"Why'd you think I got you two to hang back? It's not as scary when six guys are beaten by three..."

"WOOF!"

"Sorry... four, assailants." Sasuke corrected himself. Akamaru happily wagged his tail at the recognition.

"Quite the smart one ain't he?" Came a voice from above. All of them looked up to see two silhouettes standing atop the bridge looking down at them, the light nearly completely gone with the sun setting beneath the horizon. Even without being able to see them properly, they all knew that these men were a threat.

"Kisuke! Karabe!" The bandit leader gasped in fear, having caught his breath enough to talk now, as he gazed up at the two shadowed figures standing atop the bridge.

"Eh? You're still alive?" One of the figures asked coldly.

"P-please!" The bandit leader begged, slamming his head into the ground, bowing in apology. "I won't fail you again!"

"No... you won't!" The bandit leader slumped to the ground dead, a kunai protruding from his forehead. Sasuke and the others quickly leapt back creating some distance between them and the mysterious duo standing before them.******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

The Land of Waves - Part 2

"You... you killed him..." Naruto stammered. "You killed him!" He yelled in anger, his glare locked onto the shadowed figures.

"He-he-he... of course, he was of no further use to us."

"I think he's angry that you killed him Karabe."

"Really?"

"You bet your ass I am!" Naruto yelled.

"Still a kid, mad that I killed someone... someone who was trying to rob you as well. Strange kid..."

"Come down here and I'll show you just how strange I can be!!!"

"Naruto..." Kiba muttered.

"Shut up! It sounded better in my head!" Naruto snapped, his hand gripping the hilt of his sheathed sword tightly.

"I'll assume you are the ones in charge of the bandits in this area then?" Sasuke spoke, tired of Naruto's yelling.

"Smart kid. You must be the leader of this squad."

"What of it?" Sasuke glared.

"I'm guessing you're the strongest of the group, if we take you down then the others should fall fairly easily."

"Hey! I'm just as good as Sasuke, better even!" Kiba roared, not happy about being under estimated. Akamaru growled in response. Naruto mean while felt his blood boiling, they were ignoring him and underestimating him, two things that annoyed him the most.

"Oh yeah, I'll show you just how strong I am!" Naruto roared, quickly entering his quick draw stance and drawing his sword, projecting a wave of orange chakra outwards from the tip of the sword as it sliced through the air. The orange chakra flew at the two silhouetted figures atop the bridge, they quickly leapt from their perch a moment before the chakra wave struck, the wave causing a small explosion and obliterating the metal beam they had been standing on. Karabe and Kisuke landed in front of the group and watched Naruto warily, the black blade of his sword cloaked in orange chakra. Both Sasuke and Kiba stared at Naruto and his chakra coated blade in surprise, even after watching him fight and duelling with him, Sasuke had never suspected that Naruto had such an attack.

'I guess he learned a lot more than the quick-draw during his journey with Jiraiya.' Sasuke thought as he stared at the chakra that coated Naruto's blade and activated his Sharingan. 'That's no ordinary chakra, it's potent and I've seen it before, back when I fought Naruto in the Valley of the End. I only managed to win by using my curse seals full power, if he's learned to focus that chakra... worry about that later Sasuke!' He mentally berated himself for getting distracted and turned to face the two enemy ninja who stood before them.

They both had long sliver hair, one had it tied back while the other let it hang loose over his shoulders, they could have been brothers. They both wore similar black outfits, except the one who left his hair loose wore a large, black, leather trench coat, he didn't seem to carry any obvious weapons like his comrade who had two swords strapped across his back.

"We'll give you brats one last chance to turn around and leave, and never come back." Kisame spoke, reaching for the hilt of his sword with his right hand.

"That's funny, I was about to say the same thing to you." Kiba smirked drawing a kunai from it's holster.

"Impertinent brat!" Kisame scowled.

"You're out numbered, three-to-two!" Sasuke declared. Akamaru barked his protest.

"Four-to-two!" Kiba corrected.

"Which ones do you want Kisame?" Karabe asked with an amused smile.

"I'll take these two," He said indicating Sasuke and Naruto. "It's been a while since I've had a decent sword fight. The two of them together might actually be enough of a challenge to keep me awake." Kisame's off hand remark about their skill made Naruto's blood boil.

"Then I'll take the mutt and his master then."

"Who do you think you're calling a mutt!" Kiba snarled.

"Try and make this interesting, it's been a while since I've had a decent fight!" Karabe smirked.

Slowly the two groups separated, not wanting to interfere with the other. As they moved they all watched each other, sizing each other up, planning their first moves, making sure no one from the other group would make a sudden move against them. Once the distance had been made they continued their silent face off, waiting for the moment the fight would begin.

************

Sasuke used his sharingan to take in every detail of his opponent, he couldn't detect anything that would amount to an attack, so he continued to wait. Normally he would wait for the opportune moment but he had Naruto with him, and he knew that Naruto would be the first to attack, he may have grown stronger but he was still the same impatient knuckle head that he always was.

"I don't like your eyes." Kisame growled, narrowing his glare at Sasuke. "I want to cut them out of your head! In fact... that's not a bad idea!" Kisame drew both his swords and lowered his stance.

Sasuke drew his own sword and readied himself, continuing to take in every detail about Kisame with his sharingan, he examined Kisame's swords, they were polished to an immaculate shine and had intricate designs carved along their length. They looked to be more like ceremonial weapons than a sword used in regular conflict, but the way Kisame composed himself gave Sasuke little doubt that this man was a master swords man, he was out numbered two-to-one and didn't look any more worried than if he was standing before two practise dummies.

"Hey! I'm here as well!" Naruto yelled, tired of being ignored in this fight.

"Little boys should go home before they get hurt!" Kisame said off hand, his gaze never leaving Sasuke.

