#17 of Gateway

The crowd watched in silence as the three were pushed up the creaky wooden stairs and directed to the center of the stage, their hands bound behind their backs and the black tomato bags snuggled over their heads so they did not see the eyes beaming on them until, finally, they were told to stop and face forward.

Then the bag over their heads tore off and Demetrius, Luc, and Clarissa all squinted at the sun's bright intrusion to their eyes.

Clarissa was the first to gasp sharply, which then turned into a small sob. The only sound in the courtyard as the crowd of probably over two hundred people stood tall with their attention brought forward. Their faces judging.

Demetrius looked to his left, he was last in line of the three as Clarissa stayed at the middle and Luc remained on her left. Both of them were scared but the Human girl was the only one who showed it, Luc just remained calm but Demetrius saw past his tough exterior. His tail always twitched when he got nervous.

Looking towards his feet, he noticed the platform he stood on was a trap door. Leading where was something he wasn't concerned with as he knew in the next few moments he wouldn't be feeling ground anymore. The thought terrified Demetrius, he came to live thirty six years and all of it was going to be cut short just because he broke the kings law in talking with a Human. Not just a Human, though, his lover.

He began to think the Gods were never actually there anymore, no longer looking after him and protecting the ones he loved. Why were they doing this? Why would they play with his own life to a point of giving him hope and then tearing it away a second later?

What had his purpose been on this world? To be a pawn in their sick game of chess? Suddenly all hope within the warrior left him the second he gave that a thought. Who was he kidding? He lost his best friend, Kevin was probably dead and worst of all, he was going to die a traitor instead of a hero.

Demetrius felt his eyes burn of tears.

Accepting death felt easy now, this life he lived was nothing he wanted to partake in anymore. Simply, the Husky was finally giving up.

It was time to die...

The noose came around his neck and snapped tightly like a snake squeezing on its prey, making the Husky choke for a bit of air but what was the use? It wouldn't matter in a few minutes.

Once the Punisher, who wore only black skin tight leather clothes with a resembling mask to match, finished with Clarissa and Luc, he nodded his head to the speaker standing at the front center stage and marched towards the lever on Demetrius' right side.

"As per the orders of our great King, Sir Malik himself, Demetrius Elijah Crawford, Lucas Yorkshy Sparks, and the Human girl whose name shall remain unknown, all face capital punishment." Said the speaker in his loud voice, reading from an unfolded scroll which bore the Kingdom's shield to prove its legitimacy. "They are being judged on the acts of treason, theft, and murder. The King hereby declares these three criminals to death. Anyone who wishes to stand in their defense may rise now." Obviously they had to make their crimes up, just for a more better effect.

When no one rose to defend--which was suicide really, no one would want a knife in their backs or get arrested by soldiers for defending criminals--the speaker finished.

"Then may the Gods have mercy on your souls."

The speaker turned and nodded to the Punisher, who gripped the lever.

Demetrius squinted his eyes and tensed his body for preparation of death. His blood stopped, his heart skipped a million beats and he even sucked in a breath as he awaited for the trap door to release. But nothing happened.

Then came a whistle of an arrow, a small thud, and then an enormous explosion of screams and panic from the crowd.

When Demetrius opened his eyes and looked up, the Punisher stood still with an arrow embedded into his skull. Blood trickled down from the hole and the large leather clothed man fell to his knees first before falling backwards off the stage.

The crowd of people started to scramble now but they all stopped once there came a loud and roaring explosion on the opposite end of the courtyard, its flames engulfing one of the exits between two buildings in a fiery ball of smoke and collapsing one of buildings to smash down and cover the alleyway in rubble.

That was when the Husky warrior saw the man standing in the crowd, staying still and allowing people to panic all around him. He wore all black and his cape draped in the strong wind from the explosion.

Demetrius knew who it was instantly and frowned. Maybe the Gods did have a plan for him after all.

"Let go of me!"

Clarissa was the first to cross the Gateway's threshold, going from a world where there was actual normality to a place completely new and unknown to her. In a matter a seconds--as if walking through a door--she was through the Gate that showcased a world that was no longer New York City. The room she entered with a guard holding her wrists tightly behind her back was a large, cement walled room with sparkling silver marbled flooring. Pretty basic but the room had more guards that greeted her with weapons drawn and pointed high towards her unarmoured body. Though, this time she couldn't make out what type of animal they were as they were all equipped with head masks that matched the color of their black and gold rimmed armour.

