Seth found a blue snake in his backyard a while back, now something's odd going on, and he think's it may have something to do with his snake...

I hope you all enjoy the story, I would love to hear what you think of the story! ^_^

It was another quiet night, the neighbors were already asleep and the dogs were dreaming of bones. Seth smiled to himself as he slipped into the basement, taking care not to wake up the other pets. He couldn't stand having them barking while he was visiting the denizens of his basement. There was the constant dripping noise that he was so accustomed to. When he bought the house he had known about it. Apparently there was a leak in the basement, but the owner had never found it but as there had never been any signs of serious water damage and it didn't really bother Seth.

Stepping down lightly onto the concrete floor, Seth narrowed his eyes as he searched for the light cord. He reached out in an attempt to grab it. "Come on..." he muttered to himself, but the light cord evaded him for a few moments longer before he finally snatched the thin line and pulled it down to turn on the light bulb. The bulb flashed on allowing Seth to see around the damp basement. The room was relatively normal. It had a washer and dryer along with a pile of dirty laundry.

But what set Seth's basement apart was the large tank in the corner of the room, inside it was steamy from a humidifier in the corner of the large dome. Seth smiled as he stepped over to it, feeling a sort of calm wrap around him. Inside was a beautiful blue snake, its tongue flicking out every now and then to taste the air. The snake was Seth's pride and joy, he had found it when he had moved into his house.

It had been snaking its way through his backyard when he had been weeding the grass, Seth had always carried a certain fascination with the species. But this snake... it was completely different than anything the man had seen before, its scales carried a sheen unlike any other snake. And its body seemed to be covered in some sort of slime, when he had picked it up with his gloves he had thought it might've slipped away, but instead it seemed to coil into his hands willingly.

At first Seth had put the snake in an old fish tank that he had, but as he studied the creature he realized that the fish tank was far too small for the creature to comfortably live. So began Seth's personal project, he had taken it upon himself to custom order a special dome and humidifier from an offshore company for his snake, setting aside a portion of his basement for the little creature.

Seth had to be careful though, as his dogs had a track record of eating snakes . He had watched the dogs slurp them down as if they were pieces of spaghetti. The sight had sickened the man more than he'd like to admit, and so every night he would quietly slip into his basement to watch the snake. He had tried to feed the snake before, but it seemed to need no food; just water.

So Seth had hooked up a small system to his water system which deposited a bowl of water every morning and night for the snake, it seemed to enjoy bathing in the liquid and he had watched as it absorbed the liquid through its skin like a sponge. Seth wrote down many of his observations down about it, for five months now it had lived in the tank peacefully. Even a few times he had experimented with holding it , and never had the snake bitten him to his relief.

And so as Seth watched the snake tonight, he noted that the dripping sound seemed a bit louder than usual. "I hope that the crack hasn't gotten any bigger..." he muttered, the matter was inconsequential to him but still the thought was there. The snake seemed to notice this as well as Seth had seen that the snake seemed more lively today than usual, it would coil up every now and then and then look towards the water heater.

This fact didn't escape Seth's notice, he himself would look at the water heater every now and then. The dripping was getting really loud, he couldn't ignore this fact for much longer. "Dang it... I guess I'd best check it, I don't want any cords short circuiting because of a drip," Seth said as he stood up and brushed himself off, his chair squeaking in relief of the man's pressure disappearing.

Walking towards the water heater, Seth frowned as he kneeled next to it. The dripping really was loud, but still he saw no sign of any water stains. He laid on his chest and reached his hand under, he shivered a bit as the fear of spiders biting him rose up, but he felt no spider webs. He grunted as he felt around for the drip before he felt it, it was cool and gooey, not feeling like water at all . "What the..." but Seth's train of thought was cut off by a very sudden pain in his hand, it was the feeling of an animal biting deep into his hand. "Ouch!" Seth screamed, his head slammed against the water heater painfully as he quickly pulled his hand out.

Seth found the world going into double vision as pain arced through his head, he couldn't look at his hand as he tried to still the nausea rising up his throat. It took him a moment, but after a while he was able to see straight again. Lifting his hand, Seth saw that his hand had two bite marks, though they were odd. There was no blood for one thing, and the other was the blue goo leaking from the wounds.

By no means were the holes small, if Seth were in a better mood he would say how they looked like holes in Swiss cheese, but the thought was sickening. "What makes this kind of bite?" he asked himself, biting his lip as a wave of pain flowed from his hand. Seth pulled himself to his feet, being careful not to push his hand against anything. As he stumbled towards the snake's tank, he found himself oddly unsurprised that the snake inside was gone.

