"I assure you Krystal that you will be safe here and I will help you anyway I can to get back to your home."

The two journeyed through the town, Aloni pointing out different spots along the way.

"Wait a sec," Krystal stopped in perplexity as she felt the robes wrapped around her body, "where did these robes come from?"

Her bat company looked at her in confusion, "We just went to the tailor remember? Down on market street?"

"No.....I....it's a bit hazy."

"I'm sure it's just a memory laps. So what did you say you were?"

"I'm a vixen, or a female fox."

"Vixen...Fox...We have never heard of such creatures."

Adjusting her glasses, Aloni peered hard at Krystal, making her blush, "You have fur like me but you lack wings. Your ears are much smaller but your teeth are of the same basic structure. We'll go to Doctor Marxian later."

The pair walked through the door of the doctor's office.

"How did we get here?"

Again Aloni stood in confusion at her partners statement, "We made our way here from the pub down the road."

"Remind me when you first mentioned a visit to the doctor."

"That was hours ago ya silly!"

Aloni just laughed at Krystal as she scratched her head.

Aloni made her way to the front desk leaving Krystal to face the wide staring eyes in the waiting room, "I have a sort of alien here to see Doctor Marxian."

A quick transaction and Krystal was lying on a consult chair with Aloni quietly humming in the corner.

"An alien is it!"

A figure had appeared at the door. He was a mild stature with brown fur with black stripes and sensible hair. He wore a white doctor's jacket with a name tag.

"Ah Doctor Marxian!"

"Nice to see you again Aloni. Tell me, how is your husband?"

"Same old, same old I guess. We just adopted. Little Perlois we've called him."

"Oh well done my dear and I hope for all the best. Now, the alien."

"'The alien' has a name by the way," stated Krystal with her arms crossed in the chair.

"Oh beg my pardon my dear, by what name do you go by?"

"Krystal."

"What a beautiful name. And what species do you say you are?"

"I'm a vixen or a female fox if that's anymore familiar."

"I'm dreadfully sorry but neither of them seems to ring any bells."

The doctor coughed in a type of embarrassment towards Aloni, "Oh right. Krystal, the doctor needs you to....erm.....disrobe."

The two were surprised at how fast and willing Krystal was to get her robes off. She even surprised herself. Was she becoming a slut?

"Good lord!"

The doctor and Aloni seemed a bit overly surprised.

"You......you...have...." Krystal could understand what they were so surprised at and began to become a bit self-conscious, "What? I though it was a pretty normal size."

"Where is the Lord's name did you get that???"

"Erm.......from my mother?"

The two just looked at each other in complete awe.

"Allow me to explain my dear. There are three sections to our race; the grex or 'the people', the sapiens vir or 'the elders' and the sator or the 'the creators' in respective order of increasing importance. There is a small group of our race that is blessed with the power to create more of our species. There are only about 20 of them but they keep the species off the brink of extinction. The rest of our race is without this power. Seeing the female part of creation is a great blessing. You are almost a God in our culture."

The long pause emphasized Krystal's utter surprise.

"You....you mean my pussy is holy?"

"Please, if that's a sort of slang word, that is a disrespect to something of holy worth."

"How the hell do you guys live without sex? Jesus, I'd kill myself!"

They obviously didn't get Krystal's joke.

Krystal dressed again and made her way out of the office, "Be careful Krystal. Do not let anyone else know about that."

"Okay Doc, no worries. See you la..."

Before she could finish, she caught something in the corner of her eye. It was a sort of grey colour......with long hair.....and a kilt. Sally! She was just leaving through the main door.

"Sally?"

She paid no attention to Krystal and left as Krystal rushed after her. The door led to the main street which was completely open. There were no alleyways to hide in and she would see Sally in the corner. She wasn't there. Aloni charged out the door behind her.

"Sally?"

"Who's Sally?"

"She's a gray wolf with blue eyes, long hair and..."

