Chapter 2: The missing animals
The lake glowed brighter than before every time. Adam's eyes widened. He was confused of this amazing sight before him. The middle of lake opened up to a water hole. He tried to look inside the hole, but when he did, he only saw blotchy colours of the rainbow. Adam heard a rustle in the trees. Adam looked behind him too see if he could identify the sound. But he couldn't see anything! Adam was puzzled and slightly worried. But, he heard things about this place. There are two answers that Adam could think of (so far). It's could be either
1: Many animals live in the forest, maybe it was them. Or
2: Perhaps it's the 'missing animals' Adam heard about.
Many possibilities were thought, but thing or things were too fast for Adam to see. The sound of rustling soon slowed down and Adam heard heavy breathing.
"This thing," Adam thought "Must be really tired, it moves around a lot. I wonder how it has so much energy. I hope it will be slow enough so I can see it." The rustling halted to a stop. Adam held his head where he thought this thing could be. He walked towards the tree where he saw...Water? How water float in mid-air? Adam climbed up to a branch above him and climbed up. When Adam climbed up the fifth branch above him he saw the thing that was breathing heavily. It looked...odd. It had small fins on the back palms of this animal, it had a float thing on its neck was yellow; it had a small bit of blubber on its body. It kind of looks like a fox and a fish mixed together to make a different body. Adam was surprised how this 'Thing' could move so fast. Adam started to climb down and forgot that the portal was still open on the middle of the lake.
"Well," Adam said aloud. "I guess that thing I saw came from that place. It looked like one of the missing animals. If I go to this other place, maybe I can solve this mystery of this other place, and why I'm related to this hole thing." Adam doesn't know why. But when he said the words he saw on the fish, he felt like he opened the portal in the lake and decided to be adventuress and explore this... other place. Adam saw a boat and paddled to just the outside of the hole. The boat stopped on the edge and Adam looked into the portal. He saw a blue sky and lots of trees just like forest he was in now. Adam tried to stand up, he lost his balance and felt as if something pushed him into the lake and Adam went tumbling into the portal. Adam closed his eyes and waited to get wet. Adam kept waiting and waiting but he didn't get wet. "That's odd," Adam thought "usually when you fall into a place filled with with water, you get drenched." Adam opened his eyes slowly and saw lots of wildlife before his eyes as he fell deeper and deeper into the hole. Before he reached the bottom the image he saw was the animal that he saw before he fell in. The animal was in the same Position as Adam. The animal reached out his paw to Adam; Adam felt slightly scared and held his hand out to the animal. The paw and the hand touched, and they shook each other's hands. The animal smiled just as Adam did. Then the animal disappeared and fell into the shining light underneath him.
