When a Coyote from Minnesota must face his past will it bring his joy for the holidays or be the final push he needs in his dark life.

Merry Christmas You Sack of Shit

Warning: this story does contain some sex so if you don't like that then you know what to do otherwise enjoy!

Amongst the cold snowfall of a typical Minnesotan day, a heated argument was brewing outside Wayne Gretzgy High School.

"You're a such a sack of shit!"

"Because you're such a bitch."

"What did you call me?"

"Biiiiiiiittttch!"

And as usual Matt and Morgan were going at it. Matt a 6'3 brown furred coyote stood body toned from working out with the high school hockey team. He was the star goalie of his team with a full ride to play hockey at Penn State University. His opponent was a mountain lioness she stared at Matt with as much animosity as her 5'8 fit body could muster; she played with the women's team and was the star center with a full ride to Wisconsin. The two frequently fought like this, but no one was sure why. Before the two could spit any more venom at each other Matt's friend Jim walked over. Jim was a 6'0 tall Siberian Husky who was Matt's best friend since childhood, and one of the defensemen on the high school team. Along with Jim was his girlfriend and Morgan's best friend Eve, out of the four Eve was the least intimidating the petit Mere Cat only stood at 5'2 but was the fastest girl on the women's team.

"What are you two arguing about now?" Jim questioned

"He's an ass!" Morgan spat

"She's a bitch." Matt replied

"Do you two ever stop fighting?" Eve asked, before the two could say anything else to each other Jim took Matt over to the tables students ate at during lunch with now lay bare with students on their way home.

"Dude what is with you two?" Jim started "You are always like this, the four of us used to be great friends."

"Well she has an ego problem and thinks she's better than she is."

"Oh no please don't tell me you brought up the shoot-out."

"Yup." About a month earlier, the women's team was in a shoot-out, if they won: they went to the playoffs, if they lost that was it. When Morgan got up to shoot she deked the goalie out then missed high of the net, resulting in a loss.

"She feels bad enough already Matt, why do you have to add salt to the wound?"

"Because all she does is run her mouth about how good she is."

"So what she is good."

"Not as good as she thinks."

"Seriously the four of us were best friends until we went away for tryout camp freshman year. What happened between you two up there?"

Matt shook his head giving a deep sigh that turned to steam in the cold Minnesotan air. "I wish I could tell you Jim, I really do, but I have no idea. Hey I'm going to head over to open hockey to shag some pucks tonight, want to join?"

"Nah, Eve and I have a dinner date tonight, maybe next week. Hey we only have a few more months until we graduate let's make the most of it."

That was three years ago, since then Matt went off to play for Penn State making Varsity his freshman year, and bringing home two national championships his freshman, and sophomore year. His first year he played against Boston College one of the best hockey schools in the country, Matt had a shut-out stopping all 56 shots, through out that game he laughed every time he felt hurt to alleviate the pain, that earned him the nickname 'The Mad Hatter.' His days consisted of going to class, getting food, practicing with the team, studying then bed. He was popular with the ladies yea, he was the star goalie, but he never felt any real connection to the girls, or to put it plainly he didn't give a damn about those girls. He would frequently blow off a date he had lined up just to skate on the ice or practice mostly because they women weren't important enough to him. Even though he got the reputation of being an ass of a boyfriend because he cared more about hockey then the girls they kept coming. Eventually Matt just stopped trying, if a groups of girls walked over to him, or even just one, he would be polite and talk to them but he would never hint at anything more no matter the cup size he just didn't care about any of them he couldn't figure out why though. The hockey team was like a family but Matt was defiantly the crazy goalie. no one could figure him out. The team would sometimes play games where they would have a beautiful woman go up and talk to Matt and tell her to try to make out with him or anything then the team would place bets how long each girl would last.. Most of the time they left in frustration because Matt didn't respond to their advances or wouldn't even acknowledge them.

About a week before Thanksgiving Matt got an email from Jim. Jim and Matt kept in contact but beyond the occasional text or Facebook message they hadn't talked too much over the two and a half years Matt had been at Penn State. Sophomore year Jim proposed to Eve and she said yes they were agreed to get married after school. The email was an invite to Jim's place for Christmas break Matt, Jim, and Eve's parents were all going on a holiday cruise and left the house to Jim and Eve for winter break. Jim wrote how he missed his favorite mental job goalie and wanted to hang with him just like the old days. Jim told Matt to bring his gear for hockey and whatever girl was on his dick at the time. That last part made Matt think of Jim, and Eve and reminded Matt of his own girl troubles, but he had to admit that he did miss the Husky, so even with a saddened heart Matt accepted the invite.

With Christmas growing closer and the first December snow falling on to the ground Matt came up with the perfect gift idea. He went out and bought and old wooden stick like he and Matt used to use when they first started playing. Using his dissection kit Matt carved several images into the stick starting by the blade where he engraved a husky in hockey gear and coyote in goalie gear with their arms around each other like good friends, the following image depicted the two with the Mites trophy over their heads, with a Mere Cat and Lioness to the side looking very pissed. Next the image showed the four laughing with a heart above the husky and mere cat, then the four at graduation throwing their caps into the air, finally the logos of the three schools the four attended. Looking at the stick Matt focused on the lioness it had been so long since Morgan even entered his mind, supposedly she had been doing well playing for Wisconsin women's team, he wondered if she still was as arrogant as she was in high school. Matt stared at the image he engraved and wondered how his friends really were doing. There's the lies everyone tells each other the "oh yea I'm great" but then there are the true feelings the ones that aren't said aloud. Then the freshman training camp came back to his memory, Matt shook his head violently to chase away the thoughts before they left a pungent stain on his mind again.

