#5 of Chronicling Memew: Old

Sef adapts to his new home and Memew finds her situation less then pleasant.

Memew was suddenly aware of a horrible headache that felt like it spread into her muzzle. She sobbed as she grabbed at her head. The piercing pain continued on and on. Too strong for her to focus on anything but that pain. So strong that she failed to notice the passage of time or even when hands firmly handled her.

It wasn't until she felt that she had woken a second time that she could think. A strong ache lingering in her skull as she sat up and raised a hand. The hand stopping before it could reach her head. She looked down to see a strange cord and groaned as she loosely gripped it with the half raised hand. Her eyes closing as she let herself settle down onto her side. The hard flooring sapped her heat through her fur as she curled up. Bringing the now freed arm to her head and slid the other hand up along the cord.

Her fingers found a strip of leather when they reached her neck. Slipping her fingertips behind it she gently stroked her thumb along the bottom of the strip. Opening her eyes again she groggily attempted to take in her surroundings. Brown, she saw a lot of brown and didn't get much further before a throb of her aching head urged her to close her eyes.

When she opened her eyes again she jerked up and yawned softly as she tried to moisten her mouth. Rubbing at her eye for a moment she frowned as she took in the stark white space she found herself in. She stood up and cried out as she struck her head on a surface above her and cried out "OW!! What was that?" Looking up as she put her hands on it and then looked around the rest of the small space. Her brows knitted together as she floated up and put her knees on the ceiling.

Getting a better look around she noticed there were no shadows. "What... is this place?" she questioned openly as she felt out the space. The odd glowing surfaces were quite difficult for her to place them. After several minutes of crawling around from surface to surface she had determined the space was like a cube. She looked around a little as she had lost track of what surface she was on. Her levitation disconnected her from her sense of up and down.

"Uh-oh..." she murmured as she curled up a bit and drifted in the small space. It was plenty for her to sit in if she knew what way was down. Her eyes locked onto the tip of her tail flicking back and forth in front of her. The frown on her face softened and she twisted around to follow her tail back to herself. Continuing to twist around as she grabbed onto it in an effort to hold it in place.

Twisting and grabbing at her tail for several moments until suddenly the six surfaces flashed and died out with a cracking noise. Memew gasped and cried out a bit as she fell on her face. Her legs were bent against the wall as she lifted her head a bit and mumbled, "Found the floor..."

Brushing her tail off her head she sat up and was careful not to rise to quickly. Then she took in just how dark it had gotten. Unseen in the darkness her fur lifted up and would make her look so much bigger. She brought her hands to her chest and felt that her fur was standing on end and frowned as she said, "Aw... I fluffed..." Her fur settling down for a moment as she momentarily forgot it was pitch black. Then she remembered and raised her arms out to her sides. Her fingertips grazing the walls as she began to hyperventilate a bit. Working her feet onto the wall in front of her as she became very aware of the fact she couldn't get out. "I NEED FREEDOM!!!" She cried out as she began to kick at the wall. Curling her hands into fists and slamming them into every surface she could reach.

Within seconds she reached a point that she was screaming out, "LET ME OUT!!" Bellowing those three words again and again as she lashed out in the darkness. Eventually she wore herself down and slumped to the floor as she panted. Pouting as she touched a crack in her bottom lip. Her tongue rasped against it for a few moments until she realized that was only making it worse.

She whined out as her dry throat stung and she sniffed a little. Feebly sliding her claws against the surface before one of her ears perked up. Sitting up as she pressed the ear to the wall and picking up some muffled voices. Shifting herself in order to press the side of her head as firmly to the wall as she could. She held her breath in order to try hearing better. It was difficult for her to figure out what any of the sounds were. At least until there was a loud hiss and the wall she was leaning against suddenly jerked.

Memew let out a scream that turned into coughing when it irritated her throat. Falling forward as the wall swung away from her. She flipped and curled up into a tight ball waiting to hit the ground. Though seconds passed and she felt nothing. Looking down she realized that she was levitating and turned herself upright as she commented, "Oh, yeah..." Smiling and looking around the room for a moment before something jabbed into her side. Sending spasms through her body as she screamed out. The moment it broke contact she fell to the ground sobbing sporadically.

