A special chapter taking place in the Rising Downfall story.

Ever since my good friend, Nixon, had left this world, it was my responsibility to look after his son, Guil. Now, if he was still alive, he would still me how disappointed he was and I would be too afraid to face him. I can't believe I let this happen...to be distracted like that. It's so degrading how I could fell for that and they took the kid from under my snout. I'm going to find whoever kidnapped him and I'm going to make them pay.

Guil and I were just relaxing one evening enjoying the sunset. I must say, he's improved a lot ever since his parents died. Although, I doubt he will ever get over it. Losing your parents at a young age is enough to scar any child for life. Sadly, I couldn't really think of anything to say to really make him feel better because I do not share the pain. My parents are still alive. Old, but they were still alive. If I hadn't taken my eyes off of him to inspect a sound, I would've asked him to live with me. It would be a start to make up for my rash behavior at Nixon before he was alive. I jumped to a bit of a conclusion that Nixon was going soft in his age because he had children, but Guil had shown me otherwise that the decisions that Nixon made were the right ones. The little rumble between the three of us is still, pretty much, a secret. I'd be the laughing stock of the entire kingdom if anybody were to find out that I had gotten my rump kicked by a mere runt. I still owe him a rematch to this day.

We were watching the sun go down when we heard some noise not too far from us. I told Guil to wait for a minute while I checked it out. I got up and walked away to the site of the noise. I leaned down and saw something burned in the grass. It did indeed look like someone had set off some fireworks, but for what purpose? Then, it hit me: Guil! I turned and ran back to where Guil was... Just as I thought: He was gone. I looked around in a panic, shouting his name. Sadly, there was no response. I really screwed up this time. I slammed my fist to the ground, causing the Earth to shake and leaving a small crack in the surface.

As soon as I saw the chance, I flew back to Hawktown and headed straight to the King's Palace. There His Majesty was just coming back from taking his last stroll around town for the day. He was about to open the door into his home when I interrupted him.

"King Berin," I said to him, landing in front of him.

"Hmm? Grazar?" he said, a little bit taken back to see me. "You look troubled. What ails you?"

"Guil is missing! I fear he may be kidnapped! We must send a search party out to search for him while the sun is still up!"

"Alright, take it easy, Grazar. Before I do anything, just slow down and tell me what happened."

I began to grow a little impatient and I almost snapped at him.

"I told you what happened: Guil's gone and I fear he may have been kidnapped!"

He folded his arms and looked at me sternly.

"Are you sure he couldn't have just wandered off? I mean, he's still only a little child and curiosity does get the best out of them. I remember when I was his age I was skipping along through some--"

I rolled my eyes and snorted.

"Um, with all due respect, King, but Guil is smart enough to not go off on his own at his age, especially when it's almost dark. We were looking at the sunset and an explosion went off. I went to see what it was and when I turned around, he was gone. He vanished without a trace and I fear the worse has yet to come! We must look for him...like, right NOW!"

I saw him rub his soon-to-be beard. He does this when he's thinking of a strategy or when he can't stop scratching his chin. He gave me a serious look and nodded.

"Alright, Grazar. I'll take your word for it that Guil has been kidnapped. I will round up a search party and we'll meet at the village gates."

"Thank you, King Berin." And with that, I turned and walked away, looking down in distraught. It's my fault that Guil's gone and I have to find him.

"Hey, Grazar!" I heard someone shout to me. I looked to my left and saw a little girl waving at me. I squinted a little bit and that's when I recognized her: It was Guil's sister, Galena. I do believe she was a couple of years older than him. Well, Guil is the youngest out of the four kids that Nixon and Melody had.

"What is it, Galena?" I asked him, trying to hide my worried posture with one of complete dominance.

"Where's Guil? It's almost dinner time. I thought he'd be with you."

Why did she have to mention his name? I looked away in shame and I muttered: "He's missing."

Galena gasped. "He's what?!" The next thing I knew, she ran back in the house, screaming something and then she came right back out.

"What in the world was that about, child?" I asked her. Suddenly, two more beings came rushing out of the house. I blinked when I realized who they were: Varin and Gull, Guil's two older brothers with Gull being the first born. "Um, what's going on here?"

"What do you think, dude?" Varin said to me what sounded like a mocking tone. "We're going to help you find our baby brother!"

