#8 of Feathered Memories

Any Comments or Questions are greatly Appreciated, though please be civil about them. Thank you and Enjoy

"Oh Aniu are you planning on getting up to go to school anytime today?" Mom wondered. I slowly sat up in bed, yawned they gave her a half awake response. "Well, it's 7:30 and since your brother couldn't wake he decided to leave without you." She informed. Naturally that comment alone snapped me awake right away and I jumped out of bed. Of course mother told me to get my furry tail in gear as she left my bedroom.

From there I wasted little time getting myself dressed and ready for school. After a super quick meal we headed out to her car then drove off towards campus. Once the car came to a stop outside the main entrance I got out of the car. "I'll see you later dear remember what you and Iros promised me." She replied. Nodding my head yes, I said goodbyes then closed the door and went inside the building.

<What a way to start my morning off remember to punch, Iros in the head when I see him. Now I'd had better get my ass to class before I get distracted or worse.> I thought. As I entered my homeroom and looked inside the teacher wasn't around. I quickly went to my seat and just as I sat down the teacher finally entered the room. He took attendance then shared today's announcements before the bell rang for first period.

As I took my seat Celia wasn't too far behind me as she sat down right next to me. "So where the hell were you this morning getting your fur ruffled the right way?" Celia teased. The look I shot her informed Celia that I merely overslept this morning. Not only that my idiot brother thought it best to leave the house without waking me first. "Yeah, I found it rather odd that you weren't with him earlier this morning." She said.

"My mother told me he spent a good while trying but, I simply didn't want to hear it." I replied. "Well...shit-happens." She smiled. Unable to help myself I told her, she had a wonderful way putting things. "I know, I know it's a gift." She chuckled. Naturally I shot back with a smart remark all my own making her laugh aloud. "HAH! Finally somebody that actually fights back." She stated slapping the desk.

Naturally I asked her what she meant by that statement and she happily explained. Celia also told me that most folks don't enjoy play arguing seeing as they get upset. Especially when she starts to have fun and it gets rather melodramatic most of the time. "Hey Aniu what's up with your brother he was acting strange when we talked earlier?" She asked. I told her that he had been acting strange since yesterday after school let out.

Knowing I'd probably catch hell for this later I told Celia the truth behind it all. "..., HE, GOT, WHAT?" She exclaimed making direct eye contact with me. Of course I happily repeated myself though I cut her off before she went crazy with questions. Though I warned Celia that he's more than likely going to get angry that I told you. "Not a problem I'm used to getting flack from people so it doesn't phase me." She replied.

"You want to know something funny since I met your brother I haven't lost my temper." She stated. I pointed out that Iros has that strange effect on people myself included. The late bell rang just as the teacher entered the room and began today's lessons. As quickly the class started it ended quickly an hour later as we exited the room. "Well, I'll catch you later around lunch time, Celia." I smiled walking from her.

As I continued on my way to second period I noticed Max walking ahead of me. "Hey there sexy did you miss me?" I wondered hugging him affectionately from behind. He greeted me as I nuzzled his cheek making him fidget before letting him go. Naturally he was curious why I was being so affectionate so I explained myself. "I felt like surprising you this morning is that so wrong Max?" I said taking his hand in mine.

From there I took his hand in mine moved across my back then placed it on my hip. Max grew a bit nervous as I leaned against him which earned me another question. "Nothing is wrong can't I be friendly with you in the morning?" I asked in return. He then shared that he was afraid that I was going to do something weird. So to satisfy his curiosity, I leaned up then gave him a deep kiss on the cheek.

The second I pulled away the poor thing collapsed to his knees leaving me confused. "Are you going to live Max it can't have been all that bad?" I said helping him to his feet. "Forgive me I'm really not used to receiving that level of affection." He replied shortly after getting up. I decided to keep the comment that came to mind politely to myself. It's because of his honesty that drew me to him until I remembered something.

"I almost forgot you and your family are invited to a cookout this weekend." I informed. He said he'd talk to his mother later on tonight when she got home from work. I gave him my cell phone number so he could call me the second he talked things over. With a peck on the cheek Max said goodbye and rushed off to his next class. Once he gone I couldn't believe he did it but, I wasn't prepared for that.

Naturally the more I thought about it the happier I got he was opening up. That until my brother decided to chime in killing my good mood almost instantly. Of course the telepathic conversation that followed could by classified as typical sibling bonding. Though it was more like arguing as I chewed him out for what he pulled this morning. His passive nature always ruffled my fur the wrong way as my temper flared even more.