Dec 19, 1pm Penn state,

Matt had just finished the last question of his brain draining anatomy final and felt a wave of relief wash over him. Matt quickly darted back to his room to get his bags, and gift stick then went off to the rink to grab his gear before heading to the airport for his flight to Minnesota.

Dec 19, 4pm Minnesota

Matt had landed and was gathering his stuff from baggage when an all too familiar voice rang out from behind him.

"Damn could goalies bring more shit?" Turning around Matt was greeted by a Husky with a shit eating grin no doubt in his mind it was Matt's old friend Jim. The two gave a manly hug before laughing at how each had changed. Matt had been keeping his hair shorter and was more toned from having a professional work out coach, while Jim looked almost the same save for the ring around his finger. "I didn't think it was possible." Jim said "But you're even buffer than you were when you left, the fuck are the feeding you out there?"

"Good to see you too Jim, hey that ring looks a bit constricting." Jim picked up on Matt's real meaning and chuckled

"Nah, Eve's the only one for me man, speaking of where the hot piece of ass you brought?" Matt's ears folded down seeming a bit ashamed

"Oh, I uhhh didn't bring one..."

"Seriously? From what I hear you're beating them off with your helmet?"

"I am I just don't feel anything for those girls, they want my status not me." Jim staggered back in a mock heart attack,

"Wait! The great Mad Hatter isn't boinking the first slut that walks by? Holly shit the east has changed you hasn't it?"

"Yea, yea, let's just get the gear packed," Matt snorted, "By the way, where's Eve?"

"At the house making food." After packing the van full of bags Matt saw there was a lot of room left. Jim told him that they were picking up one of Eve's old friends and bringing her back to the house for the day before she would go off for her holiday plans. Since the flight wasn't due in for another few hours the duo decided to grab a bite in the welcome area. The two sat ate and caught up. Jim was studying for NHL business like he always wanted to while Eve was studying to be a doctor both were pursuing their dreams. Jim told Matt how he proposed to Eve on the same sheet of ice they met on, the husky had a gleam in his eyes when he talked about it obviously strong feelings toward the mere cat. "We missed you around here" Jim told him "You haven't been home since you left. When you're mom told me you decided to take classes year round I gotta be honest I felt a bit alienated you did tell me. You ok though? Something seems to be eating you."

Matt shook his head, to be perfectly honest something was bothering him, he just didn't know what. He just always felt alone whenever he wasn't with the team, to be honest outside of the team Matt didn't have any friends. He had a single dorm-one of the perks to being on the hockey team- but at the same time there was no one around to talk to when he needed it. Every day he looked forward to the ice only because he felt... needed. "Yea, I'm fine." He lied "Just fried I guess." Jim knew his friend was lying but now wasn't the time to call him out on it. The two lightened the mood by talking about crazy college stories and old stories that still made them laugh.

While the two talked a rather threatening looking Rottweiler with a pup around eight or nine years old in tow walked towards the pair. He eyed up the two furs eating and talking and asked what Matt's name was. When he told the rott the pup behind him lit up exclaiming, "See dad I knew it!" the Rott apologized for interrupting them and said to Matt

"My son is a goalie and he and I are both fans of yours Mr. Matt, wait you are the Mad Hatter right?" Matt nodded and bent down to talk to the pup

"So you're a goalie too eh?" the pup was bouncing he was so excited but started to stammer when he talked.

"Y-yea but I'm still l-learning I'm nowhere near as good as you Hatter." Matt chuckled rubbing the pup's head

"Hey I'm sure you're great, don't worry what the score board says whenever you put on that mask you are the best goaltender ever as long you have fun." "Even better than you?!" He yelled

"Much, I still have a lot to learn." With that, Matt signed the autograph and took a picture with the two before they left.

Just as the two left Matt heard a voice call out from behind him "Wow, you changed that was almost sweet." The voice was familiar to Matt but not one he recognized right away. Matt whipped his head around to reveal a Mountain Lioness clade in Wisconsin gear, bags in hand. The lioness looked familiar, but Matt couldn't quite place her. She almost looked like Morgan just more grown out, and something else he wasn't sure of, it was her eyes there wasn't the old stare of hate that Morgan had just normal eyes.

Jim walked over to her and threw his arms around her "Morgan! Good to see you again." Matt sat in incredulous silence there was no way in hell this beautiful lioness was the same arrogant Morgan who hated Matt with such a passion, could it?

"Hey Matt long time no see, how's the chest?" she asked. That was all the convincing Matt needed only he close friends knew about the chunk of sternum he lost in a game. This was in fact the same Morgan who was childhood friends with. But she had grown, it almost looked like she went through puberty again: her chest was broader, bigger, and her face was that of a woman not a teenager.

"Wow, Morgan I didn't even recognize you, been a while eh?" Matt finally said

"Yea it has, how's it been?" The two exchanged a regular conversation like nothing had happened between them. Jim stood there in a stunned silence

"Since when do you two talk to each other like civilized furs?" he asked not believing his eyes. Quickly Matt and Morgan looked away almost embarrassed. It was weird for both of them when they left for school they couldn't stand each other now they were talking like old friends. Seeing that he destroyed the little Christmas miracle that was before him Jim quickly grabbed Morgan's bags and headed for the car, Matt and Morgan in tow.

Leaving the airport and awkward silence hung heavy in the cold air. Beyond Jim's complaints about the weather and horrible drivers, the ride was quite. At one point Morgan asked to borrow Matt's phone since her phone was still in her bag.