She squirmed in all directions, trying to jump free of the guards iron grip and escape this world where suddenly a myth became reality. Clarissa was supposed to be at home in her apartment, with Kevin and even Skylar, sitting down with their dinner and enjoying each other's company but now this! This world where she was raised to believe was fake came crashing down like a domino line until finally it sunk in at the very end and knocked her down completely off guard. This wasn't a dream. This wasn't some fairy tale.

This was as real as it could ever be.

The guard shoved her forward more into the room as Luc entered next through the large Gateway, his eyes more so glued to Clarissa as he watched with a growing frustration on how the guard was treating a woman who was from the start innocent and in the wrong place at the wrong time. Luc had to admit to himself though; he felt a ting of guilt for the Human girl. She was a beautiful woman--for a human--with a passion for healing people. The Fox respected that.

He wanted to speak, but considering the amount of trouble he was in and the bundle of weapons pointed towards his head, that wasn't the best course of action now. Instead, he just accepted the fact he was being directed back into his own world and allowed the guard to force him forward into the room. The room was quiet of all sound but the silence seemed to be what made things loud in the Fox's mind. The stares of multiple soldiers glued to him as they all had to raise their weapons at their fellow comrade who was now someone they had to treat as an enemy, a traitor.

Though as much as the silence was what engulfed the room, there was one who seemed to not want to respect it at all.

"Get off me!"

Demetrius barked and struggled as the three guards pushed him through the Gateway roughly, his snarling growls viciously tearing through the room as all the armed soldiers directed their attention towards the Husky whom was now screaming at the welcome. For the sake of not getting batted in the face Luc remained still as he watched the Husky protest violently by trying to push the guards off of him. But with more of his struggling brought more soldiers to hold onto him until finally, one guard bundled the courage to walk up to Demetrius and smack their fisted paw across his muzzle with a loud crack.

Demetrius growled but his senses finally surfaced through the fogginess in his head, his glacier cold eyes scanning over his comrades as he finally rested his eyes on the soldier that whacked him across the face. One of his own actually hit him; the sheer coldness every soldier in the room gave him was overwhelming enough that it almost felt that the blood in his veins suddenly started to burn. Demetrius realized then and there that this was actually happening to him, his whole life was now crumbling before him all because he protected his love. The Gods must be testing his judgement because the ten years of bad luck was still riding his back like a monkey, suffocating him with pure hatred.

The Husky let his ears fall to the side of his head helplessly as he was shoved to the side with Luc and Clarissa who just kept their gazes softly on the large warrior.

Last but not least, the final soldier walked through the Gate and the large portal closed shut behind him with a deafening suction sound that vacuumed the air inside and left the room depressurized for a minute before it returned to normal and everyone was able to shake their heads for their ears to pop into normality. Though when everyone gazed up to the last guard who stepped through the Gateway, everyone seemed to release a gasp of air that was almost as collective as the silence:

The last guard was alone.

Clarissa's eyes jumped wide open and she gasped inwardly herself, "Where's Kevin?" It was a question that stayed unanswered in the air as all eyes never left the last guard who suddenly looked at all of his sides quickly, trying to see where Kevin was.

"He was right in front of me..." Finally the guard responded confusingly and looked up at the large group of men in front of him who looked at one another.

"What do you mean he was right in front of you?" Demetrius glared cold glacier eyes at the soldier who held Kevin before crossing and spoke with his commanding voice, "How can you lose someone who was right there!?"

"I...I don't know. I had him I swear." The guard raised his arms to demonstrate where Kevin was but that wasn't doing much for Demetrius. Even though the Husky warrior was being arrested for capital punishment, he still scared all the soldiers in the room because he was their leader. Yesterday they respected him, now they don't.

Luc growled, "Where could he go? He can't be in the Human world he would have been caught even if he tried to escape. There were dozens of guards in the room with us."

Demetrius looked at the ground and scanned all the soldiers' feet, his thought process working a mile a minute as he tried to remember the last thirty seconds. Kevin was screaming and struggling to get out of the guards hold, hollering over the loud sounds of the Gateways voluminous winds thrashing around for Skylar before Demetrius was pushed ahead of him. That's all he could remember from then, hearing Kevin's screams until the Husky entered the Gates threshold and after that, nothing.

Kevin just vanished, but where...? The Husky thought as his thoughts replayed everything like a fast paced movie.

Then, Demetrius realized, his eyes shooting wide open and his fur standing tall on his body. There was only one place Kevin would go once he stepped through the Gateway.

"The Eternal Lake..." He whispered to himself.

"What?" Luc looked at the Husky with a questioning look.