Before I closed the mental link I told him that I'd get even come fourth period. As my teacher did roll call and passed out today's class work I let myself simmer. Knowing that later on I'd get back at me pain in the ass younger brother ten fold. There are times I can't believe I'm actually related to him but, all the more reason to get even. During our chat my teacher informed everyone of a guest speaker coming Thursday.

He also told us we should prepare to answer any questions our guest have for the class. From there she began reviewing yesterday's notes then openly discussed them. Along with how they reflect personality flaws and strengths within the mind's inner workings. Before the bell rang, she formed six teams and assigned them with a specific mental function. Once the bell finally rang I grabbed my things I headed for the door.

As I entered the hallway Max joined me shortly after then we walked to our next class. While we walked he carefully placed his arm around my waist and held me close. I didn't mind one bit, until his hand drifted just a little south of my waist. "Oh, I love your eagerness Max but, your hand isn't on my waist anymore." I informed. He was quick to move his back above my waist and apologized for his behavior.

If he hadn't been looking down my shirt his hand wouldn't have moved from my waist. Of course his face turned several shades of bright red as he furiously apologized for it. "Babe you can relax it's perfectly natural for a guy to stare at a woman's curves. You don't have to get defensive if you didn't stare how would I hold your attention." I stated. He doubled checked with me if it was alright and I simply kissed his cheek.

When we arrived at my Economics Class we agreed to meet up at lunchtime. After he left, I entered the room now this class isn't my favorite but, it's required. The funny thing is my mother taught me almost everything the teacher would go over during the semester. This was more like a refresher course for one hour each day. Once the teacher came, she started writing notes on the blackboard for today lessons.

Sadly in my boredom I stretched my wings out annoying the student directly behind me. Naturally he voiced his opinion, I apologized and folded my wings against my back. The lunch bell rang so I wandered my way to the cafeteria I got my lunch and sat down. While I waited for Max to arrive, Celia joined me five minutes later then Max shortly after. As Celia sat down across from Max and I then she took a few bites of her food.

"Okay, so tell when in the hell did you two decide hook up? Where the hell have I been for that matter?" Celia inquired. I told her the truth but, I was very careful not to give her any specifics. Max pointed out to her that we met in the seventh grade and has been crushing ever since. It was only until recently he built up the courage to ask me out. "My question is how did Iros take to this little turn of events?" She wondered.

"Everyone in my family enjoyed having him over our home for dinner last night. Iros behaved himself the entire night and they already get along so wasn't so bad." I informed. Celia said that my brother was one tough nut to crack and I agreed completely with her. Max appeared out of nowhere and told her that Iros was very protective of my well being. Though he wouldn't want to be in Iros' line of fire should he ever get angry.

"I don't know about that Max, he doesn't strike me as the violent type of guy. Granted I'm sure he has temper and the odd thing is he doesn't broadcast that he's got one. To be perfectly honest with you, I've never met such a passive guy in all my life" She informed. Of course I couldn't help picking on her stating she had a strong crush on my brother. That got Celia all fired up as we started teasing each other like typical siblings.

While we bickered playfully Max excused himself to get rid of his trash. Leaving me and Celia to our play argument but, it didn't last long as I changed the topic. I quickly asked Celia for her outside opinion on my growing relationship with Max. "Personally, he's a bit timid but, certainly a keeper because of his polite honesty. You made a very wise call in hooking up with him Aniu trust me on this." She stated.

Before Max returned to the table Celia had one last remark to share with me. From there we resumed our previous play argument just as he sat down at our table. When he asked us what we were fighting about we started laughing for no apparent reason. "Umm, Did I miss something or are you two laughing at my expense?" He asked. I was quick to settle his nerves before his wild imagination got the better of him.

As we continued our little game the bell rang a short time later so we got up. From there we left the cafeteria Max and Celia had class then said their goodbyes. Once they were out of sight I made my way towards the library to see my brother. When I arrived doing my best to find my brother and not alert his rather rude teacher. Sure enough I found him sitting far away from the rest of his classmates then joined him.

"Morning, Aniu how's your day treating you oh, this little snack is for you." He said, handing me a brownie. Naturally I told him this wouldn't make up for what he did but, I thanked him anyway. "I didn't think so but, I'm positive you'll feel better once you start eating." He said. Sure enough once I began eating the large brownie I started feeling better. I gave him a sour look in response to his little peace offering making him smile.

"It's kinda of hard to be mad at somebody who gives you chocolate as an apology." He stated. As my tail wagged and my ears perked up he couldn't help but, laugh at my reaction. After I finished eating the pastry I asked him where he purchased the brownie from. "There's a bakery ten minutes up the road from home and I stopped in." He said. Of course I literally begged him to take me there sometime this week.

