#2 of Land of the Elves

This was really two chapters, but one of them was way too short, so I out them together. I like it much better like this.

"Hikarume, may I come in?" Lady Sakura knocked on Hikarume's door.

"Yes mother." Hikarume called back, quickly kicking her bow and arrows under her bed.

Lady Sakura opened the door and smiled at her daughter. Despite their inverted hair colours and height, you could say they were twins. The same laugh, same smile, same voice. "I have a feeling you weren't in the garden the entire time we were searching. I have a hunch you were outside the walls." Sakura said sternly.

Hikarume's face turned a deathly white and she looked down at her feet and the feather of an arrow poking out of from under bed, "I can hear a voice, a male voice, calling my name deep inside the forest. It sounds so familiare, it is so unnerving. I have to go and find who or what is calling me!"

"Hikarume, you have the right to know something. Remember the other infant in the photos we have? Well, that is your brother, Kage. He was kidnapped 15 years ago by a group of bandits and they ran into the forest. We've sent guards there, but they never came back." Sakura sadly said.

"A...a brother!? Better yet, a twin? Why did you never tell me?" Hikarume exclaimed as she reached under her bed to retrieve her bow and quiver. She pulled off her dress to reveal her hunting outfit.

"Hikarume, there are certain things that haunt me when i think of them or speak of them. Kage is one of them." Lady Sakura said in a low voice.

"And I suppose you're going to forbid me to go and find Kage." Hikarume growled.

"I will allow you to, but take this." Lady Sakura said, cheerfulness growing in her voice. She reached behind her neck and unclipped her necklace with an emerald and sapphire embedded in silver in the shape of two dragons and put it around Hikarume's neck. "I'm sure Kage has his necklace I gave him, so when you're near him, then the sapphire will glow. And we can communicate by the garnet embedded in the center."

"Thank you, mother. I will not let you down!" Hikarume exclaimed. Suddenly, she did the unthinkable. She hugged her mother. He hug lasted as quickly as it had happened as Hikarume ran over to her door and pulled her cloak off the hook. "I will bring back Kage." And she ran out of her room, leaving Lady Sakura with alone with a smile on her face.

"I believe in you, Hikarume." She whispered.