"The Eternal Lake...!" Demetrius raised his voice, his ears standing tall once again, "That's where Kevin died! His body is at the bottom of the Lake!" Demetrius then--at that second of panic--clued in on where Kevin had vanished to.

"He's in the lake!"

Kevin woke with a searing pain of what seemed like fire burning his entire body and thrashed around. Though with all his strength it seemed like all the muscles in his body were what replaced the pain with a more unbearable one and his movements seemed to be slowed down by something as if his body was forced to slow motion. Kevin gasped, but only liquid filled his mouth entirely and he found no air to greet his lungs. His eyes shot open and they immediately burned like salt being tossed into his naked cornea. Everything around Kevin was stinging with a pain that felt all too familiar but something the Human knew he didn't want to feel ever again. But that was an understatement.

Kevin bundled up in a panic and felt a few bones pop as he kicked off the ground surface and torpedoed upwards. His lungs were burning and aching to be filled with sweet and refreshable air and his skin felt shriveled and tight that when he stretched upwards he felt every ligament expand as if in relief.

The surrounding he was in was water he understood that much but how did he get here? He was being forced through the portal when suddenly it just felt like he was waking up from a long nap. His heart was pounding hard against his chest and his brain felt all too foggy as he swam in a direction he assumed was up. That's all he had to hope for, if he wasn't going up then he would accept the fact that he would be dead in seconds from suffocation.

Air! He needs air badly, the water just kept going...going...going... his body was weakening. His lungs were screaming as he kicked as hard as he could with the energy he had. This feeling of not breathing was the worst feeling Kevin has ever went through right now and his brain just couldn't function right anymore. But he had to kick; he had to keep swimming until he found air.

He kicked faster with what excess strength he had and gasped for something--anything--but water was what intruded his lungs until finally, finally, Kevin broke surface. His gasp for air was very loud and audible enough that wherever he was there was bound to be someone who heard it. He sucked greedily at the openness and allowed his lungs to feed on the oxygen, his eyes shooting wide open and the sudden brightness made the pain in them return.

He was outside, the sun that glared at him hotly made him aware of the much needed heat. Kevin shivered, he was cold?

The sound of rushing was what he heard as his audial sense came back to him, but that was not his biggest concern as he began to slowly allow his eyes to open and try to examine his surroundings. The place was blurry but the colors of green were what he could see, along with a mixture of blue.

When the fogginess in his head and the blur in his eyes cleared, Kevin's whole being felt like it was hit with a big arrow of nostalgia.

He was in a lake, floating about a couple hundred meters away from land but he knew this lake wasn't just some random lake. It all came to be very familiar to him as he knew he was here before, the sense of dread and agony loomed over him as he stared at his place of death.

The Eternal Lake wasn't just the place he died at, Demetrius died here too.

Their relationship was killed at this very lake. Kevin felt his eyes burn from the threat of tears, emotions taking over him as he came to the conclusion he was back in Demetrius' world.

This was real.

This was the final piece of the puzzle he needed to confirm that in his head Arella, Demetrius, and their love was real. This wasn't a dream he had as a teenager, this was proof he wasn't crazy!

"Get out of the water and surrender peacefully!"

Kevin spun around and was greeted with a platoon of soldiers holding their bow and arrows aimed at him, their armour a different color from Demetrius' own kingdom one. Kevin's heart sunk into his stomach and watched closely at the ready-to-fire archers, the glints of the pointed end showing perfectly that Kevin needed to respond immediately or face being pelted with a dozen arrows.

"Get out now or accept your death. You have until the count of three."

Kevin looked at the threat that stood on dry land with their weapons aimed at him floating in the water. His options were slim to none but he could weigh the decision easily, simply Kevin obliged and paddled in their direction.

As he was approaching the soldiers, Kevin could hear their low voices as he honed in slowly. "Is that a Human?" One of the soldiers holding a bow and arrow said confusingly as he was speaking to the leader.

The leader remained calm but his complexion was also showing the confusion as his eyes remained hard on Kevin.

"How is he not drowning? He should have been paralyzed by now?"

"Is he a spy for the King?"

"Why would the King have a Human spy?"

"We should kill him."

"Enough." The leader growled and tilted his head down to look devilishly at the talking soldiers. That all didn't make Kevin feel better about himself at that moment, swimming towards them and being the center of attention only made him feel claustrophobic enough. But the soldiers raised a good question in which Kevin remembered happened to him ten years ago.

Kevin died because the lake paralysed him and shut down his primary functions. The Eternal Lake was something no one should mess with and for some reason Kevin was swimming in it just fine. No muscle in his body was feeling like electricity was soaring through it but the question still hung on the edge of his mind.