Soon hands gripped her body and something was slipped around her neck as she heard voices, "Well, that scanner is fried." Another voice adding, "Yeah. The boss isn't going to be happy if we can't confirm its presence in this thing." They tugged on whatever was attached to the loop around her neck. Drawing a yelp from Memew. That first voice commented, "We can try wounding it." "We need to get clearance for that first," the other replied to the first. "Ugh, yeah. Damn protocol. Well lets get the beast registered at least. Then we can put in the request and hopefully we'll have clearance to do some cutting by tomorrow."

Memew felt them start to pull her along and she struggled to stay standing as she couldn't seem to levitate anymore. She sobbed as she touched the spot that she had been jabbed. Flinching when her fingers lightly brushed a pair of pretty bad burns. She huffed a bit before saying, "Hey! You mea-ACK!!" A vicious tug on the cord tightened the loop around her neck choking off her air supply and pulling her over. "You aren't to speak to us beast," a particularly large bull spat at her as the fox holding the cord pulled on it to make her stand up.

She grabbed the cord as she sobbed a bit. Losing her defiant attitude quite swiftly as the bull grabbed her tail and pressed on it with his thumb. Memew cried out as the bull stated, "You are going to be silent and not fight us." The fey cat released the cord and held her muzzle as tears began to drip down her cheeks. After a few moments of complying the bull man released the pressure on her tail while still holding onto it.

They led her into a room that had several tools. Memew stifled a noise of fear as her eyes widened. Her ears laying as low as they could while the grip on her tail was released entirely. She glanced over to the bull man for a moment before a tug on the cord had her resume walking. Returning her attention to where she was being taken to.

The fox led her to a strange contraption. The looming possibilities of what they might do to her should she resist had her not putting up any resistance. He picked her up and placed her in the contraption before tapping a button. Memew watched as the fox scowled and hit the button again. Stating, "There's no doubt. This one's a Static." The bull man nodded and typed into a computer on the other side of the room. The fox pulled a lever and began to manually adjust the contraption. Memew whimpered as it was tightened around her. Restraining her completely as it was set and the fox put the lever back into place. Struggling a bit Memew began to breathe quickly as the feeling of being trapped returned.

She began to sob and cry aloud as she feared what they were going to do with her. Suddenly she felt something slipped over either side of her left ears lower side. Her breath caught as she could hear something a moment before two points of pain flared up in her ear. An ID tag now clamped on her ear. Memew whined as the ID number was put into the computer by the bull man.

The bull stood up and said, "It's entered into the system." A moment before he submitted the information the computer glitched. The screen showing static for a fraction of a second before returning with different information.

Memew watched the bull man walk over to her and grab her ear. Holding it in up as the fox put a special clamp in place that covered over a third of her ear. Remembering what had happened the last time something was put over her ear she began to struggle. It was in vain as the bull firmly held her ear so that it didn't budge. The fey cat crying out as the last third of her ear erupted in pain. She sobbed and whimpered as the special clamp was pulled away.

They then released the anchors and Memew hugged herself as she was once again able to move. She fearfully looked up to the fox and bull each in turn before she lowered her ears. Her left ear feeling real strange with the ID tag and the red patch that had just been applied to the inside of the last third. Lowering her head a bit she trembled as she stepped down and curled her tail around her middle. Trying to get herself to lift off the ground while they seemed to talk about something called a storage pen.

Sef yawned as he stretched out. His left arm and leg feeling around the bed for Candy as he slowly came to awareness. After a good several pats he lifted his head and glanced around with one open eye. The white cat was nowhere to be seen.

Pushing himself up into a seated position he rubbed his eyes with his hands. Letting them drift down until they settled on the tube like collar around his neck. He smiled thoughtfully as he stroked the rubbery surface. Remembering when it had been given to him. While he wasn't particularly fond of the collar, he liked that it was part of a set of armor that the caravan had supplied him with. Though he hadn't seen it yet, he had been told it was a blank set. He didn't know what that meant and asking about it didn't make it much clearer.

The rubbery tube around his neck was a soft blue that he was told indicated that he was an Amplifying class. He wasn't sure what that meant but they had given him a set of armor and told him that he was now an official part of this research station's staff. Though his smile faded as his thoughts turned to Memew.

