Chapter II: Prologue to Chapter III
#2 of The Outsiders
In the world of the Outsiders things can get crazy pretty quickly, God-Sharks, Mob Attacks, Employee evaluation all to day in this chapter.
"Eric, what the hell was that!", Ro yelled at the wolf, who sat in his revolving chair, doing a quick spin and facing Ro and Koji. The nerdy wolf sat in his chair, wearing a pair of cargo shorts and a tee-shirt, each day a different pattern, today's pattern, black and the words, "Because.. Shut Up", plastered in golden letters. Eric was a hybrid of a Golden Jackel and a Grey Wolf, his body was of the wolf but the color was the golden brown of the jackel.
"Well, its good to see you too, anyway... Yeah it seems that some one used the dragon strain to turn people into the literal extinct dragons, his or her name is Bright, and they apparently stole the dragon strain from the Gene Stealers and formed the Gene Raiders.", Eric said and did a spin on the chair.
"Can, we cure them?", Koji asked, in monotone, emotionless voice, while he gave off no body language, unless one interprets it as, "I will kill you if you step out of my moral code, that I put on every person.", he just walked over to the computer.
"Ah, yes the samples of DNA from the dragon cum.", Eric started to type on the keyboard and a double helix strand of DNA appeared on the screen. "This is from today's attacks, and this is from a previous attack of the Gene Stealers that used the dragon strain.", He typed again and another strain of genetic data appeared on screen.
A scan ran over all of the molecules that made up the DNA strains. A green box appeared and 100% match appeared to the sheer shock of Koji and Ro, "What kind of idiot uses the same strain, I mean there is a cure for the dragon strain, but at least mix up the genes.", Ro shouted out.
"That is why I ordered a shipment of the cure, delivered by truck. Oh, before you ask Ro, it getting delived by truck, because the cure is so unstable we are afraid that if it we send it trough a portal, that the slightest amount of radiation could reactivate the strain, the strain could reproduce with its self and break out and cause another outbreak.", Eric said, spinning again on his chair.
"And if the truck is attacked?", Koji asked the wolf and caused him to stop his chair. Eric typed and a map of Las Vegas, and the surrounding desert appeared on the screen.
"Simple we will be there, bring up the trucks route, Eric.", Out of the coner walked out Jackson, the small, yet powerful Orca that took the leading role in the team. He wore the standard black vest, but also a black vest, but had a retractable cape that flowed off the vest, showing he was the leader. He then wore black cargo shorts.
"The truck is coming from San Francisco, taking Interstate 80 to State Route 15, 50 miles out we will get on the truck and stay on it until it reaches where we are holding the Dragons, Las Vegas Maximum Security prison, which has had enough rooms to allow us to hold them.", Jackson said.
"As for you two, in order to make sure their is no dragon cum or unaccounted dragons, school has been canceled, I suggest sleeping in, and on Wendsday, their is already a three hour delay to account for the Christmas parade, then we have the next four weeks off for Christmas.", Eric said as he led Koji and Ro out of the office.
"I'll be at the facility at 2:00, come for some training, see you tomorrow, Koji .", Ro said to Koji as he got off Ro's scooter.
"Bye.", Koji then walked over to his house, and put the keys into the lock. He pulled the door open and walked in to his large townhouse. He walked into the living room completely ignoring the T.V that was still turned on playing late night talk shows.
He walked up the stairs with a groan, and opened his bedroom door. He walked over to his large bed, plenty of area to move around. He walked over and feel on to his bed he readjusted himself on to the bed and flipped over.
Still in his shoes and sweaty clothes, Koji closed his eyes and reflected on the dragons. He didn't think for long, soon his mind started to float and he was asleep and snoring.
In Koji's house all was quite except Koji's snoring and the T.V, which was now playing a marathon of a century old show. "The Dingo ate your baby.", was heard from the T.V, a purple fog rose from the floor and rose into the second floor.
