This is the next chapter of Avila's stranded adventure

Now unknowingly she got a weird eye problem that gave her quite a burden

Guess which popular dragon character I feature here?

Contrast Inversion Color Blind

Avila was blind. No, she wasn't blind because of her eye problem. The scenery of the night proved to be so dark that her trained night eyes couldn't even penetrate them. She knew the problem of her eyes could dissipate when she was inside a bright room, and everything would be in color again.

She was right. By the time the dragon carrying her went into a bright, white background, she was astonished by how the cave system was laid out. But she was disappointed the place only had two colors, black and white, or something in between, for coloring. She thought she was in a monochromatic world where there were only the opposing colors in the place, in contrast to the more colorful place she was living from her youth.

Anyways, she was taken down by the dragon softly to a flat rock, and she suddenly felt very weak. She felt the rumbling on her belly and realized she hadn't eaten for almost two days. She never got any meals missed, but since going to the weird world, she lost track of time and the effect of hunger started to overwhelm her.

"He's going to ask you about something, since you're still suspicious," said Jekizira while patting Avila's head. "Don't worry, he's okay, if you doesn't get into his wild side, like the one before you."

"Before me? What did he do?"

"Just...try to level with him and you'll be alright. He's not a type of dragon with confidence to wait for you to be shy with him."

Jekizira then left Avila alone in the well-lit room. The place was still monochromatic to her, but she slowly realize there was no point on whining since now she was trapped in the other world while the last thing she could remember back in her world, her mate was also drawn to another world. She just hoped he was alright and getting a better life in a colorful world (in which he did).

A presence of a dragon made Avila turned her head toward the direction where she found a gray eyed black dragon staring at her with great pride (as she accounted). He walked slowly to her direction, tail lashing about like whip.

He stopped inches in front of her, and after a while of silence, he said, "Those are nice pairs of yellow eyes you got there."

"Yeah...and I guess you're the first dragon I know to have gray eyes."

"Gray? I've bright yellow, just like you?"

"What? Then, what with..."

"Anyway, how can you see my eyes in this darkness? Though I have bright eyes, that don't mean they are glowing like flying cats, right? You have a very good pair of eyes in darkness."

"Uh...it's so bright here as if it's morning."

"Bright?"

The dragon then turned his head. From his expression, he could have been confused on why Avila told him the opposite from what he thought. Something was wrong around here, and of course the fact that everything was the opposite around there.

The next moment she knew, she was again staring at another pair of eyes. This time it was a human. His skin was dark enough for Avila to see that the only thing on him that was bright was his eye.

"Uh, little dragon, Coraero said here that you're one weird dragon," said the man, while carrying a blackened light. "What do you see on me?"

"I can see...you're a very black man with only your eyes' whites the only thing that's bright...and with your white hairs...."

"I'm black, but from the description...." He turned to Coraero and whispered. "Hey, she's weird...and unique."

"Yeah...I've never met a color-blind dragon like this before. Something must've happened to her that gave her color-blind," whispered Coraero back, which Avila become really confused. "But...she did say something weird. How about if you shove her that fire?"

Avila could see that black man nodded, and he suddenly shove the black light on the wood in front of her. The heat was like a fire and she was caught in surprise that she accidentally blew a powerful wind toward the 'black light' and burned Coraero slightly. This made Avila, Coraero, and the man became very surprised and...

"That was a fire?!" exclaimed Avila. "I thought it's a black patch of light!"

"Black patch of light?! So that's mean she's...an Inversed Contrast Color-Blind dragon?!!"

An echoing roar of surprised dragon made some lizard-birds flew away cawing like crows (and of course like crazy). Inside, both dragons became unconscious after bumping with each other, with the human just rubbing his head.

"Why do you also faint, Coraero?" said the man to himself. "Anyway, it's quite surprising to know a dragon had inversed contrast and color-blind eye problem. From what I've ever read, that kind of problem never happened to a dragon and rarely happened to a human. She's one special dragon, and seeing that she could blow a powerful wind like that...she's really familiar with the previous one."

Avila woke up again, but now she felt comfortable. She was in a rocky room full of hays and the things that made her drool: foods. Lots of meats from any kind. She wanted to go to the table and ate them greedily like a greedy dragon, getting fat on those tasty piles of meat. Her long snake-like tongue started to drip saliva and one of her paws wanted to grip on the meat...

...until a creaking voice of a door stopped her and she turned back, trying to look as innocent as possible.

"Oh, you're awake?" said Coraero's voice. "I know you're hungry, but those foods weren't for you. Sorry."

"Yes...it's okay. I'm sometimes taken to greed," replied the dark dragoness. "Anyway, what's your name? You seem to be the leader around here, seeing that the dragon named Jekizira told me to wait for you."