Hopping into the air he drifted to a stack of drawings. They were quite crude, but they were all of either Memew or his home. He pondered what it was she was doing. Smiling he imagined that she had found her way into a similar situation as him. Though knowing her she would likely be causing plenty of trouble. Sighing he looked up to the ceiling for a moment. Unable to completely keep himself from being worried about her. Looking back to his drawings he sifted through them. A sense of homesickness washing over him. He missed the smell of the forest air, the sound of the leaves rustling in the breeze.

He returned the drawings to where he had picked them up from. Stretching out he drifted to the dresser and pulled it open. A hand stroking along his collar as he looked through the clothes that Candy had gotten him from the caravan. He huffed a bit and reached down to pull at the underwear he was wearing. Not that happy with having to wear these clothes. They still felt rather restrictive, but at least he was beginning to forget they were there every now and then.

Sorting through those clothes he smiled a bit as he pulled out a pair of loose fitting shorts. They were his preferred outfit. Only time he had worn a shirt so far was when Candy pressured him to try one on. He found them more irritating then the pants. The way they irritated his skin at the base of his neck. How they weighed down on his shoulders and worse was the joint underneath his arms. He cringed at the memory and shook his head before slipping on the shorts.

Now as dressed as he planned to be, he headed out of the room and headed to the overlook. The caravan was still present and he hoped that he would find Candy there. Without any responsibilities he didn't have much to do. He spent most of his time in the overlook anyway and was had been working on learning to understand the letters that they used.

Reaching the overlook he found that everyone was grouped together around several tables that had been pushed together. Sef blinked a bit and glanced around the room for a moment hoping that he'd see someone relaxing. After completing his sweep of the room he lowered his head and ears a bit. Heading to the group as he relented to the possibility that something was going on. Nearing the table he began to make out bits of the conversation, "It is quite far, but it is under this stations jurisdiction. So you will have to make the journey."

Candy spoke up asking, "Where are we going to get the supplies to make such a trip? If they want us to check out this reactivated area they'll have to give us what we need to make the trip." The previous voice having belonged to a particularly grizzled looking grizzly replied, "What do you think we spent the last several days trying to do?" He slammed his fist down onto the table in frustration before sighing and rubbing the bridge of his muzzle. "They say it's urgent and that you must leave immediately. It was made clear that any further delays will result in severe consequences."

Marnam grunted before saying, "Fine. Is there anything you could spare us?" The grizzly looked to the lion for a moment before he glanced over his shoulder to another member of the caravan and asking, "What do we have?" Numbers were thrown around rapidly for several seconds before the grizzly returned his attentions and said, "We can spare a case of charge rods and three cases of ration bars." Nodding the leader of the station answered, "Thanks. Do we have to cover the costs now?" The grizzly shook his head before saying, "No. We'll charge your superiors." A couple of those gathered chuckled at that before Marnam stated, "Thanks. You can leave them in the entry." He then focused on those that resided in the station before saying, "Alright everyone. You have half an hour to prepare for the trip. If we must leave today we are going to get going as soon as possible."

Sef watched everyone abruptly stand up. His attention remaining on the members of the caravan as they began to collect their things. Looking to Marnam, Candy, Ell, and Derrick as they began to head off to acquire their gear. The fey yelped out as Candy firmly gripped his tail and gave it a soft tug as she stated, "Come on Sef. You're going to be participating in your first mission." He was pulled along rather effortlessly as he glanced to Candy and then to Marnam and the caravan members as he said, "But... I don't know what's happening..."

Candy grumbled and said, "We have to go investigate a section of an old city that has come back online." Turning about Sef began to travel alongside her under his own power as he asked, "On a line?" Candy looked and him and giggled a bit before saying, "No. Online. All the old network cables are connected to the network we use today. It's all like one big web. Just some get so far that we no longer know what's there." Sef nodded understanding it a little better as he asked, "So they want us to go and see what's there?"

Nodding Candy said, "Yes, the problem is that it's a really long way and we don't have what we need to get there." Sef furrowed his brow a little as he asked, "Then why are we going?" Candy didn't answer right away as she looked quite upset. Sef watched her with concern for several seconds before he asked, "Are you okay?" While she didn't look at him she did answer, "Yeah, I'm alright. The company just made me so frustrated is all." Reaching their room she opened the door and stepped inside with Sef.