After bringing in all the gear, and bags Eve appeared from the kitchen the snow was falling quite heavily at this point already six inches high and only getting higher. The Mere Cat wrapped the snow covered coyote and lioness in warm embrace glad to see her friends again. While the girls sat and talked Jim took Matt out to the back porch. To Matt's amazement it was all the same, everything from the shed they converted into a locker room, to the lake they would skate on when it froze over, even the fire pit was still there. Matt was suddenly hit with a flood of memories from yesterday's when the four would spend snow days playing hockey on the lake all day. Boys versus Girls, Morgan and Matt, versus Jim and Eve, and of course Matt versus all, it almost brought a tear to his eye looking at the snow fall as he could almost see it as the four of them skated around the lioness dancing around the other three, and Matt stopping most shots. Jim threw a beer to his coyote friend; the cold beer on the dry porch was a great feeling Matt hadn't had in a good long while.

"How you and Eve doing?" Matt finally asked.

"Great, we're great man. I wake up every day and can't wait to see her, it's great having someone who's always there when your need them."

"Yea must be...you still play hockey?"

"Yea been playing with the intermural team, we kick ass thanks to a certain defenseman picking up all the slack for the team."

"You mean you're line mate?"

"Ha, funny Wiley Coyote." The two spent an hour like that, just hanging and drinking it did Matt good to hang with his old friend. Though he started feeling, better he couldn't figure out why it was he didn't want to come back to home from school, something that he couldn't quite explain yet. Walking back inside the girls were laughing and having a good time then Matt walked in and Morgan got quite, everything stopped for her. That was when Eve suggested they eat, soup and sandwiches nothing fancy but on a cold snowy day it was perfect. The conversation picked up over food though each reminisced about middle, and high school remembering old classmates, crazy pranks, and the fights that broke out at the hockey games. While they ate, outside the snowstorm raged on, that is when Jim asked the fateful question. "So Morgan how are you spending Christmas?"

"At home, my parents are on a cruise, and left me the house so I was just going to relax there."

Eve then, burst out "No way in HELL you are spending Christmas alone, besides the storm is pretty bad outside, just stay here and spend Christmas with us!" After recoiling at the sudden out burst from the Mere Cat Morgan accepted the offer and lunch continued, but now Matt knew he was going to have to relive a memory he wish he didn't have.

Heading up to the guest room where Matt spent many a hockey weekend staying at. Even the guest room hadn't changed, the hole that Jim made in a drunken post game celebration. It all felt...homey.

Dec 20, 3AM

A ping from Matt's cell phone woke the coyote it came from and unknown number the message simply read "Meet me on the porch if you're up, if not don't worry about it. -M" Curiosity got the better of Matt at 3 AM as Matt slowly got up and threw on a pair of pants and a jacket and walked out through the dark quite house to the back door. Walking out side an excited squeak echoed through the air. Turning Matt saw Morgan sitting on the porch,

"Morgan you're the one who texted me?"

"Yea" she replied "I got your number when I borrowed you phone in the car. Sit down, I wanted to talk to you." Sitting across from her slowly still a bit confused why she asked him out here so late. "You've changed" Morgan started "Not just your appearance, your attitude as well, it's nice to see."

"I'm not the only one, you've change too, it's nice not fighting for a change."

"Yea, hey there's something I need to ask you, and please give me the real answer...how are you feeling, really?"

Matt had to think for a minute, here he was the girl who hated him for years, now talking like civilized furs, and she genuinely cared how he felt. "To be honest" Matt started "I feel...I feel...fine, why, you ok?"

"Hmm, yea, yea I'm fine." She obviously wanted to talk about something but neither were ready to open old wounds "Well, guess I've kept you up long enough...good night." Morgan said as she left.

"Night" he responded. As Morgan went back inside Matt couldn't help but feel he just lost his one chance to make things right.

Dec, 20, 10am

Matt woke with a start as the smell of eggs and bacon filled the room. Staggering down the steps Matt was met with a strange sight. Morgan was cooking breakfast in a pair of slider shorts, and under armor. It had been the first time Matt took a minute to admire just how great she looked. The way her butt swayed side to side walking around the kitchen, or how sandy brown fur...glistened with sweat? Matt putt two and two together and figured she must have been practicing on the ice earlier. Morgan turned and noticed Matt sitting there staring and quickly covered herself like she was naked and ran up the stairs cheeks rosy red. After making some coffee for every one the lioness came back down the stairs both embarrassed and pissed.

"Freaking creep! What's wrong with you?" She accused, Matt just sat there like a deer in the headlights. "You were staring at me!"

"Well you were the one standing in the kitchen barely clothed."

"You could've said something." The two starting bickering just like old times, except this time there was no hate in their words, no venom spewed, and no feelings hurt.

"You know." Matt said handing the now calm lioness a cup of coffee "It helps to have someone to shoot on, next time instead of waking me up at three to talk for five minutes, ask to practice with you it's been a while since we played together and I'm sure you've gotten better." Morgan froze her cheeks flashed with color even through her sandy brown fur "What's wrong?"

"Oh nothing, it's just weird hearing a compliment from you it's been a long time since you gave me one." Now it was Matt's turn to blush feeling the memories flood back to him. But before he could say anything else Jim came down the steps looked at the two but figured it was better to just let whatever was going on go on. Grabbing a cup of coffee Jim looked at Matt and gave a heavy sigh. Matt knew all too well what that meant. With an audible groan, Matt put his mug down got on a heavy coat and went outside to start shoveling with Jim right behind him.

Because it was still snowing out after the two would get done shoveling and snow blowing they would have start all over again because new snow too its place, meaning they would be out there all day, but it did make walking a bit easier. While the men shoveled outside, the girls sat and talked. Eve finally asked the question that was heaviest on her mind.

