#2 of Journey of the Dark Crystal

The first chapter! Okay!

Warning to you all:

This chapter contains extreme gore and violence, in tone to the darker story...

Anyway, here Avila got into problem for the local inhabitants.

The World of Darkness

Avila couldn't find anything that emitted light there. All was dark, even darker than the night. The portal led her to some place far from where she usually travelled, but something in there felt hollow. It was like as if she wasn't alive at all. The void...it was like the death claimed her.

"No, I refuse to accept if I have died," thought Avila while making a low growl of disbelief. "Think, Vila, think! Something here must be a barrier, or another world, or...that weird dark void I could use."

Like a lightning bolt, Avila knew the void, although different, was still the same with her self-named Emero Carought (Dark Prison), and she was the victim. Knowing how her victims always said to the dragoness that the darkness nullified her senses, including draconic senses. It happened there. She couldn't see anything, only can hear complete silence, and she couldn't even take any smell. She felt numb when she knew everything around her was an eternal void of darkness.

But she refused to give up. Some parts in her demanded that she stood up and keep her head high as a proud dragon she was. She wasn't like her own race. She's her own, and now she would try to use that Darkness-based claw attack she somehow copied from that dangerous voodoo dragon.

Concentrating her Darkness power to her claws, she then jumped and roared while slashing the darkness with her front legs, and she won.

The darkness made way for her, and she fell. She managed to open her wings and straighten...

An image of a horrifying dark image with green eyes flashed in front of her eyes while she blinked. The image scared her, as it was her usual nightmare. She forgot that she was still falling and she forgot to flap her wings because of the image. She fell hard, almost cracking her neck and her skull. Sudden dizziness came to her, and she fainted on the dark soil.

She woke up from the voice of some males, surrounding her. She could still feel the pain on her chest part, and it was very painful. She first thought she was dead, and that was the last memory of pain she got when she fell.

"This small dragon trespasses the territory," said a voice. A very gruff voice. "Eventhough it isn't a light dragon, we have to dispose of it."

"But, what if she's a Dark Sentinel?"

"Bah! We don't need any proof for them, right?" The tone of the male becoming more sinister. "We just need to dispose both her soul and her body...in pieces."

"You're right, but how about the bloods?"

"That's why I asked you to tie it up and we'll do this in a secluded place, you slow-thinker! I'm going to help you."

Knowing the aura of them both were very dangerous, especially they had a gut to even kill a dragon in a sadistic way (in Avila's own world, dragons were the mightiest beast), Avila tried to struggle, but she realized her front legs were bound together and it was only time until the back legs were tied and she was hope...

"Wait," thought Avila. "I can't just give in! I must strike them the fear of meddling with me!"

She them released her fear power that gave away high-pitched sound. She then opened her eyes and found out the men were distracted by the illusion, and so to at least help her own body to get out from them, she flapped her wings, giving out a powerful wind enhanced with her wind element, to a surprising effect.

She felt her bonds cut out, including some patches of the land and one of the unfortunate men's hand got cut. The hand was still writhing on the floor, and a hysterical scream as if he was dying was out from his mouth, echoing in Avila's head. She didn't feel uneasy, or annoyed, but strangely pleasant, as if it was her medicine.

"What?!"

"This beast cut my hand! I...it's dangerous!"

"Cut her here! We can't draw more attention or it's our lives they'll get!"

"Oh no you don't, you puny humans!" exclaimed Avila with a roar. As quick as a wind, she opened her black wings and flapped once. The powerful gust of wind pushed her upward and she flew away to the bright place, thinking it was morning.

"What are those humans thinking?" thought Avila while beating her wings to propel her body faster. "What world I've got stranded to?"

A roar from a dragon quite close to where Avila flew took her attention. When she turned her head back, she saw a bright red dragon pursuing her from behind in an increasing speed, though still couldn't match her speed. She was pretty confident on her flying, until she felt hot heat of fire coming out from the dragon's maw, toward her. Turning her head back again, she realized the dragon started to gain on her, and Avila realized her flying wasn't very fast if compared in her world, also realizing the place had almost no wind at all.

Thinking hard, Avila resorted in a way to out-maneuver the dragon, and she did. Pretending to be tired, Avila closed her wings for a moment and let her feather-weight body fell to the earth. When she saw the dragon was taken into her trap, she opened her wings and made a 180 degrees turn to her back and while turning, made a claw slash attack that expanded in range because of darkness-enhanced. It hit the not expecting dragon square at its neck, sending gores down to Avila. But then, when it bore deeper, it didn't cleanly cut the dragon's neck, but blowing the dragon to pieces of meats that rained down to her, both surprising and disgusting the small black dragon.

"What in the world happened?" thought Avila while she landed on her four legs gently. "I...don't know that darkness claw attack that dark dragon used on me can have an exploding effect. He must've not taking me on seriously, or taken by surprise that I'm seemingly unaffected by his claw attack. Maybe my scales are covered with dark-based protection unknown to me. Anyways, the place sure is strange. It's pretty bright around here with...black and white scenery and weird creatures? Am I in a place in a demonic world?"

Then she walked toward a black place she thought could be a good place to lay off for a while without taking so much of a disturbance from the weird creatures like the mix of a bird and a lizard that was like a feathered dragon if seen from far away. At least Avila could still rest a bit after the tiring talk and fight she got from the black dragon...and the trauma of being left by Ray. Nor did she care anyway, but the thunder dragon was one of her true friends aside from her mate, and of course some of them were her friends. Her past was not bright as a dragon, but at least, having trustful friends around her made her ease up on...

A rustle of voice caught her attention. It was pretty near to her dark place and of course she was well-aware on it. Hearing the conversation made her becoming more and more confused on the condition of the place she was into.

"She's resting at the light area," said one voice. "She could be a traitor."

"No! Look at those goddamn scales! She had black scales. She's one of us."

"We've got reports that there are dark dragons defecting to the light just because they want to leave the dreadful world behind. Because of that, we've got a whole lot of problems with those pesky humans. You got what I mean? We must kill her, if it has to break the rules of our Sentinel. Not that we care about that, aren't we?"

"Jekizira, we're not here to kill," said the other voice, now in a deep monotone voice. "She's not clearly defecting. Just because she crossed the line, doesn't mean she's a traitor. You're just thinking too much, my dragon. And also, she's hurt."

"Yeah, right. You're always the thinker, Tarkas. Really neat."

"Stop that. Now you want to help her or not?"

"I won't really touch anything that went through the border. Only she could go through, seeing that she's unaffected in the light place."

Avila knew the voices in the dark wanted to help her, but they couldn't as she was in the light place she was now and they were in the dark place. Well, her eyes really messed her vision now, and judging from the fact they said, she might be a little too exposed. Maybe she was resting when the 'light' part was morning and the 'dark' part was night. It was really a weird world she went into, but nevertheless, she slowly understood the life there.

Walking to the dark part, she was very surprised the dark part was very dark to the point she couldn't see anything. She was also caught by surprise when something pulled her tail and threw her to a soft scaly back she knew from a much larger dragon.

"Hey, you sure about this, Jek?" said the voice. "She's quite heavy, you know?"

"I'm the one throwing her on my back, so quit yappin' and jump on my back too. We're leaving to the Cave."

Avila knew trusting some dragons she couldn't see in the dark could somehow mean the end on her life, but there wasn't anything to say again. Now she was injured by some scratches the dark dragon gave her, and she was so hungry that she could eat a whole lamb that could choke her little body.

At least, being safe after a while was worth noting, right?
