#6 of Land of the Elves

A week later on the same day, grey clouds were painted across the sky and steady drops of rain fell. The day of the queen's funeral was sad, sadder than the rest. Hikarume wore her black formal dress and a black shawl over her shoulders. Kage wore a black suit with his hair combed back. Kiseki did not attend, as she was taking the queen's death quite badly. She had cried the entire week, day and night.

"Kage, did you love mother even though you had just met her?" Hikarume asked.

"Of course I did. She was my mother." Kage simply answered.

"What are to do now? Kiseki won't be in a stable state if mind for a while unless mother's diadem can snap her back into reality."

"Then we'll have to put the diadem on her. It's our only choice." He began to walk away from the group of grieving elves and towards the castle. Hikarume quickly followed.

"Kage, what if she can't put it on? What if the diadem brings back memories of Lady Sakura to her? It would take so much longer for her to recover." Hikarume concidered.

Kage stopped abruptly and turned around to face Hikarume.

"I've waited for a week. I can wait longer. Besides, I've waited 15 years to meet my real family." Kage smiled.

Hikarume looked at him dead in the eyes. "Well I'm growing impatient, so lets go see what's up with the diadem." and she ran off.

Kage began to follow Hikarume but he stopped in his tracks-as did Hikarume-when an explosion erupted from the servant's quarters.

"KISEKI!" Hikarume shouted and she ran towards the rubble. A black, cloaked figure jumped out of the smoke with Kiseki over his shoulder. The way she hung limp in his grasp signaled that she was unconscious. Hikarume gasped.

"Hikarume! Dragons, now!" Kage shouted. Hikarume nodded and she tapped the green dragon on her amulet. A green light surrounded her for a second and it disapeared, but Hikarume was nowhere to be found. The cloaked man looked around for Hikarume , but when he looked up he only had a one second window to jump out of the way of being crushed by a dragon and it's rider.

"Kaze! (Ka-zeh)" the man shouted. The wind began to blow violently and it was pushing Kage backwards while Hikarume's dragon held it's footing.

Hikarume glared at the man and shouted, "Who are you and why are you kidnapping our friend!?" The wind stopped and when Hikarume looked back at Kage, she saw fear on his face. "Kage, what's wrong?" she asked. Kage attempted to speak, but his voice faltered. He pointed at the man and Hikarume looked. Her heart skipped a beat. The man looked just like Kage. "Father...?" Hikarume whispered. The man nodded and ran into Fier Woods. Hikarume snapped out of her daze and rushed into the forest. Kage was still frozen with fear. His back was pushed against the wall and slowly he slid down to the ground. The rain began to fall harder and soon the visibility will be horrible. Kage looked up at the grey sky and screamed at the top of his lungs. His emotions were confusing. First he felt in a calm state of mind, then hatred and now... he wasn't sure. He wasn't used to his emotions being like this. It was fear he had lived in for 15 years. He needed help, but who could he turn to? Hikarume was chasing the man who claims to be their father, and his mother was dead and his friend was kidnapped.

"I should be used to this, Touva was never there for me. Ever. I was a slave to him, a money maker, his theif. His torture doll." Kage chuckled to himself.

The rain was horrible now. It soaked his clothes and his hair was sticking to his face. He could see nothing in front of him not within a meter and it was getting worse. Kage stood up and began to walk towards the entrance of the castle. Once he got on the doorway, the remaining servants rushed over to him with a towel and a mug of tea.

"Arigato," Kage muttered. The towel felt warm against his wet clothes which were quickly discarded and replaced with new much more comfortable clothes.

"My prince, where is the princess?" one of the male servants asked.

"She went after the man that took Kiseki. She should be back soon." Kage said reassuringly.

"I hope she didn't get lost. The wind is all over the place." Another servant said. This made Kage drop his mug. '_Hikarume...I have to go find her!'

_

"Get me a cloak and the fastest horse in the stables." Kage ordered. Two of the servants ran off in opposite directions and Kage ran towards the main gates. A white horse with a golden saddle was waiting with a servant on each side. One of them held a white cloak.

