#1 of Furnetics

Another story I will eventually add more on to. This was inspired by this website ([link]) and a trip to a cheese steak place called Chinks. Again not sure Ill continue but there's a chance.

Today was the day. Years of saving, the ten month waiting period, and all the physical and physiological tests would finally pay off. Cue alarm clock. World's worst beeping noise rouses me from a sleep haunted by nightmares of what could go wrong.

Wrong with what? Well today's the day I finally am undergoing the change I dreamed of since being a child of seven. More radical then tattoos or plastic surgery, Furnetics Phenotype Renovation is what I'm about to undergo. More specifically I'm going to be turned into an anthropomorphic feline. As you can imagine this will be a huge change.

Waking up was easy, the time it took to eat breakfast and shower were not. I was ready to go now. Now is not the time I was scheduled for. Something about them needing to be open. To pass time I force myself to watch TV. Nothing good on due to it being 7 AM. After what feels like a week, its 9 o'clock. Time to leave. Jumping down the stairs, sprinting to the car, and entering my car all take an eternity in my mind. I average 15 miles over the speed limit on my way there, blasting Modest Mouse out the speakers.

Right well, why do I want to be turned into a walking, talking cat? Well as stated before its been my dream since I was seven. Back at that early age I saw a movie. Unlike many other movies this one had cat people in it. I forget the title but this left a very distinct impression on my young mind. Over the next twenty years the image never faded. I wanted to be a cat person too, just like the people in the movie. I fantasized about it, wished it, drew pictures, and wrote stories. Five years ago I was introduced to Furnetic's work through an internet search. I saw the pictures and stories of the people who underwent the change. I knew right then that I wanted it. The problem is I had just finished collage and had no money. No job either, but I had something to work for and that's a start. I took up two jobs to survive and add cash to a separate bank account. It took four years of dedication but I finally had enough. I manged to get a discount by telling my story to a secretary. With the discount I had money for claws and sensory enchantment. For that much money I should leave no detail untouched. After I had the money I contacted them ten months ago.

After the initial contact I had to prove I was serious through an hundred plus question interview. I passed. Then meeting with a "counselor" for time since then. A whole pile of tests were done on me. I designed my fur pattern. That alone took me five trips to their lab. It was worth it. The creature I saw on screen was the most beautiful in the world to me. Nothing could get me down after I saw that. The end result of all that money and time would finally happen today.

I parked in the patient lot, as close to the door as I could mange. At the door I stared at it for a second. Turning around I bowed to the parking lot and what lay beyond. I then waved goodbye to it and marched through the door. This was my last day as I was born. The person behind the counter appeared to be a woman somewhere in her sixties but with graying hair and the same expression she'd probably worn for the last twenty years of her life. She dropped a bin on the table and instructed me to put all the objects in the bin. The lady never asked my name and never seemed to require it. My keys, wallet, 2 pens, and cell phone went into the bin. The lady then pointed to a door on the left. She instructed me to go through it into a waiting room and wait there.

In the waiting room there 3 other people. Piles of magazines were on the tables but none of the people seemed to be reading them. I couldn't read either, excited as I was. Instead I paced. Not a word was shared in the waiting room, until we were joined by a single doctor carrying a clipboard.

"Greeting, and let me welcome you to Furnectic's newest faculty. If your name is not on the list I am about to read, I will ask you to please leave.

Alexander Lewis, receiving a Morphic Otter package.

Jennifer Lewis, also receiving a Morphic Otter package.

Terry Niro, receiving a Morphic Feline package.

Neil Cierega, receiving a Morpic X package."

No one stood up to leave

"Everyone who is supposed to be here is then. Now you may be wondering why there are three other people here. The reason is we at Furnetics like to group people together to help them after their change is complete. A change as complete as this one certainly requires quite a lot to get used to. We hope having other people near you going through similar adjustment will help. They will live with you during your three month recovery period. Do I have any questions?"

No one moved.

"Good, lets get started then. First we go to the design wing. This is your last chance to change anything in your design."

We were lead off not saying anything. We were led to our design terminals and allowed to make any final adjustments on what our futures held. The most beautiful creature on Earth still stood there taunting me for not being it. I slammed the approve button and returned back to line. Eventually the three of my group mates joined me. Another hallway, and then another. Through the labyrinth we went noiseless except for one of the men who appeared to be humming Down With a Sickness. After being separated, I was led to a blank room with only one box and two doors. I was left with instructions, strip and place your clothing in the box. With that done a mechanized voice tells me to exit through the other door. I'm greeted by a lone nurse there to prep me. The table I lay on is hard and cold. Lights shine on me and a mask placed on my face. I inhale deeply and drift off to an artificial rest.

I wake up. According to the calender it is three days later. I lift up my hand and stare at it. The beauty of the fur covered hand stuns me. Claws shoot out of the tips when I flex just the right muscle. I sit up and survey my room. Plain and boring. A dresser, a bedside table, a calender, a clock, and a window. Nothing to attract attention. Nothing for me to see my new splendor. A note is on the table. I pick it up and read.

"Congratulations, your now officailly part feline. Welcome to the recovery wing. This wing will be your home for the next few months. It's here where you'll have your group meetings and lessons about getting the most out of your new form. Bathrooms are straight across for your room, and the kitchen is off to your right. If you follow the signs you'll be fine. Now there are a few rules here.

1.No sexual relations are allowed

2.Do not exit this wing without permission

3.Ask before making phone calls

4.Lessons are not mandatory but are recommended

5.Use common sense at all times

Clothing is optional here but it is recommended to you get used to it. Even with a covering of fur most people prefer all human like people clothed. There will be lessons on how to modify clothing to accommodate your unique form. Please make yourself at home and if any questions should arise ask any of the staff."

I finished reading and looked up. Sun streamed through the window, calling me outside. I decided no clothing for right now and exited through my door. A field of green stretched before me. Overhead was a glass dome letting only light in and out. I started to run letting joy course through me. I eventually tripped over not used to walking and running with a tail. I decided the bathroom was where I needed to go next. After some searching I finally manged to find it. Inside was a full length mirror. I stared at myself in it. I was overjoyed at what I saw. The beauty of the creature in the mirror brought me to tears. It was all there, there uniquely mixed black and white fur pattern, the claws, the ears, the tail which was slightly longer then normal. My dream had become a reality.