"So Morgan where's this guy you were bringing?"

"Oh uh, he uh canceled... at the last minute..." Morgan responded

"Nice try but I know you didn't have a guy."

"How?"

"Because that's the same lie I told your mom on prom night when you and Matt decided to skip and just fight on the ice at open hockey all night. What's wrong Morgan you haven't been yourself lately?"

Morgan knew exactly what was wrong but couldn't bring herself to talk about it now, not yet at least. "I'm fine, guess I'm just tired, haven't slept well because of finals and all."

"You sure?"

"Yea, don't worry about me, a few good days of sleep and I'll be good."

Dec 21, 5 AM

The bright green light on the clock facing Matt read 5 am, his cell phone had woken him up yet again, until he saw that it was the same unknown number as yesterday he would've gone back to bed, but curiosity got the better of him again this time the message read "Hey if you're up come outside, I suggest you dress in layers. -M" As Matt literally fell out of bed to get his clothes he put on a jacket and left for the back yard. When he walked through the door it was still dark as shit out, and he couldn't see a thing. But movement caught his eye and his goalie reflexes took over as he grabbed a snowball out of midair before it hit his face. From out of the darkness a small laugh danced through the night air,

"Wow you're reflexes have gotten faster." A voice called from the darkness, snow could be heard crunching under moving feet revealing a well layered Mountain lioness. Matt however groaned it was too earlier too fight with her now.

"So did you wake me up just to peg snow balls at me or was there a reason." Matt asked, Morgan just shook her head exhaling into the fridge air

"Still a stick in the mud, even for a Hatter, I thought you and I could hold a contest." The sleepy coyote simply sighed questioning what kind of a contest. "Simple really" Morgan started "it's a game I played in Wisconsin, we have a snowball fight, every time you get hit you keep track and when it's all said and done you answer that many questions about yourself. "

"Uh ok two things: One I already know you, two, it's dark as hell out here how can we see each other for a snowball fight?" With that Morgan flicked a light switch letting the other lights around the house to illuminate the winter wonderland, with two well-built forts staring the two in the face. Matt stood there stunned "You built all this while I slept?" Morgan nodded, "for us?" she nodded again "What if I didn't get up?"

"Then I would've done a whole lot of work for nothing." She replied with a smile, Matt just chuckled "What's so funny?"

"I swear you are not the same lioness I left three years ago."

"Hence why we are playing this game." A second later, she darted behind her wall yelling "Go!" The sudden start caught Matt off guard as he was hit twice before he dove behind his fort. Next to him lay a pile of well-made snowballs. Matt began cucking snowballs at the lioness who was currently his mortal enemy. Unbenounsed to the two waging war, Jim was watching the whole thing unfold from his bed room window. He got had gotten up to use the bathroom but was distracted by the laughing and shouting of the two below him. Jim laughed silently to himself as he remembered the last time all of them waged a snow war.

The battle ended after five long minutes of fighting with Morgan charging at the Coyote pouncing on him bringing the two crashing into a snow bank while the two laughed at Matt's mock surrender until their faces met each staring into the other's eyes, both a deep blue that you could swim in. Steam rising from both their burning cheeks the two leapt off of each other trying to pass it off as nothing.

"So...does that count as a hit?" Matt asked trying to return things to normalcy.

"No, that counts as...well basically you owe me a meal." Morgan responded cheeks now redder than before.

"Bull shit, I didn't agree to that!"

"Well too bad you lost."

"I didn't know about that, how's that fair?"

"Who ever said I play fair?"

"So whoever said I was buying you food?"

"Me."

"So I have too?"

"Yup."

"That's horse shit!"

"What you don't want to buy a beautiful lioness a steak?"

"Steak, hell you'd be lucky for taco bell."

"Aww you just said I was beautiful." That caught Matt off guard as he began to stammer to get out of that one.

"w-what n-no I didn't! I w-was just...you know what how about we talk about the hits we got before I we talk about who owes who food." The two sat in the snow bank and talked about themselves for hours, talking as if there was never a dark moment shared between the two. Matt however evaded every question about relationships he could, while Morgan simply said she wasn't interested in the guys at school, just not her type. As the sun began to rise over the mountains around them the two stopped talking and just enjoyed the simply majesty of a Minnesotan morning.

"Hey Matt you still have one more question to answer about yourself." Morgan insisted shifting closer to Matt.

"Ok, shoot."

"How do you feel, really feel not the same line you feed everybody?" Matt stopped for a moment and just stared out at the sun peeking out above the mountains in front of him, he felt this was a good point to just let it all go.

"Well to be perfectly honest I feel...I don't know for the past year of so I've felt...." Morgan was on the edge of her icy seat hanging on his every word.

"Felt what?" She asked. But right as he was about to say it he chickened out

"Well you'll have to beat me in a shoot-out to find out that one." Morgan gave him a teenaged pouting face

"Hey Matt?" She asked, Matt sat up to look at the lioness he expression was one of seriousness which worried Matt "This was fun; I don't think we talked like this since we were kids, it was nice, feel like doing it tonight again?" Matt let out a sigh of relief it wasn't what he thought she was getting at.

"Sure, what time?" He questioned

"Three?"

"Sure that would be nice." That's when Jim the husky came in to ruin the moment with two steaming cups in hand.

"Is there a truce in effect?" He asked from behind the two, Moran shot up to her feet tail straight up in surprise while Matt just let out a sigh,

"More of a cease fire I guess." Matt replied, "Why are you up so early Jim?"

"Well I was taking a piss last night when I saw a war being waged on my yard, what were you two fighting over this time?"