"Absolutely not!" I growled at them. "You kids will remain here where it is safe. This is my duty and mine alone. I will not risk any more runts during this search."

"Who are you calling a runt, scale lips?!" Varin shouted at me and it looked like he was about to charge at me, but Galena had stopped him.

"Whoa, calm down, Varin," Galena said to him.

"No way! I'm not standing here and taking that! Lemme at him! I'll show him who a runt is!"

I just shook my head and went on ahead for I didn't have time to deal with this.

"Grazar," this time Gull said something to me and it made me stop but I didn't look back at them. "We care about Guil just as much as you do. We're also responsible for him for we're older and he still has a lot to learn about the world. So, don't think you can shrug us off that easily. We're coming with you to help out, whether you want us to or not."

I turned around and looked at Gull. He had such determination in his eyes and his words reminded me so much of his little brother and father. Nixon and Melody raised their children well. I turned back to the gate and sighed.

"Alright then," I said to them. "You talked me into it. Let's go then."

The search commenced once we left the village. We searched high and low, from the training grounds, scanning every nook and cranny of the forest in the east to scaling the mountains that laid far to the west. We continued to come up with zero results. Damn it, this is getting us nowhere. Where could Guil be? Where was he taken? The Hawk Warriors were dispatched to search many villages that were neighboring Hawktown. We even search places that were near The Masked Eagles' territory. No dice. I was not happy with these results. I was becoming more aggressive and more impatient within' each passing minute. I don't even remember the last time I slept. It's been a while. I don't remember specifically how long it's been since I've gotten any shut-eye.

Whoever these kidnappers are, they were very good at covering up their tracks. Even the Hawk Warriors' top canines couldn't get a scent because there were no tracks or evidence nearby for them to sniff out. The search went on for about a somewhat good 3 years until it was called off by King Berin. We had to accept the fact that... Guil was probably dead. I couldn't accept that. There's no way that little runt would be killed. He's strong and smart...not bad for his age.

I don't even remember the last time I was this depressed. We searched high and low for him and nothing came up. His Majesty saw how frantic I have become and told me to just let it go. I just couldn't...not after he and I actually became friends and because I promised Nixon I would look after his kids, especially Guil.

I sighed as I decided to leave Hawktown for a little bit. I left the gates and took off to the skies. I could only remember flying this high with Nixon. This brought back a lot of memories. I knew his father and his grandfather. They were the only ones that could keep up with me when it comes to flying. Even though Guil's small body and wings could only get him so far, he was able to fly this high with me. The apple didn't fall too far from the tree, eh Nixon? You sure do have a very interesting family and family history.

I flew for about 10 minutes before reaching another village. This is where I was born and grew up, where I knew Nixon's mother and father and grandparents. This village was called Baron Village. I took a deep breath to take in the smell that I missed so much. Ah, it's good to be home. As I walked around town I saw some familiar faces and I waved at some of them. My destination was a den at the other side of the village. I slowly approached it and softly walked in, careful not to make any sounds. What I was planning is a surprise. I walked deeper into the den and saw two large dragons sleeping next to each other. Of course, they were a bit bigger than me but I went ahead and knocked on the den walls to wake them up. They rose their heads and looked over at me and they gasped.

"I'm... I'm home," I said softly to them. They quickly got up and stared at me. The darkness that was in the cave was camouflaging their black scales (like mine), making them practically invisible but I could see them just fine. One of them ran up to me and hugged me close.

"Oh Grazar, it's been a while since you last visited us," the dragon spoke in a sweet tone. I always loved the sound of her voice as I hugged her back.

"I know," I replied to her. "I missed you, mother."

"I'm so happy that you came for a visit. We missed you so much as well."

The other black dragon approached me and he gave a faint smile.

"Welcome home, my son," he said to me.

"It's good to be home, father."

My parents, Conan and Maria Zinzu, are the most respected, and fear, dragons in the village. They practically run the place. I have full respect for them. If it wasn't for my parents' guidance, I wouldn't be the dragon I am today. They're the one who started The Order, a rebellion against humans. The same one I fought with Nixon over and almost killed him. We were all together when the Order was made. Nixon, his brother, father, and grandfather were a part of it. The purpose of it was to show the humans that they do not rule our planet and to remind them that it still belonged to us and we were only sharing it with them. We felt that they were only trying to take it for themselves and to kill us off one by one. If push came to shove, we would kill off the humans before they would have the chance to kill them. But...the Order was slowly diminishing. Nixon's grandfather passed away from old age, his father had disappeared and was presumed dead and so did his brother, and Nixon is... Well, you know.

