Feral

Story by Skye the Husky on SoFurry

, , , , , ,

This is a poem I wrote about a year ago just because the first few lines came to me out of nowhere and I decided to write them down haha. There isn't really any hidden meaning that I intended to write into this, its just what it is, union of two feral wolves. However, if you find cool hidden meaning in it, please leave a comment! I would be interested to see what this poem means to you ^^ I also have no idea what the rhyme scheme is or anything, I'm not really a poet, but it just sounds right lol. I hope you enjoy!

Feral

A poem by Husky 2.0

I am the Wolf,

swift and strong.

My lonely soul

is filled with song.

Black as shadow,

fleet of feet.

Our eyes lock,

and two souls meet.

Fur of neck

stands firm and tall,

and from my heart

escapes a call.

And this deep call

Draws from my soul,

longing, loneliness,

and woe.

Such things dispel

into the night;

for, in your eyes

I see no fright.

You are surely

friend, not foe.

This I realize.

This I know.

Paws crawl forward

without thought

toward the friend

I long have sought.

Heart is racing;

quickened pulse.

Mind hopes judgments

are not false.

Faster, faster

my feet bound;

tail behind me,

brushing ground.

I dashed then stopped,

and sat, and gazed.

Igneous eyes

set soul ablaze.

Sly, but friendly grin

I saw.

A silver liquid

dripped from your maw.

Impaled by teeth

lay slew, fresh meat.

My stomach churned

with will to eat.

And then,

to my surprise, I saw

the fresh, raw kill

fall from your maw.

Through eyes,

my famine you had sensed.

Clearly I understood now

whence

came all your sympathy

For I,

your sought soul mate,

your new ally.

So as a gesture

of my decree,

I raised my tail

and sang to thee.

And when you joined

Chorus with I,

I felt my sad soul

touch Night's sky.

And with our teeth

the meat was torn.

It made us fresh,

alive, reborn.

And when the meal

was finished, done;

our muscles stronger

than the sun,

two black figures

in the night

chose a path;

slipped out of sight.
