#2 of A Midnight Dance

"Well Wild thing I'm already up here and ready! The question is, are you ready to get your freak on?!"

The echo boomed louder the armadillo fell forward onto the edge of the dance floor tucking himself into a ball and rolling into the center where he started to spin like a top. The beat sped up and with it wilds movement. Elliot had seen break dancing before on TV, but that was nothing in comparison to what he was seeing now. The armadillo moved with a fluid grace that was unchallenged and unparallel. The crowd seemed to push in closer forming a dense circle to watch the seemingly organized and mantic moving ball of chaos that dominated the floor as well as the attention of the observers around him. Elliot knew that if someone on the other side of the club wanted to shoot a gun in the air then the act would probably go completely unnoticed by anyone but the closest people. After all anyone everyone that could see the armadillo was soundlessly dazed and hypnotized by the rapid display of skill. Once it was over the music slowed and began anew. With a deep bow DJ wild passed through the crowd and up to his stand his seat having been vacated before he'd even gotten off the floor.

"So you do know that this is a dance club you're in right?" said a voice from behind. Elliot turned at once to see the dark gray fur and glowing green paw pads of the wolf that'd sent him the drink moments before; his tall bulking mass of a body was cool and smooth, in each paw he held coconut drinks. His ears were standing at full attention as he smiled down at Elliot. His attire consisted of a black shirt and a pair of dark American eagle jeans, which were slightly faded on the front of the thighs. Elliot's eyes widened in surprise and he froze. The thought that the handsome wolf was now close enough to really survey and assess him, he would wonder why he'd wasted a drink on him, and start looking for every reason how could to leave and never come back. To his astonishment the wolf slid in on the other side of the table his smile never fading as he set both drinks down, sliding one to Elliot.

"I saw how fast you gulped down that last one I sent over, and I kind'a thought you could use another one." Elliot remained silent, as his face turned visibly tense as a bowstring and red with a warm blush, as he basked in the idea that this handsome wolf had really been interest enough to even send a drink.. Elliot's brain had decided to go on vacation because he seemed to have forgotten everything, he didn't know what to say, think, or do, he'd even somehow forgotten how to take a breath. The prospect of having a guy show interest in him was a new and exciting thing that had left his mind in the corner of his brain hugging itself and sputtering ribbons of gibberish. Elliot knew that he wasn't good with new experiences and with his shyness he was fighting tooth and nail with himself not to just jump up and run like hell. He needed to stay and start rolling with the world again.

Move on; get with the program! Think! Talk! Do something!

This stranger was so close, and it was all so sudden that Elliot was starting to shack in panic, but with all the noise and action in the dark setting of the club the wolf didn't notice Elliot's muteness at first. After a moment though of none communicative time, the wolf smacked his head and rolled his eyes as he figured out what might be causing the problem. The act startled Elliot further as the dark wolf shook his head in seeming disgust with his stupidity. "I'm sorry," he said reaching his paw over the table for introduction, his pads still glowing brightly green. "My name is Tyler, and I DJ here at Deep Velvet like wild does." After a moment Elliot finally drew in a breath, his own paw twitching as he hesitantly reached out to take it. Tyler wavered with his own hesitation when he noticed Elliot's nervous shake in his grasp. The wolfs muscular paw dwarfed his small limp one. The softly glowing paw pads were soft and inviting as was his exuberant smile. Tyler's smile widened a bit in encouragement showing a bit of pearly white fang from under his lip has he proceeded to gently shake Elliot's hand, and then he left steadily pulled back his masculine paw; his smile faltering a moment before he took a gulp of his white coconut drink.

Finally clarity rushed back in; quickly shedding light into Elliot's dark and shadowy world, that's when he noticed this wolfs scent. It was almost intoxicating. A wild collection life's ever changing environment smells that mingle together in perfect harmony with his body's natural musk to create the most pleasurable scent. He smelled like a wonderful mix of trees plants car exhaust and a hint of mint (that could have been his tooth paste) and some kind of scented soap.

"Are you okay? You seem a bit nervous," he said waving his paw, "You really don't need to be I Like to think of myself as a nice guy, even a fun one. So need to be nervous you're in good company, so what's your name? If you mind me asking?"

