This wasn't Ladra's first beating or the first time Shadow saved his ass, but it was the worst for being the most public one. What hurt most was Ladra wanted to cry but he dare not do it in front of Shadow, he believed he was stronger than that. His body ached with the deep bruises that were forming on his pale skin.Shadow looked down at Ladra as they entered the nurses office, as they did the nurse, a white rat, stood up and instantly came over to help Ladra into a bed while she looked him over and went to call The Good Doctor as he sat next to him. "I'm sorry dude""It's fine, I should have been more careful." Ladra was in a lot of pain but refused to acknowledge it as he kept up a very calm appearance, the nurse soon bringing a bag of ice to help the swelling and throbbing down."No you shouldn't have been beaten." He looked at the nurse. "Thank you." He turned back to Ladra. Aand I know your hurting," He gets up and hug him. "I don't care if you cry, it only shows that you can feel."Ladra was taken in by this as those strong arms hugged him, he began crying as he slowly wrapped his arms around Shadow and clung to him. Tears welling up in his eyes as he finally sniffled and sobbed in the wolf's strong chest.Shadow held the human close as he let him wet his shirt and fur with his tears as he rubbed his back lightly. "I've known you for too long to not know that you were gay dude, I care either."Ladra tensed up at the mention of that word as he choked up and strained to fight back more tears as Shadow held him there. "I'm just a fag..."He covered his mouth. "Don't you dare out yourself down. You are a great kid, creative smart, fun to be around. Any guy would be lucky to have you."Ladra removed that hand away from his mouth as he bitterly bit his bottom lip and hugged Shadow tighter, nuzzling his chest as he struggled to keep his feelings in line.Shadow nuzzled him a bit in return. "Let it out dude, I don't give a shit at that moment."Ladra was about to say something when there was a knock at the door, looking over he saw there was a tall and lanky human with grayish combed hair, a goatee, wearing trousers and an overcoat. "Father!"Shadow gets up and gives the doctor an overly formal bow. "Doctor, a pleasure to see you again, though I do wish it was on better terms."Dr. Grey: "Yes as do I Shadow." The doctor gave a blank look at Shadow as he moved to cradle Ladra to his chest and check his bruises. "Who did this to you Ladra?"He growled as my eyes got tinted a light hue of red. "A few of my supposed friends, who I'm going to beat to an edge of their lives if I ever see them again," said Shadow."Now, now, wolf, no need for your bestial instincts to kick in. They'll pay dearly, I'll make sure of that as long as you do not so much as resort to delinquency." Dr. Grey rested Ladra back down and checked his pocket watch. "I'll get him

checked out, you are more than welcome to join us for dinner Shadow." He smiled and gave a bow. "I would love that Dr. Grey, and unfortunately I can't make promises, I'm still pissed about it .""I need you to be a good influence around my son Shadow. He loves you dearly and constantly tries to keep you out of trouble." He sighs and claps the very tall wolf with his bony hands. "Please my boy, you and I are almost all he has in this world." The wolf sighed and nodded. "Of course sir, I'm sorry." He pinned his ears back and whimpered lightly."Shadow?" Ladra called out to him as he missed his friend's warmth. "Go to him son, I'll go get his things." With that the Doctor was about to go get his sons belongings.He nodded and smiled. "You can put them in my car. I don't mind." He handed Dr. Grey the keys to his Camaro before the Doctor went away. Going over and hugging Ladra close yet again.Ladra smiled as he got to hug Shadow again. Feeling so much better as he kissed his chest without thinking as he was absorbed into the moment.Shadow blushed brightly and looked down at him. "Well then."Ladra blushed softly as he realized what he was doing and just stayed there hugging him. He blushed more and helped Ladra up as Dr. Grey came back. "Come on, let's get you home." He brought him over to Grey. "To your car for him?""Yes please, just follow us, but you know the way by now." Ladra was taken by the hand as Grey led him out to his pickup truck.He nodded as he walked over to his car and followed them to the old mansion.They drove up to the large mansion on the outskirts of town. Dr. Grey got out of the truck and helped carry Ladra's things while Shadow helped him up the steps and into the grand foyer. Shadow looked up in wonder at the mansion. "Never stops amazing me how beautiful your house is Dr. grey.""Thank you Shadow. Well I'll go prepare Ladra's room for both of you." Dr. Grey went up the stairs as Joseph looked back up at Shadow. "Flattery will get you nowhere with him." Ladra joked as he was smiling."God help us all..." Ladra chuckled as he jabbed at Shadow and ran into the kitchen, strangely not feeling as much pain like before. "Heh, yeah right...." He muttered as he followed. "Hey! You shouldn't be up and moving all ready!""What?!" Ladra slowed down but just came back and shoved Shadow playfully and stuck his tongue out. "Come get me you silly pup!" He laughed and ran away."HEY! GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE TWIRP!" He chased after the human and laughed as he rounded the corner. "I'M GOING TO GIVE YOU SUCH A NUGGIE, YOU'LL HAVE A HEAD ACHE FOR WEEKS!!!""NANANANANA!" He said singsong as he was chased around the counter and into the dining room. Laughing loudly as they were just like little kids again.Shadow cornered the boy on the opposite side of the dining table. "I got you now twerp." He

