I explored the shop a little more, trying to figure out how the burglar got in. No broken glass, no forced locks and no opened windows. The locks are all in place, could it be an inside job? I thought to myself. There are also no pawprints. Perhaps the burglar was wearing glove? I zoomed in on the details, the shop has six windows, two at the front, two at the back and two at both sides.

"You chained up the windows, instead of locking them?" I voiced my question to the shopkeeper.

"Yeah, why do you ask?"

"A true detective doesn't miss a point,"

The shopkeeper perked his ears in wonder and cocked his head.

"I think I covered all the leads. Thank you and here's my name card, call me if anything happens," I handed him my name card, bowed slightly and left.

"So what did you find?" Lestrade asked, eyeing me with his big cobalt eyes.

"You saw the chains?"

"Yeah?"

"What's can you see from them?"

"A bunch of rusty chains, old but strong."

"Nothing else?"

"Nothing else."

"Good try, I think you improved!"

His ears perked up, eyes glimmering, "Really?"

"Except that you missed out all the important points."

His ears drooped back down again, I can see that his slightly angry and I fought hard not to laugh.

"Yes, the chains may be all rusty but the chain on the left side of the shop is not dusty."

"So?"

"That probably means that the chain was replaced."

He growled my deductions. "When can you stop being a smartie-pants?"

"When you become as smart as me," I chuckled at his question.

I took out my pipe and filled it with strong-smelling tobacco. I struck a match and lighted the tobacco. I sucked eagerly at the pipe and expelled a volley of thick smoke from my muzzle. I quickly took out my notes and pinned them to my 'wall of clues'. Then, I took out a yarn and pulled out a length of red string. I linked the 'a perfect circle on glass cabinet' to 'method of extracting necklace', 'rusty but not dusty chain' to 'way of breaking into the shop' and finally 'no pawprints' to 'cautious burglar, perhaps experienced'. Looking at the clues, a smile spread across my face.
