#4 of The Perfect Harmony

Well, I've decided that in order to keep more and more stories coming to you guys, I've cut out the handwritten section of my story creation process. I used to hand write all of my stories beforehand, and then type them, but that takes forever. I'm pleased to announce that we have a new character in this one! Drake Gentleheart, copyright to user Drakoman, has joined the cast! Remember, you CAN be just like him, if you send me a PM and request to be in a story. Best part...it's FREE!! :D

THE PERFECT HARMONY CH. IV:

||||Manhattan Man Handle|||

The next morning, I awoke from what felt like the best rest of my life. I sat up and yawned, blinking from the fresh sunlight pouring in from between the drapes over the picture window. I looked around, and smiled at Eddy, who was sleeping like a baby still. I slowly got out of bad, and crept over to the window, admiring the view...at least somewhat. While there was a certain beauty to the New York City skyline, it was already being tainted by the honking of horns, yelling voices, and the various scents from the roadside vendors. I looked down upon the various humans and morphs, and noticed an exceptionally large rhinoceros morph with what looked like a gang following him, all looking melancholy.

"Note to self" I thought.

"Avoid them."

I was justified in my reasoning; they certainly didn't look like a group to cross swords with. I pulled my suitcase out from the corner, grabbed some clothes and my toiletries, and stepped into the suite's bathroom for a quick shower.

After I stepped out of the shower, I was greeted by a bright-eyed Eddy, who kissed me, and stepped into the shower himself. I went ahead and got dressed, wearing a black shirt that fit a little tight around my chest, and standard jeans. Glancing at the bedside clock, I noticed that the professor would be here in about ten minutes. I knocked on the bathroom door.

"Five minutes, love" I alerted Eddy. All I got back was a grunt.

Five minutes later, Eddy was out of the shower and in an outfit identical to mine. After I gate him flak over wearing the same thing, we sat down in the chairs, and waited for time to pass.

As soon as the clock flipped to 10:00, a knock issued from the door.

"Like clockwork." I muttered as I opened the door.

Standing before me was the same stallion from yesterday but I almost didn't recognize him. Instead of the formal suit that I was expecting, he now wore a black muscle shirt with baggy jeans, the same damn exact thing as Eddy and I. He also wore piercings in both ears, and even a bull-like nose ring.

"Guess today was black shirt and jeans day" he said, eyeing Eddy and I. He no longer spoke with an accent.

"I trust you two slept well?" He asked, pulling up a chair and sitting down.

"When are we going to see the professor?" I asked, a little nervous.

"The professor unfortunately had a meeting to attend for most of the day today, and has asked that I take you out on the town instead." Eddy and I exchanged confused looks. Confusion was all we had encountered so for in this crazy city.

"Oh! Excuse Me! I haven't even introduced myself yet! My name is Baurus, Professor Huntington's assistant and, on some occasions, his personal bitch." His voice was filled with what sounded like disdain as he spoke.

"If you were wondering about that fake accent I use, it's because the Professor makes me."

I tried to stifle a laugh, but failed miserably at it.

"Yes, I know, it is pretty funny..." Baurus said with a smirk.

"Today, since I'm taking you two out on a date..."

Eddy and I smiled.

"...I figured that we could go get my friend Drake, and just hang out for a while at his place, maybe grab some lunch while we're at it."

Eddy and I looked at each other, seeing if the other had any objections. We didn't.

"Alright, Baurus, you've got yourself a date!" I said.

And just like that, New York's culture was thrust upon us like a well-endowed culture-cock into the virgin tail holes of the depths of our minds.

Baurus took us around the city, and attempted to tell us the names of locations as we fought our way through what felt like a salmon mating run. There were people and morphs all over the place, forming one-way streams that would have been impossible to move the opposite way in. It was at times like these when I wished my wings were actually usable. Baurus, Eddy, and I stopped in Times Square. The sight was a lot different from what I had pictured, but it was impressive nonetheless. We walked down Broadway, and I took mental notes of the musicals that I really wanted to see. Tops on my list were: Wicked, Godspell, and Phantom of the Opera. I was starting to get hungry, and asked Baurus when we were going to start heading to his friend's house.

