-I'm instituting a new system. Whenever I switch from one character to another, i will use ~ that little squiggly thing. This will make it easier for people to discern the changing of characters. This will of course, only happen at the start of a new paragraph, because I won't be switching mid-paragraph.

-pirates

-bow ties are cool

~ I am a man named-, actually let's stop there. I'm not a man, I'm a direwolf. My name is Pat Blackjack, I'm a pirate, a just beginning captain of your run of the mill crew. A first mate named Leroy, a lead cannoneer named Wilfred and some other guy who's name is Phil or something. And that one woman who kicks the ass of any man that checks her out... Which is basically the entire crew. I set out as I pirate for one simple reason, to impress a woman named Tazza. She's a wonderful woman, a tazmanian tiger, and I doubt she even knows I exist. yet! But soon the whole world will know my name...

---several months would pass, and the crew would grow stronger, gaining new members, sailing the ocean, causing thousands of dollars worth of property damage, and even once becoming their own nation due to a technical error! Throughout their adventures they would become notorious, gaining reputation as ruthless, murder loving drunkards, but the reality is quite different... Though they are drunkards >_>

~ "Admiral! Pirates off the port bow!" Cried the man in the crows nest. The other sailors quickly took up the cry. "All men to battlestations! Let's put these pirates in their place!" I shouted to the men, rattling off commands at breakneck speed. The sailors went to their work seamlessly, taking to their duties in practiced precision, as they had done thousands of times before. "Surrender, or face our wrath" called a gruff voice that, upon further investigation, originated from a direwolf sitting cross legged on the head of the pirate ship's figurehead. His face showed a sly grin, like he knew something he wasn't telling. "Ready the cannons to fire" I called out to my men, motioning another man to take the helm as I stepped down towards the side of the ship, considering communicating with the heathens. "And what pirates are you" I called to them across the water, their ship sailing toward us at a speed the denoted a shoddy ship or a crummy crew. "We're the BlackJack pirates!" All their men shouted at once, filling the humid air with noise. Only then did I notice the sail on their ship. A black sail with a white skull and crossbones holding an ace of spades in its teeth. I had never heard of them, nor had I ever seen their flag before. Their men were scrambling to positions, the captain however, stood, er sat, silent, eying our ship intensely. Suddenly he smiled widely, his eyes lighting up in either anticipation or insanity, perhaps both. "Men" he shouted "full sail, drop the oars and start rowing, bring us up to ramming speed!!!" He shouted ecstatically, bringing to me a horrified amazement, his ship gaining speed rapidly. "MEN, BRING US ABOUT, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS!!" I commanded, my men springing into action. The man at the helm called down to me "admiral, there's no way we can avoid them at this range, not with the rudder in disrepair after our impact with that sandbar" he panicked. "Very well. Men, belay that order, they're going to ram us, prepare for battle!" I shouted, the men drawing their swords and readying their flintlocks as the pirate ship approached us, gaining even more speed, cutting through the water like a blade. Their speed made it obvious that the ship's slowness before was a ploy to make us drop our guard. The pirates crashed into us with a deafening crash, splintering wood and displacing one of our cannons. And right as the impact rung out their captain sprung up from his seat, using the ships collision as a boost as he leapt into the air, drawing a cutlass, grabbing a rope midair and swinging along the deck, cutting down four of my men in a single go. "You were warned" he called as his men swarmed the deck, everything devolving into battle, shots ringing through the air and cutlasses clashing, men falling on both sides.