"Whoa slow down there. What the hell is a 'wolf'?"

Krystal knew she was just seeing things and, even if she had seen Sally, Aloni will not be able to help her.

"Don't worry." She sighed as the two continued down the street.

"This is your room."

It had happened again.

"Where are we again?"

"The Pottery Inn. What's wrong with you Krystal?"

She rushed into the room and dived onto the bed, holding her head and speaking into the sheets, "I can't remember anything!"

Aloni, still not used to the new species, was obviously confused.

"Maybe your just tired. You need some sleep."

"After today I'll never be able to sleep."

"I'll try and help ya', I'm a historian."

Krystal tucked herself into bed and Aloni sat down beside her, "Okay. You already know about our city. It is on the east side of the super continent we call Raranol. This continent is cut into 5 equal cities and this is the capital, Defixiones Pax. However, even with the super continent under our control, we only cover around 1% of the planet's surface. It wasn't always like that. The sapiens vir talk of the pure days. The air was thick and sweet like honey and the water waved and glided through the air. Light could be touched and every person was blessed with perfect life and perfect health. Everyone loved everyone else and all the elements of the planet were in perfect harmony. Then they came."

The noise of Krystal's loud snoring cut into Aloni's story.

"Huh...for an alien she sure is cute..."

Aloni kissed Krystal on the head and walked out.

"Sally there you are!"

"Krystal I'm here for you."

"I love you Sally."

"I love you Krystal."

"Where are we?"

"Krystal, I've never told you this but I don't think I can live without you... I know we are in love but...I think it's more than that. I don't want to be without you."

"I feel the same about you. I want to be with you to."

"You just need to wake up."

"Wake up? This is a dream?"

"Wake up Krystal. Please."

"Sally I'm right here, what are you talking about?"

"Just wake up."

Sally's eyes stared to fill with tears.

"Wake up Krystal. Wake up Krystal. Wake up Krystal."

Her words just repeated over and over.

"SSSSSSSSSSSAAAAAALLLLLYYYY!!!"

Krystal woke up screaming. She was covered in a cold sweat and she was breathing heavily. No sunlight was here to greet her this morning; only the bloody glow of the dead sky.

"Krystal are you okay?"

Aloni was in a dressing gown as she rushed in.

"Sally......was....right here...."

Then she smelt it. It was faint and fading but it was there. That smell of grey hair and warmth. It was definitely there. It was Sally.

"She was here."

"Who?"

"Sally, she was here I known she was."

"Is this that 'wolf' thing?"

"SHE IS NOT A WOLF THING."

Aloni jumped back in shock as Krystal breathed hard.

"Sorry.....I think I'm going mental..."

"Is okay. Look, I'll show you round the older part of town today. It'll take your mind off it."

Soon the pair where in the old part of Defixiones Pax which was absolutely stunning compared to the commercial part. All the buildings were tall, stone towers that held up the wounded sky. Bells rung out to signal different ceremonies as the heavily robed people muttered and shuffled to and fro. Krystal couldn't stop scanning the scene until a small knock smacked her back into reality. It was a small girl who had bumped into the back of her leg.

Krystal bent down to have a chat, "Hello sweetie, well aren't you the cutest."

She was a small, white bat with large eyes and small violet wings, "You in a hurry?"

"Pardon me Miss, I'm late for a training session."

"Wait a second...aren't you scared of me? You haven't seen a creature like me before have you?"

"Well, it may not be my place ma'am, but your quite cute and I can't be scared of something that's cute."

For a little girl she had a very mature attitude. Smiling, Krystal stroked her head and let her on her way.

"This old district is where the elders are studying the history and looking over the city. Wanna see the city's library?"

"Sure! Sounds good, maybe I can find a way to get back home."

"Maybe but I don't know how you'd get off the planet apart from the new rocket and the elders would not let you use that."

"I can try."