Why was he alive?

When Kevin made it to the soldiers he was hefted out roughly and held by two men on both sides of him while the leader looked harshly down at the Human. The leader was a tall Gator with eyes that could punch holes into anything because of their sharpness and vibrant color, "How did you get here, Human?" He asked in a growl.

Kevin swallowed hard and looked back in a more frightened manor, his legs shaking and he was the two soldiers could feel it too. "I... I don't know." He wished he could have a better answer to give because the face that now shown on the Gator was a look of a murderer. His breathing became harsher and shorter while his bulky shoulders tensed to hold his fists from grabbing his weapon and stabbing Kevin on the spot.

"We should kill him, Alias." Someone from behind the Gator spoke up and for a second Alias was about to bark at the one who offered his opinion unasked but then the thought crossed his mind the second before he could react.

No, killing a Human before finding out how he got here was foolish. Garock would be interested in finding this out any information he could. The boy needs to stay alive, for now.

"Take him to Garock's tent and keep an eye on him there. Don't let him out of your sights." Alias turned and walked through the group of soldiers.

"Where are you going?" The same voice called out again. The Gator would have to deal with him later in a more private manor to make sure he knew the rules and chain of command.

"We need to message our leader; this is something he'll want to see for himself."

Demetrius growled as he stood up against the holding cells bars with his muzzle half out through the gaps in between, screaming at the air for someone to hear him and to release him so he could go to Kevin. Though, as much as he screamed to the tops of his lungs, the silence only filled the spaces afterwards which meant no one was going to listen to the Husky warrior. This was an outrage, Demetrius shouldn't be in here because he didn't do anything wrong, he and Kevin were once lovers and this should have been the only exception! It's been ten years, how could he not talk to Kevin?

Clarissa and Luc sat opposite of the bars with their backs against the damp and moldy wall, watching in exhaustion of the Husky demanding to be released but clearly getting no response as he has been at this for more than two hours. Screaming, growling, punching, pacing, all of which were a routine in the exact order and Demetrius would never change until he got what he wanted. But they all knew he would never get it.

Luc sighed heavily after more punches were being tossed at the iron bars, the deep thuds of bone to iron filling his ears, "Demetrius." He started finally but got no response, "Demetrius..." He raised his voice this time.

"Shut up!" The Husky growled.

"Just stop," Luc continued anyway, "Give it a rest."

"I said shut up!" Demetrius snapped and spun on his feet to glare his cold eyes at the tired Fox, who held his gaze back with a bit more fury added to it.

"Punching the bars are not going to get you anywhere, Demetrius, just stop for five minutes."

"I don't care! I need to get out." The Husky turned to the bars and grabbed two in his paws so he could violently shake them, but neither budged.

"And do what?" Asked Luc who was getting annoyed by now, "Get killed?"

"To get Kevin," He responded quickly, "He needs me!"

Clarissa, who sat with her arms wrapped around her legs tightened her muscles tensely and looked down at the floor, but not in fear for some reason because the Fox sensed something more deep than that. He couldn't seem to figure it out though even if he had the silence to try.

"I'm sure he's fine, Demetrius, he's a big boy." Luc knew that wasn't true, Kevin was in the Eternal Lake for gods sakes! The boy could have woken up from the dead to be paralyzed minutes later and drown to death anyway. Dying for the second time in this world already, not many people can say they did that. But that raises the question, if Kevin passed through the Gateway to only die again, does this mean he's actually dead for good in both worlds?

This type of stuff brought Luc a new migraine on top of the other. The thought of Gate travel was always confusing to him but the frustration really had to lay on the Husky's hands, Kevin and him actually went through world shifts together and knew how exhausting and torturous it can be. Just thinking about the whole thing made the Fox week, but that could be just because he was in this cell for a long time now that his young age was catching up to him. Luc may have been young but a soldier's body was not meant for doing nothing, they have to constantly be on the go or doing something and sleep was the only break they could get. The anxiousness was getting to both soldiers now and Clarissa was possibly the only normal one here...besides being Human.

Demetrius leaned his back to the bars and slid down until his rump hit the damp flooring, his personal surrender finally showing and his ears fell to the sides a little to show that he was worried. He always did that, Luc noticed, when Demetrius let his ears fall it would mean the Husky had too many emotions going through his mind that it made him constantly worry and overthink. "I can't lose him... I love him too much to go through this all again."

Clarissa showed annoyance this time and she finally looked up into the Husky's eyes and spoke for the first time since they entered the cell, "So his story is about you. It's actually true."

