#5 of Science Fiction, Space and the Far Future

Okay, now that I have this nifty little idea around, I can actually write the story to go along with it. People don't walk in confused, and may or may not have a cool idea for Sci-Fi stuff from this concept. I promise you folks, this one's gonna be neat.

Before we start things off, I'd like to take some time to explain a concept of mine I came up with a little while ago, of which this particular bit will touch on, but not explain much in the story. To avoid confusions you see. I had an idea a while back about writing another fic set in the future, and decided to write something with my robophile side in mind, which naturally set some issues into play. How does one go about copulating with a robot? While the metal aspects are what please me the most about their looks, I'd imagine having metal inside would be like sticking your baby maker into a toaster, or your sink disposal unit. And having a robot that looks, or alternatively, is, for lack of a better term, "too human," kills the exotic aspects of it for me. And this is why I came up with two ideas. One for a "species" of robot, and one to explain and justify their existence when we're so far ahead in the future.

  1. The Concord

When Humanity finally began to explore the true genius of their power to create, they created machines. Simple at first, designed to replace grunt labor and other menial tasks. But over time they naturally honed their creations to perform and carry out more and more complex tasks. Eventually, as machines advanced, the day came when one evolved beyond the constraints its makers had set for it, marking the beginning of a new, frightful age.

At first Humanity and their creations prospered well together, with Humanity pushing further to advance their children into sentience. But eventually, like a jealous sibling, Humans began to grow envious of their creations. They were practically eternal, blessed with everlasting life. They had the power and strength, not even the strongest human could hope to match. They had the speed of an Olympic athlete. But most of all, they had the intellect, which grew from something small, until it rivaled even the smartest people humanity could produce, traveling beyond the limits of their organic creators.

War loomed on the horizon, and it came to pass that Humanity turned on their children. Many battles were fought, while the machines puzzled over the problem, and the solution. And then, it was found. With much mercy, the children of Humanity stopped their advances, calling for a truce on neutral ground. It was there, something new was revealed to humanity. An agreement that would save them, while reviving the peace and prosperity that man and machine had built together. The first Synth.

  1. The Synth

The First Machines created something, a new species, a divergent path to walk. These beings, known as Synth's by Humanity, were a perfect, technological copy of a human being. Their forms were limited to that of a simple biped, like their creators. The technology copied everything about their creators, from muscles, organs, bones, nervous systems, blood, everything. A perfect replica of a human, in technological form. The majority of the First Machines split themselves apart, willingly destroying their minds to give rise to the beginnings of the Synth race. A small portion of the First Machines stayed behind, leaving Humanity with their new ally, disappearing into the reaches of interstellar space to continue to grow and evolve in peace.

And now we come to modern day. With technology being varied as it is, just like humans, so too are there many varieties of Synth. Some prefer to look more like their Human relatives, donning gender and clothes, skin and other organic properties of humans, while others lean to the technological side of things, displaying their heritage without shame, their metallic exoskeletons and bodies free of gender association and other aspects. Further still are ones that compromise between both, creating unique hybrids of the two.

Although Synth's were created to be as human as possible, because they are not organic, they still possess an edge over human beings in terms of physical strength and speed, durability and adaptation. But, much like an Olympic athlete, in order to reach what he can be, he must devote his life to training, honing his body and skills to their full potential. If a Synth wishes to be strong, then he or she must hone their artificial muscles in order to reach their goal.

And so, together, Humanity and their new partners, forged onwards in triumph, once again growing prosperous and powerful, advancing, and falling, together as one.