"Oh, sure! Let's just get a cab first....uh oh..." I was going to ask him what was wrong, but then I saw what he was looking at. The huge rhinoceros that I promised I was going to avoid was headed straight towards us, his snickering gang following him. All of them wore black bandanas, sleeveless green shirts, and black pants, with various chains hanging off. As they drew closer, the rhino eyed us three, and spoke in a rough voice that sounded somewhat like heavy stones grinding together.

"Hey boys, looks like we've got ourselves a few fags!!" His gang followed in synchronized laughter, sounding very much forced. I doubt that they actually found our appearance funny.

"Baurus, why aren't with your master today? Tired of getting whipped and forced to suck his cock?" Again with the forced laughter. Baurus blushed and looked away in shame.

"And who do we have here?" He said, looking past Baurus, and eyeing Eddy and I.

"Well, aren't you two cuties?" He said in a mocking voice, but this time he cut off his goons' laughter before they could start. He turned to them, speaking softly, but firmly.

"Hey, why don't you guys get lost for a while, huh? I'm gonna get to know the fags a little more...if you know what I mean!" They snickered and left. The rhino turned, smiling.

"Hey, sorry about that Baurus, you know that I've gotta put on a show for those guys...otherwise they'd kill me!"

Baurus looked up and smiled, giving the rhino a quick hug when the others were out of eyesight. He gestured towards us.

"These 'fags' are Karasu and Eddy. Karasu's the new guy to Juilliard, remember? The one that I told you about the other day?"

Eddy and I exchanged our millionth confused look since we landed in New York.

"Karasu, Eddy...this is Greg...and he's about the biggest homosexual you'll ever meet. He's an undercover bounty hunter, trying to break up gang activity. He catches gangsters committing crimes, and turns 'em into the coppers, but not before having his way with them!"

Greg chuckled.

"You make it sound like I rape them, buddy! Please, come back to my apartment...I'd love to meet your new friends!" Baurus checked his watch.

"Yeah, we've got enough time until we're supposed to meet Drake. Let's go!"

Greg turned on his heels and led us down a nearby alley. On the other side, it was a short walk until we got to a relatively decent looking apartment building, nestled in the heart of downtown NYC. We ventured inside and up a few floors, and into the first room on the left. For a rhino, his room seemed quite small, but there was also a quaint beauty to it.

"Well, this is it. It's not like your fancy condos on the west coast, but at least it's home!"

Eddy and I looked around, examining pictures and furnishings. Most of the pictures featured Greg and Baurus in funny poses. They looked very close.

"I hope this doesn't come off a rude..." I asked.

"But are you two...."

"Yeah, we're engaged actually!" Baurus said, holding up his left hand. I hadn't noticed the ring.

"We can't move in, otherwise we'll draw attention to the gangs that I'm trying to bust. And we haven't gotten officially married yet, because of the damn laws." Greg explained. I had to agree, the laws prohibiting gay marriage were downright unconstitutional in my opinion, but with the republicans running the country, that wasn't about to change any time soon.

"Can I get you anything?" Greg asked...it was clear that he didn't get visitors often, as he quickly scrambled into the kitchen, looking for something to get us.

"Just a glass of water, please." I said. Eddy said he didn't want anything.

Once you got to know him, it was clear that the tough appearance of Greg was just an act. He was really just a gentle giant. He had almost a kind of innocence to him that you wouldn't expect from a bounty hunter posing as a gangster. It made him sexy in a unique way. We sat around and BS'd quite a bit...mostly him asking me questions of the Seattle area.

"I've always wanted to visit...maybe now I'll have an excuse" He had said.

After a little while, Baurus checked his watch, and suggested that we start heading out. He gave Greg a quick kiss, and he led us out the door, and onto the street below. Baurus called a cab with relative ease, and 10 minutes later, we had pulled up to an old looking house in a nice neighborhood. Baurus hit a buzzer, and a calm voice answered:

"Hey Baurus! I'll buzz you in."

