walking through the woods till he found a true place to stay. After what seemed like walking for an eternity,He heard a crow shriek loudly and a loud thump noise. He was curious as to what it was and had enough energy to at least see what it was. He began to run to keep himself awake and then sprinted. Maybe this crow was dead. He could eat something. He was starving. He could see if the killer had a home. Maybe he could have something good happen to him... He kept running and running and running before he came to where he thought the crow fell. He heard someone shout for help. "Help! Help! Someone help me! Please! My beautiful wing..." He heard the crow say. It sounded feminine. And it's wing was hurt. And oddly it made him feel bad for the poor creature. Maybe he wasn't going to eat it. Maybe. When he turned around the corner of a tree,He found the crow on the ground,Groaning in pain and whining about her shot wing. Fox had quietly snuck up to the crow but wasn't unnoticed. The crow began to shriek wildly and yell for help. She was going ballistic! "Help!! Help me! The Fox is gonna eat me! Someone help me please!" Fox had to cover his ears because she was yelling so loud. The rain kind of muffled her and everything but... Dang. She was loud! She realized that no one was gonna help her and stopped yelling before she began to cry. Fox felt bad. He felt like he had to help now. He walked closer and she did nothin but stare. He sat down in front of her and she watched him. She studied him. The rain was the only noise the both of them could hear. But Crow could also hear her heart beat. She was wide eyes and terrified and waited for the Fox to eat her. He leaned in close. Very very close. She could feel his breath and was about to pass out in fear. But instead she watched as Fox licked the blood off her wing. It hurt slightly but then she got used to it and it began to feel nice. When the blood was gone,Fox pulled away and looked at Crow and smiled,Showing off his teeth. His numerous,Slightly Yellow,Sharp... Painful looking teeth. She couldn't help it. Crow fainted and Fox was shocked. Kind of. It had to be scary staring a predator in the face. When he heard rustling,He knew it was a human. He knew it was the hunter. He picked Crow up with his teeth gently and ran as fast as he could. He must have ran for hours and the rain was toying with his eyesight. He was running into several trees and couldn't see anything. He just kept running and running and running until he found a small cave. Finally! A place where he could rest! A place where he could sleep! Yes! He ran into the cave and was surprised that no one had occupied it. Such a big,Warm and dry area was completely empty with no one around. Sure it was suspicious but come on. If you went three days without sleeping and you were soaking wet and too tired to go somewhere else and was trying to save the life of another creature,Would you find another place? I didn't think so. Fox had set Crow down on the floor and shook himself dry. He looked at Crow and licked her face multiple times before she began to wake up. She was unsure of her surroundings and looked around in confusion before setting her eyes on Fox again who smiled. She jumped up in fear and tried to fly away but she forgot her wing was damaged and fell back to the floor in pain. She finally laid down and closed her eyes. "If your gonna eat me,Eat me. Don't make this difficult don't make me suffer. Just eat me!" Fox sat down and opened his mouth to speak before she interrupted him. This time she was pleading for her life. "Please! Please don't eat me! I have so much to live for. There's so much I haven't done! I haven't flown south for the winter! I haven't shared a nest with a mate! I've never even-" Fox put his paw on Crow's mouth to silence her. She blushed at what she was going to say next and chose not to say anything else. As if she had a choice. Fox got a chance to speak now. "I am not going to eat you. I promise. I am not going to eat you." She mumbled the words,"Really?" And Fox answered,"Yes. I promise you that." He brought his paw away from her face and Crow sighed in relief. "Ah! I thought you were gonna eat me." Fox turned around and looked outside. Crow cocked her head to one side and watched Fox walk away while also paying a little attention to two small round objects between his legs. They rocked back and forth as Fox walked and she found herself hypnotized by them. They were... Weird looking. She shook her head to clear her mind. Fox had walked to the entrance to the