Watching her open the armor compartment and remove Sef's unfitted armor. Looking at it Sef couldn't imagine how it was going to fit him. He wasn't all that sure how things worked in this place, but he knew that you needed to know how big to make something that was rigid. His gaze lowered to the floor for a moment as he remembered the bark that certain members of the village would wear when honoring the dead. He knew firsthand that unless you had the person with you it was hard to size them right. Clasping his hands together as his thoughts lingered on his village home.

Gasping he lifted his head and looked to Candy to see her looking at him and seeming a bit concerned. Asking, "Hey? You alright?" as she wiped some moisture from the corner of his eye. Sef raised his arms and put them over his ears as he pulled them to his head. Lowering his eyes a little as he said, "Yeah... was just thinking about home..." She set the blank armor aside and pulled Sef into a hug. Whispering to him as she stroked his back, "It's okay. I know you miss your home."

He let her hold him for a moment before he pushed on her while lowering his arms from his ears. Candy kissed him on the forehead before she said, "Okay. Now we can get you fitted to your armor." She set him on the floor in front of herself and turned her upper body to retrieve something. Sef glanced away blushing a little as his hands settled in his lap as he sat. He liked that bit of affection in a way that he wasn't quite comfortable with. Though he did his best to shake it off as Candy returned her attention to him.

"Alright I'm going to put the priming hood on you. When it's on I want you to go, 'Ahh...' like you were singing alright?" Candy instructed as she held up what looked like a clump of loose fibers. Though as she pulled it apart it spread open and seemed to be some kind of webbing. Sef tilted his head a little and looked at the strange material as though it were something dangerous.

Candy giggled and said, "Don't worry. This is so the helmet can size to your head without invading your ears or muzzle." She gently took hold of his wrist and had him touch the material. His apprehension melted away as he felt the material. It was so soft and thin that he could hardly believe it was there. He started to press more firmly on it when Candy urged him to be careful not to damage it. Spending a second more marveling at it before taking his hand away and asking, "Does it always work?"

The larger of the two felines smiled and told the smaller, "Most of the time." She then chuckled as Sef's eyes widened and then she quickly adding, "I'm joking. I've never heard of it failing. The SR is programmed to liquify if it somehow makes it into an orifice anyway." It didn't calm Sef as much as Candy would have liked so she worded it a little differently, "If it gets inside you while it's fitting to you. It will all melt off." That was when she saw the relief she was looking for.

She then slipped the hood over Sef's head. The netting conforming to Sef's head perfectly as it created a sort of barrier along the open side of his ears. Candy let him adjust to having it on his head as she picked up the blank helmet. The helmet was a large hollow bubble of rubber that glittered from the metallic traces in it. She then said, "Take a deep breath. This next part is going to make you unable to breathe for a few moments." Looking him in the eyes as she took her tail in her hand and guided it to his. Saying, "Don't worry. You can hold onto my tail and..." pausing as she winced a little, "...if you get too scared you can bend it..." She was obviously uncomfortable with giving him permission to hurt her, but she only had so much time to get him fitted.

Sef nodded and said, "Alright..." His ears' flicking a bit subdued as he was obviously quiet conscious of the netting despite the fact it was thin enough and soft enough it was like there was nothing there. He could see it but that was his only sign that it was there. Taking a couple breaths he pulled the end of Candy's tail close and took in one final deep breath. Candy yelped a bit and grabbed the blank helmet before putting it on Sef's head.

The small child sized feline jumped a bit as the bubble like helmet suddenly closed around his entire head. He shivered a bit as it felt like there was dry water flowing over his fur. The way it both had a raspy sound and sounded like a stream made his fur puff up as a wave of cold moved through him. The sensation of that flowing feeling and the soft object over his head becoming hard and rigid further unsettled him. Still he held on tightly to Candy's tail. Even as a burning feeling started in his lungs and then finally he heard Candy say, "Okay, breathe."

He took a couple quick breaths before hesitantly letting go of Candy's tail. Moving his hands up to the helmet and touching it. The surprise he felt when he touched the cold hard metallic surface caused him to open his eyes. Blinking as he saw the room through a tinted lens. The visor had a particularly strange effect on his field of view. Just beyond his detailed vision his view seemed to be slightly compressed allowing him to see more.

Sef groaned as he had some difficulty adjusting to the shift in his vision. He looked around to see that it had the same effect of compressing his peripheral vision without effecting what he was directly looking at regardless of how he moved his eyes. Candy used the armor key that came with the blank set to remove Sef's visor. Looking into his disoriented gaze she commented, "Yeah, the periphery expander takes some getting used to." The fey cat nodded a bit absently as he closed his eyes. He forgot about the soft elastic material that had turned into cold hard metal as he moved a hand over his eyes.

