#4 of Gemini - Book 1

The fourth part of Clovers adventure.

I don't of My Little Pony.

From deep within Clover's sleep a faint tapping could be heard, and the volume of this disturbance grew louder and louder with each set of three taps until he was roused from his slumber. Waking up to find himself, lying upon the floor of the living room was a mystery to Clover, but for now he had more pressing issues, like the repetitive rapping at his door. "(Yawn) who is it?" He asked the mystery pony behind his door.

"Clover it's me, open up." This voice did not belong to a pony at all; it was easily recognised as spike.

A quiet clunk could be heard from the door as it was unlocked and opened to reveal, as he had expected, a young purple dragon. "Spike, what's wrong?" Asked a dopey Clover.

"What's wrong, what's wrong? How about all the ponies outside your shop, the fact that its 2 pm and your just waking up, or possibly the rumours that you were mugged! What have you gotten yourself into?" Asked the dragon as his rage quickly turned into concern.

"I honestly don't know." Stated Clover as he moved back from the door allowing Spike to enter. "I've been having weird dreams lately and I feel really... strange, I just can't fully describe how I feel."

"What sort of dreams?" Asked an over excited Spike. "Umm, I mean, who's in them, what are they doing, what are you doing to them?" Clarified the flustered dragon.

"I don't remember much, but what I do remember I really don't like. Even with the small segments that remain, they terrify me." Replied Clover who was still quite unsure on how to take Spike's sudden mood swings and choice of phrasing.

They sat in complete silence for a minute or two, not knowing what to say next, until Clover decided to break the tension as something that was bothering him had bubbled to the surface uncontrollably. "Why were you so excited about me having weird dreams?" He just realised what he said.

"W... Well it's... It's because I have been having weird dreams to." Spike said as he became more and more nervous for no apparent reason. Clover was intrigued, he wondered if his plight was affecting others as well. Clovers unconscious change in presence did not go unnoticed.

"The dreams have been about myself, how I see myself and others, mainly Rarity." Clover now realised what was going on, he would often hear about Spike's infatuation with this Rarity from other ponies.

"I'm sorry Spike if I brought up a delicate issue and you don't have to talk about it if you don't want to, but I don't think I'm the right guy to come to for advice with girl troubles." Interrupted a clearly uncomfortable Clover.

"It's not girls that I'm having troubles with." Muttered Spike.

Clover could see where this as going and he needed to get out of there fast. "Hey, Spike, would you like something to drink, maybe some tea, coffee. I'm a little parched." The fidgety stallion interrupted once more as he made his way to the kitchen. It wasn't that Clover didn't like Spike it's just that he didn't like him that way. At least, that's what he thought.

"STOP!" Cried Spike. "I need to get this off my chest." Clover was visibly shaking now. "I love you, Clover."

What happened next confused Clover, all his anxieties disappeared, and the tension between them was gone. The realisation of what happened had hit him as soon as he heard the click from his door closing. The stallion turned to see that spike was no longer there and a single tear had dropped from his mussel.

That single tear had solved the mystery that had plagued him all morning, why was he asleep on the floor. He remembered the muggers last night, the ones Spike talked about, how could have he been so blind to what had happened. That's when a flame of rage so hot it could rival Tartarus itself. Recapping the night's events he remembered his saviour, Mare Do Well, and the respect he had for her. Clover's eyes drifted over to his comic book, Power Ponies, he got an idea, a foolish idea, but one he could not let go of.

"Hello, whoever you are inside my head, could you answer my question please?" There was no reply. "It's just that, I would be willing to give up some control, only some, if I could be like that mare last night and save other ponies from injustice." Still no answer, maybe he was going insane.

"Well, this is unexpected. Calling for my power to help others." The voice echoed within his head. "I guess it is your desire, so then, what are your terms?" questioned the strange voice.

"Umm, is night time good for you? It's just that I don't want it clashing with anything that happens during the day." Replied a slightly scared Clover

"Of course, as I said before, I only want what's best for you." The strange presence said in a soothing tone.

"O.K. yeah, sure. Let's do it." The stallion said quickly, before he could change his mind.

"I shall see you later then. Goodbye." Clover made his way out the door and headed to the library as the echoing voice faded from his mind. Even then he was still unsure if he made the right decision.