"Your ship is ours" he said to me, pointing the tip of his blade at my neck. "You would like to think so, but I am admiral Deadshot Adams, best shot in the navy, and youre just a bunch of pirates. you're outmatched" I grinned, leveling my flintlock with his furred chest. "And I'm Pat 'Blade Breaker' BlackJack, the best sword in the seas" he grinned, offsetting his blade at a strange angle. "Better men than you have fallen to me, you'll be no different" "if you believe that you're out of your mind" he laughed and stepped forward abruptly, swiping the barrel of my pistol aside as it fired, lodging the bullet in the deck. Slash, barely dodged, putting a hole in my officers coat. I drew my blade, counter striking, which he hardly parried, his movements rough and lacking finesse. Slash, parry, dodge, block. Blade upon blade, sparks in the air. "Can you hear it admiral. The beat of drums, the clash of steel, the call to fight, the call of WAR! Isn't it beautiful" He laughed, slashing at me madly, forcing me back. Parrying one blow, to have him bring his blade back up at a ridiculous angle, leaving me with little time for counter. What he lacked in finesse, he made up for with speed and brute strength. Though his mad slashes left him wide open, He moved too quickly for me to exploit them, barely giving me time to register it before his blade was on mine. This pirate, who could not have been on the seas for very long, was an excellent warrior. "And now I'll show you why I'm called 'Blade Breaker'" he grinned, twirling his cutlass between his fingers, before dropping it clumsily "dammit!" He exclaimed. "You should never leave yourself unarmed" I slashed him across the chest, leaving a shallow wound that oozed blood ever so slowly, collecting in his fur. He showed no sign of pain, though his face had taken on a look of quiet anger. I took the advantage, slashing gracefully, leaving another wound across his forearm. He dove to the side, barely avoiding another sweep of my cutlass. Grabbing his blade off the ground and raising it, he grinned, bringing it down in a savage arc. As I brought mine up to block, my blade was shattered, sending metal shards flying everywhere, and his sword cut deep into my arm. "The one time I try and look cool" he muttered, then he hit me over the head with the hilt of his sword, and everything went dark.

~ The whole world will know of the BlackJack pirates, and that's exactly what I want, to be recognized. "Captain, the admiral is safe in lockup, and his wound has been tended to" announced Leroy, giving a half-assed salute. "No need to be so formal Leroy, we're all friends here" I laughed, slapping him chummily him on the arm. "Men!" I called out, drawing everyone's attention. "We've captured an admiral of the navy, and we can be sure that they'll be after us to get him back. But for now we are victorious, so bust open the kegs and let's drink till we drop!" And everyone cheered, pouring drinks almost as fast as they drank them. "Captain, do you think capturing an admiral was such a good idea? We don't have very much experience, and we've never taken on foes like the navy, they'll send an entire fleet, we can't possibly-" "don't worry about it Leroy. We're the BlackJack pirates, we can handle whatever they throw at us" I grinned, our doctor working on my wounds, dabbing with medicines and things that I don't really care enough to understand. "You really need to be more careful captain, you're going to get yourself killed one of these days" he muttered, wrapping a bandage around my torso. "are you kidding Doc, name one time I've ever done anything remotely safe" I laughed, leaving our doctor to just shaking his head. Feeling rather bored, I decided to go about the ship and see what the crew was up to. "Johnson, catch anything good today?" I asked our cook, fishing for ingredients. "I caught this tiny squid" he motioned to a trap with a tiny squid in it. "You know what that means" we grinned "RELEASE THE KRACKEN!!!" We shouted in unison, dumping the squid overboard and drawing groans from literally every other crew member. "Janet, what's today's count?" I asked our resident powerhouse. "Twenty six. Twenty six ogles and twenty six head wounds" she said and slammed one guys head into a barrel "twenty seven" she grinned. Something you learn very fast on the ship is if you're going to check someone out, make sure it's not Janet. That, and watch out for her right hook, it packs a wallop.