The two soldiers have looked up at the Human girl with equally puzzled expressions and didn't know what she was talking about. But Clarissa was finally catching on now, answering every question she had floating in her head by the observations she was making here and the similarities it shared with Kevin's book.

"Kevin's writing a book," She said boldly with just a touch of annoyance hanging on the tip of her tongue as well, "And the story is about you and him and how you met, I wasn't supposed to read it but when you babysit a four year old you have a lot of time on your hands once you put them to sleep."

"What was in it?" Demetrius asked as his attention just changed and focused on what Clarissa had said, his ears perking up a little and showing his interest with his tail as it was twitching his excitement on the news. Though Clarissa wasn't getting excited as she hated the sight of Demetrius hearing this news that Kevin's book was based around their 'relationship'.

"I don't know, stuff." She huffed and looked away from the Husky, her body going back to it's tense state and giving the two soldiers in the cell the cold shoulder.

Demetrius just scoffed in response to her wordless retort and also avoided eye contact, suddenly getting the vibe of jealousy coming from the girl in huge radiant waves. "He's better off with me." He muttered.

Clarissa glared at the Husky with eyes of a demon and felt the anger in her stomach build up, "Right, a dog. Because that'll make his life better."

"Hey," Luc's ears drooped a little to her response but when she gave him a brief look he sensed an apology in her hurtful eyes and let her words go.

"At least he loves me." Demetrius came back with an attack that made Clarissa even more mad.

"He loves me too!"

"Right, okay, and what's the title of the book he's writing about you?"

"Enough!" Luc yelled in between the two just as Clarissa shot her deadly glares at Demetrius as he said those hurtful words, but as much as she hated to admit it he was right. Kevin hadn't really done much to show love to Clarissa, he never gave her flowers, he never spent time with her outside of their apartment much, he never visited the hospital when she worked. Up until he found out about Demetrius Kevin became distant, at least before the dog came into his life Kevin would invite Clarissa to fashion shows and take her to events as his date.

That all stopped quickly as the Husky came into the scene.

"Look, fighting isn't going to do you two good right now. We need to just keep our heads on straight and figure a way out of here, not act like children."

"There is no escape, I know this dungeon like the back of my hands. It's impenetrable." Demetrius grumbled his response and leaned his head back to look up at the moldy ceiling, assessing the mess he got himself in and trying to move the thought of Kevin in trouble to the back of his mind. No use in worrying too much when Demetrius knew his capitol punishment was soon arriving.

"Nothing is ever impenetrable." Luc responded, bringing himself to stand on his feet and walk around the little space they had, inspecting the corners and cracks in the wall. "There has to be something here that we can take advantage of..."

Demetrius sighed and closed his eyes to erase the vision of the present and try and focus on a dreamland where he was out in the farmlands, free of demands and soldiers and betrayals. Demetrius was already feeling his age and retirement was occasionally crossing his mind at some points of his life, already he was getting sick of listening to orders and having a responsibility of commanding other soldiers and fighting to protect. He was annoyed with always fighting--given he was a skilled warrior--he never felt the need to always fight. It wasn't his answer, but it was an easy solution.

A fix to his problems.

Sighing and realizing he was in the present where he was stuck in a cell with two annoying people, Demetrius grumbled, "If there is one I'll be sure to make note of it when we get out of here."

"What makes you think we will get off free for this. Demetrius we broke the code. That spells capital punishment!" Luc started to shake some bars but to no avail none of them didn't shake or show signs of being loose.

"Because I'm not going down without a fight."

Kevin didn't bother to move as he knew the guards standing watch behind him would react to kill immediately if he shown signs of a fight. Something Kevin wanted to avoid completely because he's been stabbed once in his life before and having that happen again was not on his agenda. The large tent was full of candles and armour and weapon stands holding probably the best equipment known to man, also a bed and night stand in one corner of the space, which meant this was someones living quarters.

To whom this tent belonged to was a question that Kevin had a feeling he would meet very soon and so far he wasn't liking the odds. If one person managed to have a large tent like this with rare items held closely in it is a very powerful person. Kevin has read too many fantasy stories to know he was in the high ranking general's tent. Though the soldiers seemed to have spared him this long so there had to be a reason why as to why they are keeping him here and calling their leader back. They knew something Kevin didn't but what exactly was it?

Given the circumstances of where he was sitting, Kevin rethought the whole arrival to this world closely in his head. For starters, when Kevin walked through the Gateway he awoke in the water that caused his death ten years ago. He was forgetting something though, how did he manage to die? Kevin tried his hardest all these years to forget and repress the cause of death that when he felt the need to remember it he honestly couldn't. There was a cause for his death, but what was it?