It surrounded Koji like a soft purple cloud, his room disappeared and only the thick purple fog and Koji could be seen. Koji snoring stopped as he breathed in the fog and he started to struggle, as if he was having a nightmare.
A massive purple shadow stood over Koji, around him purple rock laid as ground and purple streams of energy blasted up from a layer of purple clouds that surround the rock formation Koji was on. The figure above him was an elderly shark, from the long fins on his body and visible wrinks in his skin.
"Hello, young Shark, you can call me Twilight, I am the master over raw energy, water and I'm am guardian over all sharks. If you haven't known I am a god, but of a group you have never heard before, The Kagen Gods.", The shadow said with a grunt of displeasure.
"Kagen Gods, what do you want with me?", Koji asked, looking around, studying the area and the strange shadow that watched over him.
"Well, you are very powerful and your powers interest us, as you may have heard I am the guardian over Shark like species, so I get to first meet you, and while I will not hurt you, other Kagen gods may, so beware of mysterious electro-magnetic fog, and mirrors, our world, Kagentora is a mirror world of your and with help from mirrors we can temporary enter your world, and if you do need to find me again, read the black book on your desk, it will transport you to my territory in this realm.", The shadow then disappeared and purple fog surrounded him, he woke up in his bed sweating and shaking.
Koji looked over to his desk, a black book laid on the desk waiting to be read. Koji looked away and slept once again. Once Koji had closed his eyes and reentered the realm of sleep, the book started to shake, and a purple fog erupted out.
The fog hit the ground and energy swirled around it. Space bent around it and time slowed. The fog condenced into a elderly shark-like figure, cloaked in shadow. The shadow cloaked figure walked over to Koji and put it's hands on the shark's head.
"Thank you Koji, now I can return to the earth and I shall finally defeat brother, rest to you Koji, and some of my power is yours, you will need it young shark as wendsday and the days after will be the worst this world has come to see.", The shark said silently as purple energy flowed from his body and into to Koji's.
"Now young shark I must become young again, while this will limit my powers forever it is only for the world's salvation, my time has finally run out my new form will be weak, but he will be smart and will defeat brother.", Purple energy flowed around Twilght's body again and he became shorter and his fins sunk back into his less wrinkled skin. His reincarnated form appeared with a puff of dust.
"From this day on I will be known as John Daniel Salko, J.D to my friends and will attend J. Edgar Hoover High School in Las Vegas, and will be Koji's roomate, paired together by the Orion program.", His figure became less shadow-cloaked. He wore a green plaid shirt, white undershirt underneigh and shorts.
"Sleep well, young shark tomorrow will be a game changer indeed.", He said as he walked out of Koji's room and into the empty room on the other side of the hallway, it was covered in purple energy and a room with a bed in the left corner, booksheaves lining the rooms filled with endless knowledge and finally a T.V, copied from the one in the living room.
"Where I was once Twilight, I am know J.D, I am weak and must learn again.", Suddenly the T.V flashed on with a middle aged human asking, "Are you still the master of your domain?", to a group of humans.
"Very interesting, I will have to learn earth culture so T.V might be a way to start.", Then Twilight, now the limited power Kagen, who is now know to be J.D by anyone who would have met him if he and Koji hung out, sat down on his bed and did what no Kagen God ever did before, watched TV.
Koji woke up to something different the next day, not his alarm clock, not his shark senses, not an impending doom, but for the first time Koji woke up to peace driven by a magical occurrence. A smell entered the sensitive nose of Koji, traveling up the smelling organ into sensors, up nerves and into the brain.
Koji woke up to the smell of bacon frying, he got up in a flash and sniffed again, just to be sure. This time in addition to the bacon he smelt, eggs, sausage, home-fries, pancakes, strawberries, and toast coated with creamy butter,
Koji rushed out of bed and quickly put on a black tee-shirt and pajama pants over his boxers, his tail slipping though the slit in the back. He quickly shuffled downstairs and found someone in his kitchen, a shark with dark blue skin. He quickly recognized the aura coming off the Kagen God.
