Erik woke and threw his legs off his bed, rubbing his temples. He looked about his room, shivering slightly in the cold air. "Damn..." the wolf morph stood up and walked to his window, pushing the curtain back on it. The sprawling city of Denver stretched out before him. He watched for a few moments longer before his phone rang, jogging his attention. He walked over to the metallic, cylindrical case on the nightstand and picked it up, then tapping the button on the side of it. It opened, revealing a spectacular blue display with various readings on it's face. He was glad for something like this; most things of luxury furs weren't allowed to own. He brought down a menu that had an image of a small, folded envelope, with a name next to it. ALLIE. Erik grinned and tapped it, where it opened to a message screen. The message read "Hey! Finally off from finals and allowed some free time. Wanna hang out later?" Erik tapped again on the reply box and typed "Sure! Glad to hear you're free. I'll be over in a bit." The massage sent, and he closed his phone up, and set it back down on the nightstand. "Hmm.." he sighed nodded his head before scratching the back of his neck. Allison, or Allie, as him and people who knew her called her, was a long-time friend of Erik's, and he had last talked to her when she left for an all-anthro college (which were substandard to all-Human ones). He was glad to hear he would finally be able to see her again, after just about 2 years. He stood up, stretched out his rather built frame, and walked towards the bathroom.

He flipped on the shower and waited for the water to warm. He ran his hand under it and pulled it away, slid off his grey boxers, and entered the shower. A few minuets passed and he turned off the water and he stepped out, drying himself off and wrapping the towel around his waist. He picked up the remote that sat next to his TV and pressed the button to turn it on, where it showed a scene from the news station, CNB. The headline read "Anti-Anthro Supporters Protesting Against Recent Changes In Law." The video played a scene shot from a cellphone camera, which Erik watched with intent. "Kill the Freaks!" One yelled before tossing a rock up at a column of riot police up ahead of them. "Damn Humans..." Erik said. His opinion on Humans was always cynical, ever since he learned of the Waterfront Mall Massacre, which happened in 1975. His cynicism was hardend 10-fold after the murder of his parents when he was in the 9th grade. With this, he stood up and walked to his closet, the TV still playing.

Erik had been sitting around a while, as most of the cars in front of him hadn't moved at all. Erik looked over his steering wheel a bit, but only cars for all he could see. He lowered himself again and pulled his phone from his pocket. He pushed the little button again, and the case sprang open once more, showing the display. He glanced up for a second, just as a large, military-grade truck sped up the overpass, and into the cars about 30 feet from his. "The hell..?" Erik shut the phone down, just as six individuals dressed in PMC gear, all human, jumped out the back, all armed with various assault rifles. They suddenly pulled a fox morph from her car, beat her a bit, and executed her on the spot. "Shit!" Erik reached for the small S&W .40 that he had under his jacket and racked the slide. He opened his car door, right as another truck came barreling up the freeway. The wolf morph hid behind his door for a moment, while the other furs and humans ran off, some being shot indiscriminately by the PMCs. He breathed deeply and looked over the door for a second. As soon as he stuck his head out, bullets started pelting the door, sending him back to the floor. The police had arrived now, and the volume of the firefight increased, giving Erik some time to move away. He found a car, one similar to his, and opened the door to it. He got in, and put his keys into the ignition of the car. It worked. He quickly backed up and rammed a car that blocked the exit to the main road, just as three QW-85 helicopters passed overhead, the symbol "AA" in their roundels.

An hour had passed since the freeway incident, and explosions and gunfire could be heard all around the city. Eril parked his car in Allie's driveway and headed up to the door, pistol still drawn. He knocked quickly and looked about, before the door opened, and Erik rushed inside. "The hell's going on out there? Freakin city's a warzone now." She said. Erik looked up at her. "No idea. They hit the freeway, same time I was on it.. they were searching for anthros, and they were real professional about it.." he said, his voice wavering slightly. "Erik? You alright?" The vixen looked him over a bit. "I.. don't really know.. I don't think I've been shot.. not yet, at least.." he said. A sudden tremor shook the house, and a large but short boom wad heard, followed by an air raid siren going off in the distance. "Can we get back to your place?" Allie asked. Erik shrugged. "No idea.. we can try.. don't know how bad things are though.. fuck, I don't even know what the hell's going on.." he said. "Grab what you need. Food, water, ammunition if you have it. If we're gonna leave, we gotta do it now." The vixen nodded and grabbed a travel bag from the guest room closet and started filling it with food and small water bottles. She collected one more thing: a picture of her, Erik, and another friend from a few years back and stuffed it into the bag. "Let's move." Erik said
