Phrin thought hard on what to ask, though every part of that testimony felt important to get more info about. Casey's eyes changed from earlier, to a more focused look than an aloof expression when the case started. It seemed that now his attention was gotten from Direk's question of his identity, but now wasn't the time to focus on that thought Phrin. The testimony was just what she wanted to hear, and she was ready to get more info, "So you wasn't on the list...though I didn't know Mr. Brandz had a daughter. You must be good friends with her to get invited to such a swanky party.", she said as she looked at him, getting a nod with a light blush.

It was cute seeing Casey have feelings for someone as she can guess, not once seeing the guy blush, "Well I guess you could say that, but I'll explain later. You have a job to do. Crush this poor excuse for a man and I'll buy us lunch afterwards.", he promised, Phrin getting another boost of motivation though not really needing anymore from the anger she had from this pompous jackass. Rose banged her gavel once and then relaxed in her chair, "Ok Phrin, do what you do best. Question this witness and then I'll have you interrogate me next after we're done with this...."

"We'll see Rose...but for now let me start my cross examination. I have quite abit to figure out from this one testimony.", said Phrin as she looked at Jaren who seemed reluctant to start as he looked at her nervously, "Oh and I'll ease up on shouting this time ok? Just for you.", she added, making him feel a lot better. Direk yawned rudely as it felt like to him that this was taking forever but he wasn't in the mood to comment on this.

Jaren cleared his throat and started the testimony, "The party was a big bash, as only the most elite and prestigious were invited...", which he then paused for a moment to look at the defense. She shook her head and let him continue, though she will revisit this a bit later. He then continued on, "Casey had been invited due to a request from Poile's daughter, Julia....", which he paused again, seeing Phrin point out her index finger with a not so loud, "Hold up!", one that didn't startle him.

"Ok now this is something important. Julia had that much influence on her father that he'd let someone he'd hate to a big party?", she asked, Jaren giving a nod back at her, "Yes, apparently Poile loved his daughter very much due to his son dying a few years before having her. He's been overprotective and does things to please her, the invite being one of them."

Though this wasn't a waste of time, it was rather important to know more about the daughter who she figured could be a possible witness. She gestured at him to continue, coughing for a second before continuing, "Ahem...alright. About 10:40 pm, Casey was called to see Mr. Brandz in his office, which he was then forced out the window at some time between 10:45 pm and 11:00 pm--!", quickly he stopped as he knew she'd bite on this one quite hard.

She was completely ready with her finger pointing right at him, but it seemed that he was prepared which disappointed her, "Hold up--awww, well guess you already did...ok then. Now this is what bothers me. That time is very accurate...did everyone know about Casey being called? And why the time of the window "pushing" looks vague compared to the call in time.", questioned Phrin, running a finger over her snout and thinking as to why.

"Well...actually he announced it. Everyone knew and everyone we questioned confirmed it at the time. However the information on the window pushing is still to be determined exactly as you know. We're leaning towards that it happened more towards 11:00 pm as the tests showed. If i get a call today, it means the autopsy was done.", responded Jaren, holding up what looked like a P.I.C. yet it was different.

Phrin nodded and let him continue, knowing well what was in his hand. Jaren put it away and looked over to the prosecution, noticing that he hadn't said anything in since he started which worried him, "Right...now then. The witness was then seen running away from the party at about 11:00 pm, seen by the butler who was cleaning the hall leading to Mr. Brandz office....and you're gonna question me on this aren't ya?"

The good lawyer nodded with a smile, though something caught her attention for a moment. From the corner of her eye, Phrin noticed Direk stirring upon him finishing that testimony, "Errm...of course. You know it! Now then, why was the butler in that area anyway? I'd assume that he'd be at the party catering to the guests....not staying outside his master's door and eavesdropping.", she asked while both arms wrapped around each other.