"N-Nothing!" Morgan shouted "We just couldn't sleep, a-and we ran into each other inside t-the I-I-I..."

"Whatever" Jim replied "Hey Eve and I were going to spend most of the day skating you two feel like throwing on your blades and skate around a bit?"

"Like a scrimmage?" Morgan asked

"Nope just skating for now." An hour later the four were skating around the frozen lake like they did as pups, and cubs. There is something magical about skating on a frozen lake it is almost as if all you're trouble just melt onto the ice, well at least most of them did for Matt, he stress was gone but something still bugged him something he locked away a long time ago. All those dark feelings he had, all those lonely nights in his room dissipated. Times where he didn't have practice and spent hours just staring at the ceiling seemed like a distant memory and for the first time in a long time Matt was truly happy again, from the snow ball, to the hot chocolate at sunset. If only he could figure out the thought in the back of his head.

December 21, 1 AM

Matt had trouble sleeping that night, he was like an excited pup waiting for Santa on Christmas Eve, he just lay there watching the number on his clock slowly change, 3 am could not come fast enough for him. He let his mind wonder wondering what his teammates were doing for the holidays and it was going for them, the grades on his tests, and the games he still had to play this season. He scrolled though his phone checking for texts from friends...friends? Ha, funny. Outside of his team the only friends he had were under the same roof as him. Matt began to ponder what his friends did when they didn't have class. Know Jim and Eve when they weren't in class they were probably hanging off of each other the two were inseparable. Then there was Morgan and what an enigma she is. The hadn't talked in years, last time they did they couldn't stand each other, and now it is almost as if there was never a rift between them. But Matt knew better. He knew that before this break was over he would have to relive the camp all over again. The clock read 1:30 and Matt knew he wasn't going to get any sleep so he decided to just go outside now and enjoy the peace until Morgan came out. To Matt's surprise however already on the porch was a sleeping lioness sprawled out on the porch with her phone in her hand, she was half way through a message to Matt that read "Hey can you come out clos-" Morgan was actually pretty cold and her jaw was chattering. Matt figured he should probably put her to bed instead of leaving her out here to freeze. Draping the lioness over his shoulder Matt carried her upstairs to her room, took off her jacket and hat and left her on the bed.

At this point he was already up so he figured why not get some practice in. Since he was a goalie and had no forward to shoot on him Matt geared up and worked on skating and movement skills. He worked on post-to-post drills, up-downs, and challenging the shooter.

December 21, 2AM

After skating for an hour Matt took a break on a nearby snow bank still fully dressed in his gear. He forgot how hard it was to practice as a goalie on your own. Most time when he would practice late, someone would stay behind to work on shooting or his coach would come out to help. Behind Matt, the sound of snow moving was getting louder not the sound of boots in the snow it was crisper like a blade cutting through snow. Then Morgan sat down next to Matt clade in her hockey gear "Looks like you need a practice buddy." She said

"Something like that." Matt snorted

"Well hey while we are out here how about that shoot-out you were talking about?"

"What shoot-out?" He asked

"The one where you said 'you'd have to beat me in a shoot-out to find out how I feel.'"

Matt shook his head letting a sigh escape his mouth then turn to steam on the cold winds "You won't give that up will you?" Morgan shook her head "Fine but if I win you have to answer a hard question too alright?"

"Fine, but how do we do a shoot-out with one goalie and one forward?"

"Simple first to two in a row wins. So either you score twice in a row, or I stop you twice in a row either way first to two straight wins."

"Easy enough," She replied "Normal shoot-out rules?" Matt nodded as the two took their place, Matt in his net and Morgan at the far end with the puck. Matt put his mask down and shouted

"Whenever you're ready!" And with that Morgan came barreling towards Matt, Morgan was the best shoot-out scorer in the WNCAA, while Matt had the highest Saves Against in the NCAA. She cut left and shot high finding twine.

"Honestly it's like you want to me to win." Morgan taunted, then picked up another puck and came right back, this time she deked right, then left and shot low which Matt easily kicked aside. This pattern continued for an hour but for the two players it only seemed like 20 minutes. The only reason they stopped was because they were too tired and needed a break. "So call it a draw?" Morgan asked, Matt nodded grateful to get some water in him. "So we both have to talk right?" She asked Matt just nodded, he couldn't back out now he made a deal, but he couldn't talk about things like feelings on an empty stomach, he needed food. He suggested the two head to the dinner two miles away they could even skate there on the lake. So the two took off their gear and kept only their skates and a second pair of shoes as they skated to the dinner laughing and talking the whole way there.

December 21, 4 AM

At 4 am the dinner was empty save for the waitresses and cooks who now had to do something. However their mood changed once one of the waitresses who went to school with the duo recognized them. After that the pair were signing autographs, and taking pictures like they were pro players. After everyone got their picture and the waitress took the order Matt and Morgan finally sat down still discussing the shoot-out earlier in the morning.

"You it's funny." Morgan said at last "When you left for PSU and won the championship your first two years I would've bet my life that you would have let it all go to your head, become a real ass. But when I saw you talk to that pup in the airport there wasn't a hint of ass talking with him, you didn't talk down to the pup and you even got down to his eye level, I think you even inspired him. When Eve told me you were coming, I thought you were going to be the same Coyote I graduated with I'm glad to see I was wrong."

"You're not the only one, you've changed a lot Morgan I had no idea you were coming then when you snuck up on us at the airport I couldn't believe what I was seeing, you didn't just physically change, your attitude changed too."

"What do you mean physically?" Morgan pried with a mischievous smile just trying to get a quick shot on him

"W-well I mean y-you're uh f-face is different, y-you seem a bit t-taller and you're uhh..."

