The morning after, how fair our heros? Heart ache is such a horrible thing, everyone reacts to it differently. But unfortunately for Naruto he has other concerns as well. And sometimes it takes a few wise words from someone you trust to put you on the right course.

For those of you not familiar with the Naruto series there may be some words or terminology that you are not familiar with. I have listed such words in a journal.Disclaimer: I do not own Naruto in any way, this is a non-profit fan-fiction written for fun.

In any case, you came here for the story, so I hope you enjoy it.*******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

"Not bad... but I'm not going to let you have Naruto! He's mine!" Kiba yelled.

"I'm not going to let you touch him!" Sasuke roared. "I'll kill you before I let that happen!"

"THAT'S ENOUGH!" Sasuke and Kiba froze, in the door way was a very pissed off looking Naruto. Immediately Sasuke's chidori faded away leaving the rooms only source of light coming from the door way that Naruto was standing in. Naruto stood in the doorway, his fist clenched, scowling. His hair was messy and wet, his orange shirt open and wet from the rain.

"Naruto... I..."

"Shut it Teme!" Naruto cut Sasuke off, Sasuke visibly flinched from the anger in Naruto's voice. "What am I?" Naruto demanded. "A piece of meat for you to fight over?! I belong to no-one! I choose who I will be with!" Naruto yelled, finally having had enough, he looked straight at Kiba Kiba frowned and looked away. Seeing Kiba's defeated expression Sasuke wanted nothing more than to smirk, but he knew that wouldn't go down well so he suppressed. it. "You two want me so badly then you'd better do it the right way! But you'll be bloody lucky if I give either of you a chance after tonight! I'm not some play thing!" Naruto turned and stormed out of the room leaving both Kiba and Sasuke in a deafening silence, his words hung in the air, neither one of them able to argue with them.*******************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Clean Slate - Part 2

Naruto couldn't sleep, even as the sun rose over the horizon flooding his room with it's warming light, he hadn't slept a wink. The events of the previous night replaying over and over. Kissing Sasuke, Hinata finding them, Sasuke and Kiba literally fighting over him. If anyone had told a week ago that in the coming week he would question his own sexuality, go on a date with a girl, have his best friend confess his love for him and end up kissing him instead of the girl... he would have told them they were nuts. Things like that just didn't happen in real life.

'Why did I kiss Sasuke!' Naruto cringed. 'Because of that now... no it's not Sasuke's fault. I kissed him and it was good, really good... but now I'm probably going to be assassinated by Hinata's father.' The ominous threat Hinata's father gave him before they left on their date weighed heavily on his mind. 'So Sasuke's gay... I wonder if Sakura knows? If she did why didn't she tell me?' Naruto sat up on his bed and looked out the window. 'This could be my last day alive... no point in worrying about little things like that. But if this is going to be my last day alive, I'm sure as hell going to enjoy it!' Jumping out of bed Naruto headed for the shower.

************

Kakashi was sitting on his bed, Iruka had just left for work and Kakashi didn't need to leave for his mission for a while, so he decided to spend the time in bed doing his favourite past time, reading. He was still reading the book Naruto had given him, a pre-release copy of the newest Icha Icha novel. This was his third time reading it, the erotic novel enticing several perverted giggles from the silver haired ninja.

.

"Enjoying the book are we?" Kakashi looked up to see Jiraiya sitting on his window sill.

"Oh yes." Kakashi smiled "The passion, the intensity... the mystery! I love it!"

"Well it is my best work to date. But as much as I'd love to talk about my work all day I have business to get round to." Kakashi closed his book, having memorised the page number he had been on, and put it down to show that Jiraiya that he had his undivided attention. "As per our agreement I'm leaving Naruto in your care, but I have something to tell you first. It's about his sword..."

************

Sasuke felt awful. His head was throbbing, a relentless dull throb that just wouldn't go away.

His tongue felt like it was coated in sand, but all those symptoms only helped to dull the pain of the fact that he had blown his chance with Naruto! As he lay there agonising over it, a stabbing pain in his chest as his heart came to terms with the fact.. Naruto had accepted him, kissed him, but he screwed it up by fighting with Kiba! He lay in on his large double bed, the room slowly getting brighter as the sun tried to penetrate the closed curtains. Sasuke didn't know what to do, part of him just wanted to curl up and die here in his bed, put himself out of his misery, he wondered how long it would be before someone found his body. Another, bigger part of him continued to long for Naruto, clinging to the hope that he could apologise and Naruto would give him another chance. Then there was the last part of him, that small part of him that wouldn't just go away, the one that really needed to pee.

************

Kiba slept soundly embracing Akamaru, the large white wolf-hound sleeping soundly next to his master in bed. The morning light slowly brightening the room, the curtains blocking out most of the light but small cracks allowing beams of light to stream into the room and across Kiba's bare skin. The early morning noises from outside doing little to rouse the brunette from his slumber as he dreamt of Naruto.

"Kiba! Get your lazy ass up now!"

"Urrggh..." Kiba groaned, the familiar holler of his mother echoing though out the house.

"Kiba! Did you hear me!?"

"YES MA!" He yelled back, awake now. "THE WHOLE VILLAGE HEARD YOU MA!"

"Enough lip! I don't care if you've got a day off, you've got chores to do!" Kiba didn't respond, it was like this everyday, he was never allowed to sleep past seven and that was if he was lucky. One problem about being a clan that cares for dogs was that there was always chores to be done. Knowing that it was only a matter of time before his mother came back to yell at him some more he pulled himself up out of bed, sitting in the edge of the bed and rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Akamaru whining in disappointment as Kiba released his embrace on him.