"Eyyy captain, the prisoner ish askin fur you" slurred that Phil guy, heavily drunk from the ongoing party. I figured he would ask for me eventually, though I thought it would take him longer. Then again, we've been partying for a few hours now. It's moments like this that rather annoy me. I'm not much of a partier, and I don't drink, so that eliminates one of the main forms of entertainment around here. Though I do enjoy piña coladas, but it's near impossible to find them without alcohol. Now that I think about it, I could definitely go for one right about now. "Reyez, whip me up my usual. Actually, make it two" I called to our bartender. He's actually the cooks assistant, but he makes one hell of a piña colada. With drinks in hand, I set off for the holding area, which is actually just a bedroom with locks on the door... We aren't used to prisoners... Actually we're just poor... And lazy... And usually drunk... We're terrible pirates >_> "admiral, I hear you were asking for me" I said, shutting the door behind me. "Yes I was. I was wondering, why capture me? And for that matter, why are you a pirate to begin with? Someone like you could do wonders for the navy" he inquired, skimming through a manuscript he probably found laying around. "I captured you for the notoriety, simple as that. I want to be famous, or infamous in this case I suppose" I grinned, sipping my drink. "Want one?" "Actually yes" we sat back in our chairs, sipping piña coladas, good times. "And as for why I became a pirate, well that's a bit more complicated. A few months ago, when I first started out, the reason was simpler. It was to impress a beautiful woman" I laughed "looking back, I'm not sure why I ever thought being a pirate would impress her. But I digress, it's been fun. I get to do what I want, when I want, and no one can stop me. I can go wherever I want, and I get to have fun. The work is easy, I can just take all the money I need. But above all, it's because I'm free. Nobody can tell me what to do, and I love it, you know. With the navy everything you do is monitored, there are rules about when you're allowed to breathe, but on a pirate ship, there are no rules" " you make pirating sound like its a blast" he chuckled, though I wasn't sure if he was serious or not. "I joined the navy for much the same reason you did, for a woman. She was beautiful, though most people wouldn't agree. Well, not humans anyways. She was one of your kind" he remained expressionless, save for the slightest of smiles on the corner of his lips. "Woot! Go admiral" I laughed, drawing an involuntary chuckle from him. "So come on admiral lets hear it, who was she" I asked, feeling strangely light headed, as if my drink had been spiked. Damn you Reyez, you crafty barkeep. "Well" he began, sipping his drink, which I suspect was also spiked "her name was Tazzamen"

~ I hate it. So many responsibilities, so many things that are expected of me, I can't stand it. Twenty one years old, and not once have I been allowed to make my own decisions. Being the only daughter of a noble family is horrible. I'm waited on hand and foot, almost never a second of privacy, I can't go of anything remotely interesting, and now an arranged marriage. I'm expected to marry some man named James Callihan, a wealthy banker of some sort, he's a Great Dane, and a snob. "Tazzamen, James is here" called my mother from the other room. "I'll just be a moment mother" I can't take it anymore. Im going to get out of here, to go do something amazing, or at least get away from James. Opening the window, I tossed my clothes-rope out and started rappelling down. Freedom is sweet, the sights, the smells, the guard waiting for me on the ground... Wait a second... "And where are you going Miss. Tazzamen?" He asked, shaking his head and chuckling. "Um. Out?" I said nervously. "Avoiding James again. Go ahead Miss." He laughed, waving me by. "Thank you Evans" I pecked him on the cheek, running off as quickly as possible. Evans is without a doubt my favorite person, and the only one who let's me get away with this sort of thing. I think he has a bit of a crush on me, which would explain why he lets me do whatever. Sneaking off the property isn't an easy thing to do, I'm actually somewhat amazed I haven't been caught yet. The whole place is surrounded by a huge wall that makes escape all but impossible, except for a place where the wall has a hole in it. It's covered by some shrubs, which is convenient, a bit too convenient. Almost like I had a lazy writer. "Tazzamen, stop breaking the fourth wall" called Evans, spoiling all the fun. I brushed aside the brush, and the hole had been filled in, removing my only way of escaping unnoticed. Now what what I going to do, I panicked, running back over to Evans. "Evans, the hole has been filled in. Now how am I going to get out of here" I asked, still panicking. "Well, you could try and climb the wall somehow. "He shrugged, not being helpful. You can't climb a fifteen foot wall, no matter how hard you try. Unless... Genius! Pure unadulterated genius. Once over the wall I started sprinting away from the property, heading towards the town, which is farther than I would like. "Miss. Tazzamen, why am I following you around again?" Evans asked, running along behind me, looking very out of breath out of breath. "Because it gives me more time to mess with you" I laughed, and he just sighed. "And we need to have a discussion" I mentioned, stopping suddenly. "About what?" He asked with a hint of nervousness. "About how you stare at me when you think I'm not looking" I said casually. "W-what?" He squeaked, blushing a deep crimson. "I-I don't know what you mean, I-" "I'm flattered, really. And uh Evans" I said, whispering into his ear "the feelings mutual" I whispered, running off suddenly.