The library was a grand building. It was just a huge spiral that lead outwards to rooms of books and offices. More robed bats walked up and down the staircases holding books and muttering. The strong candles made the building one of the best lit Krystal had seen.

"Krystal, the elder's conference rooms is at the top of the spiral, I just need to grab a few books so I'll meet you at the bottom here when your done."

Krystal nodded and she was off. The spiral seemed to continue forever and the atmosphere began to become much thicker and the light began to bleed red. The heavy wooden door that waited for her had 'SAPIENS VIR' embroiled on it. It, however, seemed to be slightly ajar. She could here low and dark voices on the other side. Soon her curious side took over and Krystal decided to listen in.

"The lines aren't holding! The sator cannot keep up."

"The death on the battlefield is starting to ruin the moral of the men."

"Our front is under such heavy attack. We can't last!"

"Fellow Sapiens Vir, please, Captain Valentine can keep them at bay."

"What do the grex know about the situation?"

"They are all ignorant about their destruction. They believe that the lines will not break."

"What about 'Project R'?"

"The training is almost complete and the vessel is nearing completion."

"Good, good."

"You can stop listening to us."

Krystal was immediately caught. The door swung open to wide and a bunch of wrinkle hands pulled her in and slammed the door behind her.

"How can you do this? How can you lie to all of your people?"

The elders looked at each other in concern. Their fur was matted, their faces were wrinkled and withered and their ears were wilted. Slowly but surely Krystal was drained of her confidence.

"You....thing....you seemed to have heard a lot. We lie to our people to give them faith. The escape project can only carry one and that person has been picked. With our people now tainted by the surrounding evil, their hearts would make them selfish and they would become outraged by the rocket. We have told them that the rocket that is taking off is a test. Hope is still alive in our people and that is the only thing that is keeping the society from complete collapse."

"Yes and you must not tell a soul about what transpired here."

Although she didn't like the fate of the planet, it was not here problem and there was nothing she could do.

"I will not tell a soul if you will help me back to my planet."

The elders fell to silence. They congregated in the corner and began to confer.

"Fine then strange blue girl. We will add more power to the rockets of the vessel but you CANNOT be seen by the public. The rocket is also heading for a planet in the Gleff system."

"I know the Gleff system so I'll be able to find help."

"Fine, we are at an agreement. You have until tomorrow at the eve of the day. Now go and say nothing about what happened here."

Krystal hurried out the door and back to Aloni.

"You gunna get out of here?"

"Yeah, they're making another rocket for everyone else soon and I'll be on it."

"And me as well?"

Krystal was stopped in her tracks. This gentle and caring girl had helped her for the past day. Her and her husband had just adopted a child and she wasn't that old. She had her whole life ahead of her.

"Yeah, you too..."

"YAY! WE HAVE A CHANCE OF A PROPER LIFE!!!"

"Whoa, ssshhhh you've gotta be quiet. Don't tell anyone else. The elders don't want a whole excitement as it'll ruin the defences."

"Oh right, got it."

The two made their way back to the commercial district.

"How about a little shopping Krystal?"

"Yeah I don't see why not."

Aloni lead her into a near-by shop. Before she went through the doorway, something caught Krystal's attention in the corner of her sight. It was the little girl she meet earlier. She was skipping through the main gate which, for some reason, was open and down to the battle front. Krystal knew she didn't stand a chance down there and took off after her.

"Sweetie?"

Even though Krystal was sprinting at full pace, the little girl was too far ahead. The little girl just stood behind the lines of people firing out of the battlement holes.

"Come back here sweetie."

"Don't worry blue girl," a soldier knelt next to the little girl, "I'll take care of her."

He smiled at her. His teeth were long, black and razor sharp. Krystal remembered she had her staff in her belt and snapped it out to separate the soldier and the little girl.

"Don't you touch her."

The little girl suddenly grabbed the staff and five seconds later the soldier was on the floor dead. His form began to faze out and he became one of the dark, iron creatures Krystal had discovered as she woke up.

