Walking into her daughter's room, Juliet could see that her daughter was neatly tucked under her purple comforter, holding her favorite baby doll named Susie.

"Susie wants to hear the bedtime story too!" Katrina cheered, holding up the little doll with the button eyes.

"Oh, I'm not sure if Susie will like the story. Are you sure?" Juliet asked with a smile on her face.

Slowly, Juliet sat down onto her daughter's bed and crossed her legs in a position that Katrina called "Indian style." It was a sitting style that the children were taught in kindergarten and pre-K while listening to stories or learning. Mimicking her mother, Katrina sat in the same position, placing Susie in her lap.

"We both want to hear." Katrina said in a soft voice, leaning forward towards her mother in order to listen to the story.

"Where did we leave off?" Juliet asked, putting her hands on her knees and leaning closer to her daughter.

They both smiled happily to each other, but before Katrina could answer, a deep voice came from the doorway, making Juliet's heart flutter inside of her chest. Turning her head, Juliet could see her husband James.

"She was just getting to the palace when you stopped." James said, murring as he made his way over to his wife.

"That's right. I didn't know you were listening." Juliet replied, and James laid down onto the bed next to his daughter, creating a contrast of white and black fur between father and daughter.

Frankly, Juliet had always wondered how Katrina never acquired any of her father's black fur color, but being Jackals, there were really only two colors to choose from--White or Black. There was no in-between.

"How could I not? Your soothing voice travels. Now, I'm ready for a story. How about you sweetheart?" James asked his cute little girl.

When Katrina nodded, Juliet sat up straight and cleared her throat to begin. "After Akeela was bought, she was taken to a beautiful palace to meet her new owner, but she was in for a big surprise..."

__

"Wake up." Came a soft voice, seeming to echo through Akeela's head as her eyes began to open.

Feeling her head spin, Akeela wasn't sure that she could truly force her eyes to open, but as she began to stir, there was a rush of cool water poured over her body, making her sit up quickly. She gasped with her eyes wide, and as she looked up, she could see the male servant that had purchased her from the cruel merchant.

"What did you do that for?" Akeela yelled angrily, getting off the cot she had been laying on.

Honestly, she had forgotten all about her back, and as she jumped up, she screamed in pain, feeling her welts protest in agony from her fast movements. Dropping to her knees, she felt her paws begin to shake, and as she closed her eyes tightly, the servant leaned down, helping her back up.

"I'm sorry. I needed you awake. I didn't know you would hurt yourself. We have to get you cleaned up and healed before you meet the Queen. Now, lay down."

Looking up at the male, she could see he was a short, black Jackal. He seemed harmless enough, and as he moved closer, she realized he was only wearing a small loincloth of white silk to cover his groin. Looking away, Akeela moved back to the table, laying down on her stomach as the male had asked her to.

"Why would I meet the Queen?" Akeela asked, feeling the male begin to cut the rags off of her body.

For as long as Akeela could remember, she had been in the same rags, constantly having to wash them in the Nile only to put them back on. The servant wasted no time with them, and he threw them onto the floor. Akeela could see the bloody heap of fabric, and as she stared at it, she could see the slits in the cloth where the whip had lashed at her. The back was ruined, and even though she was naked under the Jackal's eyes, she didn't care. She was just happy to be out of those clothes.

"What did you do to deserve these?" The male asked as he began to rub some sort of thick cream over Akeela's welts and cuts.

With a painful groan, Akeela could feel the cream begin to burn a bit as it seeped into her skin. Feeling a bit of the cream fall off of her shoulder, she looked down, seeing it was a light shade of green. It was obviously made from some sort of herb, and she knew the Jackal was only trying to help.

"I tried to escape." She whispered, feeling the hot tears begin to swell up in her eyes from the burning on her back.

After her response, there was nothing but silence. The young male worked diligently to rub the herbal cream over her back, and Akeela simply laid still on the cot, feeling the tears slowly trickle down her cheeks and over her muzzle. She had no idea what was going to happen to her, and more importantly, she had no idea why the Queen would seek council with a lowly slave. All of Akeela's thoughts were making her head spin, and in order to push away the dizziness, she began to focus on the room itself. The walls were made of large, rectangular blocks, seeming to be below the palace since there were no windows, and every shelf in the room was covered with herbs. It must have been the infirmary.

"I'm done. In a few hours your back should be as good as new." The male said, wiping his paws onto a small rag.