"Jek told you that? Oh yeah, I forgot. I'm Coraero, the leading dragon member on the Dark Sentinel. The human was my rider, and he's the human leader of the Dark Sentinel. His name was Jonathan Monroe. Quite a cool name, huh?"

"For me, that's something really, really weird...considering that I never came from this world..."

"Oh, you never came from this world? That's no surprise. I've meet another dragon like you before."

Coraero then sat beside Avila, while his tail was put behind and over Avila's own tail. She felt the weight of the much bigger dragon on her, but she tried not to wince since the small black dragoness didn't want to accidentally kill another dragon because of her cursed element release.

"It explains why you're so confused on why Jek wanted to kill you or what. There have been traitors lately. It might sounds absurd for a stranger dragon like you, but we are having a war with the light. This place you're now is the Dark Realm, a place where we're having issues with light things. Most of our things here are all dark, almost black. But we can still distinguish them. You, on the other hand...is color-blind. That's something weird for a dragon. Moreover, you've a weird issue to your eyes of inversed contrast."

"Yeah...something's weird when I first reached this world. But, can you tell me why I've inversed contrast?"

"It's a very rare eye problem that was only once found in human cases, let alone having combination with color-blindness. There was this one man that got this inversed contrast problem as Jon once said, but it was long time ago, and he's dead already. For color-blind, this is the first time I've ever met a dragon with both symptoms."

Avila didn't reply him. Because of the weird symptom she got, she was the same as blind, and the world was at war. She could be killed just by flying around without supervision, and of course, without her mate, she was as lonely as hell again.

"Uh, why is this room so dark...hmm, venison. Hey, that's a good catch."

When the light was on (because of a weird thing Avila could see carried by the dragon before she became blind), the dragon could only stare in awe when she saw a weird dragoness staring on nothingness while Coraero was embracing her. This made the dragon became so lost in words that she dropped the thing.

"Co...Cory...you...what did you do to that female dragon...in MY room?! You're really one damn pervert!"

"N...no, wait, you're getting things wrong! I just put her in here so she could be alright by the time she woke up! She hasn't eaten your food yet! Oh, about those foods, do you want to share with her?"

The dragoness was silent for a while, then with a sigh, she said, "Okay...those foods are too much for me."

"Oh...I remember I have some errands with Jon. Can you guide her to the foods? She's blind."

Avila could hear she sighed again and she felt Coraero's presence got further and further than him, until she could finally see some parts vaguely because of the darkened state of the closed room.

"Say," said the dragoness to her. "What did Coraero do to you?"

"Nothing. We're having a small talk about my eye condition. C...can I try those nice venison?"

"Yeah...seeing that you're hurt and all. Let me help you shove some into your mouth. You're helpless, aren't you?"

Avila just let the dragoness gave some meats into her mouth. This was the first time she was very helpless. Not that she was helpless if it comes to flying since Seraphor had the problem with flying up until 5 years ago, but he was still helpless in term of flying stamina as he never flew that much since the black dragoness unwillingly melted the membranes for self-defense that rendered him unable to fly since he was nothing but a whelp, and she was in such a guilt to ruin a dragon's chance of flying since they were both still small. It was really a lucky thing for the bones, though. They grow as Seraphor grew, but because of never flexing the wing muscles that Avila melted, he only could move the base part, not the whole wings...and because of that, he couldn't fold his wings without help.

"It can't be helped, though. I wish he got some friends good enough to help him fold his wings, caring for him and trying to be closer to him," thought Avila. "I can't see him for sometimes, so I'll try to let him go."

"You look a little sad. Having a bad past?" said the dragoness while giving Avila some meat. "I can understand you well. I'm not from this world, and I don't have any friends. But after two years with them, I can find these Sentinels are all the best dragons and riders I've ever met. I never met humans before, especially those riding on dragon's back. It's really a great thing about them, being able to be friends with dragons."

"So, Richard is one of the best humans there is, huh, being able to ride on Ray's back," thought Avila. "He didn't look like a human by time flies, though."

"Hey, what's your name? I've never met you before. Those braces at your front legs reminded me a little, but that's alright. Sometimes a little fashion is necessary."

"Uh...I'm Avila," said the black dragoness. "I...I'm actually not from this world, too."

"Oh? You're one shy dragon, huh? But, from the look of those yellow eyes, you're not pretty innocent too, is that it?"

"Well...." Avila couldn't say that she was once a berserk demon-like dragon that went rampage and killing anything on its way, right? Instead, seeing the stream-lined black dragon with some markings on her head and those braces she wore made her feel this dragoness had a weird taste to decorate her own body. She then smiled, giving her childish sharp teeth so Avila could see, and extended her right front leg. Knowing that she wanted to shake, Avila did so.

"Well, my name is Cynder," she said. "I'm the newest Dark Sentinel, and one of those no-rider dragons. Maybe it's kinda absurd, but...you're a member of the Dark Sentinel now."

"What?!"