Candy began to work the blank chest piece onto him. She had him raise his hands over his head as she lifted the blank that resembled an extremely thick long sleeved shirt. Guiding his arms into the sleeves as she tugged it down. It didn't take much effort to get the overly large blank on him. Once it was in place it began to look as though it were melting and began conforming to Sef's body. Just as the helmet had, the blank changed to the color of Sef's collar as it pulled together to fit.

Pulling the leggings over to her side as she kept an eye on the armor's progress. Observing as the pale blue rubber finished adjusting to Sef's size and began to condense as it began to take form. The rubber integrating the metal traces as the rubber itself arranged its molecules. Hard metal plates forming on Sef as the individual plates started to gain definition.

Simple plates held together with a system of grooves and ridges. Allowing the plates to have as much range of motion as possible. All the extra material that was getting left over began to form up into pauldrons on his shoulders. The left one much larger then the right which was just a single plate. His left pauldron had several segments that reached down to his elbow. Arm plating followed the formation of the pauldrons and his left arm was more heavily plated then his right.

He jerked a bit as a very sharp agonizing pain erupted at the base of his skull, though it was over and gone before he could understand it happened. His visor flashed and it began to generate programming for his HUD. Several long strings of this worlds letters flashed past his eyes. Faster then he would have been able to keep up with had he been able to understand them. A brain link that was the reason for the pain began to analyze his nervous system. Creating a strong connection to his sensory system from the base of his skull down due to the ease of access to his spinal column. Next it sent tendrils to venture deeper into his brain where it set up much fainter connections. Analyzing as it worked to interpret the signals. Matching various signals to its database as it began to personalize itself to him. The long strings of words shrinking to a corner of the HUD as an eclipsed moon took up much of the visor. Slowly creeping towards a full moon as the system worked to innitialize.

An interface formed on his right arm and linked into his armor as gloves formed on his hands. Plate's covering the backs as a softer material was created on the undersides of his hands. The excess of material from the blank fell from his completed upper body armor and began to flow together.

Candy held up the blank leggings as she said, "Last piece." Sef looked to her as the moon in the center of his view was now a quarter moon. He hopped up into the air and softly grunted as it actually took him a small bit of effort to become airborne.

He looked down a bit curiously as Candy removed the clothing he was wearing. Glancing back up as he heard, "You'll likely be wearing this for the next few weeks so it'll have to have access so that it can... um take care of certain needs..." The fey cat furrowed his brows a bit as that loose garment was pulled onto him. His mind brought to his attention the precautions that had been taken to keep the material from invading the openings in his head.

Squeaking he pulled his hands to his plated chest and was slightly distracted by how different it felt. Though the feeling of the next blank beginning to form to his lower body pulled his attention back. It made him squirm as he felt the material pull tight to his rump and then some begin to press at his tailhole. At the same time the material was cupping his sheath and balls. The sensations brought a light moan from his lips as a tendril slipped up his anal ring. Slowly expanding in order to gradually stretch his pucker as more flowed inside.

Sef was squirming oddly in the air as he tried not to fight the thing invading him. Trusting that it was supposed to. It helped that Candy was trying to comfort him through his armor as that material up his rear formed a mechanism to expel waste from him. Another invader grabbed his attention and he yelped out as it rushed into his urethra. The feeling was odd, but the way the soft material moved it wasn't entirely unpleasant. Though it delved deep inside him and it continued to make him squirm as he couldn't feel the end after it had delved deep enough. The length of it he could still feel moving around.

Once it stopped he let out a sigh and blinked as he looked down and saw his covered legs. Flexing his legs he noticed that the armor was quite comfortable. It was surprisingly comfortable with the hard plates and rather tight fit. The various plates connected in just a way that they had complete freedom when sliding over each other, but would stand up to a substantial impact.

Though almost every movement shifted that thing up his tail-side. He grunted and shifted as that invading object just felt bizarre. It kept him distracted as Candy stripped down and began to put on her own armor. Her's already sized and fitted to her form and making her have to assemble the armor around her body. Piecing the halves together two at a time.