"How is that possible?" Akeela asked.

Her back was covered in welts, and they were practically fresh. There was no way that her back could heal in such a short amount of time, but as Akeela questioned the male Jackal, he only smiled and continued to wipe his paws as if she had asked a silly question.

"We have great medicine here at the palace. The particular medicine I rubbed on you is a sort of mineral mud. It's collected from the banks of the Nile when the water is low. It speeds up the healing process tremendously, and since your wounds are new, it will work even better. It doesn't do very well on scars."

"Lucky me." Akeela whispered, laying her head back down onto the soft cushion of the cot. "What does the Queen want with me anyway?"

Smiling, the Jackal only washed his hands in a fresh bowl of water. There was no answer, but the smile that the male had on his face made Akeela curious and a bit terrified. Was it a mischievous smile or one out of happiness? Men could pull both off easily, but Akeela hoped it was more of the second.

After several hours of laying still, Akeela was becoming restless. Of course, she had fallen asleep a few times only to wake up from nightmares, but as she began to get up, the male Jackal in the corner stirred from his nap.

"Let's get that stuff off of you." He said in a sleepy voice, pulling himself out of the small chair to walk over to Akeela.

Before Akeela could really protest, the male was pouring cool water over her back, making her skin tighten and tingle. Goosebumps began to appear as her fur stood on end, but Akeela didn't mind. The water was actually soothing. The male servant began to use a clean rag to wipe Akeela's back, and as he pushed the fabric against her skin, she winced, expecting to feel sharp pains, but she felt nothing. There was not pain, and there was no protest from her skin.

"It doesn't hurt." She whispered, sounding practically amazed.

"You're not completely healed, but the welts have gone down a lot. You should be completely healed in a couple days."

"Thank you." Akeela said quietly, closing her eyes.

To Akeela, it was funny how her life had seemed to change in a matter of only two days. First, she was being whipped on the street, and now, she was in the palace, going to meet the Queen. She had no idea what the Queen could want from her, but she knew that if she didn't like it, she could always plan an escape.

"Put this on." The male said, handing Akeela what looked like a beautiful, white dress.

Slipping the fabric over her body, Akeela could see that she was in fact wearing her first dress. Of course, she had seen many other females walk down the streets of the market wearing similar dresses, but she had never gotten to wear one herself. She was always reduced to rags. The dress matched her shade of fur, and as she looked it over, she could see that the dress had gold trimmings around the edges, making distinct lines between the fabric and her white fur. The dress did not hug to her curves, but Akeela was okay with that. She didn't feel like she was constantly on display.

Leading her out by her elbow, the male held gently to Akeela's arm, trying to make sure that there was no attempt to escape. Akeela had thought about it, but since she just came from the streets, she wasn't ready to go back. She at least wanted to know what her purpose was in a beautiful palace.

Walking into the throne room, Akeela was astonished by how beautiful the room was. The walls were covered in gorgeous hieroglyphics of long strands of wheat in the fields and flowers that gently drifted down the Nile. Everything seemed to be accented with gold, but as Akeela looked at the large throne, she could see a leopard skin throw rug running up the stairs to the Queen's throne.

Taking a step back, Akeela was surprised that she had not noticed the Queen sitting in her throne before. The Queen was a beautiful black Jackal of course, and even though she was older, her body was still magnificent, complete with soft curves and soft fur, and her eyes were a dark brown, seeming to be black to match her fur. It was a little unnerving for Akeela to stand still. The Queen just simply stared, and Akeela could only look back into her dark eyes, hoping for the Queen to speak soon.

"Your name?" The Queen asked.

Perking up her ears, Akeela listened to the soft voice of the female in front of her. It was soft and gentle just as the Queen appeared to be, but Akeela knew that if she did not answer the sweet tone would soon vanish.

"My name is Akeela your highness."

"You have such a lovely name my dear," The Queen said, lifting her goblet of wine to her mouth to slowly sip. "I heard you were damaged."

Before Akeela could answer, the male servant stepped up, bowing to his queen before looking up into her eyes. "My Queen I healed her with our medicine. It is not complete, but her welts are gone."

"Thank you my dear Koji. You may leave."

With those words, Koji nodded and stood to his feet, walking out of sight and out of the large entrance doors. The doors closed with a loud thud as the servant left, and once the Queen was alone with Akeela, she stood from her throne, walking towards the female.