Jaren put his glasses away in a case which he then put into his pocket, giving a sigh, "Indeed, but it was purely by chance. He just happened to be walking by about there as the guests were leaving...or so he says anyway. Though what he said he heard has to be the truth since the witness won't talk. If it really wasn't as incriminating as what the butler heard, he would've said the truth."

This wasn't good as she felt that this was a bit hurt her case. Casey stood up and looked at Jaren while slamming on the desk hard enough to imprint his hands on it but not breaking it, "Damn it! That no good weasel said he heard nothing! Its none of his business what me and the old man were discussing!", he shouted, Rose having to step in and bang her gavel twice, "ORDER! Phrin, please keep your client under control! And that desk is coming outta your pay unfortunately....we'll discuss that afterwards."

Seems this was the part Direk was waiting for, as he slammed a hand against his desk, "And that ladies and old man is what we call...a decivive witness and even more so a decisive moment. What you just saw the defendant do matches what was found in Mr. Brandz room!", he exclaimed as he pulled out a picture from his briefcase and handed it to the Baliff. Rose took it and examined it herself, raising an eyebrow at what she saw, "Phrin...you'd better see this.", she said softly, giving it to the baliff again to hand to Phrin.

The picture showed a desk with the imprint of two hands, hands that would match Casey as she looked at it closely. Even she couldn't deny that this photo had Casey's hand print, which left her in an awkward position, "Ok...so what if my client left a mark. Theres an explanation for everything and I'm betting that this wasn't attributed to the death of the victim."

"Seems you really do have faith in that second rate male....how womany of you. Though you're making me waste time, I have an appointment at 11:30 am for a 5 way so I'm gonna wrap this up. I want to call upon the butler to the stand, so you can take a hike pops. A shriveled man with a shriveled manhood has no place in the world or in a court of law.", scoffed Direk, getting a mean growl from Jaren, "Listen here, you can't just talk about things like this. Have more respect!"

Again Rose had to break it up, not liking having to bang the gavel so much as it messes up her hair, "Ok Ok shut up both of you. Jaren, take five. All of you take five while Direk prepares the next witness...court is adjourned for a 5 minute recess!", she announced, Phrin nodding and pulling Casey out by the arm.

- Outside the courtroom, in the lobby....Time - 10:55 am

Phrin pushed Casey into the lobby chair, getting him by surprise as he looked at her. She was very short, a bit shorter than Casey sitting down since she was only 4"05" tall but she looked fierce while she growled, "Whoa! Phrin...you know we can't have fun now. Leave the rough stuff for another night.", he joked, getting a sigh from Phrin, "This is no time for jokes Casey, I need answers, and I need it now. What exactly did you and him talk about?! I've been lenient long enough and I'll force it outta you if I have to.", she threatened, cracking her knuckles.

A bead of sweat went down his snout, getting nervous at the thought of her actually having to beat it out of him, "Whoa! Whoa! Chill Phrin! No need to get violent...just trying to stay relaxed. Anyway seems that if I don't say anything, I'll be convicted guilty...First thing is that like the old dog said, the old fart called me. He wanted to talk about "business" apparently, and it turned out to be the sorta of business that was none of his business."

Her eyes narrowed at him, wondering why he stopped, "Ok and?....that cant be it.", she asked while putting a claw on her snout. He looked back at her with a serious glare too, "And thats all I'll say Phrin. I trust you but what we talked about stays between me and him. Even if you try to beat it outta me....its too personal and I'm happy he got what he deserved. Just keep in mind that I didn't do it, and I'll let you kill me if i'm lying."

As much as she wanted to, in the law book, its not allowed to really hurt the client you're supposed to defend. Seems thats all the info she'll get out of him, but something suddenly popped into her head as she turned around and looked up, "Well then...if that really is all, I have another question. Where is your girlfriend?...I'd think that she'd be here for you, especially when you're the one accused of killing her father."

Casey didn't know what to say, shrugging as he had no clue, "Dunno. She didn't pick up her P.I.C. when I called her last night. I tried to reach her before I did you. But you do have a good point...where is she?"

