#1 of Miss Zensha

My first attempt at writing a novel, I'll be expanding on it more at a later date, but I'd love some opinions on it, thanks for reading ^,..,^

"Miss Zensha?" urged a middle aged maid as she nudged the slender young who lay in her luxury four-poster bed.

Light shone in to the large, expensive room reflecting off the various vases and precious metals. The girl groaned and rolled out of her bed, falling with a slap onto the hard marble floor. "Ow..." she moaned sarcastically as she slowly pulled herself to her feet. "Why do we have marble floors again?"

"It's the latest trend miss" the maid replied fixing the girls bed.

"Well it's hard and cold." Zensha wined throwing her long silky white hair back before yawning wide. "What's on my schedule for today?"

"You're having lunch with the Vargs at 2 and attending a dinner party at 7. Your father also wishes to see you after breakfast."

"Great..." Zen smirks weakly. "I'll be in my bath, prepare my clothing for the day" she commanded as she dropped her silk robe to the floor.

Meanwhile...

"Hit him!"

"Kill the mutt Oleg!"

The huge taur swung his massive rock of a fist into the bloodied muzzle of a young limping wolf who responded with a chilling whimper. The drunken Taur let out a triumphant moo as the crowd called for more blood. The wolf however had retreated near to the back of the tavern and was licking his wounds; trying to figure his way out of the fight.

"Hey kid."

The pup felt something hard jab into his back. He quickly turned around, whimpering as his ribs complained, he found a hooded figure handing him a wooden handled knife. The young wolf grabbed it desperately and hid it under his arm just as the taur turned back to face him.

"Kill him!" the crowd cried, at the height of their drunken frenzy.

The daunting taur let out another moo as he charged the wolf pup: 300 pound of pure muscle chasing the pup into a corner. A loud whimper and a crunch echoed round the dingy tavern as the wolf was crushed against the wall. The crowd roared, satisfied with the violence as they sorted out bets and refills.

"Hey Oleg, nice job buddy." Greeted a lanky rat as he carried a tankard over to the slumped taur. "I'm so glad you kicked that little pickpocket's ass for me" *he grinned pushing the tankard against the taur. "...Oleg?"

The boy lay panting in a wet cold ally as the sounds of enraged violence echoed from the tavern across the block. He began to lick his wounds and sort out his matted wet grey fur as footsteps grew closer and closer to him: The hooded figure from earlier walked up to him and crouched down. The boy panicked, with his right arm holding his crack ribs together, he was in no shape to fight.

"Need some more help kid?" He asked lowering his hood showing his redish brown fur and his ragged wolf features.

The younger wolf nodded, knowing there's no way he'd survive out on his own now.

The man smiled warmly taking out a flask of water. "I never got your name." The man asks looking the boy over. He had dark fur and deep amber eyes, his hair was long and shaggy like his fur.

"Lupus Vette." The boy said quickly, grabbing the flask and downing it quickly.

The man chuckles. "Nice to meet you Lupus. Do you have anywhere to stay tonight?"

Lupus shook his head handing the flask back.

"Then you can stay with me." The man grinned clearly not taking no for answer as he offered a paw up to Lupus. "I'm Sean by the way."

The two travelled through the dusty, worn city of Bile: ducking down darkened alleyways to avoid rowdy drunken crowds and slaver patrols while waving away black market merchants and prostitutes. Eventually, a small hanger appeared through the smog. It was on the outskirts of the city and could have no more than 4 ships lupus guessed as Sean lead him to one of the moorings where he promptly pointed out the Skyrow. 'His ship' he declared proudly.

Lupus looked up in both awe and fear at the floating majestic galley. It reminded him of the imperial sail ships that used to stop off in the main harbour for shore leave, only instead of sails and a rudder, this marvel had armoured balloons and propellers.

Sean began to climb the rope ladder up to the ship, pausing and glancing back when he realised lupus didn't follow.

"I...I don't like heights..." Lupus admitted lowering his large lupine ears.

"I'll let you in on a secret kid, neither did I when I first started out." He smiles quickly before boarding the ship.

Lupus wrestled with the idea for a little before joining him: a nervous knotting sensation filled his stomach and pushed away the pain in his chest as he climbed. On board, he found the ship had a sturdy wooden deck, which was a patch work of worn and new planks. Upon a closer look, he saw a flight of stairs which disappeared below deck behind the main bolt which held the biggest balloon down. There was a second floor over the bow under which was a large machine that, through large metal armoured pipes, pumped air into the balloons to keep the ship air born. On top of the deck were various machines, all strapped down and covered by tarps. There was a similar structure at the stern, only this had walls round the space in-between the plat form and the deck making it into a spacious room which was accessible by the closed door in-between the two flights of stairs that allowed access to the roof of the room which had two small propeller engines on and two propellers that protruded off it alongside similar contraptions on the other platform. All round the deck and atop of the platforms there were iron railings, with various gaps in between, presumably for boarding.