Sef remained quite focused on his own armor. Marveling at how well it fit him without anything being too tight or it catching and restricting his movement. Down to his boots that were quartered plates that moved in a way that he could spread his paws. It was fascinating in how such a thing could be possible. Even with magic none of the crafters in his village could produce something that behaved in this way. They could make something hard into something pliant, but this was different. It was made of countless hard plates that moved along with him. Somehow able to know how his body moved just by covering him.

His ears however were frustratingly held still. Reaching his hands up he felt over the helmet. It was quite thick with a ridge along his hair. The last two bunches on the back of his head were allowed outside his helmet. Following the base of his left ear to his temple his fingers found a button. Pressing it he flinched as a click echoed through his helmet and a light seemed to appear in his field of view. Putting his hands on his visor it seemed that that wasn't where the light was. As he pulled back his hands the light was briefly blocked off. Moving his hands back he noticed the light blocked again and glanced to his hands. His left was lit up.

It seems there was something in his helmet that could give off light. He fumbled for the spot that he had found the button and once he found it pushed on it again. The light got a bit brighter so he pushed it again and sighed as it went away. His attention then returned to the image on his visor. The moon was quite a bit more complete now then it had been before.

Candy was fully armored by the time he turned his attention back to her. Though she wasn't wearing her faceplate. She knelt down and then slipped Sef's armor key from a slot along his jawline. She then took his hand and placed it on his key and said, "This is how you would remove this armor." Taking his hand with the key up to the lock on his forehead and then one on either temple.

He watched the images fade from his visor and the sound of rushing air echoed through his helmet as the seal was broken. The light tint of his visor slipping out of his line of sight before he looked up to Candy. Blinking a bit as she released his hand and held onto his visor. He looked to the small piece of metal that was the key to his armor and then felt for its slot. Taking nearly a minute to find the slot before he then slid it back into place. Releasing it as he felt it click into place.

The cat in front of him then handed him his visor as she said, "Now lets go meet up with the others. They'll be wanting us to help prepare the supplies." Sef gave her a nod as he took his visor from her and lightly touched the back of his head before following her out of the room.

Memew lay curled up on a dirty pillow that was too small for her to completely fit on. The small room she was in was barren aside from the pillow, a bowl of water and a bowl of small pellets. She couldn't fathom how long she had been in this room, but it had been long enough for her to fall asleep a couple times.

One of her hands lifted up to her tagged ear and rubbed the plate along the inside of its end. She had grown bored so long ago when she tired of being yelled at for playing with her food. If you could call those stale pellets food. Sitting up from the pillow she stretched out some and lightly hopped up into the air. Preferring not to touch the cold floor ever since those shocks had worn off and allowed her to levitate once again.

She made her way towards the bowls and looked into the water. Smiling a little in the comfort of the clean water. Huffing a bit as she looked to the heavy metal door and commented, "At least they can get that right..." Squeaking and grabbing her mouth as a black panther glanced into her room through the thick window on the door. Blinking a little as she prayed to the nature spirits that he hadn't heard her.

Letting out a sigh as he left her door alone. She then looked back down to the water and scooped some up with her hands. Splashing it on her face and letting out a happy sigh. Smiling as she scooped up some more and then drank it this time. Missing how her home kept her from feeling thirst or hunger, but still enjoying the feel of the cool clean water flowing down her throat.

Her ears flicked as she detected some speech and glanced back to the water bowl before sticking her hands into the water. Then bringing her sodden hands to her breasts and rubbing her nipples for a moment and letting out a giggle. It was after this last action that her curiosity won out and brought her to the outer wall of her room.

Pressing an ear to a cluster of holes in the wall. Listening to what they said, "This the one that was recovered from that waste rat colony?" Memew tried to look out to see them as a separate voice stated, "Records seem to indicate that." She managed to catch sight of the panther but little else as he spoke up again, "This one doesn't seem to fit the description in the database... it matters not. Take him to have it extracted from him." Memew heard the second voice gave a confirmation before the cell beside hers opened. Her ears dropped as she heard the occupant shout out for mercy as he was dragged away. The panther's voice coming again as he stated, "Finally. It is mine."

All she could hear after that statement was the two figures dragging away their captive. Still what she had heard, made a wave of cold drop through her body. She pulled her arms up to her chest and shuddered as she let out a sob. Returning to her pillow as she began to cry.