- Back in the courtroom. Time - 11:01 am

They both sat back in their seats, Phrin trying to make sense of what Casey could be hiding. She noticed his nervous glance when she asked him about that so if anything Direk may know the truth somehow if he was so smug about it. Rose banged her gavel only once since both parties were ready, "Ok a bit of order here please? Now then, we left off with a bit of incriminating evidence against the defendant. Hes definitely powerful and with a bit of a bad temper, but there still lies one more witness. Phrin I hope you have some ideas in that brain of yours, cause that poor excuse for a penis there has you in the corner.", she announced to the courtroom, for once getting ignored after such an insult.

Phrin's eyes glanced right at her opponent, seeing for the first time a nervous twitch. It was something to keep an eye on but not to focus just yet, "No worries, I think I nearly have everything wrapped up, so bring in this next witness as I'll wring the testimony outta him.", she said as she cracked her knuckles. Rose nodded and looked over to Direk, noticing that he was looking not smug, but distressed. She'd care if he wasn't such an asshole, however the court of law cannot be stopped for such trivial matters, "DIREK! Whats the hold up? Bring in the next witness!"

"....Unfortunately I can't...your honor. Seems that he was killed in the waiting room as me and Phrin was wasting our time with her babbling. Since this is a private matter...I had to wait until now to tell you all.", he said with an extreme amount of anger while he balled up his fist. Everyone else gasped, especially Phrin who just lost the only person who could shed some real light on the situation.

"WHAT?! WHY THE HELL DID YOU WAIT UNTIL NOW TO TELL ME THIS?! THIS IS A GRAVE MATTER!", shouted Rose, having suddenly left her chair and grabbing him by his shirt. Phrin wondered who was left now to testify, looking over to Casey who seemed quite relieved, "You wouldn't happen to have anything to do with this would you?", she asked with him with a very terrifying gaze that made Casey slightly frightened as he shook his head, "O-of course not! I was with you the whole time! Though I'm glad he got what he deserved...he always spied on me with Brenda and got me in heaps of trouble. He was nothing but a weasel, figuratively and literally."

Direk shook his head gave Rose a sudden smooch on the cheek, "Well well, seems like a certain judge finally decided to get nice and close. Regardless, this doesn't change much. We still have one more witness.", he explained, suddenly getting his face smashed through his table with Rose wiping her chin and walking back to her chair high above them.

Phrin chuckled from what happened as the bailiff wondered what he should do, being given the signal to stay put by the judge. Direk quickly got up and wiped his shirt off, getting the diamonds back to full luster, "I see you like it rough....rawr. I call the only else who can talk, the one who's stealing my thunder in this room. Casey Wellington!.", he shouted, getting the meanest look from him.

Casey growled, hoping to not have to go up there and wondered on what to do. If he lied, Phrin would catch it, and if he ran, it would mean that he has something to hide. Suddenly an enormous amount of in his head made him wince out in pain, nearly falling over to the side, "Owwwww! Why did you do that Phrin?!", he yelled, having gotten a backhand from her, "Well its obvious. You don't wanna go and testify, so think of that as your motivation to do so. You've been quite uncooperative since I've been here, so you'll do as I say Casey....Just trust me on this, I will get you that "not-guilty" verdict but not if you keep hiding. And If you're afraid of any secrets being leaked here, don't. We're all sworn not to talk about this case with anyone not involved. Even dipstick over abides by the rules, cause death is the punishment for talking.", responded Phrin, having sort of a fiery look in her blue slitted eyes.

"Ooooooh...how rough. You look so ravishing angry Phrin.", commented Rose, grinning at her which made Phrin lose the angry look to a more embarrassed look. There was no other choice he had, lest he have his ass kicked by his own attorney. He rubbed his head still from the pain, nodding as he took the stand, "Alright alright....sheesh. You should learn not to be so rough with your clients Phrin.", he muttered, noticing her glancing at him which made him speed up to the stand.

