#5 of Jason's Nightmare

This is the longest chapter I've made in forever though I don't think my friend will find it as long. Anyway, this is part 4 of Jason's Nightmare where you guys finally get a glimpse of Jason's condition and background. Expect another one like it coming up later (or tomorrow, depends on my schedule).

NOTE: I never realized that I've been spelling gardevoir wrong the entire time... i feel so ashamed of myself T-T...

Characters (except Jason) belong to BridgeToPeace and due to my obnoxious internet, our communication isn't very good so there may be instances where I get them wrong. Expect my future uploads to improve though 'cause I will be asking for his approval before sharing it with you guys. This story is a collaboration anyway, it's only fair that he sees it first.

Jason found himself standing in his 'heaven on earth', the one place he felt happiest. He felt his legs crumbling beneath him with the intense nostalgia, tears began flowing out as a smile crept across his face. "This... this is..."

"Jason, wake the fuck up!" an angry male voice called out from reality.

Jason was forced awake when Raiki suddenly poured ice-cold water on him. "WHA!?" Jason exclaimed, shivering and shaking. "Dude, that wasn't cool!"

Raiki couldn't help but snicker, a joke formulating in his mind. "Of course it wasn't cool, it was freezing."

Jason stared at Raiki in disbelief. "Dude, you should really refrain from joking... you could hurt yourself if you try."

Raiki, the male luxray, just stood there, bucket in hand looking quite irritated. "Professor Kashikoi has gathered everyone to the dining hall." He said as he placed the bucket on the table. "You're the only one not there and he insists we wait until everyone's there."

'Darn it, just when my dream was getting good' Jason thought to himself. "Hold on... I'll just go fulfil your request of me bathing."

"Finally." Raiki said though Jason assumed it was an act of sarcasm. "Just make it quick, everyone's starving."

"Can't make any promises." Jason answered as he grabbed a towel and headed for the showers. Jason felt the warm water running across his fur, he felt his body relax as he exhaled, releasing the pent up energy. He pondered on what happened that night, his aura failing him, the nightmare, the voice and the dream. Jason's never had a dream where he viewed the world in third person, at least he's never dreamed of the past where he watched himself move. Jason didn't want to stay long in the showers so he turned the water off and dried himself as quickly as he can.

Jason met up with the others at the dining hall and he noticed that they all looked upset. A lot of eyes glared at Jason, some were in question, others were in irritation but they all made Jason feel uneasy. He took the only seat available, the one next to Raiki, sat down and everybody began to eat.

One by one, Professor Kashikoi asked everyone to share a story as to keep their breakfast lively. One by one, everyone shared their experience so far. Some have mentioned a lake nearby, maybe a good swim would do Jason some good, he does enjoy the cool water. Others shared experienced with caves, or maybe a good adventure, yes, that might relax Jason.

"How about you, Jason?" Kashikoi asked, the mewtwo smiling in encouragement in anticipation of Jason's response. "What have you been doing here on the mountain?"

"Nothing much..." Jason said as he swallowed down his meal. "Just walking inside the forest, enjoying the breeze."

"Not to mention disturbing my sleep." Raiki added and everyone chuckled.

"Hey, I said I was sorry didn't I?" Jason replied, his face glowing red in embarrassment.

"We heard you yelling in the middle of the night." The grovyle from cabin nine added. "Couldn't tell what you said though."

"It's not important." Jason mumbled as he looked away.

"Sure sounded important." Guren added, the female gardevoir looking at Jason with concern. "Are you okay, Jason? I don't know if it's the same for you americans but here dreams aren't something to be taken lightly."

"Hey, hey now." Kashikoi interrupted. "Let's not pressure Jason. He's not the star of this show, you ALL are."

"Actually, sir," Jason said, shifting nervously in his seat. "would you mind if I went on ahead?"

Kashikoi stared at Jason, observing his facial expression, but he nodded with a smile. "Not at all, young one." He said as he gestured for Jason to leave.

Jason stood up, gave them all a bow and left, leaving Guren and those who cared, staring in concern. Jason made his way for the lake, hoping a nice swim would clear his mind. He had no idea where the lake was since the student failed to mention that detail so he used his aura and tried to find it himself. After about an hour of walking, he stumbled upon an incredible sight...

