#15 of Iron Dragon

Jenny was feeling a little better having some artifacts to analyze. Maybe it was silly of her to think he had never done anything wrong. After all those that could have spoken out against him were long dead. And he had never laid a finger on them or do anything to cause them harm. She hoped Katie was not being too much of a pest.

Katie thought being able to tour an ancient castle with someone who had spent time living in it was the greatest thing ever. With his observations it shed a great deal of light on how society acted so long ago. It was almost like being there since he had little interaction, only standing by watching.

She was not the only one fascinated by his recounts of events that took place. A great deal of the field team found the un imagined insight into history interesting. Frank and Cindy were as interested as Katie. He recounted the tyrants and the benevolent rulers that he had dealt with for roughly one hundred and fifth teen years.

It allowed Mary to make some rather detailed drawings of what the rooms might have looked like when he had lived here. Jenny glanced over her shoulder as Mary drew. It showed a king standing at his throne a up held sword in his hand. His knights knelt before him and the iron dragon standing off to the far side. His expression neutral or maybe a bit depressed.

"It would be nice if all history could be recounted like this." Mary said in a low voice so not to interrupt him.

"Even the bad?" Jenny asked in the same hushed tone.

"So we do not repeat their mistakes." Mary said.

"Good point." Jenny looked from the drawing up to Nodrog. It was one of the few times she had heard him talk for so long. He was quite articulate and could make a captivating speaker. And not just from his good looks. Jenny thought of him as she did of Alice, they had no flaws and she truly loved everything about them both. The way they spoke the way they thought, everything. And she thought both of them were incredibly good looking.

Frank called it another short day so if they wanted to they could watch the televised race. He also wanted to know how Alice's first day went, and he figured most if not all of Kathrin's crew would want to. So he joined them in their RV and they turned on the flat screen TV to watch the race an hour or two after it had all ready finished.

They all cheered as a camera followed a reporter over to her at the start line for a quick interview. While mostly highlights covering three different classes Alice and Wes both got a fair amount of coverage since they had done so well the first stage of the event. As they interviewed more drivers the scroll at the bottom of the screen stated Alice had finished the stage in second place on track and time. Wes had gotten up to fourth on track and third in time having only passed one car. It put Wes third overall and Alice was currently sitting ninth overall. They had started the slowest class first with the third fastest class last. The next day they would set out the fastest cars on the first stage as the other three classes ran the second stage.

"Would have been a blast if we could have gone." Jenny said as the recorded program ended.

"That would have been nice. Still we haven't done much work for a while now." Frank said as he got up.

"Yeah I was getting a little antsy with nothing to do." Mary said.

"Don't stay up too late celebrating her second place tonight. We have more work to do. Good night." Frank said and left.

"Might be bad luck if we celebrated the first day of such a long event. I do want to thank you for taking so much time to talk about life in the castle. It was very insightful and interesting." Katie said as someone clicked the TV off.

"I agree with Katie whole heartedly, a very different view about history was refreshing. Not the same thing you get from just reading text and letters." Mary said.

"So having lived in different centuries, is there an era you liked more?" Cindy asked.

The question took him by surprise and they all seemed interested in his answer. Except for Sherman, he seemed to all ready know the answer. "This one."

"Why is that?" Katie asked.

"Because in this one, you is free. Am I right? " Sherman asked with a smile.

"You are correct. Also I am no longer confined to a single action or purpose." Nodrog said.

"So then how long are you going to mooch off of Alice and Jenny?" Mary teased.

Nodrog laughed. "Who said I was mooching off of them? I have been getting paid almost the whole time I have been living with them."

Jenny laughed at their astonishment. "Besides he doesn't eat much and helps do things around the apartment."

"Wish my husband would do more around the house." Katie said and they tried not to laugh.

Nodrog stayed in the RV most of the night. The rest of them went to bed and he was left to his thoughts once more. However the madness was losing its voice it was little more than a whisper. He would have to find something to replace the blood from the butcher, it did its job keeping that hunger controllable. Still refrigerated animal blood could only do so much and he would have to find something living to feed from.