-

Why me. Sometimes its such a pain having knowledge of everything, as it gets me kidnapped. Gonna take a lot of brainpower to get out of this mess...if I can get out that is.

Abu continued running through the huge hallway, wondering why it was such an enormous height and width. He measured that he was walking under a ceiling 24' high and a 10' wide path, "This is just too much, nothing normal, even anthros wouldn't need something this big. Must be for someone specific in order to need so much space. If that's the case, then I really have to get out of here fast---wait!", he shouted in his mind, coming to a stop as he realized that the map he memorized ended about where he stopped.

From his back pocket, he took out his P.I.C. and brought out the map again in front of him, showing it in complete 3D using the latest in holographic technology. As he thought, there was a blank where he stood which meant that he'd be going into uncharted territory. There wasn't enough power left for another sonar pulse but he couldn't just remain in the area. Quickly he turned around to backtrack, however he suddenly crashed into a wall that knocked him back and made his glasses vanish in a flash of light.

He grunted as he fell to the floor, rubbing his nose as he looked at what he ran into. It was a person, though it was someone so tall that he nearly fell back, unable to see the head as a pair of what he noticed as breasts were blocking his view. This woman wore studded black boots with many black criss-crossed laces that were polished to a glistening sheen, not looking worn one bit.

The dark grey, almost black uniform held high rank, epulets, various medals, ribbons, even the uniform itself had silver lining on the pockets ,cuffs and neck, even the hat she wore was that of a high ranking official and decorated most likely decorated accordingly..but for his part he could not see it from such a low angle. was primarily a dark greyish black, consisting of few wrinkles, only where the body moved most. The shirt and pants were finely pressed, held on by a dull fabric belt with a less then stylish buckle that looked more like a square mouth with teeth. Still with its dull fashion the belt had a sense of utility, having several pocket around the waist, even a pistol holster.

Upon seeing what she wore, he noticed that there were large black hands with white claws, very very sharp claws, "Damn it...", he muttered, jumping back a bit as he thought about what to do, knowing that the probably couldn't outrun whoever was in front of him.

The figure bent forward, her body moving into a sideways L shape, lowering enough to see eye to eye with the human in front of her. Her eyes, emerald with black slits felt like they were cutting right through him, "If it isn't the man I came to meet, you saved me a trip to the cells.", she said suddenly in the calmest voice and expression. She had long silver hair that was kept neatly on the right side of her face but he stepped back a bit more upon seeing three claw marks on her right cheek. Obviously she was a dragon, having the sharpest of white teeth and large black horns coming out from her skull at a 30 degree angle, as well as long thin but rounded ears.

That voice sent a chill up his spine, not the good kind. The coldest of feelings were emanating from her, but the worst part was her size that made her a considerable threat. The fact that she wasn't angry only added to his slight fear as he tried to remain calm, "Huh...so you're the one who got me kidnapped?....wonder why you were interested in a small time human like myself...", he asked, remaining calm as he knew he probably wouldn't be killed at this moment.

The dragoness then stood back up in full, quickly reaching over to him, catching him off guard as he lost his balance. Her grip was hard as she picked him up with a firm grip that was strong enough to cause a tinge of pain and held him to her side like a doll, "Why yes I am, and I have something you might want to consider, a proposition if you will. However these halls aren't the best place to discuss.", she said as she began to walk, not even feeling him struggle.

Her boots echoed loudly in the hall, the heavy pace heard even in other rooms. He was wondering what would she want other than his mind, "Why am I...being transported like this. I have legs...but I've landed in the worst possible situation. Shes military and quite good at her job from the medals. I've got to do this right...", he thought, seeing the lights overhead pass him as they entered a wooden door that stood out from the metallic finish the compound had.

- To be continued in the final part....

Author's note - I hope you all aren't getting tired of this courtroom stuff. Don't worry, there is one more part left in this, then on to the next big arc.
