Its what I use to practice on. Feel free to correct any errors you find. Feedback is how I advance my writing

Chapter 1: Unexpected Gifts

Part 1: New Beginnings

Night began to creep to the horizon. The sun slowly stalking the dark and melting the fog that had nested in the valleys below. The morning drum echoed through the mountains and there seemed to be no escape from the inevitable wake up call. The low tone always had a way of making Corren wake up even when he would try to ignore it.

"Maybe today will be my lucky day. Maybe I will sell something." he thought promisingly.

Everyone in the tent had already woken up and left. Corren sighed and began to pack. The noise from others waking up and packing began to fill the still sound of the camp. A rather large woman opened up the tent just as Corren was picking up his things. She looked more festive than someone from some of the surrounding farming towns. That had said a lot seeing as that was the main trade of the area. She impatiently threw her hand open. This was obviously the tent master. Corren dropped two copper quoins in her hand. She looked at her hand displeased and pushed her hand forward just a bit more. Corren dropped a silver coin into her hand.

"Stupid expensive for a traders camp" he spitefully thought. She gave a evil grin and waddled out of the tent. Corren took a second to try and wipe that image out of his head then proceeded to get out of the tent. He paused and noticed that his horse and saddle were strung out at another tents horse holder. The man next to the horse looked over and chuckled then walked over.

"Kid you can't hold a drink can you. Oh, here is my part of the bargain." The man dropped a copper ring into Corren's hand then he got on the horse laughing as he trotted away. Corren was in disbelief that he would have traded his horse. Now the trip to the water city would take three times as long.

"How much worse could things get?" He put the copper ring on and continued his journey through the mountains.