"Tits?"

"Y-yea..." Morgan laughed at the poor coyote's expression

"I know, that was the first thing Eve said to me too. She just looked at me and said 'damn girl you changed!'"

"Well that's actually what I wanted to talk to you about Morgan..."

"What my...boobs?" she asked confused and embarrassed.

"N-NO, No! I mean, you changed, so I wanted to know...why did you despise me so much in high school, what did I do to piss you off?"

Morgan's head dropped low as she let a heavy sigh escape from the back of her throat. "That is a hard one, I'll need some time to give you an answer, in the meantime can you please answer my question from yesterday?" Matt took two deep breaths a deals, a deal right, just let it all go he thought to himself.

"Well lately I've been feeling...feeling...lost...alone, unlovable, and useless... the only time I feel ok is when I'm on the ice. Yea the guys on the team are cool and all but I just feel like I have no friends. Hell, my day consists of waking up, food, practice, food, study sleep. That's it, I don't go out, I don't have people to hang with I can't hold a relationship because I can't find anything in these girls worth keeping. Everyday I'm come back from practice and stare at the ceiling just thinking how alone I truly am. That's what I've been feeling lately, darkness, emptiness, and cold. For fucks sake most nights I punch my walls until my knuckles bleed just to assure myself that I am actually still breathing and not trapped in some purgatory hell hole." Just getting that all off of his chest was liberating for Matt and he was glad he was able to tell Morgan how he felt. As he lifted his head though fear crept into his head. Looking at Morgan her blue eyes were full of silent tears, he feared he said too much. Before he could say anything, however Morgan stood up and left for the bathroom. Matt sunk deep into the booth seat feeling worse than ever. After how the last couple days had been going Matt thought he could truthfully tell her how he felt, he thought he finally found someone he could talk to, he thought she could handle it but apparently not. He didn't want pity or sorrow from anyone, he just wanted someone he could talk to, someone who be there when he needed it most.

Ten minutes later Morgan returned from the bathroom head to the ground so Matt couldn't see her expression. She took a hold of his arm yanked him out of his seat and told the waitress they would be back as she lead him outside. The snow was falling again as Matt was dragged through the doors. Once outside Morgan stopped dead in her tracks turned around and threw her arms around Matt's waist "I'm so sorry" she heaved, "If I had any idea that's what you felt I would've done anything to help you. How did you deal with all that?"

Matt slowly brought his arms up but then put them back to his side simply replying, "I didn't. Every day the smallest thing would set me off I was always pissed off in my head but I never showed in... I'm just a ticking time bomb waiting to explode."

"Promise me... promise me if you ever feel like that again talk to me. Promise you will talk to me I will always pick up the phone or come out to see you, just don't deal with this alone. Promise me." Matt stood there arms to his sides while the lioness threw herself at his emotions, she genuinely cared about what he was going through. Matt thought he must be dead, because there is no way after what she told him all those years ago that she would act like this. After Morgan composed herself the two went back inside to finish their meal which Matt paid for as agreed, and they just talked like nothing happened mostly about the shoot-out and how they thought they almost had each other several times.

December 21, 10pm

After getting back from the dinner, the four spent the whole day watching good old Christmas movies. By the time Rudolph finished it was ten pm signaling Jim and Eve to go to bed with Morgan not far behind them. Because of Matt's issue when he lost a chunk of sternum some nights his chest hurt too much to sleep, this was one of those nights. So instead of tossing and turning in bed Matt popped a few pain killers and put on his favorite movie "Goon."

December 22, 12:05 AM

As the movie was ending leaving a bloodied buy victorious Doug being helped into the locker room by his girlfriend Evea, it made Matt think about how alike Jim and Eve are to Doug and Evea. No matter what they are still by each other's sides kissing and hugging even when one is covered in blood and missing teeth the are still there. While Doug and Evea sat in the locker room their friend LaFlame was scoring goals with flare it made Matt think of Morgan how she always found a way to win with style, then about everything that happened since the two flew in. Matt thought about the first night how Morgan asked him outside just to say 'how's it going' but thinking back on it now there was something eating her and him truth be told but neither wanted to talk about it then. Matt decided hell he was open with what was bugging him she could at least do the same. Just as Matt was about to knock on the door he thought better of it and slumped down against her door, debating if she would talk about it when's she's ready. He eventually concluded she would but the back and forth in his head didn't stop.

December 22, Dark o'clock???

Matt was woken up by the sensation of falling backwards. As the coyote was greeted by a very surprised Morgan wearing nothing but a short t-shirt and a pair of underwear. In a horsed whisper Morgan asked "Matt? The fuck are you doing?"

"I-I uh wanted to ask you something but then I-I thought I shouldn't wake you and I-I g-guess I fell asleep."

"Get in here." She laughed pulling him up off the ground and into her room. Matt sat in the chair across from her bed while Morgan threw on a pair of shorts. "So what did you want to ask me?" Matt suddenly got cold feet and did his best to get out of there.

"Oh I uh, you know forgot...sorry to wake you and everything, I'm...going to uh see you tomorrow then." And he bolted out of the room leaving a very confused Morgan to stew over what just happened. Matt was kicking himself in room for being such a coward until he eventually fell asleep.

