#1 of Foxx's Saga

This is my first attempt at a story, so please, be kind x.x I have a feeling that my poor plot will leave some of you wincing, and my dialogue (what painfully little there is), just as painful. Sorry about there not being any yiff (yet at least) but I wanted to set up the story before I actually begin it.

~Warning~

This isn't going to be all that focused on the yiffing aspect. This is a romance about two loner kitsune on a far-off world who are about to face one hell of a challenge. Also, its got combat type elements in it, with much much more to come, so if your looking for material to paw off to, this isn't it.

All characters copywrite me, their player; If you want to use them, just give me credit in the story and you certainly may.

~Foxx's Saga~

Chapter 1:

Outcasts

~~~~~~~~~~
She blinked several times. It had been such a strange dream. Or was it a vision? The vixen sighed heavily. It was hard to tell for all of her kind. Illusions, loss of controll, and being singled out by most of the other furs living there. This was the life of Foxx.
She twisted around, pulling herself from the mesh of her bed, a simple hammoc-like device. She softly padded over to her desk. Her black furred paws idly flicked through her clothing, choosing a simple robe. She yelped softly as her left ear caught in a loose thread that managed to loop itself around the tip, rubbing it between thumb and forefinger as she used her tails as a second hand to help tie up the sash. Her jewel-green eyes slowly mapped out her appearance.
She glanced up to inspect the black eartips. Seeing no damage, her eyes looked lower, sighing as she stared back into her eyes. Her ice-white hair, one of the marks of her unique character. The hair hung down rather low over her eyes, half-hiding the strange black markings that ran like a broad sword scar over the bridge of her muzzle among the mask of orange-red fur and white under the muzzle, both of which ran along her eyes with her shoulders. The top of her fluffy white furred cleavage was still exposed, but the rest lay below the soft blue fabric of her robe, gently accentuating her chest.
She sighed. Despite the fact that her endowment was nothing to scoff at, there were other vixens who had been given even larger chests than she. She felt inferior because of it, a glittering tear forming on the ridge of her eyelid, threatening to fall over the edge and cascade down her face. She rubbed her black paw over her face, drying her eyes and forcing her eyes to move lower.
Her waist was slender, but not in a supermodel-like way; her arms, chest, and in fact her entire body was slightly sculpted, enough muscle to be built, but not so much to be obvious. The soft reddish fur faded back to black at her ankles, below which she stood on a pair of feral-like paws. They were larger than a humans would be, but that could possibly be a deception. Beneith those large toe-joints lay vicious claws. She shuddered.
She knew she couldn't wait anylonger as she heard the cry of some mystic bird almost right outside her window. She rushed out, grabbing her staff, climbing onto the back of the avian who had made the strange musical call.
"Sorry Fae, I just got... distracted. And I overslept." She added quickly, a blush glowing faintly through the white under her chin, the only place where it was obvious. The phoenix clacked its beak a bit impatiently, eager to be on hir way. Flames rose under hir wings as the hermaphrodite bird took off lightly, rising into the mystic purple sky in a swirl of embers.
The largest of planet Lacune's many moons shone down upon them. Lacune was a strange planet, a mysterious twist of fate lining it up in just the right position that the sun always shone on the other side of the planet, the seven moons reflecting enough light and heat to keep it from becoming a frozen wasteland, while blocking out the sunlight for a mysterious eclipse-generated night on the other. Foxx watched those living out their lives below, wishing she could just be normal for a day, and join them.
"You're awfully quiet today, young kiasu." Foxx winced at the name. "Does something trouble your mind? You seem to be distracted, more than usual." The vixen sighed heavily. "Its nothing, Fae. Just... thinking." She tilted her head, her eyes narrowing as the phoenix laughed. "Thinking, you say? And what has brought about this unexpected change?" Shi nearly fell out of course between hir laughing and Foxx buffeting hir across the face with her tails.
"Ive been thinking about myself, and..." She lowered her voice conspiratorially as if the vixen feared someone would overhear. "And I've been having some trouble sleeping." The phoenix looked puzzled. "What do you mean? A lack of rest or unpleasant dreams?" The vixen sighed happily without really realizing it. "No, definitly not unpleasent. I mean, I'm not even sure, they're almost like visions, more than dreams." She explained the gyst of her problems to the phoenix, the closest thing she had ever known as a mother (or father depending on hir mood), as they winged their way towards the perminent horizon line.
A massive structure of slate, granite and glass rose before her as Faelustra (No one ever adressed her with her full name unless they had to) gave her a gentle hug, resting her forehead against hers in the Lacune Moon farewell. Several of those gathered gave her a rather cold stare before they went on their ways. The vixen kiasu sighed. This is why she hated being different.
You see, sadly, as with most sentience, the people of Lacune fell victim to a degree of discrimination, as those from the side facing away from their sun, the Lacune Moons also known as Lunari, had not long ago been fighting against eachother, as they for decades, centuries, millenia beyond written memory. The Lacune Suns, the Solari, claimed the Lunari had begun it all, and of course, the Lunari said the same of their sunside counterparts. There was little different between them, aside from a few distinguishing marks and social customs.