"So Twilight, why are you at my house, and do you look younger?", Koji asked letting more than ten words slip. "And don't tell Ro I used way more then ten freaking words!", Koji said as he covered his mouth, Ro knew Koji couldn't help not using less than ten words, but when he used more it was never let down.
"I was once Twilight, now I am J.D his reincarnated form, contacting you took the last of my powers but what was done was needed.", He said as served the eggs on to a massive plate along with the other breakfast treats, "My story is the Orion program put us together and I'm your roommate."
"Fair enough, I'm too hungry to care.", Koji quickly shuffled and sat at the table, he promptly dug in with J.D and bits and pieces of food were thrown over the dining room, as both sharks gobbled down their food.
Once all the food was fully gobbled down and digested Koji looked up and realized who he was facing, Kagen God Twilight. He got up and quickly walked over to the shark. "Listen, now that's breakfast is over, I need to show you to Eric. It's not that I don't trust you, but crazier things have happened, and how the hell am I able to use more than 10 words around you, I mean It's crazy!", Koji said as the other Shark got up.
"First Question, fiar enough. Second Question, I'm the guardian of sharks it would be only natural that you'd be able to be social with me.", He said as he walked out of the kitchen silding his plate pasted a visibly shocked Koji, "Wow you can even show emotion around me, doesn't sound like your into me at all.", The shark said shocking Koji even more as he walked in the garage.
"I don't like you.", Koji said trying to return to his closed state. He walked in the garage and got in his own scooter. He patted the back seat and signaled J.D to get on the scooter. J.D got on the scooter and as Koji reved the bike and speed out the garage, he could swore he felt someone's arms around his shoulders.
"And in your rush you forgot to put on clothes, your in your pajamas still. He quickly slammed on the breaks, the tire slid around as Koji did a 180 drift and drove back towards his house, leaving only tire marks as evidence he was there.
30 Minutes Later
"Yeah, Kagen God, do I look like I believe in some crazy shit like that, seriously, and their not immortal they regenerate into new forms, if that's real then I'm a wolf.", Jackson said as he sat at a desk listing to J.D/Twilight's story.
"Well, that's our story. We haven't been worshipped in a long time, before furs we were guardians over animals, and the only humans we contacted were the president's of PETA. After Emergence Day, when the furs crossed over we took over as guardians to animals and furs.", J.D said with whimsical hand motions.
"So what are you vegetarians? How does you system work, how do you stand over furs and animals?", Jackson said as he studied J.D's reactions, waiting for the subtlest hint of him lying.
"Well, we don't eat animals of our own species, for reasons of the obvious, but we are free to eat any animal we like. As for your other question, we give them a temporary share of our power to allow them to defend or save themselves.", J.D said quickly, reading it like it was the back of his plam.
"Ok, you said you haven't been worshipped in a long time, who worshipped you, maybe then I can believe your story, I want to believe, but I have had stories you wouldn't believe made sence but turned out to be bullshit, I don't want to offend you, I just want to be sure for the safety of my team."
"Yes, the Team comes first, but of I remember right after I regenerated my first time during the war of us versus the Gods of the Bigfoot, so that the human's could pass over the bering strip and help with the extinction of Saber-Tooth Tiger, which was killing all our animals, I believe a group of humans on a remote Pacific island witnessed our powers and built a shrine.", J.D said to Jackson.
"Ok, I'll check you out and see if your lieing, don't lie.", Jackson said as he turned to his computer, and signaled for J.D to walk out of his office.
Suddenly an red light flashed on and off, an alarm wailing in the background. Jackson looked at the screen with confusion and then an alarming look. "Well kiddies it seems that we have two attacks at the same time, one on one side of town, one on the other side, so seems we have to split up, J.D I'm going to take a leap of faith and trust you, so you go with Sharky here to the east side mob attack, and me and Eric will go to the other mob attack, dam we have to make those mobs disband.", Jackson said going towards his garage and heading for his car soon followed by J.D, Eric, and Koji who all had confused looks on their faces.