"Morning boy." Kiba grinned as Akamaru got up and began to licked his face. "That was fun last night eh?" Akamaru barked in agreement. "We'd better get cleaned up." Kiba grinned getting up and padded naked across the room to the ensuite bathroom. Kiba was so glad he had this, he hated getting dressed only to strip again to have a shower, this way he didn't and even better it gave him a lot of privacy. Akamaru followed him and watched silently as Kiba turned on the shower for it to heat up while he relieved himself. "So what do you say to a little early morning fun before we do our chores boy?" Akamaru barked and wagged his tail, he loved shower time with Kiba in the mornings.

************

Naruto stepped out of the shower, dripping wet and feeling better about himself. Yes at any moment he expected a member of the Hyuga clan to appear and attempt to assassinate him, but that didn't mean he had to let it spoil his day. Grabbing a towel Naruto dried himself off, before walking back into his room naked as the day he was born. Hungry, Naruto decided that he would treat himself and what better meal could he ask for, potentially his last meal before being assassinated, than some Ichiraku Ramen? With a smile in his heart and a spring in his step Naruto quickly slipped on his black and orange track suit, grabbed his sword and headed for Ichiraku's.

The morning was refreshing and despite his lack of sleep, Naruto felt invigorated. Even the dark cloud of impending assassination that hung over him did little pull him down. Naruto navigated the streets and alleyways, a route he was confident he could do blind folded, and came to a stop outside Ichiraku's, it was shut. Naruto had forgotten how early it actually was, looking at the time he realised it would be the best part of two hours before they would open.

"Damn... what am I going to do now?"

************

Sasuke fell back into bed with a sigh, not bothering to get back under the covers. Perfectly content with staring at the plain white ceiling, wearing nothing but a pair of blue briefs, Sasuke could only think about Naruto. The softness of his lips, his silky smooth skin that was hot to the touch, the slick wetness of his tongue. The angry scowl.

"Fuck!" Sasuke yelled, smacking his fist into the mattress. The lack of damage making the action feel less satisfactory as he'd hoped.

He'd done it, Naruto had not only accepted his feelings but had returned them. Naruto had kissed him back. But he couldn't leave it at that. No, he had loved Naruto secretly for too many years to let it end like that. He could take a little comfort in knowing that he had been equally angry with Kiba, that fucking mutt! Thinking he owned Naruto, treating him like nothing more than a sex toy. Naruto meant more than that him and he was going to prove it! Motivated Sasuke pulled himself up and began get ready, his hangover forgotten for the moment.

************

Unable to stop himself Sasuke began heading towards Naruto's apartment. He knew it was early, he knew it was irrational but he couldn't stop himself. He needed to see Naruto and apologise and hopefully Naruto would give him another chance. Lost in thought Sasuke soon found himself outside Naruto's front door, his hand poised to knock but he stopped himself inches from the door.

'This is idiotic! What the hell am I going to say to him? I'm sorry Naruto, please give me another chance?' Sasuke visibly deflated and stepped back from the door. 'He's probably still sleeping... he'd probably be still pissed off and waking him up this early probably wouldn't help me.' With a sigh Sasuke pulled himself away from the door, glumly making his way through town as he tried to think about what he would actually say to Naruto when he finally came face to face with him. Looking up Sasuke realised that that might be a little sooner than he had expected.

Naruto was walking along the main street, his gaze at his feet as he slowly moved. Naruto was lost in his thoughts, trying to decide what he was going to do. Sasuke began to follow him, every fibre in his being wanting to go and speak to him but something held him back. To both Naruto's and Sasuke's surprise Kakashi rounded a corner carrying a travel pack across his back.

"Kakashi-sensei?"

"Oh, good morning Naruto!" Kakashi grinned, looking up from his book.

"Are you going somewhere?"

"Oh! I was given a mission last night, I'm just heading out."

"A mission!? But what about me? What about Team Kakashi!?"

"I was specifically requested for this mission, don't take it too hard. Team Kakashi will have it's first mission when I get back, I promise. Sorry Naruto but I've got to go." Without another word Kakashi continued on his way to the main gate, leaving Naruto feeling disappointed and a little upset. Naruto continued up the street in the opposite direction of Kakashi. Kakashi paused outside a doorway and not looking up from his book began to speak. "You know Sasuke, it's not very nice to spy on your team mates."

"It's complicated." Sasuke huffed, stepping out of the doorway.

"Maybe it is, maybe it isn't."

"And just what is that meant to mean!?" Sasuke snapped not in the mood for Kakashi's cryptic messages.

"Naruto is in a very confused place right now, he's scared and he's lonely." Kakashi said, finally looking up from his book to look Sasuke in the eye. "He needs someone who cares to show him..."

"To show him what?"

"To show him what love really is."

"Love?" Sasuke asked confused.

"He's never had the love of a parent, never had a family, he was basically an outcast as a child. He fought hard to gain the friends he has now. He doesn't understand what love is, it would be easy for someone to take advantage of that." Kakashi's words made sense to Sasuke, his thoughts immediately picturing Kiba to be the one taking advantage of Naruto. "If you dawdle in doorways for much longer someone might snatch him away from you." With that said Kakashi continued walking, his comment stunning Sasuke as he realised Kakashi knew about his feelings for Naruto.

"But... what if I've already lost my chance?" Sasuke asked his eyes staring down at his feet with a pained scowl, remembering the angry expression on Naruto's face, the anger in his voice last night when he found Kiba and himself fighting over him. Kakashi looked over his shoulder with a smile.

"Love always gets a second chance."