Kevin let his eyes wander the room but his whole conscious was honestly stuck in his head, trying to figure out the answers he needed. The last thing Kevin remembered was pain and Demetrius holding his body close as he was losing his grip on this world. The cause of pain was because he...

Kevin slowly inhaled a breath of air.

The water, the Eternal Lake is the reason he died because of it's electrical element. Once Kevin submerged it literally shot through his body and was the reason he died so why did Kevin feel nothing when he awoke in the Lake an hour ago? The only pain he felt was his muscles, which could easily be explained because he hadn't moved his body in ten years. But how come Kevin didn't die again for being in the water, there was no feeling of electricity coursing through his body.

Could that be why they spared his life? Because he was Human and didn't die in the lake? That'd be the dumbest reason to keep him alive if Kevin couldn't give them an answer on how he'd done it.

A minute later the front entrance curtain to the tent swooshed open and a large Feline stood in the threshold, his large arms held open as if he wanted to hug Kevin and a large, psychotic grin painted his face so brightly, "By the gods," He said slowly, his happiness tone just giving the room a fresher feel, "It's true. You're alive."

Kevin watched the large Feline strut big steps into the tent and came to stand inches away from the Human in a matter of seconds, his happy face glowering down at him and admiring the reality. Kevin winced under the intense stare and tried to look away but those purple irises were just so hypnotising to look at that he found it hard to look away at some point. Upon further observation it looked like the purple color in his eyes were misty, slowly moving like clouds rolling in a sky around the pupil. That seemed to be very unusual and Kevin suddenly felt a pang of emergency, a warning that this wasn't just a soldier anymore.

This was the general.

"I never imagined I'd ever get a chance to meet you but here you are, it is such an honor to meet the first Human boy to ever cross between two worlds. This just changes everything." He knelt down on one knee and matched his height to Kevin's, his eyes never leaving the Humans terrified ones. "Oh!" He grunted loudly, as if realizing something, "Where are my manners? My name is Garock Ursuul, I am the leader of this Eternal army and am the mastermind behind the rebellions."

Eternal army?

Kevin's eyes shot wide open, this was what Demetrius was talking about. The Eternal Soldiers, the ones who were wanting to kill off the Human race and start this war, they were the bad people Demetrius was trying to warn him about! Suddenly all of this was piecing together in his head, Kevin was in enemy territory sitting right in front of the one who wants to start this mass genocide. Everything within Kevin started to shake violently.

"Don't worry," Garock responded to Kevin's silence peacefully, "You mustn't worry about introducing yourself, I already know who you are Kevin Justice. You are the reason I am doing all of this. You are the reason you made me become who I am today. Most importantly, you are the one responsible for giving me such great power." His eyes glared a brighter color of purple and suddenly Kevin gasped harshly at that ability, its as if the purple misty clouds in his irises were protruding into the whites of his eyes like food coloring in water.

"H-how..." Kevin choked out quickly in between catching his air, his lungs for some reason were lacking the right amount of oxygen.

"How did you help me become this way, you mean?" He tilted his head and the Saber's eyes grew brighter in contrast of color.

Kevin nodded hastily.

"Because I was infatuated with you, fascinated on how you--of all people--could be able to cross between two worlds. When I found out it was by blood crossing, a ceremonial tradition we symbolise as marriage, I knew I had to get a hold of your blood." The large Feline grabbed Kevin's wrist and yanked it up, causing the Human to squeak in surprise at the action and look towards his arm, which had a large scar on it. This scar had not been on his arm before, at least, not in his normal world. "And I did." Garock said lowly enough that it was literally a purr. "The blood of a Human runs through my veins. After years of perfection, your blood and my family history gave me this ability to supernatural power. My ancestors were always accused of being witches, I never truly believed this until I felt and saw it for myself, turns out my ancestors figured out that Human blood was the key to having the ability of what I possess." He smirked and never let his eyes leave Kevin's as the Human only stared in disbelief.

None of this was making much sense to Kevin, in order for Garock to obtain this power he needed the blood of a Human. But how did his ancestors figure this out, they would have needed to have been in the Human world unless... there was a Human before him.

"You're thinking." Garock purred amusedly again and felt the fur on his neck stand as he was happy Kevin was catching on. "You must be thinking of a million things right now and none of them is getting answers. That's why your heart is racing so much." The large Saber released Kevin's wrist and stood, taking a few steps back and unhooking his chest armour.

