Final Strike
In 109m balance shifted in America and the struggle for morph freedom was set back once more. Rights were stripped and slave owners resumed forced breeding. On November 11, 111m, a brutal virus was released during a World Morph Rights rally in Harstlein that killed over three thousand morphs in four days. The American president claimed responsibility and insisted the virus would eliminate all morphs once and for all by 112m with no loss of human life, believing this would ensure his second term. By February of 112m, the virus had jumped not only continents, but species and claimed the lives of over seven million morphs and humans and countless animals.
The Mourning Virus took less than twenty four hours from exposure to kill and was airborne. It was hard to diagnose because for the first twelve hours or so, the only symptom was a growing sadness or depression. The second stage was marked by endless crying and watery eyes for up to four hours and from this point on, they were contagious. The third and final stage began with coughing that led to vomiting and their eyes began to bleed; organs failed one by one and the victim would expirate and vomit blood, hopefully dying quickly, though the final stage had been known to last up to eight hours.