"That's it! I'll teach you to under estimate me!" Naruto charged straight for Kisame, his sword raised high over his head.

"Naruto, NO!" Sasuke cried after him, he could already see how Kisame was going to react, he had to stop it. Sasuke sprinted forward, trying desperately to block Kisame's strike, but he wasn't going to make it in time. Sasuke watched in horrifying slow motion as Kisame's sword sliced through the air towards Naruto's torso, with his blade raised high above his head Naruto had no chance of blocking it. The moment Kisame's blade sliced through Naruto's flesh Naruto disappeared in a cloud of smoke.

'Shadow clone?' Sasuke thought with relief as he realised Naruto was okay. In the next moment he realised the full extent of Naruto's attack and moved to intercept Kisame during his momentary confusion, he was quick to react however, bringing his sword around to block Sasuke's attack. Normally Sasuke never would have charge directly as he had, but it meant that Kisame had no real way of avoiding Naruto's follow up attack. Sasuke watched Naruto's sword fall through the air, two seconds had passed since Naruto's shadow clone had bit the dust, the sword burst into a small cloud of smoke as Naruto transformed back, swinging his sword in an over head swing at Kisame's exposed back.

It happened so quickly that Sasuke had no chance to react, he could only watch it happen. He watched as Naruto's blade rapidly closed the distance towards Kisame's exposed back as he locked blades with him. A sudden rush of wind and Sasuke fell forward as Kisame's weight shifted backwards, Kisame ducking low and spinning off to the side, avoiding Naruto and leaving Sasuke in the path of Naruto's attack. Sasuke managed to raise his blade to absorb most of the impact but he couldn't stop the blade from slicing into his shoulder.

************

Kiba looked over his shoulder, Sasuke and the silver haired swordsman were talking, he couldn't hear what they were saying, but he could probably have a good guess that they were trash talking. Turning his attention back to his own opponent, Karabe if he recalled correctly, he couldn't help but scrunch up his nose at his smell, there was something off about it, something not quite right and it made his nose hairs tingle. One downside to having an enhanced sense of smell.

"Ready to die kid?" He asked, his voice rough, Kiba had little doubt that most people would find his voice intimidating, but it would take more than that to scare him.

"Save the trash talk cow hide, if your breath stinks half as bad as your trench coat, I'd rather you keep talking to a minimum."

"He-he, smart ass, ain't cha?" Kiba didn't respond, he just stared him down while Akamaru growled threateningly. "Well then, I guess we'll get started then." He stated before suddenly raising his right arm up before swinging at Kiba, launching three shuriken at Kiba and Akamaru.

"Woah!" Kiba yelled as he and Akamaru leapt out of the path of the shuriken. "Where the fuck did they come from!?"

"Don't worry kid, there's lot more where they came from!" Karabe chuckled as he launched wave after wave of triple shuriken at them. Kiba and Akamaru dodged, ducked and leapt out of the wave of each attack but they were being forced back, which favoured Karabe's fighting style, they needed to close the distance.

"...Naruto!" Kiba heard Sasuke yell, he instinctively turned to see what had happened, all he could see was Sasuke standing in front of a cloud of smoke. Momentarily distracted, Karabe took advantage and launched a trio of shuriken at Kiba, Akamaru saw this and tackled him to the floor narrowly dodging the shuriken himself.

"Thanks boy!"

"GRRR!" Akamaru growled before being forced to leap out of the way of another trio of shuriken.

"I know, I know... head in the game!"

"Your mutt saved you there, but how much longer do you think you can hold out?"

"I'm not planning on holding out, I'm planning on KICKING YOUR ASS!!!" Kiba yelled while forming a hand-sign. "Man-Beast Transformation Jutsu!" Akamaru transformed into an exact copy of Kiba and the pair began to sprint towards Karabe.

"Making the mutt look like yourself won't help you!" Karabe yelled as he threw three more waves of shuriken at them. They ducked and weaved their way past the attacks before leaping into the air towards each other, slamming their hands together and using each other to spin in mid-air.

"Fang-over-Fang!" Quickly gaining speed the two became a blur of movement as they hurtled towards Karabe like two miniature tornadoes. Karabe leapt into the air as they smashed into the ground he was standing creating a small crater before shooting off in different directions and ricocheting off the railings at the side of the bridge to propel themselves back towards Karabe who had no way to dodge them as he was still in mid-air.

************

"GHURRH!" Sasuke grunted as he staggered backwards before falling to one knee, clutching his left shoulder as blood poured from the shallow wound there. Naruto stood wide eyed at Sasuke as he tried to work out what had happened, Sasuke knew however, glancing over at Kisame, the silver haired man standing there with a victorious smile on his face.

Naruto remained motionless, his eyes locked onto Sasuke's bloodied shoulder, he was in shock. Sasuke stood up and faced Kisame, the man had pulled off something spectacular, he had moved so quickly and smoothly with such precise timing, it the move of a master swordsman. This man was not to be underestimated. Sasuke now knew how fast this man could move, it rivalled if not exceeded his own, but he would be able to keep one step ahead thanks to his sharingan.

"Nice move." Sasuke praised through gritted teeth, staring into the eyes of his opponent. Kisame simply tilted his head in response. "NARUTO!" He yelled snapping him out of his daze. "I'm fine, focus on our opponent."

"Right!" Naruto turned to face Kisame, focused once again, but this time a little wary of the sliver haired swordsman. Sasuke couldn't blame Naruto but it hadn't been Naruto's fault, the timing had been perfect, Kisame pulled off an incredible counter and it had shaken Naruto. He had somehow shifted his weight so quickly it had caught them both off guard, the rush of air Sasuke felt, he knew it was related, a jutsu of some kind.

"Are you ready? Because now it's my turn!" Kisame smiled.