"I know you are wondering why you are here. We do not often buy slaves. I prefer to take on willing workers. It makes the palace seem like a more cheerful place than keeping others here by force."

"If I may say, that is very kind of you your highness."

Nodding, the Queen walked to Akeela and began to look her over. Slowly, the Queen lifted her paw and took a long strand of Akeela's beautiful, crimson colored hair into her paw. It was a very unusual color, and the Queen smiled as if realizing something.

"You have very unusual hair color. A trait from your mother?" The Queen asked, gently placing Akeela's hair back down onto her shoulder.

"No, my mother was a white Jackal. She had white hair to match her fur. I assume it is from my father, whom I have never met." Akeela said, looking down to the ground.

"Nevertheless, you are perfect. Akeela, I have a very big problem. It is a problem that does not simply affect me. It affects my entire kingdom, and you can help."

The Queen had walked over to her balcony, signaling Akeela by the gentle stroke of her index finger to come forward. Once Akeela walked with the Queen onto the balcony, the black jackal continued her tale.

"How long have you lived here?" The Queen asked, clasping her hands together in front of her.

"I've been in your kingdom as long as I can remember, but I know I was not born here. My mother told me so."

The Queen smiled, looking back over her kingdom. The sun was setting in the distance, and as the sun neared the horizon, beautiful shades of pink, orange, red, and yellow began to dance together in the sky. They all intertwined with each other to create unthinkable hues of color, and as Akeela stared, she was startled a bit by the sound of the Queen's voice breaking the silence.

"My husband died several years ago in battle. He was defending this land, and as a result his life was taken. Of course, I took the throne, but the council that advises me does not like a female in power. Even though my husband was taken too soon, he left me with a handsome son. My son is strong, intelligent, and kind, but that did not save him from the fate of a royal."

Looking confused, Akeela tilted her head. She was about to speak, but the Queen held up one paw, telling Akeela to wait.

"A year ago, one of the neighboring kingdoms threatened to overthrow our land. I do not approve of battle, and I did not wish to send what small troops we had to die. You see, the neighboring kingdom has a great army, and if we were to battle, we would fall to them. My son, knowing what would happen, rightfully stepped up to form a union between the kingdoms. He married a princess from the kingdom. For the true union to form, the couple must consummate the marriage. In other words, they must have a child, but it seems that Kesi, my son's mate, is unable to conceive."

Walking back towards her throne, the Queen placed her paws behind her back, expecting Akeela to follow closely behind her and listen to every word.

"Where do I come in my Queen?" Akeela asked.

Honestly, Akeela was completely confused with the whole ordeal. Why would the Queen need her? It did not make any sense.

"Kesi has the same unusual hair color as you. Although her hair is a much lighter shade of red instead of your striking crimson, I believe that my plan could work."

"I'm still confused." Akeela whispered, beginning to think the Queen was not completely sane.

"It is known that any child conceived by a black jackal and a white jackal will still be born with completely black fur. We have no idea why. That's just what happens. If Kesi does not conceive, she will be killed by the council of her kingdom and my kingdom will go to war. Koji assured me that you have not been defiled by another, and your hair color could only be a sign from the gods. You will bear my son a child to consummate his union with Kesi and save our kingdom."

Realizing the full extent of what the queen was saying, Akeela took a step back. She had been bought to breed, and as most slaves know, being a breeder is one of the worst fates to suffer through. Although the situation seemed different, Akeela was still terrified. Most breeding slaves were locked away in a small room to be ravaged, impregnated, and birthed. Then, the cycle simply repeated. Some women spoke of their children being killed just after birth, and others cried for their long lost children that had been sold into slavery.

"I can't do that." Akeela whispered, looking back at the door. "I d-don't want to be a breeder."

As Akeela took another step back, tears began to swell up in her eyes. Was that really her only fate? To be taken by a male she didn't love and used for his pleasures to carry his pups?

"You would not be a breeder. We simply need one child. The child would be cared for by everyone in the palace and raised to be a prince or princess. After the birthing, I would grant you your complete freedom along with a home in my kingdom. You would be free to do whatever you wished. I am desperate." The Queen said, looking back at Akeela with pleading eyes.

"You would grant me my freedom?" Akeela asked, picturing herself walking down the streets of the kingdom. She could venture into stores and buy beautiful silk clothes. She could live in a house with a comfortable bed and freshly cooked meals, and her child would be considered royalty, which was more of a future than she could ever hope to give her children just by herself.