He agreed to take me to the bakery if I can manage to get up early in the morning. I told him that on the off chance I can't than he's welcome to get me up by any means. "You do realize that you're allowing me do something cruel to you in the morning." He remarked. Though I warned him that he better do so under plenty of restraint. Next he asked me if I invited Max and his family over for our weekend cookout.

"Come on now of course I told him, surely you had more confidence in me?" I asked. The sly smile on his face told me he was being serious yet giving me a hard time. I gave him a questioning look which I didn't have to express with words right away. He knew I was waiting for his honest opinion of Max and I actually dating each other. "Please, Iros you know I value your opinion so, don't hold back okay." I stated.

"Very well, personally Max is a good man and is a good balance for you honestly. Though you mustn't do anything to make him uncomfy or worse understand. In short I don't have any problems with you and him seeing each other just be careful." He replied. Next I asked him if mom and dad shared their thoughts with him at all. Sadly all he told me was if I wanted to know so badly I'd have to ask them.

Before his teacher decided to come over I said my goodbyes and left the library. As the school day came to an end, I made way outside to the student parking lot. I soon noticed Moxxi sitting on the hood of my brother's car and he was talking with her. Being polite I decided to leave them alone then I walked out of earshot until they finished. "Do I want to know why you're hiding behind the bushes?" Celia asked.

After my initial shock and cursing at her, I pointed over at where my brother was. Sure enough she looked and saw a white furred lioness sitting on the car's hood. "Is that, Moxxi...Damn, where in the blue **** did he find that piece of ass?" She asked. I was more than happy to shared that little piece of information making her blink rapidly. "Lucky, bastard why can't I get my paws on something like that." She whined.

Once Celia's curiosity was satisfied I wondered where Razze and Finx were. The second I mentioned their names they came walking by us spying from behind the bushes. "Razze, Finx hold up for a minute, please give Iros and Moxxi a little more time." I remarked. Finx looked at me questioningly at first but, did as I asked of her and waited. Razze wasn't paying attention and asked if that was the same woman from Saturday.

Celia was very curious if I'd could listen in telepathically on his conversation. As I began to enter his mind a sharp pain forced me to instantly withdraw. Finx was quick to ask me if I was alright then out of reflex I cussed her out. Luckily she understood what had happened of course Razze pointed out the obvious. "Aniu, let this go no sense getting on your brother bad side and keep poking." Finx stated.

While we talk amongst ourselves, Moxxi left then Iros quietly snuck up behind us. "Do you realize how childish it is to spy on someone's private conversation? Especially when the topic falls under nobody's concern or business of a very nosey sister." Iros remarked. Of course his tone of voice was less than pleased but, passive at the very same time. Celia just couldn't help herself and asked him if he's taking Moxxi to the dance.

Razze was quick to jump in before things got out of hand between everyone. Sadly Iros had to be at work in an hour so we grabbed our stuff then got into his car. Celia said her goodbyes then walked down the sidewalk where her car was parked. Once the motor was up to temp he slowly backed out of his parking space. Next we left the student parking lot and headed down the street towards our house.

About twenty minutes later he pulled up to the front walkway and let us out. I closed the door after Razze and Finx got out then Iros sped off down the street. The second I walked into the house dad had just left his small study and greeted me. He wanted to know how my day was and all i told him was it was pretty interesting. Naturally he was quick to ask for any specifics that I'd be willing to share with him.

All I told him was that I passed along the invite to our family cookout to Max. Dad handed Razze a letter then he had something else he wanted to talk to me about. Of course I was quick to ask him if I was in any sort of trouble and he said no. Though he did want to talk about Max and I this got my full attention instantly. He merely wanted to make sure that I wasn't going to do something life changing.

I very was quick to point out to him that we agreed to take our relationship slow. "Good, I thought I was going to have to discuss pregnancy at your age." He remarked. The fur all over my face turned a very bright shade of red and my jaw dropped open. Razze and Finx quickly scurried upstairs the second that topic hit the fan. "You know I don't know what the big deal is it's a natural part of life." He stated.

"A father shouldn't discuss with his daughter, besides mom gave me this talk." I said. He kissed my cheek then told me to go upstairs to get my homework started. Before I went upstairs I asked him to let me know when mom got home and was rested. With a nod I walked up the stairs towards my bedroom when Finx pulled me aside. All she wanted to know is when Max and I decided to start going out together.

