Eight AM, Saturday morning. The city of Richland, Washington stirred from the slumber of early morning. Richland was a small town, but it was bustling with college students, brilliant scientists, and plenty of high schoolers. One such high school student, Anna Sandoval, rolled out of her bed with a grunt, landing inches from an airsoft pistol carelessly left on the floor. Lying on her floor for a few moments, the mouse examined her carpet in a detached daze. With a sigh, Anna peeled herself off the floor, taking a mental note to steam clean her carpet at some point. She huffed as she checked the time on her now obsolete iPod touch. "Can't even get an extra hour of sleep, really?" Anna strode down the hallway in nothing but a shirt and panties, brushing her hair as she went. It was too damn early to be awake, but since she was already up... She was the oldest of her mother's three children, at the age of seventeen, and the only girl of three. The mouse pokes her head through the curtains covering the sliding glass door, looking into the back yard. Snow, lots of it. "Damn, looks like it's time to dig out my boots," The mouse grumbled to herself as she finally stepped into the small kitchen. Two bowls of cereal, a glass of orange juice, and a banana later, Anna wandered back into her room and steeped out half an hour later, looking nothing like the mouse that had fallen out of bed an hour ago. She wore a tight fitting, black trimmed, shock white hoodie, with matching miniskirt and snow boots. Her outfit seemed rather out of place, considering the chilly weather. Anna poked her head into her youngest brother's doorway, "Yo, Adam, can you let mom know I'm over at Kamryn's?" At six foot one, Adam towered over his sister, who was four years his senior. "Yeah yeah, I'll let her know when she wakes up, shorty." Anna was... Short, to say the least. At the age of seventeen, she was a mere four foot five, and likely would never grow past that. Rolling her eyes, she lifted her laptop bag from the hook on her door, and strode out of the house into the snowy wonderland of Richland.

Nearly half an hour later, Anna was still trudging through the snow. She still had another fifteen minutes or so, as the crow flies, until she reached Kamryn's apartment. The mouse's hand safely tucked inside the spacious pocket of her hoodie, she ducked inside one of the many coffee shops that dotted the city to warm up a little, grabbing a hot chocolate just before she slipped back outside. Hot cocoa in hand, she trudged onwards. Another mile later, Anna knocked on the rust red door of Kamryn's apartment. The door swung open almost instantly, as a white and gray saber-tooth tiger launched itself through the doorway, knocking the mouse over. "Ohmygod ohmygod ohmygod, where have you been?" The tigers asks excitedly, planting a kiss on Anna's cheek. The mouse's ears turned flush red as Kamryn planted another kiss on her left cheek. "Kamryn, get off, please... I really don't want my laptop getting wet..." The mouse groaned as she attempted to wiggle free of the tiger's grasp. Kamryn didn't respond, and instead yanked Anna inside, the mouse's laptop trailing behind her. Grinning gleefully, the tiger set Anna down on her couch and flopped down next to her. "Well hi there, beautiful," Kamryn said, looking over the mouse's small frame, "How have you been?" Rolling over onto her back, Anna grinned back at Kamryn. "Oh... You know. High school's been brutal as usual, my family is as much of a pain as it always has, but now that I've seen my girlfriend again, I'd said my weekend's been pretty good," Anna said, kicking her boots off. Two hours passed as the girls chatted away, updating each other on the recent events, mostly on Anna's trip to Russia, of which she had many, many pictures saved to her laptop. One such picture was her, in the Russian countryside, wearing the same outfit she was now, and clutching the teddy bear Kamryn had bought her for Valentines Day. While Anna gazed at the picture on her laptop, Kamryn quietly slipped away into her bedroom, returning with a teal necklace box that had a white bow tied around it. "Hey, I have something for you~" Anna blinked as the box fell into her lap, snapping from her daydream. She mumbled something unintelligible, staring at the teal box. "What is it?" She asks, looking confused. Kamryn responded with naught but a giggle, watching as Anna slipped the bow off the box and opened it. A black velvet choker and a note written upon parchment. The mouse gasped, and set the box down beside her, hugging Kamryn. "I... I don't know what to say. It-it's beautiful." Kamryn purred happily, pulling her mouse into her lap. "I thought you might like it," she purred, nibbling on one of Anna's ears. The mouse squirmed, but she kept nibbling, as she knew Anna enjoyed it. This continued for several minutes, and the mouse's face had turned a deep, flush red. "Kamryn... Stop..." Anna groaned, attempted to wiggle free of her girlfriend's grasp for the second time today. The tiger sighed and released her prey... For the moment. "Say, do you have any plans for Christmas?" "Wha-what? No, no I don't.... Why?" "I was thinking over the probability of you being with me for the rest of the week. What do you think?" It was the 21st of December, Christmas was not even a week away. "I... Y-yes," Anna squeaked, blushing again.

Two AM, Wednesday morning. Christmas. A hollow thump echoed through the apartment as the front door's deadbolt blew apart. Waking with a start, Anna fell out of bed, again, unsure of what was the source of such a noise. Surely, it was someone slamming a door downstairs, right? Kamryn thought otherwise. The tiger slid silently out of bed, reaching underneath it as she landed deftly on the floor and pulling out a compound bow and its quiver. She crept around the bed, stopping behind Anna. "Sweetie, I need you to stay here, okay? I'm going to be right back." The mouse's sleep addled brain could not process what was going on, and she blankly stared as Kamryn slipped out into the hallway. A clatter could be heard in the kitchen, and a light was on. Scanning the hallway, she slip a carbon fiber arrow from her quiver. Kicking the door open, snapping the bowstring back, the tiger's eyes darted about the kitchen, looking for signs of occupation. Movement behind her, damn! "Anna," She called out tentatively, "Is that you?" Anna, in fact, had yet to leave the bedroom. She was too busy huddling in a corner, awaiting Kamryn's return. She stared blankly as the door creaked open and two black figures crept in, clearly armed with knives. As the figures crept closer, Anna let out a shriek of terror. Kamryn would've heard the shriek if she were dead, and this sent the tiger flying to her bedroom. She had never heard Anna scream like that, and that couldn't be a good sign. Re-drawing her bowstring, she rammed the door open, her eyes blazing with a fury unknown to even Satan himself. A nondescript wolf held Anna by her arm, with a knife to her throat. In a deep, gravely voice he said , "Move one more inch, and she dies." Kamryn's mind raced through all of the possible outcomes, and none of them ended well. She stood there in a daze, waiting for the wolf, or his partner in crime, to make one wrong move. It was in fact Anna who would move first. The mouse, in a frightened fury, slammed her foot into her assailants knee, ducking under his knife as she stumbled forwards. Kamryn reacted next, her arrow flying from the bowstring, lodging itself in the wolf's hand. Anna skittered across the room, dodging the second invader's desperate attempt to grab her. The mouse lost her footing again, falling flat on her face in front of Kamryn. Kamryn stepped forward, knife drawn as she pushed Anna behind her. "Who the hell are you two working for? Tell me, now!"