"Yes. No questions asked. I am always true to my word, and I am known for my kindness."

"I will do it." Akeela said, wrapping her arms around herself.

Looking down at the ground, Akeela felt like she had sold out. She felt a bit used, but in the end, she could have her freedom, and she wanted that more than anything. If she had to give her virginity to a prince, she would do it. Honestly, she could think of several men that would be much worse than a prince to mate with for her first time.

"Thank you dear Akeela. You will stay in the palace until your next heat cycle. Until then, please enjoy the palace. My home is your home. All I ask is that you do not leave the gates. I cannot have you stolen."

Nodding her head, Akeela knew better than to leave. She would just be captured once more by a slave trader and possibly taken to another kingdom. While she had the luxury of being in a palace, she was going to enjoy it.

"Thank you your highness."

"Koji!" The Queen called, knowing the smaller jackal was just outside the door.

As Koji poked his head in the door, he smiled, prancing to Akeela's side. "Yes my Queen?"

"Please, show Akeela to her room."

As the Queen began to walk back to her throne, Koji gently took Akeela by the elbow, leading her off into the large, columned halls of the palace. It was strange being in such a luxurious place, and as Akeela walked with the servant, she let out a deep sigh. Was she really going to go through with the Queen's plan? Yes. She would do it for her freedom.

"Here is your room," Koji said, slowly opening the door. "You're in the Queen's wing. The other wing belongs to her son Anpu and his mate Kesi."

As Akeela walked into the room, her eyes went wide. She could hear Koji speaking in the background, but her mind was not processing his words. The room was the most magnificent thing she had ever seen. It was large with a beautiful canopy bed in the center. Everything was accented with gold, and as she ventured further into the room, she could see she had her own personal balcony to overlook the city.

Walking to her bed, she rubbed her paw over the silk fabric, and she slowly crawled on top of it, laying down quickly. Biting her bottom lip, she felt as if she was laying on a fluffy cloud. Her whole situation seemed absolutely unreal. Yesterday, she was at the mercy of a simple merchant, being moved from one place to another, but today, she was in a palace, laying on the most comfortable bed she could dream of.

"This is the life." She whispered.

"Enjoy." Koji said, slowly closing the door as he left.

Only a few seconds after the door closed, Akeela's eyes closed as well, and for the first time she could remember, she slipped into a peaceful and blissful sleep without any nighmares.

__

Meanwhile, in the west wing of the palace, Anpu stood on his small balcony, looking over the city as the sun began to set. It was absolutely beautiful how the sun cast different colors over the sky. The colors were getting darker as the sun got closer and closer to the setting horizon, and he sighed, feeling the wind blow against his naked, muscular form. Once again, he had tried to breed his mate. He had taken her many times, including during several of her heat cycles, but she never seemed to conceive. She never actually bore him a child.

"Anpu! You ruined my gown!" Kesi screamed from his room.

To Anpu's dismay, Kesi always found fault in everything. Of course, she was one of the most beautiful females he had ever laid eyes on, but he wasn't sure that Kesi actually had feelings for him. He wanted someone to love, and Kesi just wanted to enjoy being royal. Every day she ventured out into the kingdom to buy more perfumes and gowns and jewels. Anpu had simply learned to ignore it.

"How did I do that darling?" Anpu asked in a monotone voice, sounding completely uninterested in her words.

"Your cum got on my gown!" Kesi growled, throwing the gown to the floor in anger.

Looking closely, Anpu could see the spot she was talking about. It was no bigger than the end of a paint brush used to paint the hieroglyphics on the walls, hardly even noticeable to the untrained eye.

"Sorry love." He said quietly with hints of distain in his voice.

With great difficulty, Anpu remained calm. It was getting harder for him to deal with Kesi's difficult life style, but he knew he must remain with her in order to protect his kingdom. With quiet mumbles, Kesi walked over to her wardrobe, thumbing over the fabrics. Anpu was about to go over to her to give her some form of comfort, but as he took one step forward, there was a knock on the door, and his mother's head servant Koji peered inside.

"Master, your mother wishes to see you in her throne room."

With a simple nod, Anpu put on his loin cloth that covered his entire pelvic region. Buckling the golden belt around the white fabric, he began to walk out of his room, heading to see his mother. He did not say another word to Kesi, and as he walked down the hallways, the silence was like music to his ears.