The Lunari had a softer voice and cooler tounge, but could truly be identified with their eyes, which seemed to glow violet, green and electric blue as if they held the very color of the seven moons in them. The Solari were marked with brighter fur, sharper wit, and often as not flame-like markings at the wrists and ankles, for most of the planets species were canids, with the odd avian such as Fae. But all had an almost luminous golden tailtip and eyemask like a raccoons markings.
Foxx had neither. She was a kiasu, the mysterious one in ten thousand vulpine blessed, or cursed, with her whitish hair, unique black facial marks, and multiple tails. She was an especially rare kiasu for being blessed with not two, not even three, but four long, strong tails which, as Fae said, "Flow like the white light of the moons and red fires of the sun". She stroked her tails slowly out of habbit, and even she had to admit, no one could claim to have softer and more beautiful tails.
"Tyro!" A wise but commanding voice rang out, speeking to her in the Old Lacune tounge, which roughly translated into the speeker, a kiasu whose fur had silvered with age, inquiring to why she was standing around. "You Foxx shall be late for the classes!" He added in a markingly accented modern tounge, shaking his staff which doubled as a walking stick.
"Sorry, High Kiasu Targratto." She fairly flew up the steps three at a time, causing her elder to mutter to himself about the reclassness of youth. "Though she is beginning to mature, in body mind and spirit." He mused mentally to himself, climbing after her as fast as his aging limbs would allow, cursing in Old Lacune and waving his staff, forming a glittering cloud which ferried him to the top.
The Kiasu Acadamy was an ancient building, from before the civil war of Solari and Lunari. It was a refuge and training ground for them. It was there that they learned to curb their powers, as well as being one of the few places they ever met their fellow Kiasu. (Lacune is quite a bit larger than earth, though slightly less dense, keeping the moons in close orbit but not making the graviy more than 2 or 3 Gs.)
Their teachers, High Kiasu, taught the most advanced students, who taught the younger students in a long chain. Foxx was at the third level of her training of the six, the sixth rewarded with the rank of High Kiasu and the beginning of her career. She was a fighter by nature, the Templar, leader of the Acadamy, had seen that right away, though he refused to tell her more. She made her way towards the Arena, the wing of the temple where soldiers, warriors, and in these days of peace, guardians and peacekeepers were the norm.
Her paws padded swiftly down the stairs, before freezing mid-step. There he was; the one in her dream vision. She blushed, ears laying back as if stunned, hardly blinking. Shadow was a mysterious and (she realized with a jolt of embarrasment, feeling herself becoming uncomfortably warm) very attractive. His fur was midnight black head to toe, except for his pure white hair a stunning contrast, as were his eyes, twin silver almonds without a trace of black or white in them. He was a rare Lacune who decended from those living on the edge of the sun and moon sides.
His power was incredible, his reputation outstanding, but he took it all in stride. "He's always been just as quiet and a loner, just like me... He was the first kiasu I ever met..." she thought so herself, watching his toned, sleek form as he began an early warm up wearing (to her embarrased pleasure) nothing above the waist and a sleek pair of black silk combat pants to match his fur.
She punched herself in the head without really trying to hurt herself. "Idiot, idiot, how can you be thinking about him like that, he's been your best friend since we were about 7 years old..." She sighed, slowly walking down the steps and slumping down on the grass where she was supposed to be meeting up with her teacher.
"Foxx. Hey Foxx!" A wolf jogged up to her holding a runeboard (a version of our PDA) checking through the mass of complex shapes and symbols. "Right on time" she thought to herself, heaving herself upright as she pretended to have only just noticed her.
"Oh, hello High Kiasu Starlight." She said, bowing to her mentor, an energetic and friendly white wolf who had forced her out of her shell long enough to develop a bond of friendship with her, though Foxx had her suspicions that there was something more there.
She pointed over her shoulder at the black vulpine Foxx had been watching avidly. "You'll be training with Darren today, on advanced energy matricies." She sighed heavily as her student gave her what she hopped was an innocently confused look, fighting the muscles in her face to hold back her blush. "Psi-shield and blades, Foxx."
"Oh, yes, of course." Foxx said, a little too quickly as Starlight detected her blush through her fur, resisiting a grin. "Well, hurry up, Foxy" she used her nickname, putting on a grin. "You don't want to leave him waiting do you?" Foxx giggled rather weakly, giving the wolf a hug before running off, breathing heavily as she inwardly leaped with joy, bowing towards him as their session began, not seeing Star's sigh of longing as the warmth of her arms faded away.
"Well, Foxx, I see you've gotten excellent ratings from all your partners, aside from a lack of focus and will. Lets begin with basic energy-mapping and step it up from there." He smiled warmly at her, their tails swishing excitedly as they psyced themselves up to train.