I answered her questions until her curiosity was satisfied then I went my bedroom. Once my homework was finished I put it back into my school bag then went downstairs. From there I grabbed things from the kitchen cupboards to get dinner started. By the time Mom and Iros get home it would be just about ready to be served. Sadly I wasn't expecting company to visit unannounced just as put dinner in the oven.

When I turned around Max was standing in the doorway leading into the dinning room. Apparently Mom asked his mother to bring her whole family by for dinner tonight. Naturally I hugged him tightly after I set the timer on the stove then went to greet his mother. Sure enough my folks and her were in the parlor having a pleasant conversation. I decided to let them talk amongst themselves for now and introduce myself later.

Sadly I took two steps before my mother caught wind that I was spying on them. She quickly had me come into the room and politely introduce myself to Max's mother. Before I could get a single word out from out of nowhere someone bit my tail. Luckily Max's mother was on top of the situation just as three children vanished. She was quick to summon her three possible mischief makers back into the living room.

Like clock work all three child reentered the room then calmly stood before their mother. "I want to know which one of you bit her tail and I want to know now?" She questioned. They were quick to pin the blame on their siblings and it was hard not to laugh. She then gave the trio an all to familiar parental glare and the one responsible admitted. Next she had them go back to the dining room and finish playing their card game.

Once everything was settled Max and I decided to let our parents talk in peace. My mother told me to leave my bedroom door open as we walked into the entryway. "I'm guessing she doesn't trust you with somebody alone in your room." He said walking upstairs. I waited until we reached my bedroom before actually telling him the truth. When I told him the poor guy wasn't completely prepared to learn the real reason behind it.

I took a few minutes to ease his nerves before his imagination got the best of him. As we talked my brother got home and came upstairs then stopped at my door. "Umm, does mom know that he's alone with you in your room?" Iros wondered. Naturally I told him that both our parents and Max's mother know we were up here. He smirked, bowed politely then he calmly excused himself and went to his bedroom.

An hour later I heard the timer on the stove beep so I returned to the kitchen. Max helped me finish getting the rest of dinner cook and put on the dining room table. From there we called everyone into the room then one by one served everyone dinner. Iros and Razze were the first ones done and offered to do the dishes while we enjoyed dessert. Sadly Max's siblings started dozing off at the table and it was time to go home.

After everyone said goodnight Max and his family went home then I went to bed. Taking a moment to undress and stretch before slowly crawling onto my mattress. I tossed and turned in bed until I found a nice cozy spot then I began drifting off. Once asleep my dreams began shortly after and started off like a wonderful sunrise. Though that's how they always begin before they drastically turn into this unreal nightmare.

At first I see is a massive wave of molten flames and indescribable devastation. When I see the aftermath of it all I can see are burning buildings, craters, ash raining from the sky. I check my surrounding before searching for possible survivors amongst the rubble. As I fly above the city I can't find any signs of life or even the remains of deceased people. "Who would cause such senseless destruction and why?" I asked aloud.

Naturally the more I searched the more devastation I came upon and it was sickening. Than from out of nowhere I picked up on a strange presence so I followed it. "Oh, I wouldn't waste the energy trying to locate me my dear you won't succeed. Beside if you want to know who's truly responsible for all this mindless destruction. You might want to look in a mirror my dear because you're the one that made this happen." A voice said.

Whoever this guy was certainly had an attitude problem or delighted in being rude. Either way I wasn't going to play into his hands or give him any kind of ammunition. "Alright, seeing you're not going to give me a straight answer why bother talking to me?" I asked. When he didn't bother to reply his energy signature vanished from the area. Since there's no sense teleporting, I resumed my search for survivors midst the ruin.

The more I search the less I was able to learn and I was also losing hope as well. After a while my wings were growing tired so I needed to find a place to rest for a while. Seeing as that strange voice wasn't very insight or even helpful for that matter. What on the off chance I was the person responsible for this burning wasteland? Sadly there were way too many questions that didn't have answers at the present time.

For now I'll just let thing play out until more useful information is presented. Though the flip side to all this was how long can I tolerate these before I break. Perhaps there's someone I can talk with and they can help me understand what's going on. Who knows there might be a way to stop these nightmares altogether or possibly even gain control. Granted actually finding somebody that interprets dreams might be hard to come by.

Naturally I'd ask my family for help but, there's that slim chance that can't help. The only option open at the present time is to let this nightmare reveal its message. It might be my only chance to find out the truth behind them or the person responsible. At least between now and then I still have a choice before this actually occurs. For the remainder of the night this nightmare kept repeating until tomorrow morning.

To be Continued.
