Obonic's Redwall fic Outline
A story for Obonic that I've had in my head for some time now.
Obonic's story. (A rough outline)
The story of a young Marten, raised in Redwall, who sets out to find his place in the world.
(This is set in a future time where Red wall is a little more advanced technologically and socially. prejudices against other larger creatures such as weasels and rats are diminishing.)
It begins with Obonic who is captured in his attempts to stow away on a Ship that happens to be a slave transport ship.
While on the ship he meets and speaks with several of the slaves, half of which are from Redwall.
Obonic and the rest of the slaves are taken to Sampetra.
A gang of Rats have been rounding up slaves to Mine for rare gems there.
When OBonic gets there the lead of the Rat group decides that having a Marten on the island is to dangerous for them. He decides to put Obonic to his death by decapitation.
The second in command for the rats then sees his chance to kill and over throw the leader.
Right as the leader of the rats raises the Axe Obonic head.
The second rat stabes the other rat from behind, the leader rat dies and drops his Axe.
With the confusion Obonic is able to grab the Axe and burries it in the other Rat killing him..
He takes off each of the rats heads and shows the other rats so they don't mess with him anymore.
Obonic is rather nervous at this point but he is able to intimidate the rats enough that they starts working for him now.
HE asks for Food since he's been with out for sometime.
They bring him food. He is halfway through eating when they explain that there is very little food left on the island. For the rats, the salves, or anyone..
Obonic's jaw drops, he is mortified.
The Rats explain that they had planned on trading part of the slaves for food from another pirate ship.
They day is over, Obonic goes to retire for the night. The rats show him to the nest of the leader rat (which is Filthy.) Obonic does the best to make use of it
Since he is still nervous about someone attempting to kill him next. HE posts 2 guards at his door. One is one of the rats.. the other is the Fox slave that was on the ship.
Partway through the night the fox creeps in to his room. Thinking he can kill Obonic and take over he raises a knife to stab him.
Before the fox realizes he's not alone, the rat guard takes off the foxes head with the previous axe.
The foxes Head falls on to Obonic lap. Obonic then wakes up screaming.
Obonic speaks with the rat after he has calmed down. He finds that the rat has good enough intentions but is looking for a better life than their previous leaders have given them.
Obonic comes to trust the rat guard and eventually most of his companions. since they didn't care for the other leader much..
The next day Obonic goes out and Orders the slaves free.
and explains the food shortage..
He states that the rats and former slaves must work together to find a solution to their situation.
Many of the former slaves are skeptical. The Rats are a little too and aren't used to working with others.
Many of the slaves rejoice. Some see Obonic as the next Evil dictator.
The Rats have a ship.. It's very old and warn but may still sail.
Obonic explains that if they fix it up enough to sail.
They will return those who wish to their home in Redwall.
A few people stay those who don't have a home or wish to start new.
A few rats, some of the former slaves.
Obonic asks them to do their best to search Sampetra and look for
resources like food, water other materials.
Obonic Returns to Redwall to take back the ex-slaves to their home.
You find out Obonic was raised in as an orphan Redwall and had left in search of
his own place in the world.
He comes back with the ex-slaves, many people are happy.
The Abbott who knew him personally is upset with him for being so reckless.
Obonic explains he needs to go back to the island and take food for the others that are still there.
Eventually the Abbott agrees and provides him with ship full of food and resources.
A few others travel back with him to check out the island.
Obonic returns with the Food and supplies..
Everyone there is happy!
They start working on Building up places to live..
Obonic begins re building the old castle that once belonged to Ublaz.
There is much food, Obonic throws parties with everyone invited.
Obonic becomes King of Sampetra.
Months go by..
People are still working on building. Obonic offers food for all willing to help build their nation.
A Pirate ship comes by..the pirates that had wanted to trade food for slaves.
Obonic has to get others to defend the town. There is a small battle.
The Pirates destroys Obonic's ship.
Eventually they are able to fight them off.
Time goes on.. and food runs low again..
Other search the island for resources..
there is very little.
farming helps a little but doesn't do to well.
Once food become scarce the people become angry.
"Obonic can not provide for us!" they say.
Obonic searches for anything he can do.
He sells of old treasures to passing ships.
but it still does not provide enough..
he sends letters begging for help.
none comes.
People become very angry and plan to kill Obonic.
They turn against him and take him to hang.
"Please! If I die. at least do not cut of my tail!" Obonic cries.
They get him ready to hang.
a Ship far off approaches the island.
It is a Redwall ship, with the Abbott on board.
Obonic is let go to speak with the Abbot and those on the ship.
The Abbott is there to provide more food and assistance.
His old friends are their too.
A Female hare, a Mole, a few others.
People are relived for the food to come in..
They let Obonic resume rule for the time being.
Obonic shows his friends many parts of Sampetra.
His mole friend is a Scientist. Very smart.
The Hare is a war strategist.
As they are exploring, the mole finds something interesting.
A plant that grows all over sampetra.
He picks it up and speaks to obonic.
He explains that is is a medical Plant.
a very rare and useful medical plant that is used in many medicines.
He asks to take some back, Obonic agrees.
That night the Abbott speaks to Bbonic.
He tells Obonic that he needs to surrender his rule of Sampatra.
If he does, he will feed his people... but it would be apart of the Redwall nation.
Obonic and him argue...
to the point that Armies gather.
A war is about to start between Obonic's people of Sampetra and the Redwallers.
Just before it begins, The Mole comes back and speaks with the Abbott and Obonic.
The mole explains that he has found MANY useful Plants and herbs on Sampetra.
He explains the value of them and how much they could be used in Redwall and purposes a trade.
"With the amount of herbs that grow wild here. It's easily worth the food we can provide if you where willing to cultivate and provide it to us!"
The mole is very smart and Obonic and the Abbott agree on a trade.
Thus begins the great Trading company of Obonic and those of Sampetra!
Producing medicines for not just Redwall but for the world!
The Sampetra nation becomes a large company of trading.
Eventually They afford enough to Create a Airship. Which Obonic captains uses to trade to other nations.