Elliot offered a weak smile, and found his voice even if it was slowly. "Ell-Elliot" came his stammering voice half squeaking. "Well that's a start!" He exclaimed enthusiastically. The wolfs smile warming with the small victory "Now we can start a conversation." Tyler's paws folded over each other in front of him. Elliot's gaze stayed fixed on the wolf's glossy dark fur watching studying it. He was handsome, with a strong jaw line and now that he was closer he could see that the fur of his ears were tipped a silvery color. He seemed nice and looked genuine, but most people in the world had a public face to show the world. Tyler's paws were starting to fidget. What did he have to be nervous about? Elliot's brain kicked into overdrive sending a surge of fear over him. "Are you going to have your drink? I thought you liked the last one considering you gulped it down so fast." Tyler was trying hard to get Elliot engage in conversation, but it just didn't seem to be working. "Do you come here often?" His voice piped up again in another attempt. Elliot knew then, this guy had drugged this drink. Yes that was why he was so eager to have him drink. That thought pushed Elliot to his mental edge but what sent him over it was what he saw in the crowd. Martha was pulling Gosh who in turn was pulling Keith along through the crowd and out the doors. His gut ran cold; his whole body was in a full tremble as his floppy ears drooped down. He never even registered Tyler's words. "Are you alright? You look like you're about to faint." Elliot shot off as fast as he could from his seat, running through the moving oceanic like crowd, pushing people, tripping over others moving in a mad dash for the illuminating red letters of the exit sign that marked the way they had come in. About half way through the people seemed to sense him coming, and part for him. At long last he made it to the black doors. Pushing past them he tripped on the first step of the stairs on the other side. Luckily for him he was going up not down. Elliot took a hard thump to the right side of his muzzle as he turned his head to keep from inflicting worse damage to his nose. The big burly bouncer from before was still standing at his perch from before with no other onlookers, now he was looking down at Elliot from the top of the stairs scowling as if Elliot had just caused his whole night to swirl down the toilet. Heart thumping madly Elliot mounted the steps again with as much dignity as he could muster and climbed the last of the stairs zoom past the bear who was still scowling before he could solicit his opinion. the night air was growing colder with each passing moment. Elliot quickly shuffled to the wide mouth of the ally from which they'd come. About fifty feet down the right side of the street was the tall steel street lamp that Gosh had parked under. A yellow pool of light pooled down on the ground to reveal the absence of the car, closer to Elliot was the red fire hydrant that he'd first had sworn gosh had parked to close to it, now he thought back... maybe they had just moved the car because they didn't want to get a ticket or being towed... that thought lingered a moment and crashed to a smoking pile. If that had been the case one of them would have stayed to let him know that they were moving the car... but they had all left... together. Looking up Elliot could see the majestic pink of the sunset in the sky as it turned to a blood red falling behind the large buildings. A steaming vent in the side walk was billowing up high and wide enough that it concealed the wolverine standing next to a nearby dumpster, he had a cigarette hanging from the corner of his mouth as his eyes watched Elliot from under a black baggy hoodie. The look gave Elliot a freezing chill that had nothing to do with the cold of the dusk. With slow trepidation Elliot lowered his head to march quickly home. Unfortunately home for him was in the direction of the steam vent and the creepy onlooker. Lowering his head slightly shoving his hands into his jeans he marched past without so much as a glimpse at the stranger. Half a block down he risked a look back and to his great relief he didn't see the wolverine tailing him. He signed inwardly to himself. Three blocks down to Side Street that wound another five blocks to his disheveled old brick apartment building. He just had to make it there. Elliot increased his speed until he was almost jogging. Out the mouth of another came a gang banger marked with the symbol of the local gang that claimed the current neighborhood. It was a white tiger with a no strips; he wore a fur tight black wife beater that hugged tightly at his muscled body farther down clinging loosely to his waist a pair of light gray jogging sweats with two thin white strips running down the legs. The inky black gang mark was plastered permanently on the ridge of his white nose. Its subtlety was about the equivalent of a red flashing neon sign on his otherwise completely white flawless face. It was one of the new tattoos that marks not just the skin but also taints the color of the fur in that area the same color as it grows, so this mark of a curved dagger was never coming off this guys face. He would live with it and die with it. He came out of the ally to stand in the middle of the walkway effectively blocking the walkway. Elliot slowed but didn't stop but swerved into the street to go around. By this time the darkness had begun to seep its way into the city around the buildings out on to streets bleed into the buildings. He was in downtown now and by this time most of the businesses had had closed. Having learned long ago that business was over when the scum of the city started to crawl out from the shadows of the rotting corps of mankind. The white tiger kept moving along into the road still blocking the path that Elliot was trying to make, after a pause he just crossed the road. Half way over he spotted a tall lanky weasel moving out of another ally. The same black jagged dagger making along the bridge of his nose told Elliot all he needed to know. In his hand he held a long steel base ball bat he slowly made his way closer towards Elliot a sly smile creased his face. Fear was slowly taking root working its way deeper into Elliots mind looking between the two guys slowly closing in the Dalmatian starting to panic.

Ok then I'll just go back a few streets and go around them work his way back lurking in the shadows to keep from being seen.

It was times like this that he wished that He'd had a cell phone. Turning around he saw the wolverine was had come out from the side of the dumpster to take up the chase. He was nearly as close as the others now he was getting cornered.

Oh shit. Need to leave! Need TO LEAVE!

They slowly herding him to the ally that the weasel had been standing in when he'd started across the street.

When they were within twenty feet around him another thug who was a Black leopard walked his way over from the ally to join the others to trap the small Dalmatian. His face was a disfigured mess of scars and other long ago healed injuries. He looked to be the leader of this small group he was by far the biggest of them. Elliot's gaze searched businesses around him. The windows were like dark empty skull like hollows, holding no possible refuge, no life, or activity of any kind, no help at all.

Reaching in to his right pants pocket he discovered that is wallet was gone. He stifled a startled cry of panic as he checked all his clothes but found nothing, then he bent down to his sock and pulled out two twenties that he folded up earlier that day, like he always did. Looking at the leopard he unfolded the money and handed it out shakily. He was hyperventilating.

This is all the money that I have. Please just let me go. He pleaded. Looking around at the other three thugs and over them for anyone who might intervene, but it was all in vain, not a soul wondered.

Now that the wolverine in the dark hoodie was close enough Elliot could see the same long curved dagger marking that others had.

"Well, it looks like this bitch knows our regular business," The leopard said, a sinister smile creeping over his scared features. "Most nights this would buy your safe pass through our neighborhood, but Fell here," the leopard gestured to the wolverine.

"Says that your faggot ass came out of that fagot club, And we don't like the pussy faggots do we boys?" an earth shattering boom exploded from the right side of Elliot's face, and he crumpled to the ground losing his balance, half way to the ground the pain registered. The weasel with the bat had swung it hard against Elliot's head.

The cash in Elliot's paw fell to the ground with him from there he rolled up in to a ball where he felt another swing knocked the breath from him. Wrapping his arm around the side of his rapidly swelling face he cried desperately for help. That's when he saw the sneaker of the wolverine pulling back to slam in his face, and as it connected he blacked out. His last thought was I'm going to die.