"How could your ancestors have known about Human blood?" He asked eagerly, leaning forward a little but one of the guards slapped a large paw on his shoulder and slammed him back against the seat. "I was the only one who crossed worlds."

Garock paused when he was about to remove the armour and quizzically looked over at Kevin, "Is that what they said to you?"

Kevin snapped his head back a little, "What do you mean?"

Garock removed his chest armour and stood tall half naked, his bulky chest lining almost like an adonis sculpture, "They must have really wanted to keep this a secret..." He muttered as he hung the plating on a rack beside him and walked toward his basket of fabric.

"Keep what a secret?" Kevin persisted, and Garock turned to him half stride.

"There was a Human before you." He said as he chose a robe out of the basket. "This Human was the reason why we know about your world to begin with. He came to our world sixteen years before you arrived and was considered a legend after his big finale."

Finale?

"What was his name?" Kevin asked as he sunk it all in, drinking in the unknown knowledge of someone who came here before him and even before the time he was supposed to be born.

Garock slipped on the robe and tied it around his waist, giving it a few tugs so his neck and center chest could breath a little, "Marcus Lovathan." He growled, "Unfortunately his story is much like yours, he came to this world and met someone he fell in love with--except they weren't married at their first encounter like you and the mut--and then died trying to save the one he loved."

"Why did he die?"

"He was given a choice," Garock responded sadly, his eyes distant, "He chose wrong..."

Felix came back to the Anthro world with Garock once he'd been called from the Human world, his body still in the healing process but the Saber never wanted him to spend another minute in that wretched world of disgusting beings. Also he didn't trust the fact that Humphrey, his somewhat loyal Rat, assumed command over his Fennec.

His? Felix thought as he sunk deeper in the hot water he sat in, the moment Garock and him arrived through their Gateway he ordered the servants to ready a tub full of hot water for him. Not that he complained, the Fennec's body was lathered in stains of blood and dirt so a hot bath is what he needed to feel every memory fade away. But that never stopped his thought process of thinking of Garock. His leader whom had the unfortunate flaw of falling in love with Felix.

It wasn't even a flaw! It should have been to the assassin but for some reason he didn't want to make Garock stop loving him. Felix was.... liking the fact that the large--psychotic--Saber was in love with him. It was a feeling he never had before because he made sure he kept that life away from his dirty work. It just became something he never thought about until now.

Sure, Felix had people who liked him and he knew they did in his past but he made sure he never acted on letting his guard down. Hell, he was still a virgin!

"Urgh!" He dunked his head under the hot water to make the burn make him forget about that small detail. He was ashamed of this fact, his young age and looks should have bedded him already but he was just afraid of showing someone his true self. His body was his property and just the thought of giving it to someone was repulsive. He never had the pleasure of someone's muzzle on his body, never had the ecstasy of someone filling him up or even him entering someone else. He just had his own self to tend to his tedious arousal.

Even as he finished his own self service he hated himself afterward for giving in to his desire. He should primarily be focused on his mission and contribution to Garock's revolution, not his petty simple needs.

His goal was to obey and respond to Garock so he can be trusted as an Elite member. He was a true inspiration to Felix and contributing to the Saber's cause was an honor to him so he couldn't screw this up by being blind sighted by his desires.

But that doesn't stop Garock from wanting Felix for his own desire...

Felix shook his head and pictured the man who was his idol, his leader Garock Ursuul, the man who was in love with the Fennec. The one who healed the wounds he had a couple hours ago with just his bare paws! Those large... firm paws... they rubbed greedily on his torso...!

Felix surfaced with a loud splash, inhaling sharply so that the cold air would fill his lungs and touch his face enough that the dirty thoughts would leave his mind. He could already feel his body betraying him as he was feeling his pelvic region getting hotter than the water. Damnit!

Felix began to blush intensely.

"Sorry I am late," A voice started from behind him. "I was talking to a prisoner."

Felix recognized the voice before he knew who it was when he turned to see him, Garock was standing a few feet away from the hot tub already disrobing himself and not even caring about who was around--even though they were a few feet outside the base camp in the shrubbery. Felix felt his heart drop into his stomach when he saw his leader take off his robe, his large massive torso was a magnificent sight but still Felix looked away and tried to pretend he wasn't looking at him in that way. Thankfully when Felix saw him the Saber only had his torso armour off but after a few seconds of shuffling he could hear the sound of his bottoms coming off too and hitting the ground.

Felix began to get nervous.

He wasn't actually thinking about getting into the water with him was he? Felix thought this was meant for him only but now he started to clue in that maybe Garock planned for this. He would be the type to plan something like this, he was literally an evil genius...