As they began building their energy supplies (I won't bore you with details, god knows I already ranted enough) she found it suprisingly easy to do what she was trying to do. After instructing her on some new finer points, they began practicing, alternatively thrusting with their psyically controlled blades or countering with their similarly operated shields.
"Excellent thrust, Foxx. Now to test your focus." Darren said after 3 minutes of back and forth training. He began firing off questions in a slighly out-of-breath voice, still lunging and parrying. "What are the four elements of Lacune Kiasu?" She rolled on her side to avoid the blade, having failed to guard in time while thinking. "Mind, Light, Fire and Power." Darren had to parry her slash with both blade and shield. "Good. What are the Solari qualities of the seven moons?" She crouched low, holding the shield in front of her like a wall to work on the answer. "Courage, Hope, Faith, Justice, Ambition, Lust and War." The blade hammered at her shield until she swiped at his feet, causing him to jump backwards. "Excellent..." Darren added, bringing his shield in front of himself, signaling her with his hand to stop for the moment.
"Now, what are the Lunari qualities of the seven moons?" He asked, walking wearily and flopping down beside her, pouring a flask of water over his face. She responed, closing her eyes and trying not to stare at him, trying to forget the dream now that he was so close to her. "Peace, Love, Serenety, Justice, Tradition, Restraint and Logic." She added. "Both sides having their merits, and shortcomings." He looked over at her, obviously impressed. She wished he hadn't, as she found herself struggling to keep her mind straying back to that dream, or was it a vision. "Oh please let it be a vision" she thought to herself
Darrin's words interruped her thoughts and struggles. "I'm amazed you've picked up on that already." He sighed, laying back down and staring at the dome-like blue glass ceiling up at the moon-filled sky. One fur's law is another fur's oppression, and his fight for freedom is the other's definition of terrorism. If only this alliance didn't feel so shallow. Why can't we just all get along and ignore the petty differences between us?" He turned to look at her as if for an answer, only to see her emerald eyes filled with tears, burying her face in her arms in her lap.
"Whoah, I... I'm sorry, Foxx. I must've touched a nerve there or something or..." his voice trailed off as she raised her head to look into his eyes, the look she gave him so filled with her unspoken emotion it was almost a palpable force. He felt her hands enclosing his, softly murring despite himself as he felt their hands held together.
"No, Darrin, its just... I... I can't say." she said, dejectedly, sinking back into her tears, gasping out through sob-wracked breaths. "You're the first guy whose ever listened to me shooting my big mouth off like that and not wanted to either slap me for being what they think is a traitor to Lunari or else running away. None of them ever understands me. I'm an outcast..." she looked up, her eyes widening with disbelief and joy wound tightly together as she saw those silvery eyes looking back into hers only a few inches away.
"Foxx... So am I." he said, his voice heavy as if every word threatened to trigger a break down in himself. "I know exactly what you're going through." The black fur on their hands seemed to meld as he gave hers a firm squeeze. She felt her mind racing as she wondered if she dared to tell him her dream, vision, whatever it truly was. She gulped, feeling as if his hands were giving her strength enough to speek again, not knowing exactly how to say it.
"Darrin... Have you ever had... you know... dreams? Not ordinary ones, but ones that seemed so much like they were real?" She said, her voice quavering as his strange silver gaze couldn't tell her if he was feeling the same or just listening. "Listening..." She thought, the first person besides her parental figure or teachers who ever had since she could remember...
"Well, last night, I had something like that. I've had dreams that turned out to be visions. This, I think, might... have been one of them..." she said, her voice starting to quaver a little until she felt him give her another gentle hand squeeze. "Last night I dreamed that something would happen. Something between you and me. I couldn't tell and don't want to guess what but... it..." she blushed, squirming a bit. "it doesn't matter. Soon, I don't know when but soon, something will happen, and things will change. The peace will end soon, and when it does, you and I, and two others I cant remember will have to do something, but... I can't remember, it all faded out at the last minute."
She sat there, slowly pulling her hands free of his as seconds passed in silence between them, closing her eyes and letting her head fall sadly forwards. "Damnit, why did I have to shoot off my big fat mouth agai-" her murmerings were cut off as if a lightswitch had been flipped, triggered by the feeling of his hands on her shoulders and his tails against hers.
As she raised her eyes to him, trying to speek, she found she couldn't. Her lips felt like they were on fire, a flame spreading down to warm her body as she found his lips pressed against hers in a gentle kiss that while breif, seemed to last an eternity to her. "I've had the same dream before. I know where it goes, and I didn't dare to hope, but now that I know its you..." he said, looking softly into her eyes. "I know I don't have to be afraid to show it anymore. Foxx..." now it was his turn to pause due to emotional overload. "I... I think I like you, but more than just that I..." He stammered, slowly looking down to where he felt the vixen, hugging against his chest. She looked up at him, feeling as if destiny were about to hit her hard. "I know."