That was the down side of this modern age, kind of hard to just drain someone dry of their blood and not get into trouble. In the past it was easy, any prisoner would do and no one would raise much fuss. Somehow he doubted that would be the case today. It was a difficult thing to explain to non vampires or non flesh eating monsters. So few understood what those that lived off the living go through when they go hungry...

"Anyone seen where he took off to this time?" Sherman asked repeatedly throughout camp.

"For near half a ton of iron he sure is quiet and leaves few tracks." Cindy said as she met Sherman on the edge of camp.

"With all of the magic and weird things he can do, he could be half way around the world in the blink of an eye." Sherman said.

"So what was teleporting like?" Cindy asked as they stood on the edge of camp.

"I threw up. Wouldn't that be enough information?" Sherman asked.

"No cause the first time you asked me if I could fly I made you barf." Cindy said with a smile.

"Imagine feeling like every part of you is being pulled apart at once, then just as quickly hammered back together." Sherman said.

"That bad?" Cindy asked.

"No, a million times worse. I would never want to do it again." Sherman said.

"Its not that bad." Nodrog now stood behind them causing both to jump and pull their weapons. He managed to conceal his absolute pleasure in scaring them both so easily.

"Don't ever do that again you asshole!" Cindy yelled as she panted and having nearly pulled the trigger till the magazine was empty.

"Good thing you're bullet proof cause you just about got it from the both of us." Sherman said as he caught his breath.

"Doubtful." Nodrog held out his hands, their pistols laying in them. It was hard to tell on Sherman but Cindy turned nearly as white as a ghost. He almost felt bad, if it wasn't so amusing. He chuckled as they took their weapons back and holstered them.

"I think I need to go lay down after that. That wasn't nice or funny." Cindy managed to get to the RV without anyone noticing the trained soldier had wet herself. She was embarrassed and upset. "Asshole."

"That wasn't very amusing." Sherman said having calmed down. He would punch him, except he knew something was different. "Where did you go?"

"To get a bite to eat." Nodrog said with a slightly disturbing chuckle. "I didn't expect the two of you to have been that frightened."

"I quote Shakespeare and you sneak around like a little child. I never would have thought you to be childish." Sherman said.

"I will apologize to Cindy." Nodrog said and walked to the RV.

"Wait!" Sherman said and Nodrog turned to look at him.

"What's up?" Nodrog asked.

"Let me talk to her first." Sherman said and walked up to him. "Besides Jenny was looking for you."

"Okay, where can I find her?" Nodrog asked.

"In her mobile lab." Sherman said as they walked.

Sherman headed off to talk with Cindy as Nodrog headed out to find Jenny. Sherman knew fully what he had meant by 'bite' having seen Nodrog eat down in the Bone Jungle.

"Oh there you are. I had wondered where you had gone off too." Jenny said as he walked into the trailer.

"Just had something to take care of." Nodrog said.

Jenny turned her chair and looked up at him. "Blood?"

Nodrog just nodded.

"I told you, you can have some of mine." Jenny turned back to her computer.

"And I have told you why that is a bad idea." Nodrog said.

"Because you don't trust yourself..." Jenny said quietly.

"Exactly, it is hard to explain. So just let it go." Nodrog said.

"Then what do we taste like?" Jenny now turned back to him.

"If you have ever sucked on a small cut then you all ready know that." Nodrog said a bit frustrated.

"Then I taste bad." Jenny said.

"That's because you are not supposed to like it." Nodrog put a hand on her head musing her hair.

"What kind of reason is that?" Jenny asked.

"All right, think of a food you don't like and Alice does. Same thing applies to blood." Nodrog said with a smile.

"Is it really that easy? Does that mean Alice tastes bad since you don't have any problem not eating her." Jenny said.

Nodrog forced a smile. "You might say that. Just don't tell her."

"I won't cause she tastes good to me." Jenny said with a smile.

Nodrog laughed with her. The truth was more painful than either Jenny or Alice could most likely bear. For now they shouldn't have to worry about the future. Besides he could be wrong...

