As the sun rose above the jungle world a panther stirred, stretched and began to look around. Bagheera paused. Mowgli had a point; afterall the boy had never seen a human before. The closest thing that he had seen to another human had been mancubs; an all male species related to humans but not humans themselves. Mowgli already acted like a true mancub and would fit right in.

Bagheera thought about it for a moment. "The boy has a point, he would fit right in. Maybe I should just give him away to a mancub tribe." For a moment Bagheera was about to relent to the boy's request but then another train of thought entered his head. "No, mancubs make up the bottom of the food chain here in the jungle. When mancubs emerge from the spawning pools they can already fend for themselves, and even then they rarely last more than a year. Mowgli would not last a single day in the jungle." Bagheera even doubted that the boy could avoid becoming a bulge in a predator's stomach for more than an hour; if he was lucky. Mowgli had only survived because he was under the protection of himself and the wolf pack, without it he was dinner and Bagheera could not watch over the boy at all times of the day.

Bagheera: "No Mowgli, you are going to live in the manvillage and that is final. Oh, stop your pouting and lean back. Uncle Bagheera will make you forget about all your troubles." Mowgli rode atop Bagheera's back as they traveled through the dense jungle. Night was fast approaching and Bagheera knew that they needed to find shelter. As thunder echoed in the distance the two came upon a large tree, which was followed by a few hectic moments as Bagheera tried to get mowgli up to the higher branches. Once they reached the upper branches the two began to settle down for the night unaware that a pair of reptilian eyes watched them from above.

Kaa was confused by the fact that a panther would travel with a mancub and not even attempt to eat him. But his question was soon answered when the wind shifted bringing the scent of the boy to his nostrils.

Mowgli: "Oh go away and leave me alone." Said mowgli as he pushed Kaa's face away.

Kaa laughed at the last word that the panther had used for this was no mancub but a humancub. But if that was what the humancub thought of itself as then who was Kaa to judge? After all humancubs make the same shaped bulges in his stomach anyway, so why not play along? Kaa turned back towards the humancub, eyes swirling with colors.

So if he could not avoid it why bother resisting? After all Bagheera would find him later, so there was no reason for him to worry about anything anymore.