Baurus led us up yet more stairs (I got the feeling that I would get quite a workout from this city) and into the first door we came across. The flat was actually quite large, and was filled with music posters. Whoever lived here was obviously a musician...I know one when I see one. The same calm voice spoke from the other room:

"Be there in just a minute! Stupid guitar string broke..." and in stepped Drake. I know that Eddy and I were dating, but had we not been, I probably would have leapt across the room and had him there. Seeing him was the first time I had seen a dragon other than myself, and now I understood why I always got second glances from people...the boy was dead sexy. His scales were a pleasing shade of navy blue, and everything about him seemed to emit a calming aura around everyone. I got the feeling that it would be impossible to be upset next to him. In his hand he held a guitar...which made him even sexier in my mind's eye. I love musicians. I could tell that he really hadn't much contact with other dragons as well, because he did a quick double take upon seeing me.

"You're Karasu, right?" He said. His voice caused me to melt a little.

"Yeah..." I said. I was so completely enthralled...it was as if he had control over my mind. I get the feeling that he noticed this.

"So...you're a musician too, huh? We should play together some time!" As he said this, I nodded, but it wasn't music that I was thinking about playing with him, to say the least. When Eddy spoke, though, I remembered my commitment to him, and Drake's hold over my mind broke.

"You play guitar?!? Sweet! You know any Rush songs?" He seemed eager to hear his favorite band.

"Totally!" He hoisted the guitar strap and motioned for us to sit down. He placed one leg up onto his coffee table, a typical guitar pose, and played the introduction from Rush's "La Villa Strangiato." I didn't feel so bad, because Eddy seemed to have fixated himself on Drake as well. Baurus was the only one whose eyes weren't on Drake, or rather the impressive bulge in his pants underneath I'm sure a delicious sheath was waiting to burst. After he finished playing, we clapped. I thought of other songs for him to play.

"How about Led Zeppelin" I asked. One of my favorite bands. However, instead of playing "Stairway to Heaven" which is what I was hoping for, Drake began playing "The Rain Song" and suddenly, my subconscious burst with painful memories. Images flashed before my eyes of a human I once knew, with blonde hair and beautiful crystal blue eyes. Of a courthouse, where a family sat painfully looking away from the son that they were ashamed of. Of a hospital bed, upon which I leaned over, weeping. And finally, of a funeral procession, my right hand painfully clamped around a coffin, being carried to its final resting place. The sudden surge of pain was too much for me to bear...I had to leave. Without a word, I got up and left, already feeling the tears burn at the corners of my eyes.

I found a place to weep silently: a deserted apartment a few blocks down from Drake's building. I tore open the front door, and threw myself into a nearby leather chair, bawling my eyes out. I had hoped that I could effectively shut out the memories from my previous relationship...but hearing the song that Scott and I had danced to at my senior prom had reawakened those memories, burning the inside of my eyes. All was silent for a while, save for the occasional car passing by outside, and my heaving sobs. The tears ran silently down my face, creating wet spots on my shirt.

All of a sudden, the silence was broken by knocking on the door. I hadn't wanted to be found for a while...but I let them in anyways. Baurus, Eddy, and Drake all stepped through the door; Eddy threw his arms around me, looking pale and nervous.

"What's wrong love? You just left"

"Is it something I said?" Drake said, looking guilty, as if it were he who had caused my pain. Upon laying eyes on him, the tears stopped, and I had to avert my eyes. He had Scott's eyes...it was eerie how close the resemblance was.

"Talk to me." Eddy said. I knew that I was going to have to tell him sooner or later, and I preferred that I be surrounded by my new friends when I told him. I took a deep sigh, and wiped the leftover tears from my eyes. This was going to be a long, difficult conversation.....

Hope you enjoyed! PLEASE COMMENT! I need your comments to keep living...please! Hahaha jk. Remember, I still need characters to keep going with this, so if you wanna be in on it, let me know!

BTW: The whole incident with "Scott" actually happened to me...just to let you know.
