Survival Bastion - Chapter 01 - Bomb!

Daa was making breakfast at the kitchen of the manor, and lifted his head as he saw that Vero was awake and coming down the stairs. Good morning, Vero, how are you this fine day? He asked, as he took the fried eggs out of the frying pan.

Vero looks up at Daa, with tears of sleep running down her face. However, she was so groggy that she didn't seem to notice them. Ehh, so so. She grumbles as she follows the scent of eggs that she just caught a whiff off. Vero always considered Daa's cooking to be much better than her own.

Daa smiles as he brings the eggs and the salt to the table, as he then lays down on the floor, with his chest on above the table, and starts to unfold his napkin as he picks up a fork and a knife. Hungrily he waits for his friend, and then as she sits he says: Bon appettit, I hope the eggs are ok.

Vero picks up the knife and fork and swaps them in her hands, as they were on the wrong side as far as she's concerned, and drowsily starts eating. As she kept eating though her ears start to pick up and life starts to enter her eyes. It suddenly occurred to her that Daa told her bon appettit, Thanks, your eggs are always the best. She replies as a response.

Daa smiles meekly at the chakat, and then after they are done Spoof the mouse comes over, still groggy. I'll get it, you two go wash or whatever you usually do, Christel wants to see all of us in the main room in an hour. The mouse turns on the water, and starts washing the dishes. Right, Spoof, always the helping hand around here.

Vero helps Spoof clean up the dishes, making sure that every sud from Spoof's washing is clean off the individual dishes and utensils. When she finishes, she goes up stairs and puts on her best outfit; a dress that has flower patterns all over it. The shape of the dress moulds perfectly with her shape, and it follows the shape of her breasts nicely. Vero's always keen to impress Christel, her mistress.

Daa then goes to his shed, and starts rummaging his unkempt room, as he puts on two pair of jeans, one on his front legs and the other pair on his rear. The taur puts on also a red shirt with squares and lines on it, as he then parts for the main room. He sees that Vero has come down from her room, and smiles at her. You look astounding! I'm sure Christel will be pleased.

Vero blushes deeply, T-Thanks. She manages to stammer. She goes over to her favourite couch and lies down on it. Not that it looks much lying down, but it's the second closest thing to sitting a chakat can do anyway. So, what are we going to do today, Daa? She asks, before Christel comes into the room.

Christel looks at everyone gathered in the main room, as everyone looked at her. She wore her usual outfit, a pair of blue jeans and a Rolling Stones t-shirt. Daa could see that something was clouding her mind, from afar, as she spoke. Folks, we are in times of trouble. We have received a note from the town mayor, the note is basically this. When and If the bomb strikes, we need to go to the Bastion, 5 miles away from here, and if anyone cannot reach it there are rings for us to wear at all times. Spoof obediently comes forth, and gives each a ring, heart shaped, and when the light comes over it it shines in multiple colours. The way to use these rings is simple, just say in times of need: I am Christel, let me pass, And with that she began to fade, as she then entered the room again by the front door.

Vero grabs a ring from Spoof as he was handing them out, and then she walks over to Christel. But, mistress, if a bomb's falling wouldn't we want to be closer to the shelter than here?

Christel smiles at Vero's incomprehension, and tells everyone: These rings are made specially for us, the manor is giving great wealth for these rings, keep them safe, they will get you wherever you imagine in an instant, just make sure you create an image of where you want to go and the ring will take you there. Daa walks to the hyena, and says: Nifty tricks you got us, sister.

Vero nods and hugs Christel, and then silently walks out into the garden as she always does at this hour pondering what she had been told at this moment. She starts watering the garden, and weeding the occasional weed.

The hyena taur smiles at the two hugging, and then he exits for his shed, as he walks to get his gardening tools, taking care of the trees and the bushes. He walks to a good sized tree, and starts to climb it, to get the dead branches down to the floor.

Now finished with her gardening, Vero goes back upstairs and changes into her maid outfit and goes back into the kitchen and starts making sandwiches for everyone as it was getting near lunch time. It's amazing how quickly time passes! She says out loud to herself. Catching herself by surprise by how loudly she said it. She blinks and looks around hoping that no one heard it. She's always self conscious about looking stupid around everyone.

Daa is busy working hard on the trees. He then hears the manor's bell, meaning it is lunchtime. He takes away a few branches and goes to the manor's front door, as he then starts to pick up one of the sandwiches, smiling to Vero. Thanks, I was hungry.

Vero finishes up the last few sandwiches and eats with Daa. She's got a deep blush, even though she always tries her best, she's not good at accepting a compliment. Thank you. She replies meekly.

Daa is aware the chakat has the hots for him, but he simply cannot take up right now any mates, he is happy being single. As he eats he smiles to her kindly, and picks up another sandwich, going back to the garden of the manor.

Veronica heads towards the room where Christel is in, and stops in her tracks, when she sees the very thing that Christel was talking about falling out of the sky. She just completely freezes up out of fear.

Daa saw it earlier than anybody because he had been cutting the branches and looking up he spots the war plane. Everybody in, incoming! He shouts, while starts running hard towards the manor, and as the bomb strikes in the main town everything turns out in flames.

Vero being glad that she's survived the bombing is still terrified, she hugs Christel, her body wrapping around, and her tails squeezing around the two of them. She's simply too petrified to make a decision.

Christel looks out the window, and exclaims: I-It's a nuke! They threw a nuke at Alianopolis! Everyone, take cover! The blast is coming our way! As she takes shelter under the window cell, cowering back to the back of the room with Vero.

Vero takes the majority of what hit of the blast from Christel. She survives however an ear has a massive chunk taken out of it, and most of her fur looks singed, but she doesn't seem to notice the pain yet, but it did take energy away from her. Vero looks tiredly at Christel, and crosses the room to see the damage that was just created. I can't believe it.

The hyena stands up from the crouching position she was in, and goes to the window as well. She cannot believe her eyes, the entire front porch was up in flames, and all the trees were ablaze. We gotta get out of here, quick, use the ring! As she then began to fade, slowly, then she was out of the room, as the ceiling began to fall, crumbling down.

Vero puts on her ring, remembering that she hadn't put it on yet. She doesn't quite know where she wants to go well enough, so she conjures up her most vivid images of Christel, hoping that it will take her to safety, and hoping that everyone else will be there when she reappears. Upon reappearing, she finds herself next to Christel, but she's not in the Shelter; at least it doesn't appear to be so.

Christel was in the middle of a vast room, it was Morpheus' realm, the land of the Dreamers, the only real place that was safe enough to be at at that very moment. Vero was unaware of it, but as she vanished a large chunk of the ceiling fell where she was, and trapped her tail before she could totally get out of there. As a result, her tail was severed, and Christel runs up to her, taking her in her arms as she fell.