"My god..." Jason gasped in awe as he stared at the beautiful lake. The water was crystal clear, it seemed clean, pure and unreal, you can actually see the floor beneath. The lake was much deeper than he had previously expected, maybe about thirty feet deep. Jason stared in awe as he has never seen anything like this in his life.

Jason took off his tank top and stripped to his boxers. He looked for a secure place to hide his clothes in case anybody tried to take them and found I decent hole beneath a rock. "I guess nobody would think to look here..." Jason thought to himself as he stood up and jumped into the water.

"God, it's freezing!" he exclaimed in shock as she emerged from the surface. Other than the sudden chill, the lake was very relaxing for Jason. He felt the feeling of weightlessness and flight, which he enjoyed most about swimming. The clear water also gave the illusion of floating making the experience much more enjoyable.

"You seem happy." Guren said as she emerged from the shade of the trees, the gardevoir taking Jason by surprise. "What happened back there?"

Guren's presence startled Jason, almost to the point that Jason nearly drowned. Jason emerged from the surface, coughing and hacking but alive as he swam towards the shore. "Oh my gosh, are you alright?" she asked as she reached downed and helped Jason off the water.

"Yeah, I'm fine." Jason answered with a little wheeze. "When did you get here?"

Obviously Jason's condition was Guren's first priority, but Jason kept insisting that he was alright so Guren stopped. "Just now, why?" she asked.

"It's just..." Jason said, thinking of how he'd share with her his secret. "I didn't feel you come near."

Guren stared at Jason in confusion. "What do you mean?" she asked. "Oh, and can you put some clothes on? I prefer seeing you NOT in your underwear."

Later, after Jason had retrieved and put on his clothing, he and Guren sat down by the lake to discuss what Jason meant to say. "Well, you know how lucarios are gifted with the use of the aura right?" Jason asked.

"Of course." Guren answered. "You know, you lucarios have always fascinated me... how a fighting steel type such as yourself can learn so much."

"Actually, I'm also part fire type..." Jason added. "But that's not the point--"

"Wait, you're part fire!?" Guren asked.

"Well..." Jason mumbled. "My dad was a blaziken and I guess I inherited a little of his attributes."

"Wow, that's interesting." Guren commented as she stared to inspect Jason. "So does that mean that you're weak to water now?"

Jason shook his head. "Not really, all I got from him is a partial resistance to fire so I'm no longer weak to it... and I also learned fire punch and blaze kick."

"Wow..." Guren said in awe then she shook her head. "Sorry, we're getting off topic aren't we? What were you going to say... about your aura?"

Jason stared at the lake and pondered. "Well... when I evolved into a lucario, my mother commented that my ability with the aura was immense. She also noticed that my ability changed from inner focus into something entirely different..."

"Do you mean Justified?" Guren asked. "I've heard of some lucario who possess that rare ability."

"No, it's not Justified." Jason answered. "My mother said that my new ability was the 'passive use of aura'."

"What does that mean?" Guren asked.

"Well, she said that my aura was always at work." Jason said. "It served as radar for me as it pulsed in every direction. I've been using it ever since I evolved. I was so used to the feeling that I know everything in my surroundings that the thought of being blind scared me."

"And when I arrived, and you didn't sense me... that scared you?" Guren asked, Jason nodding in reply. "Why weren't you able to sense me?"

Jason stared at the lake, tears gathering in his eyes. "I... don't know." his voice cracking at the verge of crying.

Guren placed her hand on Jason's shoulder to calm him down. "Don't worry, Jason. We can figure this out."

"How?" Jason asked.

"Well, maybe we should ask Professor Kashikoi?" She suggested. "I mean, being one of the few mewtwo in this world, he has to know at least something that would help."

"Maybe you're right." Jason replied as he stood up and took a few stretches. "C'mon then, let's go talk to him."

Jason and Guren made their way back to camp, each preparing their own set of questions for Kashikoi. On the way, they encountered some of the students gossiping as to why it is that Guren and Jason are always together but they just ignored them. They soon reached the large cabin where Professor Kashikoi stayed and knocked on the double doors.

