How I found the furry fandom / A 20p book and a DSI
Somewhat ironically, I used the dsi in this story to write the story. I should like to thank two people: K.A Applegate, the author of the Animorphs book series and Trenton Foxbear. Without either of these people, I probably wouldnt have found this wonderful fandom.
Finally, I would like to thank Miss Cage the old librarian from my school. She sold me the book in this story.
Also, i find it a weird coincidence that one of the people that started me on the road to finding the furries was Miss Cage. Especially as the organiser of Anthrocon is Uncle Kage. (the difference in name is only 1 letter but they sound the same)
About 3 years ago now, I got a dsi for christmas. Little did I know that the dsi and a book bought for 20 pence would start me on the road to finding the furry fandom. The main feature I used on the dsi was the web browser. I origionally used it to find fokelore tales, which at the time I was interested in. About a year later (two years ago) I went into my school library to find the Subtle Knife. The book that comes after Northern Lights (better known as the Golden Compass). On the day I couldn't find the book so I had a quick browse of the books for sale. A small book caught my eye. On the cover seemed to be a person changing into a hawk, the title read: ANIMORPHS. I cannot quite remember the full title, I know it was the third book in the series. Apon finding 20p in my pocket, I bought the book. The story was full of animal transformations and I began to wonder what it would be like if people were trapped in the bodies of animals (like Tobias from the book). A while later and I had read a few more books from the series. One book I read was an interactive book written in the second person (where it puts you into the story and you make decisions). I loaded up my dsi and began googling interactive transformation stories. I love that site and wrote hundreds of pages myself (under my old non furry name Jake). I loved writing and reading the site and really liked the parts where the reader becomes an animal. Eventually, I began to do random Google searches to find similar stuff. And through websites such as Deviantart and Furaffinity. I began to find more stuff that i liked. Soon I made myself a Fursona, despite still not knowing about the fandom. I made him because I was intrigued by Trenton Foxbear on deviantart. Eventually I found the furry fandom and here I am now.
