#8 of Time for a Change

Here is the bumper, Xmas episode for everyone to enjoy. Thanks for sticking with me so far, guys!

Spurred on by a desperate need to not get caught, Jenny heaved herself back up to the window. She tried to squeeze an arm into to gap. It was tantalisingly close to letting her in. If only she was a little more flexible...well, if only she was a LOT more flexible she'd be able to squeeze in the gap.

Straining, she tried breathing out. She did not notice the tingling spreading over her whole body until she moved again. Then she noticed it seemed to be 'pooling' in her joints. The slightest movement woke a pins-and-needles sensation in her arms, her legs...even her chest and hips! So intent was she on trying to work out what was going on she did not notice she had squirmed a little further into the window.

Jenny blinked and took stock of her new position. She had managed to wiggle her shoulder and head into the gap, even though she was sure she'd not been able to do that before. 'Maybe I'm getting stronger, or shrinking!' she thought, panicking. Heaving herself against the frame she worked out she was, in fact, not strong enough to bust the window open, and a quick inventory showed her that she was not any smaller than when she set off.

However, as she twisted herself she found she had slightly more freedom of movement in her joints. Not wanting to consider the alternative for now, she simply decided that terror must have unlocked her inner yoga instructor, and tried to go with it.

She breathed out, as much as she could, and began to pull her body through the slit in the window. She tried to ignore the sound of people outside gasping and conversing. After all, they were watching a woman pull herself through a very narrow gap. This would be a remarkable sight on most days. Add to it her ears and horns and you had a real magnet for the gawkers. She pushed hard with one foot against a toe-hold in the bricks, gasping as most of her chest slid into the bathroom, allowing her to breathe again.

Working her other arm inside, Jenny noticed she'd ripped her shirt, badly, on the windowsill. She did not seem to be bleeding, which was good. She took a hold of the sink, knocking her soap and toothbrush onto the floor. With that leverage she began to squeeze her lower body inside. She felt rather odd doing so and looked back. Jenny gasped when she realised that she had contorted herself into a painful-looking twist to grab hold of the sink and still keep her legs and body pointing out of the window.

She braced herself for pain; believing that maybe she had pulled something in her back to get this way. However, when none arrived she tried wiggling her legs. She still felt slightly numb from the cold, and slightly prickly from then...whatever. But, importantly, she did not feel the grind of broken bones in her back, nor did she seem to lack control over her lower reaches.

Gingerly, she resumed her entry to her flat. With an ungainly rush, once her hips were squeezed through the gap, Jenny ended up flopped on the floor of her bathroom. She tremblingly got back to her feet and checked herself over. Aside from her ears, her ho0rns and a subtle, supple feeling in her limbs when she moved, she seemed to be in one piece.

Of course the same could not be said of her clothing. Her shirt with torn from the inelegant entry through the window and the sensible trousers she'd selected to meet the Event team in were grimy and a little grotty looking.

Jenny slammed the window shut and scampered to the bedroom to get changed. She had barely removed her shirt when the doorbell rang...again.