cave,Sat down and watched the rain fall. Crow looked at him weird and then got up and walked towards him. "Seems you and I are stuck here," said Fox turning to look towards Crow. She was shocked. She had no fear-Or at least had a small amount-For the Vulpine but the main reason why was because she had to get home. Winter was coming and her friends and family were going to leave south if she didn't get there in time. She had about four weeks to get to her flock before they left. The problem was she had no clue where they were! "No! I have to get home! I have to get home now!" She yelled at the top of her lungs. Fox was starting to dislike this bird. All she did was whine and yell. "Crow! Have the ever heard of whispering or maybe shutting up?! Please! I would like for at least five minutes of silence so I can think! Please!" Crow was shocked by this. And a bit insulted. But she didn't know what to say. She stood there and looked outside. She then sat down and slowly began to cry. Fox noticed this and sighed. He didn't say anything but used his tail to hit Crow. She looked at him but remained silent. "Hey. Stop all that crying. I didn't mean anything,It's just... I... Haven't slept in three days. I could just really use some quiet," said Fox,Yawning at the end of his sentence and struggling to keep his eyes open. Crow noticed this and wiped her eyes clean of tears. "I'm sorry. I'm really sorry," she said and even snuggled close to Fox. "You say your tired so how about you and I go get some sleep?" Crow was waiting for a response but was shocked to find that Fox was sleeping standing up. She heard snoring. She gave a small laugh and then pecked Foxes side. He woke up quick and looked at her. "What what what? Did I fall asleep on you?" Crow nodded. Then got up and walked over to the grass bed she was laying on before. "Come now Foxy. I need your warmth more than ever. My wet feathers are starting to make me cold," she said giving a small shiver. Fox looked at her with a raised eyebrow. "You want to sleep with an animal that can eat you in your sleep? Really?" Fox asked with a slight smile. He wasn't going to go against the idea but wanted to make sure she was serious. Crow smiled. "Yeah. I want you as my pillow," she said giving a small crow shriek. Foxes ears laid back on his head and he smiled at her. "You like doing that don't you,Crow?" He asked her walking towards her and then curling into a ball around her. Crow smiled and looked at Fox. "I'm a Crow. That's a noise I make. What noise do you make huh? What does the Fox say?" She said with a sly smile. Fox glared at her. "Don't ever ever say that. Ever. That song is annoying. Foxes don't make any of those weird noises." Crow looked at him weird. "What song are you talking about?" Fox shook his head. "Nothing. Nothing never mind what I said." Fox didn't feel like explaining. He was too tired. He rested his head and closed his eyes but Crow still had a few more questions. "Hey Fox?" She asked wearily. Fox opened an eye. "Yeah Crow?" "Why do you call me Crow?" She asked curiously. Fox gave a small laugh. "Until you give me another name to call you,I'm calling you what you are. That alright?" He asked her looking at her. Crow nodded. Fox closed his eyes again..... Crow had another question. "Hey Fox?" Fox opened one eye and looked at her. "Yes?" He spoke with a slightly irritated voice. "You have soft fur." Fox sighed and let out a small chuckle. "Thank you." He closed his eye and began to go to sleep again...... Crow had another question. "Fox?" Fox didn't open his eyes but continued to talk. "Yes Crow?" Crow looked at him and noticed his eyes were closed. She asked anyway. "Do you have family?" Fox didn't answer. He simply said,"Goodnight Crow." And she closed her eyes. She still had questions but when she was gonna ask one,She heard Fox snore. She then got comfortable with Fox around her and closed her eyes. Somehow Foxes snoring helped her sleep but there was still something that got to her. She had four weeks to get home before her family left. How would she do it? She couldn't fly. Her wing was still injured and she couldn't walk. She'd be eaten by the next creature that saw her and hunters could easily catch her. Maybe she could... No. It wouldn't work. But it was worth a shot. Maybe she could get Foxes help. Should he want to. She had to find a way home however and if she couldn't get Foxes help,She would have no hope of getting home. She chose to worry about it tomorrow. Now she wanted to sleep. She had a harsh day. She just wanted to sleep...