December 22, 7Pm

The four finally had that scrimmage going the wanted to. First it was girls versus boys, then Jim and Eve versus Matt and Morgan, followed by Matt and Eve versus Jim and Morgan which was mostly Jim and Eve bumping into each other for fun and Morgan shooting on Matt. At one point everyone was in Matt's net fighting for the puck Morgan landed on top of Matt leaving their faced separated only by Matt's mask. The two shared a glance into the other's eyes before scrambling off of one another. That look gave Matt the courage to ask her about what was bothering her...later .And by the time they sat down for diner Matt had lost the nerve again. While eating Jim shocked the table with an announcement. While he was out the other day he ran into the guy who owned the local rink they used to play at. He told Jim about a Christmas tournament that was going on and asked if Matt and Morgan could be there as celebrity home town guests. Well Jim agreed "So" Jim finished "You two will need to be at the rink no later than 6 am, also bring you gear, and my car." With that Matt got up from the table with a groan

"Well if I have to be at the rink by six that means we're leaving by 5:15 so I'm up by 4:30, so goodnight." Matt said heading towards the stairs, he figured he'll ask her tomorrow at the rink, what could go wrong...right?

December 22, 11pm ish

The creaking of his door brought matt out of his peaceful slumber.

"Matt?" a testing voice called into the darkness. "Matt...?" Matt just lay still hoping whoever it was would simply go away. Unfortunately the voice and the body it came from didn't leave, in fact it got closer as the floor boards creaked under a set of paws. Matt tried to go back to sleep but when the sheets started moving that was a bit too creepy for him. The would be creep lowered themselves onto the bed and when Matt heard the springs compressing that's when he let them know he was awake.

"Can I help you?" He asked, surprised the figure leapt off of the bed and smack against the wall where a beam of moonlight revealed a feline like body, in pajamas and sandy...brown...fur. Shit was the only thing that came to his mind. Morgan curled into a ball against the wall, and Matt could hear sniffing? Shit she was crying, fuck me Matt thought did he hurt her? Matt feeling guilty went over and sat next to the sobbing Mountain lioness. "...I'm sorry I'm a fucking idiot." He said "I didn't know it was you and I just didn't know you would react like that I'm just, sorry."

"No I shouldn't have snuck in like that." She said in a pathetic voice as she leaned against Matt. "I'm sorry I had a bad dream and I just needed someone around, and well...since you trusted me last night I...thought I could sleep in your bed tonight I just needed someone there, it's a bit creepy isn't it? Just me sneaking into your bed so I could feel better. Look I'll leave I jus-"

"No, no, no you don't have to leave, besides I feel like an ass, so if it'll make you feel better feel free I don't mind."

She looked up him with a slight smile and mouthed thank-you before resting her head on his shoulder as the two sat that illuminated by moonlight.

+/-

4:30 came all too quickly for Matt's liking as he was a wakened by the sound of his buzzing alarm clock across the room. Taking the lazy way out Matt just threw his shoe at the thing, surprisingly none of that woke up Morgan who was still asleep on Matt's shoulder. Gently shaking her awake the lioness picked up leaving a line of drool from her lip to Matt's shoulder. Noticing the string Morgan apologized profusely and then ran out to get ready in her room.

December 22, 6:30 am

The two stood at center ice of their home rink introduced as the celebrity guests: Morgan and the Mad Hatter. All the players lit up with excitement sharing the ice with two of the best college players out there. For most of the day Matt and Morgan sat behind a table and talked, signed autographs took pictures ect. When they weren't dealing with fans the two were just talking and laughing. Spending the day with Morgan made Matt feel like he wasn't just an empty shell like he was Matt again, and it was all thanks to the lioness sitting next to him. Out of pure impulse Matt gave her a hug and just said "Thanks" he immediately regretted the choice as his cheeks radiated with color. Quickly letting go of her Matt looked like a quick way out thankfully for him the owner of the rink came over and asked if they would gear up and doing a little scrimmage with the players. Matt bolted for the locker room just to get out of that situation, leaving Morgan once again very confused. The kids were playing just like open hockey, random teams, and everyone got a chance to both play and take a breather. At one point Morgan had a break away on Matt, just as she went to deke she lost her footing and slipped Matt quickly caught her though out of pure reflexes. She looked up at him and just thanked him saying "Nice catch stud." And skated away. Matt switched out and sat on the bench arguing with himself over what she meant by that. She didn't say that right? Nah she said 'nice catch Matt'...right?" Matt fought with himself like that until he fell asleep that night.

December 23 1 pm

After his impulsive hug, and what Morgan said on the ice Matt did his best to avoid Morgan all day. And so he did, he tried to be unseen, staying out of site never being in the same room as her he even went to bed early. At first Morgan was offended by all of this she thought Matt was going back to being an ass, then it all hit her at once.

December 24, 9 pm

Matt had gone to bed early the previous night but still had trouble sleeping. He would only sleep for an hour or so before waking up hoping his phone would ring and it would be a text from Morgan but sadly, it never came. Matt began to ponder why it was he was so embarrassed around Morgan, and why he so desperately wanted a text from her. After fighting with himself for hours, he finally came to the conclusion that he had feelings for the Mountain Lioness. THAT WAS IT, that feeling he couldn't place, it wasn't despair, or cancer it was love he had a fucking crush that was it! The realization hit him like a ton of bricks, happy bricks if such a thing existed. He finally figured out what was wrong with him...but she made it obviously clear to him that she wanted nothing to do with him at camp

Training camp summer of Matt's freshman year.

The crew had been at camp for a few days now and they were still all friends, Jim and Eve had been going out for a couple months now and the four of them hung out any chance they got. Every night Matt and Morgan would go for a run around the lake to get the aerobic workout in. They would usually laugh and talk, but that night they were both quite. Matt couldn't get a word out of her, then she stopped running, Matt stopped and checked to make sure she was alight. But when she asked she just shook her head and started weeping

"No I'm not alight you fucking asshole ok? I'm not! You always think you're the best, you always need to check on everyone else because they can't handle it, well you know what FUCK YOU MATT! FUCK YOU!" This outburst was startling to Matt what the hell just happened to make her do that. But the more he persisted the more pissed she got until she uttered the fateful line "Get the fuck out of here Matt, get the fuck out of my life, you useless sack of shit." And she walked away. That was when the two stopped talking to each other and from that day forward they hated each other.