In the morning, the four of them road in the van back out to the staging area. The race was held on rarely traveled two lanes since there were so few people and the highway system was so much faster. The twins along with Jim and Tim were stuck staying with the chase trucks. The twins all ready heading down the road as Tim and Jim prepped the cars.

"How you feelin today Alice?" Wes asked.

"Like I am gonna kick some butt." Alice said.

"This stage is the short one correct?" Kenny asked.

"Yes, this is the shortest and tomorrow we will run the longest." Natasha said.

"We have a couple of towns we pass through, remember to watch your speed." Wes said.

"Yeah, big time penalty if we don't." Kenny said.

Alice and Natasha thanked the van driver for the ride as they all got out. Jim and Tim were all ready done checking the cars out and had all ready filled them up.

"You're ready to go. We'll put new tires on tomorrow for the long stage, probably save these for the other short stage." Tim said.

"Sleep well?" Kenny asked.

"Like a log." Jim said with a smile.

"Next time I am sleeping with the twins, at least they don't snore." Tim said.

Alice and Kenny reached in and grabbed their helmets. "See you two at the finish line."

"Promise?" Wes asked with a smile. He and Natasha stood by as Alice and Kenny got in the Lotus and prepared for their start.

"Radio check. You out of bed yet Joe?" Alice asked. Jim gave her a thumbs up letting them know he could hear them.

"Very funny. We copy you here." Big Joe said and turned off his mic.

"We hear everyone out here." TJ said as DJ drove down the road.

"Lets get going." Kenny said and the little engine rumbled to life.

Alice followed the directions to the starting line and left the engine running to get it up to operating temp. They got the other class off to a quicker start this morning. They had less of a wait to start this and all stages from now on. Alice tightened her grip on the wheel, stretching her gloves they groaned in protest and she blipped the throttle. After pulling up she revved the engine again, she loved the sound. And it served the purpose of psyching out the driver of the car in front of her as he got a poor start.

"Behave yourself." Kenny said with a smirk.

"I don't want too." Alice said and revved the engine again.

"What am I going to do with you?" Kenny said.

"Love me forever like you promised and hang on for dear life." Alice simultaneously revved the engine and side stepped the clutch pedal as the light began to turn green. They left the line in a howl of screeching tires and roaring engine.

"Told you. Ten bucks." Jim held out his hand.

"Now you know why they didn't put new tires on Alice's car." Wes said with a chuckle.

"I like her style. Maybe next time we will have to do a girls vs. boys." Natasha teased.

"How would you talk Alice into driving a different car?" Tim asked.

"To beat a bunch of boys, it wouldn't be that hard. Besides if you knew what we did last night you would have a hard time driving." Natasha said with a wink. She laughed on the inside. Silly boys, nothing happened but just hinting at it turned them to mush. She would have to tell Alice about it this evening once they were back at the hotel. "Close your mouth and lets get ready."

Wes did and they finished getting suited up. However he had another problem as they got belted in the car. Because his mind instantly pictured the two of them laying in each others arms naked. He mentally punched himself to get focused on the race. While Natasha could be naughty, Alice was still mostly innocent in his mind.

"That wasn't very nice of her, Jim." Tim said.

"Especially since I am old enough to be their dad. Lets get going." Jim grumbled.

Alice's heart sang with glee as they caught up to the first place car. The next town she would be on his bumper and after that, open road to blow past him. The engine sang as Alice downshifted and got a touch sideways from some loose gravel on the road.

"two hundred to town." Kenny said as they gained ground on the car in front of them.

Alice smiled as they sat just a few feet off the other car's bumper. They knew the car ahead had a higher top speed so they needed to get as much time ahead now because of some more open courses later on. Alice could pull the tighter sections faster, it was with that in mind why they lowered the car's gearing a few teeth. Just enough to get the power down sooner and pull harder.

"How do things look?" Ron asked as they monitored the race progress.

"Everything looks good. She seems to be braking a little late for some areas." Little Joe said.

"She's driving a little aggressive for only the second stage." Big Joe wondered why.

"Only because someone is in front of her." Ron said with a smile.

"Not for long." Little Joe said as the throttle sensor went to 100%.