"My God how did you do that?"

"You naughty girl!"

Soon a soldier came running out of the distance. It was Captain Valentine.

"What have I told you? You stay away from the battlefront, is that clear?"

"I just wanted to see you daddy."

"Daddy???" thought Krystal.

Now she understood where she got her skills and courage from.

"Is that my baby? Come here you," a female soldier stood next to Captain Valentine.

"Mummy!"

"How you doing love?"

"I just finished my training, I'm getting really good."

"I know you and your gunna show me aren't ya but you can't stay here, you have to go."

"Okay Mummy. Love you."

"Love you too dear."

The sound of a cart approaching broke through the constant gunfire. An old bat and a small black and red striped bat sat on the back.

"Cap'n Valentine, got another dead one for me?"

"Yeah. Good that ya' got the message. Take it quick, it's starting to smell."

"Listen, honey, you go with Shadow on the back of the cart okay?" he female shooed her little girl over to the cart and she sat next to the stripped bat and held his hand.

"And who might you be?" asked the female bat as Captain Valentine and the old bat pulled the creature's body onto the cart.

"My name is Krystal."

"Well thank you for helping my little girl Krystal, you seemed pretty courageous back there."

"Thank you. And your name is?"

"Oh how rude of me my name is Noir Valentine, second in command of Anoloth unit."

The bat was of a large stature with breasts to rival Miss S's and a lump of scruffy hair. Her fur was completely white and she had a scar across her right eye.

"You....remind me of....someone..."

"Really? Who?"

"A girl called Rouge...I miss her right now."

"Rouge. That's my daughters name, what a coincidence!"

Wait, Anoloth, Rouge, What the hell was going on?"

The sound of scratching at the gate broke up the atmosphere. A creature slammed through the gate.

"Krystal! It's not safe here go!"

"Damnit I fucking ordered the gate to be secured!"

The creature headed straight for Noir. Through the gunfire and pain, the creature stabbed Noir with it's arm before it went down. A line of soldiers began to secure the gate as the Captain held Noir.

"Noir!" he looked down at the huge hole in her stomach, "just a scratch love!"

"Yeah...I bet...*cough*," she began to violently cough up blood.

"MEDIC!"

"Shush your crying love, It's no use."

"But...I can't lose you."

"You can go on without me."

"We promised on our wedding vows we would die together. You promised."

"I....guess I must've had my fingers crossed."

Her voice was no weak and her grip on his hand loosened. She was gone. The Captain just knelt there with his dead wife in his arms. He laid her to the floor and picked up his rifle.

"Come on men, let's fight this wave back."

No emotion was shown in his voice, his tone was till strong and no tears were shed. He was truly the perfect Captain. Krystal just left silently, bowing to show her respects for his fallen wife. The sun was going down as Krystal rushed back into down.

She meet the worried Aloni at the gate, "Where in the name of the sator have you been?"

"Don't have time, I'll meet you back at the Inn; did you see where Rouge went did you?"

"Valentines daughter? No sorry."

Krystal hurried off into the deserted down in search of the small batgirl.

"Krystal."

She froze in her tracks. Sally was right behind her again and soon took off.

"No...Sally wait!"

Even though she ran harder and harder, Krystal could catch up with Sally. She glided round and corner and Krystal followed. She had disappeared but Krystal found something different. Rouge and Shadow were sitting on a bench illuminated by only one streetlight. They sat looking into each others eyes and holding each others hands with the enthusiasm of lovers. However, both wore an expression of seriousness and sadness. Rouge seemed to be explaining something to Shadow as he began to tear. Soon he broke away from her and sprinted off, shunting Krystal out the way and weeping as he went. Krystal went over to Rouge and cuddled her as she cried into her arms.

"What happened Rouge?"

"I...I...I can't tell you..."

"I understand."

"Rouge...do you know about your mummy."

"Yeah..."

