#7 of The Adventures of Devlin Mythryll

The dragoness sat down on a red arm chair and started to dig her claws into the arms of the chair. It was obvious that she was mad as hell. Not only had her operation but now the slave that she wanted to keep was gone. This was not how it was suppose to be.

"What the hell happened," she asked herself. "It was all suppose to go so well. We were suppose to kidnap slaves, breed them and sell them for a huge profit. I should be in a mansion full of money!"

She got up and grabbed the arm chair by the sides. She then threw it across the room in an angry rage.

"Instead I am in this blasted ship! I can't go back to my home planet. The Darminian police would just hand me over to the galaxy police," she said, staring at a wall. "Nexus Nine is a no go. So I am stuck here, trying to regain what is left of my power. Oh, who am I kidding? I have no more power. The only power I have is command of Talloon. Talloon, the most useless male in existence."

She then looked around the room. It wasn't a very big room but it was big enough to hold her stereo, bed, sofa, mirror, computer system with a very big monitor and a desk. This was her room in her new 'home.' It was nothing like the room she had on her home planet of Darminia.

She shook her head and went over to the mirror. Her reflection would show a young, silver scaled female. Her blue eyes matched the color of the kimono that she wore. The kimono showed off all of the curves of the female's body. Thick strands of black hair came all the way down to her shoulders.

"Why did I even go with this idea," she asked herself as she pressed her forehead against the mirror.

On a small ship a few miles away, Talloon was wondering the same thing. He hated this job. The only reason he was in it was for the money. Now that things were going bad, he thought about bailing.

"I wonder if the post office will take me back if I sent them my resume," he said. "Hell, I would gladly take back that job than take some more of that dragon's bitching. Anything would be better than the dragon's bitching!"

He slammed his fists down onto the ship's controls and started cursing angrily. He wasn't mad at the dragon, he was mad at himself. He didn't have the backbone to tell her to shut up or even fight back. He was a coward. Correction, he was a well educated coward.

He put his paw into his pocket and took out a picture of his mother holding him as a baby. He looked at the picture then closed his eyes, starting to cry.

"You didn't deserve this mother. You did not deserve to have such a horrible son. If only there was a way to make this all right. If only I-"

He opened his eyes. A plan started to form in his mind. A plan which would be the solution to his problems.

"Yes," he said softly with a smile on his face, "This will be perfect. That wench will get what she properly deserves. I will get the slave back. But I'm also going to bring her downfall."

Talloon put the picture away and picked up a cell phone that was nearby. He pressed a few buttons and waited for someone to pick up. Instead, he got an answering machine.

"The shark man isn't here right now. I'm either catching a wave or doing my job. Leave a message after the beep. Oh, and if this is Shriner, fuck off and have a nice day."

Talloon looked at the phone oddly.

"Pick up the phone Rygar! I know you are at home! It's Talloon!"

"Talloon, long time no see," said a deep voice on the other side of the line. "Still working with the bitch?"

"Yes but we can talk about that later. What would you say if I told you that I know a way to make a million credits easy?"

"I would tell you that you are crazy and it is probably some scam that will get us all killed," Rygar replied. "No way that you can make that much money easily unless you are doing something illegal and I don't want a part in it."

"Look who is talking! You are a hit man! You kill people! Isn't that illegal?"

Rygar didn't reply. Talloon could hear Rygar's soft breathing so he knew that the other was still on the phone.

"I have a plan," Talloon said. "It is going to get us the money and on the path to going straight."

"I'm not gay," Rygar replied.

"You know exactly what I mean. Are you in or not?"

"...I'm in. Not like I have anything else to do. What is the plan?"

Devlin just sat there in awe. His entire kitchen was a mess. Pots were all over the floor. Cans of soda were on the kitchen counter with their contents sprayed all over. Three knives had been thrown into the ceiling. One of them seemed to be missing its handle. The kitchen table had been tipped over, causing two mugs that he had on it to fall to the ground and shatter into thousands of pieces. In the center of the room was a very scared Eros.