Joe and Ron both smiled as the little red car zigzagged around first place and quickly pulled ahead. After a few minutes Alice adjusted her pace from all out to quick.

"That's better. Has she always been this competitive?" Little Joe could tell form the telemetry that Alice knew how to drive fast without punishing the car.

"Since day one. Alice hates losing." Ron said with a smile and a shrug.

"To bad I can't get her to switch to racing full time. She is so damn good at it." Big Joe had plans, big plans.

"Wes is damn good." Little Joe said.

"Wes is damn good, but unlike Alice he isn't being held back." Big Joe countered.

"Good luck getting her to switch to a different car. Aside from Jenny that little Lotus is her favorite thing in the world." Ron said.

"I know, but I am still going to try. Seems that the viper involved in the chase ended up in my care." Joe said with a sly smile and leaned back in his chair.

"Soon as we get back, that's the twins next project. I all ready have a prototype control unit for it. Same as in the Lotus." Little Joe said.

"I am guessing your wife all ready painted it Alice's favorite color." Ron could see where this was going.

Both Joes smiled and laughed. "Same shade in fact."

"Its sneaky enough it just might work." Ron said as Alice crossed the half way point. She was doing well, she always settled down after getting clear track in front of her. Starting first on the long stage would have her relaxed a little more. It also made it harder for those behind because they would be trying to keep up with or out run the pace she set for the stage.

Back in the city at Joe's shop Katie was working late on the Viper with some of their staff. The engine, transmission and rear end sitting under covers waiting for the twins.

"Little bit of irony in giving a snake to a mouse don't you think." One of them said.

"The mouse has always had a bite in a car without fangs. More than double the displacement and double the horse power and torque. There will be few that the little mouse couldn't hunt down." Katie said after they finished bolting the last of the repaired and reworked body back on the car. A single black racing stripe slightly off set to the passenger's side and other semi gloss black accents and wheels added a menacing touch to the beautiful candy red.

"Soon as the twins rework the engine and drive line this won't even be the same car." Another said.

"Then we will see who the better driver is, Wes or Alice." Katie said with an evil grin as the heavy thunk of the lights being turned off echoed in the background. Katie took one last look as the car sat in the glow of the little light coming in from the windows. Even minus its heart and soul the car looked menacing. She had sent the twins all the specifications they wanted in an e-mail. They wanted to start making a plan and have her order parts so they could get started the day after they got back.

"We finally got that e-mail from Katie." TJ said as the two sat in the truck in just their panties and tank tops. Alice and Wes had crushed the competition this stage. They were ready for bed and had cleaned up after supper.

"About time, lets see what we got to work with." DJ and TJ poured over every detail Katie had sent them.

"We can do better than that. Wonder what half assed amateur put that thing together." TJ said.

"They did forget a few important things and mismatched parts. Just need to redo the upper end." DJ said with a smile and opened another window to start their list.

"Better go with a triple disk clutch and upgrade the hydraulics on it. Keep the pedal pressure down. Little Joe all ready has a prototype controller for it. The hard part will be getting the traction control system to work with the aggressive limited slip in the differentials." TJ said.

"She sent us a picture of the finished body work." DJ's smile grew.

"We will have to work extra hard to match the performance with the looks." TJ and her sister grinned like cats.

"It will be our finest work to date." They both giggled, and managed to get to sleep in a reasonable amount of time despite the urge to continue making plans for the wonderful shell Katie had made for them.

While the twins dreamed of building Alice a truly menacing road car, Nodrog was dealing with madness. He drove a fist through a tree, he had apologized to Cindy and stayed in the RV until they had fallen asleep. He tore the tree apart in anger and frustration, Jenny willingly offered her blood to him, generally not a problem. This was a little different since he had tasted her granted in an intimate way. The problem was she was one of the few with a rather distinctive blood type.

Any number of things could be used as an analogy, exquisite like a fine wine or addictive like a drug. Where Jenny's blood was like an excellent and finely crafted wine, Alice's was a stark opposite. Dirty pool water might come to mind, such a wonderful and beautiful person in body and soul, cursed with foul and diseased blood. He didn't know what enraged him more be offered blood or that Alice had such poor blood.

