#1 of The Rithmorie Chronicles

This is just something that I thought of that would be fun. I had a nifty little back story written down but I thought to go into detail with it. So.. eh heh.. ^///^ I hope you all enjoy. I'm still working on my skills for writing and think that practice like this is good. :3 Please.. no bashing... also.. wasn't what to put for tags and am unsure if this is considered adult. I also am unsure if I should keep writing in this style or if I should go to the first person perspective. X3

A long time ago, long before the most ancient of civilizations. A clan of gifted anthro's lived in peace with the world itself and all its elements. A clan of elementalists, the Rithmorie clan. A clan of huskies, that uses the elements of the world to aid them in anything that is needed. Fire, earth, water, air and many more. Adriana, a young female husky, was a fairly gifted elementalist and her husband Athreal, soon to be chief elementalist and the leader of the clan, walked there son to the pool.

At the age of four, all those born into the Rithmorie Clan had to drink from their sacred pool. The essence of there power. They had called it the Rith. After one drank from the Rith they were embued with the power of the world's elements. The clan itself was once believed to have the blood of dragons running through there vains. Their own ancesters having the ability to change into a dragon themselves. But that ability was long lost and forgotten. The two reached the pool with their son, who had been named Tonka.

He was only four years olf but already had a pretty good grasp on things. He looked up to his mother and wagged his tail excitedly. He was always so envious of others being able to bend the elements to their will while he just watched. His mother smiled back down at him, but he couldn't help but to notice a sense of worry. Athreal didn't bother to look at his son, never made eye contact and that made Tonka fold his ears back in dismay. He gripped his mothers paw as tightly as he could as he was starting to get nervous.

The village elder, Kahz waited for them and various others from the village as well. They were all dressed in robes and started to hum, like chanting almost but in humming form. " Welcome Adriana and Athreal." Kahz said softly. He walked up to them and patte Tonka on the head. Tonka didn't know what to do but close his eyes tightly and fold his ears back again. " Welcome to the start of your life my dear pup." he said softy. Tonka started to calm down as he heard the old one speak to him, causing him to wag his tail happily.

His mother took him by the paw and walked him up to the pond he was supposed to drink from. He hoped up the stone platfroms. They seemed a little most. The pond was more like a big swiming pool. His mother knelt down beside him and looked at him. She had picked him up under the arms and lifted him over the water. " Drink my son.." she had whispered softly. He was lowered down till his muzzle was just about to touch the water. Suddenly, the ground began shake. His mother tried to keep balance and soon lost her hold on Tonka. He fell into the water and immediately began to panic.

Adriana tried aimlessly to try and reach in to grab him, but it was hard with the ground shaking. Athreal just stood and watched. Not moving a single inch. Kahz tried his best to help Adriana and the others that where there were running around as they didn't know what to do. Eventually Tonka had stopped failing. He couldn't swim. He had swallowed a good amount of the water it made him feel sick and heavy. He started to get tired and couldn't reach for the air and soon the water had began to fill his lungs, his vision going blurry till he blacked out.

The others were tryin hard to keep Adriana from jumping in as it was forbidden to do so. Kahz eventually hooked Tonka with his staff and pulled him up. The young husky not moving a single bit. Adriana rushed over and started to heal him, giving his chest some pressure to try and squeeze the water from his lungs. Others went to help her and eventually Kahz had put his paw on her shoulder, almost in tears. " Adriana... I think he has passed." he said calmly to her. She couldn't help but to begin crying. Her paws placed on her thighs as she knealed over the lifeless body of her son. Kazh and the others bowed down there heads in remorse. Athreal scoffed, acting like he didn't care. He turned his back and cursed the air with a sigh.

Adriana opened her eyes and looked at her son. She put a paw on his head and rubed over his ears. As she touched him, the natural grey fur that he had, began to change. It was becoming a soft green color. SHe had stopped crying and looked in awe. " K-Kahz!" she holler out. He rushed over to her and she pointed at the color change in Tonka's fur.

" What in the world..?" he said softly. A few moments later the grey fur had changed completely to green. There was silence from everyone as they were all curious. Even Athreal came to see what was going on. The silence was soon broken as Tonka had opened his eyes and taken a huge breath of air, coughing slight. He started to flail around. His eyes looking all over the place. His mother was shocked and just picked him up. She had started to cry again, tears running over her muzzle. " By the gods! What manner of magic is this?!" he cried out in happiness. He was mesmerized at the fur color change.

Kazh rubbed his paw over the soft green fur. It was perfectly dry, almost as if it was never wet to begin with. " Adriana, the gods are watching over this child." he said softly. Athreal scoffed again. He yanked Tonka from Adriana and held him up.

" So what makes this child so special. Yes his fur changed but still. I see nothing but child." Athreal said softly. He was curious like everyone else, a trait that all huskies had. Tonka didn't know what was happening. He got worried as he heard the words of his father, tears starting to fill his eyes and soon his fur started to change colors again. It was going from the lovely green hue to a blue color.

" Athreal enough, he almost died we should count this as a blessing." Adriana stated. Soon she looked at the color change in Tonka's fur and tilted her head. " Kahz.. its changing again.." she said softly. Tonka's fur was now completely blue. Athreal tilted his head as looked like he was having a hard time to grip Tonka.

" His... his fur is soaked.." he said in astonishment. He didn't know what was happening and soon, no matter how hard he tried to keep a hold on his son, Tonka slipped from his grasp. As he hit the ground he seemed to just turn into a puddle of water. " What in the world.." Athreal stated. Adriana jumped as she wasn't expecting that at all.

" What did you do?" she asked in shock. She knealed down at the puddle but before she could do anything Kahz stopped her.

" Wait.. just watch." he said softly. Sure enough the puddle of water started to rise and take a form. Tonka was looking at himself, curious as to why he seemed transparent and why he didn't have any legs. Kahz knealed beside him and smiled. " Now.. Tonka, try and focus.. close your eyes and remember what you looked like. Focus on yourself. " Kahz said softly. Tonka looked up at Kahz and tilted his head. He didn't understand at first and just looked at his hands. He tried to move but remembered he didn't have any legs. He started to panic again, getting frustrated at his lack of movement.

" Tonka my dear calm down and listen." Adriana said softly. Tonka looked at her and tilted his head again. Adriana started to hum softly to him, reaching over to rub his head. " Just relax okay?" she said softly. Tonka closed his eyes as she began to hum. His father sighed and stormed off.

" I don't understand why you are babying him so much. He needs to learn not to rely on your hymns." he stated softly. He was to frustrated at his lack of information. He looked around and then began to leave. He had an odd feeling that he needed to do something and he felt that he should go consult with someone. Someone that he feels he can trust. Tonka, not paying any mind to his upset father was lost in his mothers humming. He started to calm down and relax. He soon solidified, his white and blue fur returning. His blue fur started to change back to its normal grey as he heard his mothers tune.

" Adriana, your son... may turn out to be one of the most powerful elementalists in our clan. I have never seen someone turn into the purest form of an element. He is going to be unique and we must be careful from now on." He said softly as he rubbed Tonka's head. He yawned and soon sat down. Adriana picked him up and nuzzled him softly. " Watch out, little one. The gods are looking at you for a reason." he whispered to him. Tonka just closed his eyes and fell asleep in his mothers arms.

" I wish he wasn't mute, I would love to know what is going on in his head right now.." Adriana said as she walked with Kahz.

" You and me both. I don't know what the effects of drowning in the Rith are, but I suppose we will find out, and soon." he replied. " Goodnight Tonka."