Making his way into the throne room, he could see his beautiful mother standing in the center of the room, simply waiting for him to arrive. At the sight of him, the Queen opened her arms with a smile, and walked to Anpu, embracing him in a loving hug.

"How are you my son?" She asked softly, looking him over.

"I am well mother. Why have you called me here?" He asked, embracing his mother in the hug as well before they separated.

"I know we spoke earlier about Kesi. Has she conceived?"

"No mother. She has not conceived."

"Ah," the Queen said, "Well, I know we also spoke about the backup plan, and I have found the perfect female for you."

"Kesi will not be pleased." Anpu replied, looking into his mother's brown eyes with his light blue ones.

"She will also stay alive, and I believe that is more important. Our kingdom will prosper as well. The female's name is Akeela. She is beautiful, and she has the same odd color hair as Kesi. It's a bit strange actually. I want you to get to know her. Let her know we mean her no harm, and once she bears you a child, I will grant her freedom in my kingdom."

Nodding slowly, Anpu looked at his mother, knowing she was completely right. "You are very wise mother."

Smiling, the Queen looked up at her son. "As are you darling. You will take Akeela on her next heat cycle."

"Only with her permission mother." Anpu replied, watching his mother nod in response.

"Of course."

Nodding, Anpu kissed his mother's cheek as he began to leave the room. He knew what he would have to do, but he would not do it without Akeela's consent. He was a good man, and he would never take advantage of a female--slave or not. Taking a deep breath, Anpu pulled the door open and began to walk down the corridors. He did not want to go back to his room. Instead, he wanted to wander the halls. The sun had completely disappeared, and as he walked, the only light he could see was from the moon and the light flickering from the torches on the wall. The air was crisp, and as Anpu walked, he closed his eyes, taking a deep breath to fill his lungs. If he concentrated hard enough, he could almost smell the sweet scents of the Nile.

As Anpu walked with his eyes closed, he felt himself collapse into something, but as he opened his eyes, he realized it was someone. He had foolishly walked straight into one of the servants, and as he looked down, his bright blue eyes locked with very unusual purple ones. It was a female, a white jackal in fact, and her eyes resembled bright lavender. For a long moment, he couldn't pull his eyes away from hers. It wasn't until he realized that his body was directly on top of hers that he quickly got up, holding his paw out to help her up.

"I am so sorry," he whispered, pulling her up to her feet. "I wasn't watching where I was going. Are you okay?"

Still staring into her eyes, Anpu was mesmerized. She was stunning, and as the dress she was wearing hinted at the lovely curves underneath, he tried desperately not to get hard, coughing a bit in order to keep his member from becoming erect just from the sight of her.

"It's no problem." She said softly, and Anpu's ears perked up, picking up every beautiful tone of her voice.

As realization seeped into Anpu's mind, he realized that there was only one white jackal that was in the palace that had beautiful, crimson hair.

"A-Akeela." Anpu whispered, reaching up to cup her cheek in his large paw.

She didn't answer. She simply smiled at him, and with a bright smile in return, Anpu felt his heart flutter.

__

"I think that's a good place to stop. My heart is fluttering right now." James said with a smirk, emphasizing the word heart as if there was a hidden meaning, and to Juliet, there was.

"No! I want to hear more! Mommy! Does Anpu love Akeela?" Katrina asked in a desperate, needy voice.

With a smile, Juliet leaned forward, kissing her daughter on the forehead. "You'll just have to wait and see."

"I want to know now!" Katrina whimpered, laying back on the bed.

With a smile, James leaned over, tickling his daughter on her sides and making her giggle happily.

"Goodnight sweetheart." James said, kissing his daughter on the forehead before gently tucking her in.

"Goodnight Daddy! Goodnight Mommy!" Katrina cheered, snuggling up with her baby doll.

Walking out of the room, Juliet slowly turned off Katrina's bedroom light, leaving the only light in the room from her nightlight. Closing the door, Juliet murred, feeling James take her paws in his.

"You're an amazing mother." He said, gently pushing Juliet against the hallway wall, pressing his hips to hers. "Care to make another pup?"

Giggling, Juliet bit her bottom lip before leaning up to kiss her husband deeply and passionately. "You have to wait until I'm in heat just like Akeela will be." She whispered.

"Nope. I can start right now." James said, picking Juliet up and wrapping her legs around his waist.

With one last giggle, Juliet disappeared with James into their bedroom for a night of passion and love.