The memories finally came back to haunt Matt, that was the day his life outside of hockey began to decay, he started alienating his the rest of his friends, he didn't go to parties or hang out with people he just focused all of his energy to hockey, and he finally understood why. It was cold, the ice kept him from feeling the hurt that loosing Morgan put on him, every time he was a lone it wasn't because of friends, it was because he missed Morgan. Her words did more than sting they cut deep into Matt, he always thought of her as a close friend but now he wished they were more. Her words still haunted Matt to this day he needed to find out why she said what she did.

Suddenly there was a knock at his door. "Matt?" the voice called "Hey, you've been in your room all day, Jim and Eve left for their Christmas date, so we have the house, come out and get some food, you have to be hungry." Matt didn't respond he just laid in his bed teary eyed. "Matt?" again he didn't answer, this time though Morgan came in. Seeing the teary eyed Coyote she moved to hug him "Matt are you ok? What's wrong? Is it your chest again." Matt shook his head. "Then what is it?"

"Why... did you hate me?" He practically whispered. "What did I do to deserve your raw hatred all those years ago?" Morgan knew what he meant cried onto his shoulder.

"I never hated you Matt. I-I just couldn't admit something to myself."

"What was it?"

"That I loved you... I was afraid if I told you how I felt you would push me away so I did first. Why would someone like you love me anyway, that night when I yelled at you I was going to ask you out...but I got scared and I thought it was better to force you away from me before you could. Every time we were together I would eye you up, I couldn't help myself, I just, I just wanted your love, that's all. And fuck you, if you will deny me now!" Morgan then smashed her lips against Matt as she pulled him tighter. Matt didn't quite know what to do, his mind was swirling with emotions, and not sure which ones to feel. He was pissed at how she treated him, but he understood why, he was happy that she loved him too, but nervous to tell her, but mostly he was lost, lost in the kiss they shared, so he chose to feel lost, wrapping his arms around her and kissing her right back. Her tongue rubbed against his lips trying to get access to his maw, parting his lips slightly she took over as the two fought for control of the others mouth. Then they finally separated.

"I had no idea that's how you felt!" Matt gasped breathlessly.

"Ever since the day I first saw you in the championship game, I was hooked. But how do you feel...about me?" Matt gave a serious look, all expression was gone, and Morgan feared the worst the thing she feared her whole life, that Matt would reject her. Then Matt cracked a smile and tackled her to her back mashing his lips to hers once again.

"Dose that answer your question?" Morgan couldn't control herself anymore, she rolled over so she was on top and snaked down to Matt's boxers which she then proceeded to rip off in a single motion exposing Matt's cock to the cold air. But despite the cold air his member grew in size while Morgan ran her pad against his sheath to tease out Matt's sex. Giving his pecker a little peck, she began to run her rough tongue along Matt's 9 inch length, while slowly ripping her clothes off. Before she knew it Matt was at full height as she took as much of him into her maw as she could using her free hang to play with his dangling orbs. She began to slowly bob her head enjoying Matt's scent and taste as long as she could. Before long though her own velveteen lips were swollen with desire and she couldn't wait any longer. Taking her mouth off of Matt's member she kept a paw on his chest to keep him down as she slinked up his body until her lower lips were aligned with Matt's erect cock. She leaned down until her lips were just at the tip of Matt's ears and whispered "tell me what I want to hear and you'll get your Christmas gift."

Matt lay there and let the spirit of Christmas talk for him "You're prefect in every way and my life is hollow without you." At that Morgan began to tear up as she slowly impaled herself on top Matt's cock with a mix of pain and joy. She wanted this cock since she was a girl and now it was finally inside of her. She finally had Matt, and he had her. "Slow down Morgan don't hurt yourself go at your pace, I want you to enjoy your gift."

"I can take it I just...need a little more...to go in AHH!" She finally had Matt's entire length inside of her, slowly moving her hips side to side she relished the feeling of Matt's member invading her in all the right places. Leaning against Matt's chest for balance Morgan began to bounce her hips each time going almost until Matt slipped out before she rammed herself back down filling the room with lewd smacking sounds of hip smacking against hip. Morgan began to pick up the pace as the her own juices began to flow around Matt's shaft and onto his hips she was so close but she didn't want it to end. Matt could feel her pace quicken and he knew she wasn't far off.

"Go ahead Morgan I'm right with you!" with one final trust downward Morgan came, her vent constricting around Matt's cock milking him to cum, Matt trusted once more before letting lose his spunk deep in her. The feeling of Matt's cum filling her insides extended Morgan's orgasm even more. As she came down from her orgasmic high she could feel the warm slolshy liquid in her gut her stomach protruding out slightly from Matt's climax. The two lay there panting, Morgan content with her lover under her, and his seed keeping her insides warm. Morgan laughed a bit, causing Matt to look up quizzically at her. "What's so funny?"

"Your gift made me fat, you sack of shit." She replied with a sly smile.

"Don't act like it isn't what you wanted for Christmas." Morgan laughed again as the two kissed once more

"I guess it is what I always wanted. Merry Christmas you sack of shit." The two lay there as sleep took over their eyes both full and spent, the two new lovers spent Christmas Eve the way it is supposed to be spent. In the arms of the one's you love, showing how much you love each other...while your best friends stand outside your door jaws on the ground.