Krystal embraced her and held her as she cried.

Soon Krystal was standing in the main square in the evening of the next day with Rouge at her side. Large walls surrounded the bottom of craft to make sure that the crowds couldn't see Rouge and Krystal boarding.

She scratched her head furiously, "Did I even go to bed? How the hell did I get here?"

The elders were there to meet them.

"Rouge. You have been trained to the peak of performance and the blessing of the God's have allowed you to become the perfect sator. Do your race proud."

"I will not fail you."

She saluted to them and began to board the craft.

"And you. We hope that all your future endeavours are looked over by the Gods and that you can return to the people you love."

"Thank you for all your help."

Krystal followed Rouge into the craft. Soon the time had come for them to leave. The rockets fired up as the crowds cheered.

They could hear the elders dictate to the crowds, "This rocket shall blast through the dark clouds into the freedom of space and beyond. The stars have no limits for our race and soon we shall all leave these pathetic creatures to their barbaric games and life our peaceful life elsewhere."

"KRYSTAL!!! KRYSTAL!!!"

She could hear the screaming in her head . Krystal turned on the external cameras. In the alleyway, behind the crowds stood Sally. She was weeping. Krystal could take so much but Sally crying was one thing she couldn't take. Illusion or not, she needed to find out. She unbelted herself from her seat belt and ran out the bottom and over the wall. The rocket soon blasted off and rammed through the clouds.

The elders shouted after Krystal, "What are you doing? You need to be on there the rocket has been given some extra power. The balance is off, she'll crash land!"

Soon the crowds had noticed her.

"She came out of the rocket!"

"Those rockets can hold people!"

"They were gunna leave us here to die!"

A riot ensued. Krystal sprint to the alleyway where Sally was. A dark, black glow was given off. It was Shadow standing in front of a large, stone tub. Krystal took shelter behind a pile of crates and looked onwards. Above the tube hung a net of the creatures of darkness, their evil blood dripping from their split bodies and veins. Shadow stripped off his robe and walked into the dark blood. He dunked his head under. Soon four others in large robes stood next to the tub, one holding a torch of burning blue flame. The mixture was set alight. Shadow arose from the liquid but not as what he was. He was now a jet black creature with spikes for hair and instead of wings. His body was covered in burning blue flame and his muscle bulged with unholy energy. His eyes were burning and focused. Pointing at those around him, his friends burst into flames. He floated round the corner and past Krystal into the crowd. He looked up at the sky, the rocket had escaped. Clenching his fist, the wall began to crack fell to pieces. The creatures spewed into the city and began to execute the crowd. Krystal held herself in the by the crates and closed her eyes. Soon a hand held hers.

"Sally."

"Krystal. Please wake up for me Krystal. Just open your eyes."

"I am. Sally help me."

"Krystal you have to wake up."

"How Sally? Help me?"

Shadow soon made approached them. He lent over to Krystal and whispered in her ear.

The light was blinding.

"Wake up Krystal."

Sally cried deeply.

"Krystal, please wake up. I need you Krystal. Wake up please. Krystal."

She had her head in her hands as she cried next to Krystal on her hospital bed. Krystal moved her hand onto Sally's arm.

"Krys?"

Krystal just smiled, "KRYSY!"

Sally hugged her and kissed her.

"Whoa not so hard!"

Krystal was in hospital. The room was completely white and the strong lights were blinding her.

"I've been here ever since you were admitted 2 weeks ago. Rouge came to see you as well."

Sally moved out so Krystal could see Rouge on the chair behind her. She was in deep pain and holding her head. Suddenly she opened her eyes and grabbed Krystal's hospital robe.

"YOU! You saw into my mind, my dreams. How the hell??? What did he whisper to you Krystal? WHAT DID SHADOW WHISPER TO YOU???"

Krystal suddenly remember as she stared at the doorway. He was there.

"I said tell Rouge her boyfriend's coming to visit her."