My mother and father couldn't run the order anymore with it being just the three of us, so we abandoned the whole plan. I don't think they even know that Nixon found a mate and had children, but they did receive word that he was murdered. This brought them down very much, just like I was. We decided to talk more about stuff during lunch. For lunch we would always have some cow with some fish on the side. Also, they had cow milk for me to drink up. I have my own tastes for what I like to drink with my dead meals.

Strangely, I wasn't really hungry. I was too depressed to even chow down like how I used to long ago before I moved out on my own. My parents were noticing this and they both nudged me.

"Are you okay, my dear?" my mother asked me.

I didn't say anything.

"You're still sad about Nixon, aren't you?" my father said.

I looked at him and decided to lie, so I nodded.

"Aye, I know what it's like to lose your best friend. Do not worry, my son. Nixon is still with you, in your heart. Remember that."

"Thank you, father," I finally said as I went back to eating.

After consuming all of my favorite meals, I retreated back to my old room. It wasn't much of a room, really. There was only a large stack of hay that I once used as a bed. I climbed up on it, curled up, and closed my eyes. Maybe if I was home I could perhaps sleep peacefully. It didn't really take long for me to pass out. I guess I really needed some shut-eye.

During the middle of the night, some conversations outside the den woke me up. I growled and got up and went outside to see who was making all that noise. I looked to my left and saw two humans whispering to each other. I stomped over to them and snarled at them, which made them scream.

"Do you idiots have any idea what time it is?" I snapped at them. "We dragons like to get our beauty sleep and if we were woken up, there are dire consequences!"

"W-We're sorry!" one of the humans whined out. "We were only talking about what happened to this fortress in The Forbidden Village."

I blinked and cocked my eyebrow at them.

"The Forbidden Village? A fortress? What are you babbling about? Speak, human!"

"Okay okay! Just don't kill us, please!" He cleared his throat. "We heard through the grape vine that someone managed to escape The Masked Eagles' prison fortress. Nobody has ever been able to break out of there."

"When did this happen?"

"We only heard about this yesterday. There were explosions coming from there that were loud enough for people to hear here."

"Interesting...tell me, do you know the people who managed to escape?"

"Um... Some little kid with a dragon, a wolf, and a fox. Why?"

A little kid? Oh my, God! That's Guil! Without another word, I opened up my wings and took off to the skies. I knew Guil was still alive and he managed to escape from a well-constructed prison fortress. That boy never ceases to amaze me. Maybe if I hurry to the fortress, I may find some clue that'll help me find him.

It took 10 minutes for me to get there and the place was a mess. Wow, they sure did a number here. I was impressed. I landed and walked around a little bit, examining the rubble and chuckling at the countless bodies I was seeing. It served them right for trying to imprison Guil. Sadly, I couldn't find anything that could help me find him. Damn, not again. Just when I was sure I would be able to find him, the trail goes cold once again. Now, it's back to square one. I sighed deeply and took off again and headed back for home, yawning rather loudly.

5 years have gone by and I was still not in good shape. I was still thinking about you-know-who, but I guess I had to face it: I was never going to see him again. I was visiting Gull, Galena, and Varin, seeing how they were holding up with Berin looking after them. They have grown up quite a bit. Galena looked just like her mother and that almost made me cry, but I kept my posture. After spending some time with them, I took off to another place: Dragon City. I wanted to visit some friends there after some time: Miguel and Jack. We've been friends for quite a long time. We were actually in Dragon School together. Good times indeed.

Once I got there, the city was looking very lively. I saw they finally built that amusement park they were building 3 years ago. It does look like fun now that I look at it. Maybe when I have the time, I might go on a few rides. Anyway, I walked around town and I finally spotted them putting the finishing touches on another house they were building. We smiled and greeted each other but suddenly, I gasped out loud and went wide-eyed. I couldn't believe what I saw. Standing there, holding up a bucket full of cement. It was Guil.