"This is an enchanted cloak. You won't get wet nor will you take any damage if the man attacks you." The servant explained whilst putting the cloak of Kage.

"Arigato!" he exclaimed and jumped on the horse, "Hiya!" and with a quick hit with the reins he was off.

_Hikarume's POV

"_ Get back here you!" Hikarume shouted at the man. She was running on foot now due to her dragon being to big to fit through the trees, but running was just as effective. The man didn't give any signs that he heard Hikarume shouting but he made a sharp turn to the left with Hikarume on his tail. The man ran into a clearing with a mountain's wall surrounding all the escape routes. Hikarume snickered and slowed her pace.

"Are you going to give up, father? or are you really my father?"

"Tell me Hikarume, what would you do if you were in my shoes?" his gruff voice echoed off the stone walls.

Hikarume snickered, "I would just kill ya you bastard."

"Such bad dialect for such a beautiful girl. Here, take your friend, she does not have what I seek. But you do, Hikarume." The man tossed Kiseki towards Hikarume as if she were a rag doll. Hikarume caught her easily and began to walk backwards.

"I have nothing that you seek." Hikarume began to get slightly scared, but why? She has no reason to be scared, unless...

" Hikarume! Watch out!" A familiar voice shouted.

"What?" she whispered and looked behind her shoulder. She saw nothing but the shadow of the man jumping towards her with a sword in his hands and she turned back towards him. her heart dropped and it seemed like things were going in slow motion. All she saw was the man's cursed face, almost a mirror image of Kage, and the shadow of her brother in a white cloak jumping in front of her. Once the man's sword fell upon Kage, a shower of sparks erupted from the collision. Everything began to move at a normal pace again once the man jumped backwards across the clearing. A deep gash was sliced across his face and Kage's own blade had a crimson streak to it along with a blue tint and a sapphire hilt.

"Kage? when'd you get a sword?" Hikarume ask, her eyes as wide as a sugar gliders'.

"I dunno. I think it's the amulets again." Kage said on a low confused voice. (Imagine that. I'm just laughing my ass off thinking about it. His confused face looking at the blade in his hands. Okay let's go back and see what happens)

"Sukoshi baka..." Hikarume muttered with her eye twitching. she shook it off, "just kill him with it. It doesn't matter if he dies to me. he can't be our father because our father died a while ago. Cut out his guts."

Kage's breath caught in his throat. Did she really just say that? at least he got to have some fun, "of course, Hikarume." Kage charged forward towards the man at amazing speeds and cut his arm. The man screamed and swung his sword at Kage but the blade bounced off his white cloak. the retaliation gave Kage another chance to strike the man and boy, did he take advantage of it. the soft sound of the blade going through his clothing and flesh rung through Kage's ears when he struck the man. The man look at Kage with pain in his eyes.

"Don't fuck with my family ever, evil spirit. Now begone!" Kage whispered to the withering man. In a flash of light, the man disappeared. Kage looked at his blade as his transformed back into a pendant and turned his head towards Hikarume. Kage walked towards Hikarume, his eyelids hung low. Once he was close to Hikarume, he pulled her into a hug.

"I almost lost you too." Kage began to cry softly. Hikarume seemed surprised at Kage's sudden change in emotion.

"I'm fine, alright? but I'm not so sure about Kiseki. we need to get her someplace warm."

Kage took off his cloak and put it on Kiseki. "The cloak is enchanted. That's why when the man hit it, it bounced off."

"I was wondering about that. Now let's go home before we get sick." Hikarume smiled. She turned around and looked at the horse. Kage took Kiseki and placed her on top of the horse.

"You going to get on, Hikarume?" Kage asked when he grabbed the halter.

Hikarume shook her head, "Nay, I'll run."

Once she took off, Kage jumped on the horse and pushed the horse into a trot.

"Once I get back to the castle, I'm definitely going to wake Kiseki up and make her put on the diadem so we can get a move on."