Nodrog was caught off balance as Sherman caught his fist. "Something troubling you?" Sherman held Nodrog's fist firmly.

"A few, one of them being how I never sensed your presence." Nodrog made a sweeping kick that Sherman easily back flipped over and away from.

"You can talk to me about it. It must be serious if you can't concentrate." Sherman blocked a punch and jabbed the dragon in the ribs. Sherman dodged everything with ease and landed everyone of his strikes. Something was very off they were nearly equal last time. This was more like beating up a drunk that couldn't be hurt. Eventually Nodrog stopped and took a deep breath.

"You ready to talk? You aren't yourself." Sherman sat down on a stump.

"You wouldn't understand." Nodrog spoke through clenched teeth.

"Try me. Got all the time in the world." Sherman said.

Nodrog sighed heavily and sat down on a fallen tree. "How is your anatomy?"

"Probably a little rusty." He was a bit curious where this was going to lead. He had gotten up early and found Nodrog by the noise coming from the tree slaying. It would probably be another hour or two before anyone else woke up. He was worried about Nodrog and hoped to gain a little insight.

Sherman listened intently. He was not sure if he could help in anyway, but in talking about it, Nodrog might find his own answer. Somehow the problems he faced seemed insignificant to those of his friend. It was the first time he had seen or heard anything like fear from Nodrog.

Jenny and Cindy cooked them breakfast after they got up. No one had heard either Nodrog or Sherman leave. Which they found a bit odd given how big the two of them were. The four women finished getting ready and headed out to work.

"Where are the other two?" Frank asked as they all met in the center of camp.

Cindy spoke up first. "They were all ready gone when we woke up. Something might have came up that needed their attention."

"All right, its not like either of them are much for science. Here is the plan for today..." Frank lined out the assigned duties to everyone.

Cindy was glad to be helping Jenny, as much as she could. It was the first time she had seen Jenny actually sit down and get any work done. Usually she teased Alice and goofed off, but today she even taught her how to use some of the equipment.

"What's so funny?" Jenny asked as she typed away.

"Aren't you usually the one that goofs off?" Cindy asked as they waited for something in the spectrometer to be read.

"I only goof around cause it bugs Alice. Since she is out racing, I have to make sure I do a good job while she is gone. So she doesn't have to worry about taking time off to go race." Jenny turned partly to look up at Cindy.

"She is lucky girl to have someone like you." Cindy said with a smile.

"I think it's the other way, I would never have gotten this far without her." Jenny blushed.

"That's why you make a perfect pair, you both think so much of the other one." They both turned as something beeped.

Jenny clicked a few things with the mouse and brought up the results. Cindy tried to make sense of the words on the screen. "What's it mean?"

"It is just a plain ol object. Frank has been having me test damn near anything to find something that's different." Jenny slumped back in the chair.

"I've heard Frank and Kathrin have been looking frantically for something to explain how he has lived so long. Maybe they are looking for a fountain of youth." Cindy said.

"I don't know what they are looking for. Some people have a harder time believing in magic. You would think after the time he has been with us, all they have seen, they would just accept it." Jenny clicked print.

"Does that mean you have given up looking yourself?" Frank said as he closed the door behind him.

"Maybe I all ready know the answer." Jenny handed him the printed page. "All the computer power in the world is not going to find it."

"And what do you think the answer is?" Frank asked as he glanced over the sheet.

"Magic." Jenny said.

"That's kids stuff, aren't you a little old to believe in it." Frank said.

"You're never too old. Come on Frank you have seen it with your own eyes. The teleporting, he breaths fire for Christ's sake." Cindy pleaded.

"That makes us want to know even more. So keep looking." Frank said and left.

"That was odd, Frank usually isn't like that." Cindy said.

Jenny was a bit worried, everyone was acting kind of strange and she didn't like it at all. 'I miss you Alice.' Jenny said to herself. She looked out the small window, she wanted someone to hold her, where was he?

"Screw it, come on." Cindy pulled Jenny up out of the chair by her arm.