Devlin opened his mouth to say something but no sound came out. He was so angry that he couldn't even get the words that he wanted to say from his mind to his mouth.

Eros looked at Devlin and started to whimper.

"Eros is sorry master," she said softly. "Something scared her."

"What scared you?" Devlin asked as he lifted up the kitchen table.

"The thing that buzzes and flies near ears."

"Ok, stop right there," Devlin said trying as hard as he could to avoid beating her to an inch of her life, "One, speak properly. Things have names. I suggest that you get acquainted with the names quickly. Second of all, stop talking about yourself in the third person. I know that is the way you were taught but it is starting to annoy me."

"Ero-I am sorry master," she replied sadly.

Devlin went over to her and gave her a pat on the head. He knew in his heart he couldn't blame her for her failings. It was the fault of the people who trained her. But even he had to wonder if the people who trained her had this much trouble with her.

"Eros, can you describe the thing that scared you?"

Eros shook her head and whimpered.

"No master. I did not see it. I heard it and then I panicked."

"It probably was just a fly. Those things are harmless."

"But don't they have sharp bottoms?"

"Sharp bottoms? Oh, you mean stingers. No. Bees have stingers.'

"Oh."

Eros and Devlin started to clean up the kitchen. For all the damage that she did, it was surprisingly easy to clean it up. What looked like something that would take a day to clean only took an hour. After cleaning up, Devlin plopped down on one of the kitchen chairs and closed his eyes.

"Eros," he said. "Don't be afraid of things that buzz by your ear. Better yet, I should say don't hop around like mad just because something past by your ear."

Eros nods and closes her eyes as well. She was happy that she was forgiven. She thought for sure that she was going to get a severe punishment.

"Thank you master," she said softly.

Silver gave a yawn as he sat down on his couch to watch some television. He didn't know what else to do. He was bored.

"Maybe I should call Devlin and ask him if he wants to do anything."

He reached over to grab the phone. As he was about to touch it, the phone began to ring. Hoping that maybe it was Devlin, he picked up the phone.

"Hello?"

"Hello Sil," said the voice on the other side of the line.

"Trevor! How are you, mi amigo?"

"Not bad. How about you?"

"Bored out of my mind."

"You are bored? How could you be bored? It is a beautiful day outside. Go out and have some fun."

Silver looked out his window. He could see that it was a very beautiful day and he could use some exercise. Yet, he didn't have the energy or will to go outside.

"You sound like my mom," Silver replied. "Don't you have something to do? Something like...say...work?"

"I would but I have the day off today," Trevor said.

"Pizza places give days off?"

"Well, I have been working there for a long time. Three years in fact. And I never missed a day of work."

"I thought you said that you were only there two years."

"Two years. Three years. It all blends together after a while. I swear that work can be murder sometimes. Anyway, I wanted to ask you something. You wouldn't happen to know any blue felines would you?"

Silver froze up. He looked around as if trying to find something he could use as an excuse to hang up the phone. He did not want to answer truthfully then end up having to be involved in something that could be illegal or get him killed.

"Silver?"

Silver knew he had to answer fast before his friend got suspicious.

"Hold on," Silver said. "I will be right back."

He put the phone down and walked over to the kitchen where he started pacing back and forth. He could hear himself grinding his own teeth in pure panic. What was he going to do?

"Just relax Silver," he said to himself. "You are blowing this out of proportion. Just go back over to the phone, pick it up and say yes. Chances are that you have nothing to worry about."

He went back to the couch and picked up the phone.

"I'm back," Silver said. "I'm sorry I had to leave you like that but there was something wrong with the fridge."

There was a moment of silence.

"Is it going on and off at random times?"

Silver jumped at the opportunity.

"Yeah," the crow replied. "I don't know why it is doing that."

"Neither do I. It is pissing me off to no end. I really need to get that fixed."

"That would be a good idea."

"Oh, would you look at the time. I have to go out and meet someone. I will talk to you later."

"Ok, see ya."

Silver hung up the phone and raised his fist into the air in a celebratory fashion. He had dodged the bullet. At least he had for now.