~ "So this bar openly serves pirates?" I asked BlackJack, taking a swig of my drink, at this point automatically drowning out the noise from the drunk crew. Two of them in a serious drink off, downing their eighteenth flagons, an impressive record, even among the blackjacks. "Yeah, that why we come here. That and it's in the same town as Tazza" he smiled, his eyes twinkling. "Yeah. Honestly it's a bit awkward knowing we both have a thing for her" I said, my face growing hot. "I'll admit, that at was a surprise at first, but I think it's rather exciting. The competition I mean" he laughed, conveying a bit of that insane joy I remember from our battle. Seems he loves competition, from fighting to romance, and I respect that. "So Blackjack-" "please, call me Pat" he chuckled. "Well. I have to ask. Why is it that you've treated me so well. I mean, not to stereotype, but are pirates supposed to be ruthless drunkards?" I asked, perplexed. Her I sat, drinking with the crew, enjoying a lively conversation with the captain, who was all smiles and laughs. It just seemed odd. "Well that's not how we operate. I detest the way other pirates operate. They rule by fear and violence. No, my men do what we do because we want to, and mostly do whatever we want. I don't tolerate mutiny of course, but that one of the few rules. As for prisoners, well, they get treated like any other member of the crew" he leaned back in his chair, cleaning under his claws with a dagger, which he casually slipped back into his boot. "To be one hundred percent honest admiral. You're free to walk out that door at any time" he pointed to the door. He seemed to smile when I didn't move, not a triumphant smile, but one of joy, if you believe it. "Why admiral, I'm surprised at you. I'd think one such as yourself would run off back to your men as fast as possible" he laughed, sipping at his patchwork drink, giving a slight grimace at its taste. I see now why he doesn't drink alcohol, he can't stand it. "I don't know why, but I sort of like you pirates" I said, unsure of why I thought it. "You know admiral. You almost sound like you'd like to join us" he laughed, a sincere laugh, like he cherished the idea. Suddenly the door opened, and the person who stepped in made both me and the captain drop our jaws. A Tasmanian tiger, but it couldn't be. "Are you sure about this place Miss. Tazzamen" the man with her whispered, a bit too loudly. The entire bar went silent for a moment, the crew unsure of what to do. "Tazza?" The captain almost squeaked, in either disbelief or anxiety. "What!?" She exclaimed, stunned. "You know me?" She asked, slightly fearfully. "I worked security for your parents. My name is Pat, Pat BlackJack" the captain seemed very meek speaking to her. This time her jaw hit the floor, in a stunned silence. The man with her steeped in front of her protectively, arms outspread. "You!" He said loudly "you're the pirate go kidnapped an admiral" he seemed very stressed, understandably so. She pushed him out of the way, rushing forward and wrapping the captain in a hug, which surprised the hell out of me. "Pat, it's been so long since I've seen you" she smiled, then stepped back just as suddenly as she went forward. "Pirate captain!? You of all people?" She didn't seem afraid, so much as sad. "And I'm the admiral" I smiled, waving stupidly. "You're a prisoner, what are you doing chatting in a bar?" Demanded the unknown man, pointing a gun at BlackJack. "To be completely honest. I'm not really a prisoner here. I'm free to go at any time" I chuckled, and he was the fourth person to need to pick his jaw up off the floor.

