A gunshot awoke me, I bolted from my bed and jumped up, nearly falling with my blankets tangled around my feet, kicking it off and grabbing the knife I kept under the mattress, I flung myself from the room and quickly swung open the door, running swiftly through the forest trees, I hid behind a large boulder and peered out from behind it, just as three horsemen rode up to the cabin.

"Check the house, make sure that girl hadn't gotten away." A man with graying hair and a thick mustache and beard ordered the one horsemen, he hopped off his horse expertly and strode into my house, kicking in the door that had swung itself shut when I bolted out, and he cocked his shotgun, and disappeared through the doorway.

It had only been a few minutes when he emerged, shaking his head at the man who had commanded he check for me, looking at the younger guy who just came from my house, he had messy blonde hair and a youthful face, he was tall and strongly built. "Empty." He concluded. "Check around the house, I don't want her getting away that easily." The older man ordered.

"Yes sir." The young one replied and went off around the cabin, I took that moment to bolt away from my spot, trying to keep as quiet as possible, I kept running, my breath was starting to come faster as my lungs burned.

Finally, after about ten minutes, I had to stop, I couldn't run any longer, my legs hurt, my lungs burned something terrible, and I couldn't manage to go any further, so I sat down on the damp earth and lied back on the ground.

Closing my eyes I continued to try and catch my breath, air was coming easier and I could finally breath better, sitting up I pushed myself up and started walking towards, where I knew, a town lay.

Keeping my head high I traveled through the forest, pushing branches and bushes away from my face and arms, and continued forward, the sun shone brightly through the trees and I sighed, it wasn't to hot, nor to cold, just perfect.

But I still sweat terribly from my earlier run, it was quiet, save from the noise of birds and other animals chattering about, it was easy to enjoy my long walk as long as there were no danger of being caught.

I then heard the sound of something, it was faint and very far off, but I knew I had found the town, quickening my pace, I moved on, till, hopefully I would be there soon.