Feeling numb, Seth pulled himself upstairs out of the basement. Seth stepped out and found all of his dogs awake, but they were all looking at something before them. There was the snake, its eyes locked with their own. Seth wanted to tell the dogs to get away, but he didn't, instead he watched as the snake was taken apart by the three dogs. The trio acting oddly calm as they each took a bite of the snake, Seth's stomach heaved as the snake disappeared.

Once the dogs finished they all stood there for a moment, looking dazed before they all whined in discomfort. Seth watched in horror as they all turned into a blue liquid like state and splashed to the ground. The human walked to the puddles and kneeled next to them, the liquid looked similar to the stuff coming out of the wound in his hand.

After a moment, the liquid shook and reformed into several snakes similar to the original. Seth watched on as they looked at one another and hissed, he knew that they used to be his dogs and that he should feel something, but instead he just looked on with an eerie calmness. The snakes all looked at him for a moment before sliding towards the basement door and sliding right underneath.

"This is weird..." Seth said in the understatement of the year, everything was changing rapidly about his life but he didn't feel panicked. He glanced back to his hand and saw that it had taken on a blue sheen, his fingernails had disappeared and in their place claws had slid out. They appeared to be fingernails in their own right, and even though they were made out of liquid he knew that they could easily tear through anything he set them against.

There was the sound again, dripping, and as it reached Seth's ears he found himself walking towards the source. He opened the door to the basement once more, he wanted to get away, leave the house. But it wasn't happening, his legs stepped from one step as the hypnotic dripping sounded through the air. Sitting in the middle of the basement was a naga, his face snakelike gleaming a shining blue color. He gazed at Seth as the human approached. "There you are, I was wondering when you'd get here," he said as he straightened up.

Seth grunted his eyes saw where the dripping was coming from. There was a steady drip of the blue goo from the naga's tail, and as he noticed it the drip finally stopped and the room was silent. "I'm so glad that you came to my house," the naga said, his face split in a huge grin. "I've been needed a brother for some time now, though every person that's lived in this house always freaked out about snakes whenever they saw one of my little snakes." He then gestured to the snakes surrounding him.

"But not you... no Seth, you took care of one of my snakes. You showed that you really care..." The naga drew closer, his latex skin glimmering in the dim lighting of the basement. "You're the one I want for a brother..."

That word again, brother. Seth didn't know why, but it sent shivers up his spine. He had never thought of anyone as a brother before... Up Seth's skin the blue goo spread, the naga reached forward and with his claw cut the clothing from the human's body. As the clothes fell to the ground, latex scales were revealed. His upper body looked relatively normal, save for the blue goo and scales that his skin was now comprised of.

Lower though was a different story, Seth's legs started to fuse into a long blue naga tail. Even though it was made out of goo, it was powerful in appearance and Seth could even feel the power running through the appendage. Seth found himself leaning towards the naga, hanging on his every word... "Your name Seth, I've heard it before mentioned by many of the visitors. But no, naga like us don't need a name."

This thought confused Seth, he found himself drifting back into reality but then that dripping sound once more started and he found himself starting right back into the naga's beautiful blue eyes... "Names are for those humans who need to be recognized, but nagas such as we have no need for recognition in such a way. Brothers don't need to formally recognize each other, we already know..."

The explanation made sense to Seth... he didn't need a name when he had a brother, his naga brother. Seth's vision blurred for a moment as the goo overtook his head; his hair fell away from his scalp to the ground. "So, what is your name brother?" the naga asked.

"Seth." Seth responded, but the naga tutted and that sound started again... the dripping...

"Brother, you have no names. Seth is some human that you've heard of, but you aren't him. You are my brother, a fellow naga in need of no name." brother explained.

Naga nodded slowly, the name Seth stuck in his head but for a moment longer and then it was gone. "What is your name brother?" brother asked once more.

"I have no name brother." Naga explained, he only thought of himself as Naga, though he truly had no name for their species needed no name such as the humans had.

"Good," his brother said as his snakes started to slither towards the new naga under his notice, "now brother, will you stay still for but a moment?"

The original naga's snakes slid right into Naga, the naga twisted in discomfort as the snakes invaded his mind. They didn't remove his human memories, they would be there as a reminder of his lower life. But instead they implanted new ones, of his life as a naga, and of his life with brother. Naga hissed for a moment before he opened his eyes, blue orbs that had no defining features. His body rippled with pleasure as he looked at brother. "Brother, what plans do we have for today?" he asked.

"We are to clean up the upstairs of the house, the previous tenant has left as of today. We need to clean up so that the next humans can come and we can see if we might find another brother," brother hissed, his smile real.

Memories of Naga's human life surfaced, he knew that he had been the previous human tenant but he didn't really care. Life went on for the gooey nagas, and who knows, if you find their house you might just find a snake in the backyard that seems a bit... odd.