Sean smirked as Lupus took it all in. "Come on kid, let's get you fixed up." He led lupus down past a deck filled with various crates to a second deck which had roughly 10 hammocks, each with its own metal chest. At the end of the room there were four rooms along a corridor, the two approached the far left one and Sean knocked on the door. It swung open quickly and a dominating, brown furred she wolf stood in the door frame. She wore a open brown trench coat over a blood red tank top and a black corset. Heavy armoured pants concealed her powerful legs as she stepped back to let them in.

"Back already? I thought you said the job would take two days?" She mockingly growled, acting disappointment at Sean's return.

The large male smirked and kissed her. "I got distracted." He gestured to Lupus, who was looking even worse after his journey here.

"He a new deckhand?" She asked looking the pup over, seeming to soften up a little.

"Not exactly." Sean said, seeming unsure himself as he grabbed a chunk of meat from the table aside the she wolfs double bed. "Fix him up,, we'll talk when I get back." He commanded with a wide grin as he slapped the woman's ass as he left, closing the door behind him.

The woman looked Lupus over, relaxing her thick muscles. "I'm Velt, Sean's mate she stated proudly, dragging a plain wooden chair over. "Sit."

Lupus sat.

"What's your name then pup?" She asked squatting in front of him.

"Lupus Vette." He said with a whimper, his jaw swollen from the blows to his face earlier.

Velt looked him over, gently turning his head to look at his facial wounds. "What happened?"

"I got in a little fight" he says, wincing as she touched a sensitive spot.

"Sorry." She starts pressing on lupus torso, watching his reactions. "Nothing to bad, a few treatments and you'll be back on your paws in no time." She smiled warmly.

"Th-thanks." Lupus smiles, wagging his bushy tail a little.

"You're welcome." She smiles back, appreciating his manners. "You can take those rags off too, if you're staying you might as well have some warm clothing that isn't filled with holes." She smirks friendlily helping him get his shirt off over his injured arm. Velt turned around to the wardrobe and began pulling out some cloths. "You want some boots? Or do you prefer cuffs?" bare-paw clearly not being an option.

"Cuffs please." Lupus says, feeling a little exposed only wearing his underwear. He stretched out as best he could without hurting himself more as two large charcoal feathered wings unfolded from behind him: Of course his accursed wings hadn't been damaged his the fight.

"You know lupus, you're really polite for someone living in this kind of place, it's quite refreshing to have a conversation with someone who knows how to behave properly. Not that the crew are mean, it's just they don't know the correct way to conduct themselves." Velt said half to herself as she turned around with a pile of clothing in her arms. "What the?!" she exclaimed, dropping the cloths.

"Did I do something wrong?" Lupus asks quickly, not wanting to upset such a nice person.

"...No...I just...didn't expect you to have...wings." She admitted picking up the cloths and putting them next to him. "Now, hold still: this might hurt a bit." She warned closing her eyes and placing her paws on Lupus' chest. White marking appear on her body and begin to glow blue. Lupus' body starts to tingle, his cuts fizzing as they push out the impurities. Loud yelp echo round the room each time one of his ribs snaps back into place healing itself. Each shot of pain making the dark brown striped along his sides twitch with his abs.

"Good as new." Velt smiles standing up.

Lupus checks himself over in disbelief, wagging his tail happily as his healed body *thanks!" he cries happily hugging her tight.

Velt hugs him back, wagging her tail a little two, "Now, go get changed, I promise I won't look."

He quickly grabs the clothing and hurries to the other end of the room as Velt turns around and wipes a tear from her eye.

A few minutes later, Velt hears a 'Ready' and she turns around quickly. Before her stood a very handsome wolf wearing a long black coat over a blood red waist coat and a loose white shirt, complete with matching pants and cuffs (a sort of padding that goes around ankles for furs who don't like wearing boots over their paws).

"How do I look?" Lupus asked nervously giving her a little twirl.

She smiled and wagged her tail. "Very charming," She chuckled walking forward picking up a knife from her bed side table. "Now hold still." Lupus lowered his ears nervously as she cut through the fabric on his back letting his wings out through two holes. "Better?" she says admiring his wings.

"Much." He smiles flapping them a little.

"Great." Velt smiles wider, loving seeing the glee on Lupus' face. "Well I might as well get you settled in here, you'll make a great wind rider."