"Where are we going?" Jenny nearly tripped as they stepped outside of the trailer.

"To go look for those two." Cindy said.

"Do you know where to begin looking?" Jenny glad Cindy finally let go of her arm.

"Nope." Cindy said with a smile and the two of them walked off towards the woods.

Jenny smiled, if nothing else at least they would get out of the camp for a little while. She was glad at least Cindy understood her frustration about some of the things that were going on.

They never found Sherman or Nodrog but they had a nice walk in the hour they spent looking. They sort of made a long loop and headed back for camp. The boys hadn't shown up in the mean time either. They ate a quiet lunch in the RV with Mary and Katie. Come night fall the two of them had grown a little worried. Since Nodrog and Sherman never missed a meal. And as far as they knew, they had missed all three.

"It is really getting late where could they have gone?" Katie said as she looked out one of the windows.

"They even missed the race broadcast." Cindy said.

"All they missed of that was Alice blowing the competition out of the water. Not much excitement there." Mary said and laughed.

"True after taking first, there wasn't much to see." Jenny and the other three ladies jumped as the door to the RV opened.

"You two! Where the hell have you been?" Cindy asked in a loud voice.

Sherman and Nodrog looked at her and chuckled. "The woods for some meditation." Sherman said.

"Meditation?" Mary asked.

"Its helps keep the mind and body sharp and focused." Cindy caught the subtle gesture Sherman made to her.

"I didn't know you were into that stuff, Sherman" Jenny said.

"Have been for a while, guess I never talk about it much." Sherman said.

"Left over's in the fridge if you boys want it. I'm going to bed." Katie said. The rest of them got around and went to bed as well. Nodrog and Sherman both ate something light and Sherman went to bed with Cindy shortly after.

"All right spill it." Cindy said softly as he crawled into the small bed with her.

"I was teaching him to meditate. You've seen enough vampire movies so you would understand if I told you it was about that kind of hunger." Sherman said quietly.

"But he has blood he can drink." Cindy said.

"And it helps for the most part, that's not the problem." Sherman said.

"What's the problem then?" Cindy asked as they lay together.

"Jenny actually offers him her own. As odd as it is to say or hear it, he says she is one of the rare people with the kind of blood vampires really like." Sherman said and put his arms around her.

"She must really trust him." Cindy said.

"She trusts him more then he trusts himself." Sherman said.

"So the meditation is to help him fight the hunger?" Cindy asked.

"And the temptation." Sherman said.

"Then what about Alice? He has had some of her blood." Cindy said and looked in his eyes.

"He wouldn't say." Sherman hoped she wouldn't press him for any more. He promised he wouldn't say anything, and it was hard enough to know the truth.

"Oh, maybe Alice tastes funny." Cindy said with a giggle at the thought.

"Maybe. You however taste pretty good." Sherman slid his hand along her side and cupped her firm butt pulling her closer to him.

"Late night snack?" Cindy asked as she ran a hand down his firm abs and into his shorts.

"Something like that." Sherman kissed her as she wrapped her fingers around his hardening shaft.

Cindy pulled off her top and panties in the somewhat confined space they had. She moaned as he licked the inside of her thigh as she lay on top of him. She wiggled her butt in his face as she unzipped his shorts. His rough tongue working its wonderful magic on her as she ran her own tongue along his length. It was a little awkward with everyone so close to them.

Thankfully the other's body muffled their moans as they went down on each other. Cindy moaned on him as he brought her to orgasm, his tongue felt incredible. So did his soft fur against her naked body. Even in the cooler part of the RV he was always so warm. She moaned and shivered as he ever so lightly ran a single claw along her side and across her rump. She didn't know why but it always drove her wild.

Sherman grinned at her reaction and did the same thing with his other hand. He quickly sucked in a breath as she sucked all of him but the knot into her mouth. He kissed her inner thigh once more before she turned around, not even enough room to sit up straight on top of him. The both giggled as the confined space made getting him inside of her a little on the hard side. Cindy moaned as she got him inside of her, even this part of him was so much warmer than her. She leaned down and kissed him. "That's better."

They both smiled as they made love well into the early morning.