laughed as he crouched down, ready to pounce over the table and tackle Ladra."Come get me then Jock!" The young boy put up his dukes and swiped his thumb on his nose like a boxer as he did air punches and jumped around giggling. He grinned evilly as he crouched down as low as he could 'A little demon power won't hurt at the moment' he jumped up and over the table performing a flip and a spin landing behind Ladra and grabbing him by the shoulders. "Gotcha!"Ladra meeps and suddenly pushes back on against the Wolf with unbelievable strength as he pins him on the wall. Turning around quickly and pinning his biceps. "No I got you!" 'Fuck why do these weird things keep happening to me?!' He thought to himself.He yelped lightly and cocked a brow. "The hell? When did you get so strong?" He grabbed his wrists and slips down and sliding under his legs pulling him down with him and jumping up to put a foot paw on his chest in victory.Ladra laughs as Dr. Aragen Grey comes in and frowns at the two. "Must you roughhouse when one of you is hurt." He lifts the paw off and helps Ladra up. "Clean yourself up, supper is ready." "I said the same thing until he shoved me and ran off like nothing happened." Giggled lightly and went to wash up, cleaning his paws and such thoroughly and going back to the dining room. "Thanks for letting me stay Dr. Grey."Dr. Grey smiled genuinely as his features softened and the gentle wrinkles relaxed around his eyes. "Well you are as close to family we can have, of course you are more than welcome to stay with us. You've done so much to be with Ladra." He set up dinner, roast beef and a little wine mixed with juice. He smiled and wanted to give the Doctor a hug but wasn't sure if he should, so he settled with clapping a hand on his shoulder. "Thank you Grey, that means more than you know."The Doctor smiled and gave Shadow a quick hug and patted his shoulders. "Let's not make that a habit okay." He snickered and sat down to start the dinner. "Anything good happening with you Shadow, or otherwise?" He shrugged as he sat down and put his napkin in his lap. "I'm going to work my team into the ground at the next practice but that's a given. As for anything else, not really no. How is your research going Doctor?""Well, the studies are tedious just researching from books, I prefer the field. Any potential prospects for a girlfriend?" He took a sip and looked at Ladra worriedly as he just wolfed down food at the mention of that question."Girlfriend? Easily if I wanted to, there is this very increasing growing gaggle of girls that are constantly flirting with me. If I wanted to have a girlfriend, it'd be easy, but I'm not interested." He gave a worried look at Ladra as he ate his food. "Mm good job though on meat loaf doctor.""Thank you, it's roast beef." Ladra calmed down and ate normally as he felt rather shy lately being around Shadow,

noticing how muscular, cut, handsome...kind, sweet...aww he just couldn't help feeling so strongly for him. Chuckles. "Whoops, sorry." He sips his juice and looks over at Ladra, the straight black hair, the lean figure, and the absolutely adorable personality 'no interest in a girl what so ever'. "So Doctor, what else has been going on with you?" "Not much really but I must be getting back to work soon, I'll be back later to see you two off to sleep." He finished his meal and took his plates. "I'm 16 already, I don't need to be tucked in Daddy!" Ladra said annoyed with a little humor. "You will do as I say young man!" Dr. Grey retorted with a grin to his voice. Shadow chuckled and grinned at the two. "You would never guess you two are not related." He laughed a bit and sighed. "To bad I live alone..." "Hm...well you should think about moving in." Ladra said as he finished the last bite of food. "Say what now?" He fixed Ladra with a curious gaze."Why not come live with us? This place has many room and my father likes you so why not." Ladra spoke with a quickening pace, excited that they could be living together."Well... I'd love to, but what do you think Dr. Grey? It's your house after all 'but if I accept, they could find out what I am...'" He thought as he looked at the Ladra.Ladra looked at him as he gathered the plates and walked to the sink to wash them. "Yeah we will after testing the waters tonight.""What do you mean "testing the waters"? Are you doing an experiment?" He asked."I mean we can see how well we do with you staying the night and if it works out we can have you stay permanently." He continued to scrub the dishes to get all the grime off."Oh, why didn't you just say that?" He grabbed a cloth and dry off the dishes as he passes them to the human.Ladra smiles and starts humming a song he heard on the internet recently from a book series, it was a song about lovers who would fight to protect each other, to survive for one another.He smiled lightly at the song and hummed along with it, slowly singing it, low and quiet at first before he really sounded smooth as silk and tempered a gold rang out all through the mansion."You fascinated me, cloaked in shadows and secrecy...the beauty of a broken angel." Ladra sang softly as if impossible, only girls should have sounded that beautiful, but it had a nice chime to it along with a natural mixture of his own soft boyish voice."Come on, Ladra, let your melodic voice be heard as mine!" He chuckled and sang along with him as he encouraged him to sing as well.Ladra felt shy at the moment and held back from singing anymore as he just continued to wash the last of the dirty dishes.He sighed and chuckled as the wolf petted his head. "You'll come out of that shell one day, and everyone will envy you.""I'd rather not." The boy left the dishes there to dry as he

turned to walk up the stairs in the middle of the foyer."It'll happen whether or not you want to dude, trust me." He said as he followed the boy upstairs, admiring the architecture of the house.