~ I don't understand what's going on here, but i intend to find out. The admiral says he isn't a prisoner, and Miss. Tazzamen seems to know the pirate captain. "Ok, I'm holding the gun here, and I'm going to get some answers. First off, who are you?" I asked the wolf in the captains jacket, black as midnight, with dark red accents. It hung from his shoulders, showing slack of respect for his own position. "I'm Pat 'BB' BlackJack, captain of the blackjack pirates" he said matter of factly, showing no fear whatsoever of the gun I was pointing at him. "Evans, put the gun down. Now!" Miss. Tazzamen demanded harshly, looking at me somewhat angrily. I faltered for a moment, and in that instant, a knife came flying through the air, knocking the gun cleanly out of my hand, sending it skidding several yards away. "Ya dot poyn a gun ah the captain" slurred an overly drunk man, who despite being barely able to stand, had the accuracy to cleanly disarm me. Who are these pirates? "That was unnecessary Philips. He wouldn't have shot me, not him. I know how to read a man, and he isn't the sort, at least not while Tazza wasn't in danger" the captain grinned, and I had a nagging feeling he was right. "You don't call her Tazza, her name is Tazzamen" I said, somewhat angrily. "Evans, be quiet" Miss. Tazzamen muttered. She pulled up a chair and sat down I between the captain and the admiral, downing one of their drinks. "What happened to you Pat? You were one of my favorite guards, and then you just disappeared, and now you come back and you're a pirate captain. Why?" She asked him, as I sat down across from her, eying him suspiciously. "Oh you know" his voice cracked "see the sights, sail the world, that sort of thing" he said nervously. I wasn't buying it. "I don't believe you, why did you really leave?" She seemed almost hurt. "He did it to impress you" the admiral spoke up, sipping his drink. We both reeled back for a second there. The captain gave the admiral a dirty look for a second, to which he shrugged nonchalantly. "Pat... I don't know what to say" Miss. Tazzamen said, but how she meant it was unclear. "I'm not sure if I should be insulted that you thought being a pirate would impress me, or is I should be flattered, because you did all that to get my attention" she seemed to ponder that for a moment. "Well this is probably the most awkward conversation I've ever witnessed" chuckled the admiral. "Be quiet admiral" muttered Miss. Tazzamen, before standing abruptly. "I need to get out of here" she said, walking outside without another word.

~ "I hate you sometimes admiral" the captain said, chugging his entire drink, without the grimace. "What did I do?" I downed my drink as well. "You told her why I became I pirate? Are you out of your damn mind!?" He sort of whisper shouted. "you were freaking out man, far as I'm concerned, I saved you" I told him. The waitress set two more drinks down on our table, running away to the back room as fast as possible. The entire staff were acting terrified, understandably so after the gun incident. "Ok men, we're leaving. Pack your things, finish whatever you're drinking, we're going back to the ship and we're setting sail" he shouted to the men. "Well aren't you in a happy mood" I chuckled. "Admiral, just shut up" he muttered, and walked outside.

~ Pat became a pirate captain, I'm not sure if that's impressive or terrible. What I am certain of, is that he isn't the same person I remember from all those months ago. I don't know who he's turned into, but I'm going to find out. "Miss. Tazzamen, I really don't think this is a good idea" Evans said, sitting on barrel. "We're stowing away on a pirate ship captained by an old house guard that disappeared a year ago, I'm sure we'll be fine" I told him, very sarcastically. "Why are we stowing away on this ship at all?" He asked, now snooping around the storage room. Before I could answer, it heard footsteps above us, and the voices of Pat and the admiral, though they were muffled. "We both have a

for ---, so we need to decide --- what we ---- to do. It's obvious we can't ---- have ---, so how's it going to work?" Asked one of them, though it could have been either. "I don't know, but I think --- has a

for that butler" the other said. Butler? What does that mean? "What ---- you that idea?" Asked the first again. "Did you --- the way -- looked at her?" The second answered.

~ "We both have a thing for her, so we need to decide now what we have to do. It's obvious we can't both have her, so how's it going to work?" I asked the captain. "I don't know, but I think she has a thing for that butler" he said, sipping a piña colada. "What gave you that idea?" I asked, with no idea how he figured that out. "Did you see the way he looked at her?" He said. I do recall something like that. He was constantly darting looks at her breasts, which I had a nagging suspicion that she was aware of, and I said as much. "Yeah, I got that impression too, which certainly complicates things." He muttered, sipping his drink.

~ "Captain, we've got stowaways" said that Phil guy, shoving Tazza and her butler forward, their wrists bound in rope. "Cut them free, these are friends" I told him, and he cut the ropes as quickly as he could. "I'm sorry about that Tazza, the men don't know you" I chuckled. "So why are you here?" I asked her, not intent on mincing words. "I want to travel" was her answer, simple and to the point, though perhaps of questionable honesty. "Then welcome aboard" I laughed. "Men, prepare two more rooms, we have guests" "uh, one room will be fine" Tazza said, blushing through her fur. "Uh, right. Men, make that one room" I called, with much less enthusiasm than before. Tazza and her butler went off to their room, leaving me with a great amount of thinking to do. "Well that certainly complicates things" muttered the admiral, picking up on the situation very quickly. "Those two are definitely together. Personally, I'd warrant they're having fun in the sheets"
