#4 of Land of the Elves

I wish there was a teen age group for me to select ;3;

"Morning seems to come quicker in Fier Woods than back at the castle," Hikarume thought aloud. As she was walking among the gnarled trees, a small whisp of wind whistled past Hikarume's ear, making her pull out an arrow and readied the bow. She stood in the position for a while and when her muscles calmed, she lowered the bow and put the arrow back in the quiver, "I'm too touchy. Maybe I just need to calm down."

Now, let's check up on Kage :D

Drip, Drip, Drop! The morning dew dripped off the red and yellow leaves in the leaf canopy Kage took refuge under and onto his face, the third droplet waking him up. "Morning already? Damn, I'm still tired after that run. I haven't ran like that in months, let alone get caught." his words slurred as he yawned. Kage stood up and brushed the brown fallen leaves from his shirt and pants and wandered aimlessly around the trees, nothing making him flinch.

Except the green glow from his amulet.

He gasped. Whatever his amulet was doing, another elf nearby must be having the same reaction with their amulet. He started running now, the green glow growing brighter. Suddenly, something made him slow down to a stop behind a bunch of bushes. He peaked through the gnarled leaves and his eyes widened at the sight of a girl sitting on a fallen log.

Now, let's see how Hikarume saw all this.

The wind kept on blowing on Hikarume's ears, making her ready her bow and stop. She finally decided to try to ignore the wind, but that proved easier said than done. The reason? Hikarume always listened to the wind after it saved her from an accident.

When Hikarume was only 5, she managed to get lost in the woods. She was lost for what seemed to be hours, but then, she could have sworn she heard the wind whispering to her, "This way." So she followed the direction the wind was blowing and lo and behold it lead her back to the castle. From then on out, she always listened to the wind's knowledgable whispers.

But this time the wind was saying, "Over here." Hikarume misinterpreted these words and thought the wind meant that there was danger. Finally, she gave up and sat down on a fallen log with a sigh. The wind kept whispering, "Over here, over here." but once, it said, "Kage, over here." This made her jump up and yell "Where?!" and she finally noticed the bright blue glow coming from underneath her shirt. Hikarume pulled out necklace out and she stared at the blue dragon. Was the wind truly this knowledgeable? Suddenly, the necklace levitated and it tugged Hikarume towards a bunch of bushes. She bent down and pushed away the bushes. She was staring right into a set of beautiful sapphire eyes. It took her a moment to finally realize that she just found her brother.

"Who is this girl?" Kage thought. He was just staring at her, his glowing pendant not showing any sign of dimming. Then, the girl shouted, "Where?!" making Kage jump a little in surprise. She looked down and pulled out an amulet glowing blue. "So she has the other necklace." She began to walk over to his hiding spot in the bushes and she pulled back the bushes, meeting her emerald eyes with his sapphire eyes.

"Kage?" she asked in a confused voice.

"How the hell does this girl now my name? And who is she? We look like we're siblings! Well, besides our eyes." he thought. "H-how do you know my name?" Kage asked, not pulling his face away from hers. He just kept staring into her eyes.

After a few silent minutes, she smiles and tears fill her eyes, "Brother." she whispers. The girl hugs him and begins to sob, "Brother, I thought I would never see you!"

"BROTHER? I'M HER BROTHER?' H-hold on a minute here. First of all, I don't even know y-" Kage began. Suddenly, the girl pulled away, "I'm Hikarume, and you're Kage. Kage means shadows right? My name means glowing eyes (don't ask ._.'') so our names kinda contradict" Hikarume rambled on.

"WHO ARE OUR PARENTS?" Kage snapped. Hikarume looked at Kage, awestricken.

She looked down at the ground for a moment and then looked up at Kage with a cheerful look on her face, "Lady Sakura is our mother. The king died of depression after you were kidnapped."

"And how do you know I'm the prince?" Kage asked. He was trying to keep his face straight. A prince? Who would'a ever guessed?

"Your amulet. Only you can put it on and take it off." Hikarume explained, "Oh and speaking of the amulets, I have to contact mother." She took her amulet and touched the garnet in the center and it began to glow. A holographic picture of Lady Sakura's face appeared above the amulet.

"Hikarume? You're safe! I'm so happy, did you find Kage? Oh let me see my big boy!" Lady Sakura exclaimed with immeasurable happiness.

"Hi... mom?" Kage said with uncertainty.

Lady Sakura gasped and smiled, "You look just like your father, Kage." Suddenly, her face turned into a frown and she looked down, "I can see your current position in the forest, but you're too far for our soldiers to reach. Can you get out using the Fier's Voice, Hikarume?"

"Fier's voice? You mean the wind, right?" Hikarume asked.

"Yes, Fier was the ruler of the forest domain. she's gone now, but physically. She helps people lost in the forest. Follow her directions and you should safely get out. I wish you two the best of luck." and with the said, Lady Sakura's hologram disappeared.

Kage looked at Hikarume and Hikarume looked at Kage, and she began to laugh. Kage followed, but both of them were cut short when a twig cracked. The wind blew in Hikarume's ear and she quickly let loose and arrow towards the direction the wind was blowing. It hit a tree, but next to the tree was a very angered man.

"I FINALLY FOUND YEH YA PEST! YOU CAN'T GO BACK TO THE CASTLE, BECAUSE YOU BELONG TO US! THE BANDITS OF EVLERIA!" the man hollered. In his hand he held a whip and men behind him also held whips, but his whip was metal. The metal created a glare from the sun and the reflection landed of Kage.

"Kage, I hope my guess is correct, but these amulets aren't just person-protected, they hold special powers. At the count of three, touch your side of the dragon. Fier just told me to touch mine, so you do the same." Hikarume whispered.

The men took a step closer.

"One."

And another.

"Two..."

And one more.

"Three!" Hikarume and Kage shouted together.

They touched the glowing dragons and a blinding light enveloped them.

When the lights dissipated, the bandits all gasped.

Hikarume opened her eyes and saw the sky, but when she looked down, she saw what seemed to be emerald scales and when she leaned over, she saw she was riding an emerald dragon. She looked to her left and saw Kage riding a sapphire dragon, his eyes still shut tight.

"Kage! Open your eyes!" Hikarume shouted.

Kage cautiously opened his eyes and saw the sapphire dragon he was riding. He chuckled and looked down at the man with the metal whip and glared.

"Now you'll feel my pain of 15 years!" He shouted in rage and the dragon dove down towards the man. He was petrified and couldn't move. The dragon caught him in it's jaws and bit down hard, splattering his blood. Kage was laughing maniacly, and the other men ran back into the woods.

"Kage! Calm down! I don't know what the man did to you, but he had no right to be killed like that!" Hikarume shouted. Her dragon dove down and reached the same altitude as Kage's dragon.

Kage stopped laughing and looked over at Hikarume. "This man killed countless lives. He deserved to be killed just as brutally as he did to those he killed.

Hikarume was still displeased. "Well, clean your dragon of his blood. We're flying these two home."

Kage nodded and his dragon dropped the man's body and it landed with a sickening thud. "Where's the nearest water source?"

"Not too far." Hikarume answered quietly.

"Go towards the setting moon." Fier's Voice whispered.

"Towards the setting moon. Come one, Kage. Let's go home."