"The air seems colder at this time of day." He said as he stepped into the tub of hot water next to Felix, easing in slowly and growling his pleasure out to prove the water was relaxing his tense muscles. The Assassin only blushed hard and looked away, his heart pounding more so than it was a second ago when he was thinking of his leader inappropriately. "How are you liking the water?" Felix felt him speak in his direction and felt Garock's eyes on him. His exposed, naked self!

He wanted to drown in the tub from this humiliation!

"It's fine." He replied shakily, keeping his gaze away from the leader. Damn it, He thought, what is wrong with me?

Garock chuckled under his breath and leaned back to enjoy the moment. "I wanted you to take some time off after your brutal attack. You've done more than enough."

"More than enough?" Felix repeated and looked at Garock this time, suddenly feeling frustration build up in his gut as he couldn't believe he said those words, "I have done nothing! I've yet to show you what I am truly capable of and that is completely unacceptable. If anything I have failed you, my lord."

Garock held Felix's gaze for a moment and smiled, looking into those sad eyes and just seeing the heartbreak and pessimism, "On the contrary," He lifted his large arm to lay over Felix's shoulders and pull the Fennec closer to his side, feeling the smaller body tense beside him, "You have done more than enough to help this effort."

Felix squeezed his eyes shut and tried to focus on pretending he was somewhere else, anywhere but here next to his leader whom was naked and touching the Fennec. "I could have done more."

"Shhh," Garock softly whispered beside his ear, sending a large slow shiver to snake down his spine, Felix snapped his eyes open to look up and meet his leaders, "I don't want you to prove yourself when I know how capable you are. Why do you think you're apart of my cause? I see what you really are, your demons are the same as mine." The large Saber grabbed the Fennec's hand paw and held it tight as he spoke, his violet eyes never leaving the others, "Seeing you hurt today made me realize I don't want you to prove yourself. I want you safe. You are the reason I fight for this cause."

Felix blushed and only stared into Garock's. "But all I did was just make the Alliance soldiers more angry with that attack on the Human's Gateway." His ribs were still sore from Demetrius slamming his frame against the wall, but for some reason in this moment Felix couldn't feel the pain too much. His attention was too focused on his leader to care for it.

"Oh, but you are incorrect. You actually taken out one of my problems." Garock slipped his fingers into the Fennec's and nuzzled into his neck.

"What?"

Garock licked the crook behind the jawbone and Felix squirmed in response, seeming to only bring the leader to keep teasing between words, "That little act you did brought a big response. I'm sure by now Demetrius is being escorted to his capitol punishment. It is a shame I cannot see it but I have more important matters to attend to." The large hand started to massage Felix's thigh.

"So he's going to be executed by the Kingdom?" Felix enjoyed that thought.

"Not exactly."

"What do you mean?"

Garock gripped the Fennec's sheath and Felix yelped loud enough for only them to hear. If the Saber kept this up he would just forget about his question and just mount the hell out of his leader. "I have other plans for his death. He won't be killed by the Kingdom," He squeezed harder until he felt the erection begin to bulge, "He'll be killed by the hand of my brother..."

"You have a brother?" Felix asked as he let that large paw rub his sheath into a more hot arousal.

"He's not just my brother..." Garock purred as he fiddled between Felix's legs, "He is the founder of our rebellion, the true leader of our Eternal cause."

"Sir!" A soldier called out from behind them but neither of them seemed to phased by the intrusion.

"What is it?" Garock responded in an amused voice as he just stared at the Fennec's pleasured expression.

"It's time."

Felix let a gasp out and forgot what he was going to ask next.

It could wait...

Present

Demetrius knew it was him but this time he gave off the wrong vibe.

He stepped off the stage and landed smoothly, his glacier eyes not leaving the black cloaked figure who now began to reach for his two swords strapped to his back. They sparkled in the sunlight as they were unsheathed and Demetrius could only watch as he swung them gradually around him and tossed one towards the Husky, who caught it by the hilt so that they were both armed.

As the crowd panicked all around them these two only remained still, calm and assertive.

"You never died." Demetrius called to his friend.

The cloaked man lifted his hands up to bring the hood down from his face and looked up into the sky to adjust the brightness. Inhaling deeply, Damien smiled and slowly looked towards Demetrius, "You always were short sighted."

The wind began to pick up harder now, blowing clouds of dust from the ground as another explosion erupted in the Kingdom, though this time it came from outside the area they were all in but still, Demetrius could hear dozens of more screams.

Another explosion ignited the distance, followed by another and another.

The city was under attack.

The revolution has started.
