"Well, we've come by to ask if you've run across a seven year old girl in the woods. Her grandmother is back at the station worried sick about her so any help is appreciated. Helan wisely asked the rangers to hold on a minute while she fetched something. Before she returned I stepped out from my hiding and approached the rangers. Naturally their reaction was priceless the instant they caught sight of me walking closer.

Of course they freaked then jumped when Helan suddenly reopened the door. They were quick to ask Helan if I was her pet then she said I was a good friend. From there she had Tammy come to the front door to greet the rangers and stun them also. Helan explained to me what the situation was but, she knew I wasn't letting her out of my sight. She ended up convincing the rangers to bring the grandmother up to her cabin instead.

After radioing down to the station about twenty minutes later a S.U.V arrived. The ranger driving helped the grandmother exited the vehicle as they walked closer. I calmly met them halfway and escorted the grandmother up into Helan's house. From there it was a wonderful reunion the two held each other close crying happily. While the rangers wisely remained outside seeing as I kept them from coming inside.

The grandmother gave me a warm hug and thanked me a great deal for rescuing Tammy. Sadly I heard another vehicle roaring up the dirt road with light flashing and no siren. Of course the rangers asked if we could bring Tammy outside to the awaiting EMT's. I was the first to exit Helan's cabin to survey exactly what was going on outside first. When I saw the ambulance I decided to wait around a bit longer before returning home.

As I went to walk away I heard one of the EMT's and she sounded familiar. When she stepped out from behind the open back doors I instantly recognized her. It was Rebecca and I was grateful she didn't notice me standing out in the open. Tammy wanted me to stay with her while the EMT's checked her out inside the vehicle. Keeping the little one happy meant more than to be discovered by an old friend from my past.

"Hi, there big boy so you must be the one responsible for rescuing this little girl. Nice work my friend especially keeping her safe from the more dangerous wildlife." Rebecca smiled petting me. Granted the sensations felt good but, to be honest I preferred Tammy doing that. When we looked into each other's eyes something flickered inside of Rebecca's. As she stood back up then faced Helan but, I sensed her upcoming question.

"Helan, I've got a rather stupid question is this wolf your pet or something? Even though he's way too big to be a hybrid or even a purebred wolf for that matter." She stated. Now I'm doing my very best not to show any sort of emotion until Helan spoke. She told Rebecca that I was merely a four legged friend and that I don't belong to anyone. From there she was quick to change the subject before it got anymore awkward.

"Since you asked me a silly question it's only fair that I ask you one in return, Rebecca. So is there anything new going on at home or is it just the same old bad news?" Helan replied. Rebecca was more than happy to share that news with her which I listened in also. Apparently her husband cheated on her with two other women and to make things interesting. The stupid bastard wound up getting both women pregnant in the process.

As I listened to all this I so badly wanted to find him and bite his manhood off. Luckily she wasted little time collecting proof to rake his ass over the coals in court. The only thing she left him with was his clothes and the house they bought together. She was grateful that she hadn't gotten pregnant by that self centered man. Next she moved into a nice apartment within walking distance to the hospital she works at.

"Seeing as you've got things under control any plans with your freedom?" Helan asked next. She giggled and told her friend that she's simply enjoying the peace and quiet right now. When the timing is right she'll happily go back out in the dating scene once again. It did my heart good to know that Rebecca had a game plan after her divorce. Before they could carry on any further her partner let her know they're ready to go.

With that said Tammy and her grandmother gave me a warm hug goodbye. Though I could tell Tammy really didn't want to leave just by how tight she held my neck. After she let me go she asked Helan if it was alright with her if she came back to visit. Naturally neither Helan nor I had any problems with her coming back to see us. From there they got back into the rear of the ambulance and got ready to leave.

As Rebecca walked towards the ambulance I moved over and grabbed her leg. I couldn't keep up my wolf act any longer she needed to know who I was before she left. "*kneels down.* Don't worry big guy she's in good hands you have my word. Hmm, I don't that is what's on your mind judging from the look in those lovely golden eyes." She said. Taking a moment to prepare myself then I rested my head squarely on her shoulder.

"First of all don't panic my old friend I can assure you that this is happening. For now Rebecca I want you to take good care of Tammy and her grandmother. Besides you need to get Tammy to the hospital so a doctor can give her a checkup. If you want answers then meet me at the pond fives miles west under the full moon." I whispered. Before she could say anything to me I calmly moved away then ran into the woods.

"Well then I'll see you in four days time old friend." Rebecca said with a smile. Next she jumped into the driver's seat of the ambulance, fired up the engine and drove away. Once I knew for sure the ambulance was gone I went in search for something to eat. After snagging a large buck I carried him all the way back to my cliff side den. When got there I spent most of the night carving and drying the meat from my kill.

For the next four days I barely left my den only to relieve myself or take a bath. On the late evening of the full moon I left my den to go meet up with Rebecca. The entire walk I hoped that she'd show up at the location I selected for this meeting. So to kill time instead of walking on all four legs I walked to the pond upright on two legs. As I arrived Rebecca wasn't there yet, so I found place out in the open to wait for her.

To be continued.