"Professor," Jason called out. "We wish to ask you some questions."

After a few moments of waiting, Jason sensed Kashikoi's presence approaching. Soon, Kashikoi opened the door. "Ah, yes, I was expecting you." Kashikoi said. "Wasn't expecting you to bring her though."

"She's a friend." Jason said. "And she wants to help."

"Ah, a friend." Kashikoi mumbled. "wonderful. Come, come, we'll discuss this inside."

Kashikoi led Guren and Jason through several rooms, most of which were libraries of sorts containing tall shelves and old books. "This is where the Xenon books are kept." Kashikoi said as they moved along. "They're all encrypted so it's useless trying to read them, even I couldn't make out what is written."

"They're incredible." Guren mumbled. "I mean, I can't read them but they look amazing, as if they've been preserved for thousands of years."

"They smell funny." Jason commented. "And... this place feels different... as if I'm walking through a... viscous wall."

Kashikoi and Guren stopped, closed their eyes and tried feeling what Jason felt. "Jason, I don't feel anything." Guren said as she opened her eyes. "Maybe the smell is getting to you, maybe you feel sick."

"Hey, I like the smell of books." Jason said. "And besides, I know what I'm feeling and it's definitely something unnatural. And I don't feel dizzy in any way."

Kashikoi stared, watched Jason and Guren argue about such petty things. Kashikoi's mind was racing at all the possibilities. Jason' parents have warned him of Jason's condition, it just might be possible. "Jason, how long has it been since you evolved?" Kashikoi asked.

Guren and Jason stopped arguing and turned their attention towards the professor. "About two years ago..." Jason answered. "Why?"

"Come, sit with me." Kashikoi said, gesturing towards the chairs in the study. "Now's a better time than any to discuss of this."

Jason, Guren and Kashikoi sat together in the study. Kashikoi had prepared and offered tea to the two of them so they each sat with a cup of warm tea. "For starters, I guess it's best that I tell you that I know of your... condition."

"It's not a condition." Jason defensively commented.

"I know, I know." Kashikoi answered. "You see it as a gift but I tell you this, what you have there is far from a gift. It will soon lead you to your destruction."

"Um, if I may interrupt," Guren said. "what condition are you guys talking about?"

Kashikoi turned his attention towards Guren. "You see, Jason here was a... peculiar one."

"You say that as if it's a bad thing." Jason mumbled but Kashikoi and Guren ignored him.

"When Jason evolved into a lucario, his power with the aura was different." Kashikoi said.

"Different how?" Guren asked.

"He cannot control it." Kashikoi answered. "It's always active, it doesn't cease."

"Is that bad?" Guren asked.

"Not really." Kashikoi said. "But it depends on the person so there's still the possibility of the worst."

"And that is?" Guren asked but Kashikoi had no answer.

"Jason, what do you think?" Kashikoi asked as he turned to Jason.

"Nothing." Jason answered. "Nothing bad will happen to me."

"You can't keep on believing that, Jason." Kashikoi said. "You should know by now that you're wrong." Kashikoi waited for Jason to respond, but he merely turned away, avoiding any form of eye contact. "The nightmare, they're evidence of that. I may not know what it was that you saw in your dreams but whatever it was you didn't like it."

"I... I don't know what's wrong with me." Jason said.

"Miss Kagayaku, I think Jason would prefer if you weren't here." Kashikoi said. "What we're about to discuss next would be a bit... personal."

Guren didn't argue, she knew that it would only be harder for Jason if she was here. She stood up, took a bow and left.

"Jason, your parents have told me of... Sarah." Kashikoi said. Jason's attention was now focused on Kashikoi at the mention of the name. "I know it's hard for you Jason, but if you don't take this issue seriously something might happen." Kashikoi hoped that Jason would respond but he just sat there, staring at nothing. "I know Sarah's death is hard for you but you musn't beat yourself up--"

At that, Jason just lost it. He immediately stood up and ended the discussion. "Look, professor, I'm sorry but... I just don't wanna talk about this." At that, Jason bowed down. "I must take my leave." And left without saying another word.
